Ciara isn't a "backslider" that is who she is. What we see on social media is her brand.
In my opinion, her lyrics were weak. It didn't match the overall tone of the song. Also, it's just annoying to constantly see the body of Christ collab with secular artist.
I like Ciara and I pray the best for her. Hulvey is so talented and I look forward to hearing more from him.

Few things that i feel are important to know, that honestly could be a lack of Cultural awareness: 1. While yes, both Ciara and Russel profess Christ as their savior with their mouths, Ciara still gives lap dances at her shows. She's not a newer believer, she grew up in the church and attempted Christian music a few years back. Interviews from both parties will show you they have proclaimed their faith for years. BTW she does practice some new age habits. Again it takes one you tube search and her own words as recent as 2 months ago.
2. I see most of what you're referring to in regards of people not being happy, most of those arguments are just outrage and not coming from a place of actually knowing her RECENT MUSIC. While I agree with everything you are saying. It is geared towards defending a NEW believer. Ciara is not a NEW believer.
I don't agree with the majority of angry fans. I am coming from a practical stance. Hulvey and many other CHH artists have this habit of letting people jump on a track without applying wisdom expected from a Christian entertainer. I can speak on this because I am up to date and in these rooms with the people involved. I see your point and the fans points. Its a bigger discussion than just a "Get over it.". No one should be cancelled and I don't think this is a "Win" for CHH lol Its just not the best look. IDK I guess I'm just one of those fans that are not important enough to speak on it, as many CHH artists like to say to their fans lol. Why can’t it be both ? Fixer Upper was for entertainment on HGTV but the ministry was the Gaines family displaying God through the way they loved each other and did life as a family. I think this idea that ministry has to be this set apart work in whatever industry we’re in is a limited mindset. It’s also the reason so many believers have taken their gifts elsewhere.

Ciara is not a new Christian. I wish you did more research before just giving a stamp of approval. Her being married to a man who claims to be a Christian will not help her enter the gates of heaven. To be clear I say claiming because I’m pretty sure an Ephesians 5 man would not think it is acceptable for the mother of his children to post in a g-string for the Oscars.
Hulvey shouldn’t be canceled per se but maybe do a better vetting process for who he chooses to work with.

Please read 2 Corinthians 6:14-18. I do not think the issue is telling people to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. I believe the concern is we are not fairly addressing that you can not remain the way you were.
I also think this controversy addresses that everyone that claims to be a Christian, may not actually have the Holy Spirit dwelling within them. You shall know them by their fruit.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is meant to offend sinners. Those that accept it, are adopted into the kingdom, those that don’t are not. It offends because it acknowledges our sin. It offends because it points out our unrighteousness. It offends because it is truth. You can share without being hateful, but my prayer is that everyone stops condemning the entire body of Christ for doing as the Bible commands us-to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.

I’m not in the business to say who’s really following Jesus, and who’s not, but her discography and the images of her online, as well as a lot of her outfits do not glorify God by any stretch of the imagination. And to make her that much more accessible to his young and impressionable fanbase… I don’t like it.

May God guide Christians to look at what is godly and may He guide non believers to come to Him through this song.

I would suggest that believers today cut everything off and go read your Bibles (STUDY from the gospels to Revelations). Don't listen to your favorite preacher, don't listen to your favorite Christian artist, just you and the written word (and the Holy Spirit). Do this for 30 days and then come back and see if this whole Christian culture even looks or sounds anything like what you see in the scriptures. My advice to you would be to study the words of Jesus himself and see if the Jesus of the Bible (and His disciples) resemble the Jesus of today's Christian culture.

I didn't know she was still singing. I'm happy for the new collab. Hulvey and Forrest were blowing up over the last year. All of us need God's grace and none of us are perfect
Christianity is a personal relationship with God. Sins are confessed to Him not to people. Sometimes I think some Christians remind me of the Sadducees. Jesus came to fulfill the law so that we are not subject to the law. We as Christians must commit to the new commandment (LOVE). We have to do better and stop judging people's walk in Christ. And yes we need grace and mercy for one another. Thank you for reminding us all. Cause we all are still growing in Christ

Ru this feels like a stretch. I think there are different ways to define ministry. I’m pretty confident that Hulvey would consider his music a form or means of ministry. Ministry isn’t just the Sunday gathering. I don’t think it’s effective to rage at Ciara and I definitely don’t support anybody wild enough to cancel Hulvey over this. But I don’t think it’s practical or valid to act like Christian-made music isn’t a clear mechanism for spiritual formation. We wouldn’t say that “worship” music is categorically NOT a means of ministry. So public music made by public figures in the body of Christ who have branded themselves as a “Christian” artists will naturally be expected to represent the faith in a way that is theologically sound. We live in a culture where the real gospel gets muddied or lumped in with a lot of noise and falsehoods. There’s a lot of line blurring. So when mainstream artists hop on a track and say things that can easily blur the line further, I think it’s reasonable that people would be concerned. All Christians participate in ministry in so far as they represent Christ to the world. So we should try to represent him humbly, transparently (none of us are perfect), and as accurately as we can.

I respectfully disagree! You're assuming she knows what she's saying is wrong. Most people and A LOT of Christians don't truly understand where a saying like "good vibes" actually comes from. There are now churches who claim to not be New Age and still use these terms because it has become too colloquial.
I’ve had Hulvey’s music on repeat for quite a while now. He’s one of my favorite artists. That being said, this was definitely a misstep. I understand that we need to be in these spaces to make a difference and shed a light in the darkness. I understand that some of these collaborations open doors to reach many new people. But Christian artists ought to be more careful in who they partner with. Ciara’s new age lyrics is something to be concerned about with the rise of Christianity being mixed with New age. And her brand in general is counterproductive to the gospel message. Anyways, I’ll still being screaming, “YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFUL!” in my car.
I think that with the remix, I thought that Ciara just shared where she's at in her faith. Good for her! I'm not a fan of the remix but I'm not hating it either lol. I do think that she would benefit from discipleship in her church community and I'm praying for her continued growth in Jesus. I didn't know about people cancelling folks though! That's crazy, we should be better than that.

@@MrTahref It’s a mixed bag, to be honest. Some songs felt like he had come around full-circle with repentance and forgiveness. Other songs made him sound bitter or possibly victimizing himself. I would recommend listening to the whole project, purely for context of his situation. You can get a lot from it.

I feel like we all go through this when we are young in Christ. It takes our desire to surrender to Christ before we see how some of these things are not glorifying to the Lord.
Call it a “ministry, entertainment, media” or whatever you want. The fact is, as Christians, we’re supposed to represent Christ. My question is, where should the line be drawn when it comes to our relationships, partnerships and affiliations?

The issue with me is Hulvey lowering his standards for her. I do not say she shouldn't participate, but as the one walking longer in faith he should have said to her that lower vibrations isn't a thing. Now that combined with other stuff pisses people off.

Having a singer who is not singing Christian music should not be on a Christian song unless they are saved and changed the life. But should we ignore the fact that having an artist like Ciara, who makes overtly sexually inspired music, on a song may lead some of his audience to go look for her music? I know Ciara is well known, and the people who are critical of this happening already know her music like I do. But we shouldn't just be okay with things like this happening because someone said they were Christian but the lives they lead aren't congruent with what they claim. People like Hulvey and Ciara are leaders in society, whether they want to own that or not. And you wouldn't let let a leader with a lifestyle that's contrarian to the believes they claim to speak in a Christian public space.
In the 90’s, Christian Hip Hop was strictly about preaching the gospel. Freedom of Soul, End Time Warriors , PID, God’s Original Gangstas, Dynamic Twins, Soldiers for Christ, A-1 Swift, T-Bone, Prime Minister, Disciples of Christ, I.D.O.L. King, Petidee and more preached the uncompromising word of God. It was real ministry. We need more of that today.

You do have that today, you just ain't looking in the right places. There are some Christians who are preaching the gospel and they do it in a way that may looked different from some of those same artists but still preaching God.
Preach, I haven't heard the song but saw the lyrics and agree with your take completely. People over read into wording sometimes, but words can have multiple meanings. I think it's great when people grow and it's important for Christians to do a better job of creating a safe space for other christians. Community can help us grow or it can cause real hurt so I hope doing the song will help her grow and not negate her aim to share the good news with those who may not yet know Jesus.

I spent a lot of my adolescence thinking the Christian music I listened too only existed to be ministry for me and the people behind it had to be the most Christian possible. That’s obviously a he wrong line of thinking. This is also how I’ve approached GAWVI’s new album as well. Would love to hear your perspective on the project.

My issue with the song is the fact that Hulvey didn't make it a mega collab. He could have had Parris, Monty, Brasel, Caleb Gordon, Crae, anyone from Indie Tribe, you, or anyone else in the CHH space on the joint but he didn't. That would have been dope.

Unfortunately, there are many Christians that hold new age beliefs and nothing about her verse or lifestyle should make you believe that she is not talking about vibrations. Hulvey putting that verse on the song is equivalent to putting a verse about Islam, a Christian cult, or a verse endorsing sin. He is responsible for any verse he puts on his song.

I think it's about christian music not always being worship music. Some of the music and collaborations are going to be questionable. And, it's because sometimes they sing and rap about christian lifestyle and topics that are relatable as christians. And at the end of the day, a majority of rap artists collaborate with newly converted christians and that always can feel weird to more seasoned christians. Andddd, it's not our place to judge.

Christian artist put in so much work to give us music we like. It’s a hard thing to do and it feels secular artist jump on the Christian wave to get some traction going again.
It’s no so much they are secular but they also need to put in the work to build that Christian fan base. Can’t cut the line by jumping on someone’s wave.
Dee 1 has collaborate with more than a few secular artist but i believe he is a real committed born again Christian and i think its his calling to perform with array of musicians most likely i know his light shining on them or a spark thats sowing the seed and message of Gods word .I don't see no surrendering or compromising hes been 100 every since hes been on the scene .Im sure Hulvey is just as committed.Regardless though we pray for everyone we all need it i need 24 7

But at the end of the day, we need to be careful. As long as the song is genuine,, it’s fine.
my take on it is I don't see now where in the word that it says that once we become saved we get to tell who can worship God and who cant and if they don't like what they here turn the channel just that simple leave him alone and leave her alone and I suggest that they stopped talking about them because we don't know what god is doing in they life and he will not be stop and he will move them that talking out the way just pray and bless them and jus go on about your day
Hi brother, if i may be honest. You speak as in a way to get back into the world but i know you not saying that. We should indeed pray for ciara & for our brother hulvey but it would have been better to welcome her into the body of Christ before calibrating with her , disciple her in the Word of the Lord & then she can use her talents to Glorify the Lord, however long that may take because we have eternity with Christ.
I truly understand your point. We have all fallen short of the Glory of God. I would say to those who are upset, have grace as some may have had grace and still has grace on you. If you don’t want to listen to the song, don’t. I’m not listen but to be so fixated on the sins and flaws of someone else when we have our own faults to work on is not the way. I don’t agree with a lot of the lyrics but I can appreciate the type of exposure this song will get to non believers. My prayer is that God is working on her heart and she will go all in one day.
I personally prefer the original song and didn't think the feature is necessary. I do agree thag christians need to stop being comment section warriors the moment someone does something and needs to extend more grace to new believer or believers on general that fall short. I do, however, believe that christians need to be careful with who they collaborate with. A CHH artist I like called EmmanueltheProphet has collabed and did remixes with secular artist that i just dont think were necessary and didnt add anything to the song,2 of them being Lil Yatchy and RichTheKid. Rich couldn't even do his verse with cussing and they had to bleep his cuss words out. I think CHH artist should probably be a little more strict with who they let on their songs or at least overview the features verse/lyrics and recommend them to change their lyrics and if they aren't willing too,canceling the collaboration. That is what I would do if i was a CHH artist. Regardless, im still gonna listen to Hulvey, and I dont think this tarnishes his discography. I pray Ciara actually does grows and matures in her walk with Christ.
I'm torn tbh. Idek what to think. On one hand, you can know a person by their fruits. On the other hand, people mess up and struggle with sin. I know I do.
I don't think we should advertise people who are struggling this much with sin. Help them in the background first, then they can help others.

People who are bothered by vibration language are literally triggered by the term, but this just band wagoning because someone told them it was bad or because they see new agers use such terms and aasume it must evil. Everything is vibrating and yes spiritual vibration is a thing but this doesn't mean we have special powers or can attract things with our thoughts. All of creation was spoken into existence, speaking is a vibration. Further more music has direct effects on our mental and spiritual state and music is vibration. There are verses in Proverbs about wisdom and righteousness causing ones countenance to shine differently. There is the reference to the silver cord of the soul in Ecclesiastes. What im saying is its not an unbiblical concept even if it is often applied in ubbiblical ways by pagans.
Casting judgment on one side of your mouth while criticizing judgment on the other. In a sense, the followers comments are a reflection of the one thst they follow. Maybe with a year or two delay. Prayerfully, the followers trajectory will be more like Christ and less like Ruslan from this year to next.
