When the Indian woman said "I feel pretty," All I could say was. "You ARE pretty! before AND after!
You are right...
that Indian look isn't ancient... we still dress up like that in weddings or any occasions in sub continent..
Exactly my point.
Exactly. India’s culture is ancient however. It was important to mention in the video that we still keep our culture and traditions alive.
Kaniz Afroz it wasn’t meant to be ancient, it was meant to be cultural
@@Astonthepunk I don't think you understand what historical means
It never said it WAS ancient
Indian style shown here is nothing. Historical Indian fashion is far stylish and rich.
Exactly. We have such a beautiful culture.
My point exactly!
Yes. She might have worn more jewelry
the Indian is so gorgeous!! she looked great!
Ikr
+Elizabeth Styles yup she looks awesome :)
YAS
+Appleman5678 What do you mean?
+Appleman5678 plastic... like a toy?
well now that you aren't able to digest the fact that Indian women are that gorgeous... you will give that reason?
"I feel pretty" first of all that was really cute and second of all you should always feel like that even without makeup because everyone it beautiful
bless this comment
Over all your grammar is good, but you should consider replacing "like" for "as". Also you forgot a period.
Smeow time ooooh you got me there frickin grammar police
Alli ok fine! i know nothing about grammar!
Alli Aww thanks!!! And you as well
Gorgeous! I would be so interested in seeing many other nationalities too!I love learning about other cultures and I think this is a very neat way to do it.
Swamptreader
Yess
The Indian one looks the best
Seeing what a traditional look for a woman of high social status would have looked like teaches little about a particular culture. More politely than another post-read a book. This here is just fun with makeup, not educational.
Barbara Danley Honestly, I kinda wish people still dressed nice like they used to along time ago...
Head jewelry definitely needs to be more of a thing! >_
+PongoXBongo agreed!
I agree
+PongoXBongo Yeah. That would be so cool! Like with the Indian and Chinese head jewelry.
Yes please!
+PongoXBongo Yep.
i'm Egyptian and i would honestly love trying on actual ancient egyptian fashion idk
Same!
I'm half egyptian and half persian and i love the ancient Egypt.. I'm sure you'd look really beautiful if you try that
That would be so cool to see! Buzzfeed, can you please do this??
Me too!
I am Egyptian 2
Why do people always try to make things "racist"? I'm Hispanic and my thought process never went to "why wasn't there a Hispanic girl!" I actually only wanted to see more transformations in general.
Edit: Since people don't seem to understand what I meant, I shall clear it up. I am referring to those people who saw this video and thought automatically that it was a racist video just because their race wasn't shown. I'm sure I wrote this in the comments below too but I guess I should've expected no one would read that first before commenting assuming I'm as ignorant as the people claiming this is racist. =_=
Como dont be selfish i am hispanic too and i dont care let them their is not gonna be allways a hispanic girl
livanny Vargas did you not read my comment fully orrr....?
Nienne the Archer now i get apologize for it.
Nienne the Archer I think you're right. I'm a black girl and I have no complaints about this video I thought it was great. Not everyone has to be included all the time, you know?
Nienne the Archer well theres mulitple versions of latino heritage attire but that a good idea nie
I hope that they can make a part two showing those of African, Native American, and Hispanic historical looks. They'd be beautiful as these ladies were. :)
True! I would love to see like a Mexican women or something if they make a part 2. It would be awesome to See that part of my heritage sense I'm Mexicana (:
Reyna Reyes I'm sure that it'd be a beautiful image. :)
Funaho H Hispanic is a little more tricky since it is not really a race nor a single culture. Hispanic is used to classify people who come from a country that speaks Spanish regardless of ethnic or racial background.
Indeed, more cultures would be great! I love seeing the diversity that humanity has always been steeped in. I wonder how they would portray Native American. There are over 500 tribes recognized by the federal gov't, but there are countless others that still aren't recognized by the gov't as well. It would be tricky to just pick one and be like "this is representative of ALL NATIVES in the US!" You know?
nizhoni1616 I think that wouldn't be much different from what they did here, though. They chose a specific time period, so they might as well choose a more specific place on top of that, right? I mean, with the English girl, they re-crated Elizabeth I. - that's awfully specific.
Indian culture is so beautiful
Yes thank you so much ❤
I am also an Indian
Thanx.
Pst.Its Bengali.
@@magiveem bengal is a part of India idiot
The English girl looks like Effie Trinket
פך
Yeah without the SUPER LONG NAILS
you're right
Yesss
+girlysword I think the make up artist did an amazing job.
I didn't think the English girl could look paler...until the after transformation.
Edit: Uh guys, I didn't say it was a bad thing to be pale? Y'all need to pay attention to profile pictures: I'm as pale as she is.
She's American.
And she's Irish so yea answer that question.
Her roots are from northern erope and i love pale skin soooo
Yes, I know she's American, but they did an English heritage transformation, so I called her the "English" girl.
RACIST!
People...stop throwing racist around because they didn't include a few (hundreds) heritages. You people have no idea what racism is...it's just a card you are too quick to play.
"You people" I'm assuming you don't know what racism is, probably never even experienced it
k f yeah keep digging and pick apart my words when you don't have a legit reply. In addition for your information, my wife and I are a mixed couple with mixed kids. So yes, I have experienced it and this video is not racist.
mongojerry72
yeah cause it definitely doesn't look like you're talking directly to Black people. You act as if it cant easily be misconstrued. N just cause you're a mixed couple doesn't mean anything. Have you experienced racism towards you individually? This video isn't racist but racism is NOT some card that could be played.
You're right they just picked 3 well rounded ones that cover the basic cultures.
Tate Jordan ... "the basic cultures"
HAH.
The Chinese and Indian ones were sooo pretty and intriguing. The English one was pretty but I'm pretty much used to seeing that in history so I really wasn't that surprised tbh
I'm 5 percent Chinese, 92 percent Malaysian, 3 percent milk and water
hahah!! .
Awesome! Lol
I'm 95 percent Indonesian and 5 percent a dragon.
+Putera Haziman I have a question. If you weigh 90 pounds, and you eat 10 pounds of chocolate, does that mean you are 10% chocolate?
No. The chocolate will just go out of your body, by using poop.
I would have liked to see a black lady representing beautiful African heritage, because I feel kind of feel excluded now. Still, I enjoyed seeing other ladies' beautiful heritages. Buzzfeed, will you be making another video with a black, hispanic, and maybe Native American girl? Thanks!
They should! Oh gosh that'll be pretty cool if they do, all of those heritages i imagine would have beautiful outcomes
They wouldn't be able to "research" the history of a typical black American because that got erased once they brought us to the USA. no black American has a clue even where their ancestors are from (as in what exact country in Africa) now a actually African American(a African who can trace their roots directly Because them, their parents, grandparents, came to the U.S. Within the last 100 or so years)
Demetrius Davis How about a more recent African immigrant? Who's parents or grandparent immigrated to America voluntarily and not as slaves? That's what I mean.
...
Grace Brainerd African cultures do use makeup you know, and that's what I would like them to show in the video: African heritage, not slave heritage.
Man, the second women was beyond gorgeous. She looked so divine in that style of makeup.
women?
....as in female..
you mean woman.
The redhead? She was beautiful😊
Aria-senpai She was referring that you used the plural form of "Woman".
WomÅn = Singular
WomÉn = Plural
~A fellow Grammarian.
The Indian girl "I feel pretty" that was so cute❤️
I'm 75% water I don't know about you
omfg XD
Yaaaass XD
2beafree im 95% fire 😂
Haha true 😂
I am 86% air.
India, and China could walk out the door and basically fit right in, in the city scene.
English, girl though is a bit dated. but had the biggest transformation in the video.
she looks hot in my opinio.
*opinion
I would have to disagree with you. I'm Indian I get different looks even if I'm wearing normal American clothes. I have to say all three couldn't just walk into a city ect.
Minus the necklaces and lipstick the English girl would fit in fine.
How was the middle girl lying about her heritage lmao
After reading some of these comments, I think you guys really should consider making this into a series where you guys focus on cultural beauty/heritage from all different kinds of countries. I seriously loved this vid, but I do agree that we all would like to see even more girls with even more varied skin tones (especially the dark ones) being represented here. Who else thinks that'd be a good idea? :D
I'd personally like to see some traditional Caribbean beauty cuz that's where my dad and his family are from (i.e. Haiti, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic).
DetectiveTective agreed! if you haven't seen them yet, cut video does different episodes of "100 years of beauty" where they model people from different countries/cultures from the 1910s to present day.
***** I did see it! Their vids are awesome too! I can't wait for the next ones they come out with!
***** That's awesome! I have some friends who have family ties to Puerto Rico and Trini too! :D
DetectiveTective It would be funny if we got to see something from my home land, Romania...
Yes I would love to see Hispanic culture in there especially since mine is Dominican
The indian girl looked stunning!
Traditional Indian fashion is so cool.
i love everyone in this world.
Besides gays, jews, whites, blacks, mexicans, indians, liberals, muslims, catholics, baptists, transexuals, lesbians, republicans, conservatives, and democrats.
ir333d no
I'm glad you feel that way :)
Oh and I almost forgot, Asians.
ir333d nope. we all the same. and we all deserve love.
i'm muslim by the way :-)
The Elizabethan one looked like she was from the Capitol
Crundee. She means the Capitol in hunger games which is a popular book
Elisabeth Kelley 1:20 Effie Trinket.
Elisabeth Kelley the lips
May the ods be evah in yo favor
Elisabeth wind
I volunteer as tribute!!
Fine Luna wind
The Indian head piece is absolutely fabulous I must say!?😂
The Indian girl looks amazing!
Is it just me or did the white girl look like Effie Trinket from the hunger games after the transformation?
OMG yes!
thats what i was thinking!! xD (no offence tho)
the lips were the major contributing factor
Yeah, it was her inauthentic hyper-styled 18th century lips (Elizabeth I was 16th).
I laughed so loud
The Indian chick is missing like 6 arms. Historic figure transformation fail.
That's racist..the God's don't really have 6 arms, the have the power of 6 arms.
That was one of their gods
Arianna Twoshoes *sniff* *sniff* smells like troll? Or are you literally so dumb you think he's serious.
As you can see we have a dumbass among us.
okay, you're my personal comment of the day:D (even tho it's 1 week old)
So everyone in mumbai is hindu.. *Facepalm*
Dafaq are you saying girl ?
She was saying that it was mainly Hindu so they were going with that look
don't be a fool. Indian is the nationality, Hindu is the religion, which comes with certain cultural elements in clothing. There are Muslims Indians and Hindu Indians, and their traditions are different. That's why she needed to clarify she was Hindu, so that we realize the clothing and make-up we're looking at has the attributes of the Hindu Vedic religion, that is, the most ancient and traditional elements in India, before Islam arrived.
im atheist indian
Exactly I am from gujarat and I am also Hindu btw hi armyy!!
Hi army ! Nice to meet you . :)
that Indian woman is damn beautiful .
The Indian girl looked AMAZING
I like when people talk about their heritage, but I've seen a lot of negativity towards white people saying their heritage such as being irish or german, etc., and how they should just say white...but there is a lot of different "white" cultures.
+Anika L I think the problem with us "normal boring white people" is that some (and I especially get that vibe in the US) get off on saying "I am 12% of this and 3 % of this on my mother's mother's side of the family and then third Cherokee and I also have a cousin who is fond of maybe being related to a Chinese guy on his cousin's father's side of the family".
Just be you. If you're a mix of different cultures, that's fine, if you're not, that's also fine.
To identify with all those little percentages of people who might have influenced your family tree 500 years back, that's just ridiculous.
Amen.
Anika L I personally think, that american who’s heritage is for example german, is not german if his great great great great.... grandfather came to America from Germany. If doesn’t have the culture and haven’t grown up in it, he is not german, he is american. The reasons why for example american-mexican people identify as mexicans, is because they have the mexican culture. I’m finnish/cuban but I identify as Finnish cause I live in Finland and I’ve mostly grown up around Finnish culture and people.
the indian one was soo gorgoues
the Indian woman is so gorgeous
The Indian girl looked gorgeous! 😍
The indian is so gorgeous!
They all were so pretty =D I love these kinds of videos. And (saying this as a black woman), I'm glad Buzzfeed isn't falling into the 'hate all whites' trend that's so prevalent today (i know this is from last year, but you get my point) by including them in their culture and diversity videos. That's what diversity is: showing off all the diversion and differences between ALL races and ALL cultures and, whether activists like it or not, that does include the huge number of races that are known as 'white'. People are so busy fighting hate with hate nowadays, it's nice to see that not happening in Buzzfeed videos.
Ashley Collier I agree
Guys we made it before Immajeanyus and Lauren Sabino BE PROUD
PREACH IT XD
Who's a jeanyus now?!?!
** immajeanyus
😂😂😂
They haven't had a top comment for awhile... Just once in a while. Now it's that kelly girl, or whatever her name is.
lol white people be like "soo im like 13% irish, 3% scottish" like u is white
black people be like "soo im like 13% nigerian, 3% somali" like u is black
TheDistractingGamer mate I've never ever come across any black person saying that, it's mainly white people saying I'm half Irish, half Australian blah blah bs....lol.
TheDistractingGamer says no black person ever...
TheDistractingGamer
No Black person ever says that lol Nice try troll
I've heard white Americans say this quite a bit and think this might just be an American thing. Some white Europeans in Europe might mention a grandparent who is not from their native country but mostly if you're English or Scottish or Welsh for example you're just English or Scottish or Welsh.
Asian look is really cool! liked it most
Morana Enchanted we are fabulous but everyone is too
That Thing lol
I'm really glad for you all that you liked this video too
Olive not technically it is (not trying to be mean I swear)
Morana Enchanted that was the most boring one lol
0:00 to 0:08 okay they just showed us the whole video. I guess I can go to college humor now
i'd be stoked to see any of these looks walkin down the streets, i wish people weren't so hesitant to look out of place
I wear African clothes outside the house whenever I can. I ain't shy to show my culture to people
Omg India though 😍🇮🇳
People here be like:
I'm actually 20% irish, 12% german, 9% Arabic, 7% russian, 5% Italian, 3% milk...
What's wrong with just saying American? Yes, maybe when your parents are from china it makes you a bit chinese too but going so far back to the ancestors is just ridiculous.
I'm german, my ancestors were from the Netherlands and Prussia but I still just say I'm german because I AM. I was born here, raised here. When there's no reason to count all this ethnicity then where's the point?
+Luxbecca because maybe some people want to know about their heritage and what different ethnicities came together to make them
I doubt that these people practice traditions from about 5 heritages and I strongly assume that some are invented. There's nothing wrong with being proud where you come from, but does it make sense to say your from Germany when your great great great grandpa married a German woman? It's a difficult topic but I think some of these comments are a bit too far from reality
American is not an ethnicity.
3% milk lmaooo
my great great grandma is dutch and my paternal ancestor is Portuguese but i just tell people I'm indonesian cause i am lmao nobody's gonna be like ooh I'm so and so but my great great grand ma is so and my great great great grandpa is so and adam is my ancestor lol
I loved the Indian look 😍
0:36 The chinese girl is SO beautiful without makeup!
I mean more beautiful than with makeup :)
ik
Agreed
1:01 Perfect example of someone who looks better with little to no makeup
She looks stunning both ways.
"Elizabeth" looks like Missy (from Doctor Who) as a redhead.
i have found my people. whovians unite!
Catie the Scribble Geronimo.
+heatherjasper97 Fantastic!
Catie the Scribble Bananas are good.
+heatherjasper97 i forgot to take a banana to the last party i went to D:
they are all beautiful
The first like 20 seconds of the video all i thought was: Cleopatra, Queen Victoria, Mulan. and that's what i thought this video was going to be.
The indian girl looks so pretty
THAT GIRL IS THE DAUGHTER OF MARKSON MARK TUAN AND JACKSON WANG HER MOM IS MARK AND HER DAD IS JACKSON omfg damn im smart
KPOPPER ARE GONNA RULE THE WORLD
OH HELL YEA(?)
The red haired girl looked so amazing she should wear that every day :D
Amazing how women back then look as good as today standards!
Ikr
Idk wtf you'd call me, I'm various things, Italian, French, Irish, Scottish, born in Kenya, raised in Southern England...
Ola Alfred Skin colour actually has little to do with your heritage. Don't categorize peoples heritage by the colour of their skin.
The culture in Europe tended to be a bit similar since they were all exposed to each other's clothes and art style. So it would look a bit like the Caucasian girl's looks.
.
.
White
They all look beautiful, before and after transforming
I'm literally one race not a mix of anything.
exactly same here
Same :( boring AF XD
It's not boring, it's cool. You can think of yourself as a purebred. Not that you're any worse if you're not. Georgie The Cat
+Domo Girl Right, I'm fully Dominican
+Georgie The Cat I don't think it's boring :) I'm a mix of Maori, Scottish and German. But where I'm from its way too common to be mixed. I've never met anyone that was just one Ethnicity. Own it! :)
I'm German Italian English. I have no idea how that would turn out 😶
I'm American, German, Spanish, Irish, British and Polish...... How would THAT turn out?!? Lololol
I'm Polish. lol
alexia barnes It'll turn out beautiful =D
alexia barnes wow, beg.
***** Lol
who else love indian style ???
Indian is super pretty
I love it so much! They all look so beautiful and I like that the looks weren't overdone :D
the Indian one isn't far off from what happens in today's society though
Today's way of do traditional Indian styling is way better the what ever they just did. It looked so cheap. While Indians bride themselves with expensive dress. Especially traditional beauty standards. Hello People Mortgage their house to make up that beauty. It goes more than that (it isn't just superficial) And same with the Chinese lady. Beauty standards were made by the rich. Obviously they didn't have anyone that wasn't European on these designs. Because she was the only one that looked expensive and with in the right time period. I don't even think Buzzfeed or people that don't care about history realize how this inaccurate description is a little offensive. Maybe my expectations were to high, but then I saw the European one and felt offended.
Annonymous5411 they're not gonna spend a lot of money to buy expensive garments. I'm sure what the European wore was more in budget/available. Please be considerate of these things. They obviously had no intention to offend anyone.
crazysox305 I didn't say they had to be expensive, but look expensive. It can be done. Just like the European one.
mm yes it is. Nobody wears a headpiece like that unless it's their wedding or something special. Everyday-wear is different. And the styles differ depending on the region you live. It can mess up your stereotypes if you go there yourself. Like if you head to NE India, where your stereotypical indian look mashes with your stereotypical "Asian" look, how would this video be regarded then? An East Asian lookin woman wearing Indian clothes? That's how reality works. BuzzFeed is pro at clickbait. anyway...
thewaysofmylife That's not true. if it were my whole family would be dressing in 50 pound jewellery every fricking day in uncomfortable clothes. Please actually learn facts before you comment.
I wish they'd done something with a woman who is Mexican.
me too
I LOVED the Indian and Chinese one
what does she mean by she is from Mumbai and that makes her Hindu?
come on don't say things like this on an american channel..there are so many religions in India and Mumbai is one of the major cities u see most of the religions.. all in one place...
True!! No place like Mumbai, ever!!
P.S. Are you a fellow Mumbaiite?
Agreed
that's what i came here to say. and also it's not really a traditional indian look. india has a variety of looks!
to find offence in everything is an art
Glad somebody pointed this out...
All three of these are so authentic. Beautiful.
1:18 And honey, you should see me in a crown
Love how she said "like the Queen, darling."
1:36 "it's so cool" That reminded me so much of Taylor Swift for some reason gosh
Oh my goodness I love this! :D I'm korean and I love love love all their looks it's so beautiful and amazing!
These girls are freaking GORGEOUS
I think they all look absolutely stunning!!! There should be more parts to these..
The Elizabeth one was definitely the best transformation!
i wanna see a middle eastern look! i want to see someone that looks ancient hebrew
and i want to see russian ^-^!
If they did middle eastern theres about a 99.99% chance there are probably gonna be alot of hate comments about middle easterns and muslims (i mean since apparently islam is only a middle eastern thing lol)
Lizzy m i don't really care about muslims
i want to see jewish.
The middle eastern one will probably look like a human shaped black sheet
Ýøų_måđ_břö thats muslim, i don't care about muslim i want jewish.
Ýøų_måđ_břö umm sir you need to shut the f up please, thanks! :D
The second girl really looks like a queen omg
The Tang Dynasty really hit me hard and made me cry a little.. I am adopted from China, and I do not know my real parents.. Seeing what I could look like if I were in those times made me feel like I was home.. Just seeing how she looked took my breath away. So gorgeous..
I would love to see this being made into a series! They're all so beautiful *^*
I love the headpiece the Indian girl was wearing. I'd like to find a way to wear something similar without appropriating.
idk... I thought I'd find positive and nicer comments about the video, like appreciating the fact that they turned historical figures into a modern fashion. I'm noticing a lot of people listing off what's in their BLOODLINE, but (historical) bloodline has nothing to do with heritage and culture, you grow up with that. I was born in the U.S. but my heritage and culture is of Salvadorian descant, there is Central Native American, Portuguese, Spaniard and Italian in my historical BLOODLINE. but that doesn't make me all of those things. Don't confuse culture and heritage, with your historical/racial BLOODLINE. also any PoC getting upset that there wasn't a black person, or Hispanic & complaining...etc this was just a quick video to demonstrate historical figures on today women. yeah sure they didn't include more races/cultures but there's several there aren't just ONE not every white person is the same, not every tanned skinned person is Hispanic, and not every black person is African.
VERY well said, culture is what you actually practice and grew up practicing based on your heritage, like the food you cook and eat, the types of dances you do, what you decorate your home with, your religion, and languages you speak.
So nationality vs. ethnicity? Im confused about what you mean
+Sydney R. yeah basically. our nationality has nothing to do with our ethnicity. I have relatives that are Italian, doesn't make me part of their culture or tradition.
I'm obsessed with historical fashion and makeup. Please make more :)
They all look so stunning and so beautiful, just gorgeous!!! 😍😍😍
India is the prettiest
They should've brought an African and Latina girl. I have Mayan roots and Nigerian roots so that would've been really cool.
I love this video so much please do a part 2 with more cultures buzzfeed
The lady with the Scottish, Irish, English heritage had this commanding look after they finished! It gave me chills (not offensively, I felt really amazed at the change! It was so cool and beautiful)
The Indian one looked cool
they should've picked a scandinavian! More vikings on the internet pls!
Yeah totally!! Drottning Kristina
Yes, I'm Scandinavian so that would have been cool.
Vikings for life
yes. yes 500
yoube
Everyone here looks stunning! Along with there culture too... Amazing..
They all looked absolutely stunning! I loved this it was really interesting
Im Italian... So I'd be very VERY colorful. But I love the glitz of the English outfit and Hindu
Everyone's all like I'm European, Dutch, Italian, Russian, English, Indian, etc and I'm just chilling in the corner like 100% Korean
Omg I just love these history-related Buzzfeed videos xDD
Wow, they all look so beautiful, I love the looks so much!
I loved how the Indian woman looked...simply breathtaking ...
*waits for the racist comments*
