I mean people who the only thing their confident abt is their hair. So sometimes, it's very important, and it *does* matter.
Also, not everyone's hair grows as fast as average. It literally took me 4 years to grow back out a side shave, and it was still only to just below my jawline. So when I get my hair cut, I know I'm going to have to deal with the consequences for at least a year. I have a friend whose hair grows super fast. Like I'll see her in the summer with a pixie cut, and by Christmas she's got a long bob. I'm not joking; that would take me YEARS to grow back. It's so not fair.
well .. that's a rather stupid argument , and i will explain why: If you go to shoot a video, in which you give your permission to be cut the way they want. there is absolutely nothing to complain after. So yea, they will regrow. Its a legit comment in this case. Only people who got Forced to cut their hair, will have the problem you're talking about.
I would not let this guy anywhere near my hair. The majority of these cuts and styles do not suit the person or their lifestyle. I don't think he looked at his clients personally here. He just did whatever he wanted!

As a black woman with natural hair, I'm all for rocking a full on fro but the way they did the black woman's hair just felt like they didn't even try or they didn't know what to do with it... :( EDIT: Like, her hair doesn't even look an even length or like her straight ends were cut off all the way.
***** This was my main critique too. They claimed they evened it out and shaped it but that wasn't even a half decent fro. The ends were uneven, some parts looked thinned and patchy and there was no shaping whatsoever. What a terrible fail.

It's the same exact concept of yeah all primary physicians should be able to help you to some extent but if you have a heart problem you're gonna want to see a cardiologist asap. What should have happened was she should have been sent to someone who works with her kind of texture on a weekly - if not daily - basis, that way her hair could have turned out phenomenal. A lot better than if she just went to a hair stylist who is too busy trying to accommodate ALL hair types and ends up wearing his/herself thin and not being able to excel in any particular hair type at all resulting in her just getting an "eh, it's alright" haircut.

Wow, speaking as a black woman with natural hair, there are so many better styles they could have gone for, it was clear that she didn't like it at all and no wonder. A lot of black hair actually looks great if you wash it and then put a good gel through it (like Eco gel) or a natural curl enhancer like Miss Jessie's curly pudding or something like that. And when it dries, the hair has natural wavesk and coils and they're all shiny and pretty. I mean we've all seen some black women who have natural hair that looks amazing and a lot of them literally just do something called a "wash and go" where you wash the hair, use a product or two, rake your fingers through your hair and let it dry. This was really terrible. Also, he shaved that woman's hair way too short. WAY too short. The only way this style works is if he'd added some sort of vibrant punkrock type color to her hair. He could have left a cm or two there. Man. Terrible makeovers.

I'm irritated with how they handed the natural hair. Give her a braid out, a twist out, bantu knots, perm rods. Yes fros are nice, but I felt that was just very careless and it looks like they just put her hair out of the weave and called it a day. Ugh.

And I agree, that hairstyle is a great way to draw attention to bad skin, very few people have the bone structure and good skin to carry off a shaved head.

I dyed my hair for like four years then decided to bleach it and it got ruined. It’s pretty curly so I couldn’t don a short cut but I was always get 2-3 inches cut at a time. Last time i colored my hair was February 2015 and it’s been healthy ever sense then since I started to take care of it

Really, I’m disappointed. I would have kept the virgin hair and just deep conditioned it, cut it shoulder length, some choppy layers and maybe if she wanted a fringe. That just ruined it.

Actually I have a color very similar to that and it looks amazing on me. Not one person has said anything bad about it and in fact everyone has said how absolutely amazing it looks. So yes that color does work for some people
The ex-blonde girl's hair is actually not going to be as damaged as you may think because since she is already blonde, he only had to use a Demi permanent color which only deposits color into the hair and does not lift. If she would have had dark brown hair, her hair may have been damaged because she would have had to get it bleached first in order for him to get the shade of red he was looking for. Her hair actually looks very healthy in the end result.

I'm fairly sure her hair wasnt supposed to be styled at all. It was more so to show that natural hair can be as long and full bodied as a white girls. A lot of times black girls, as you know, are told that theyre hair isnt good when its natural and they should relax and cover it. Admittedly, it didnt look as styled as the rest but it was really done to show her that having curly free hair is just as ok as having straight hair and she should feel comfortable having her hair be the way it is the grows from her scalp.

I hate hairdressers because when they see my hair they don't want to give me what I want. I've lived my life in a ponytail and at least 5 different hairdressers don't give me what I ask for, short hair. True, my hair is curly and frizzy, but I can't keep tying my hair up just to get rid of it. I ask and ask and they just trim it. If I made a mistake, let it be MY mistake, don't decide how to wear my hair whether it's curling it more or straightening it or whatever. Everyone says they want my hair, well have it cause I don't.
Maybe you could cut your hair short by yourself and then let a hairdresser fix it? They can't really do anything else then, if it's already cut... Still if you ask them to cut your hair short, they should doit, regardless of their own preferences I mean they get paid for this...
I know how you feel. I've gone to a hair salon a few time where I tell the stylist what I want and they always say "Hm, well i think you should do this..." Or "Well, that won't work." Like, I understand they might be right in some cases, but you are paying them. And like you said, if you make a mistake, it's your mistake. Only last week I went to a different hair stylist and she actually cut my hair the way I asked her to and I love her. I've never had a style like my current one before and I feel good about it. Whereas my last few experiences my hair has always come out looking the same.

(but after years of going to beauty salons, i started doing everything myself, why? because most stylists are chicken shit and never want to go too far) so I say go for it, and don't think about it.
KeepMovingOn If you don't want to commit to a change, you can always try on different wigs and see what works for you. My sister hates her hair color (dark brown) but doesn't want to damage it by dyeing it, so she bought a black and purple wig that looks fantastic on her.

I dyed my hair when I was 12, was originally blonde. Dyed it dark brown. I have thin, long, straight hair and it didn't damage or anything. I mean of course it did damage it a little because you're dying it, but it's not "oh god what happened to your hair man!?"

I've always had straight, thin, long hair. I dye it very frequently and I'm contemplating a pixie cut, I've always vowed to never cut my hair short because i wouldn't want it but for some reason I feel a lot more confident about it and I think I'll try it next time.
I cut my hair nice and short and it looks wonderful! I get compliments from strangers frequently and it's very low maintenance. I would totally try it as long as you trust your stylist. My advice is to find a picture of a pixie cut you like on someone else and bring it in, show it to your stylist and ask what she thinks. If you do I right I promise you won't regret it B)

I got my hair cut like Yukis about 2 years ago (and it has only just grown back to the same length, actually its still a bit shorter than before, ugghhh, basically its down to my shoulders) and at first I hated having shorter hair (by a few inches, lol) but then I grew to love it shorter! And still do! Short hair ftw! x3
Specially for Matt, he was very well on the previous style, the beard shaped his face and actually made him look thinner. I wonder how many friends looked at him and sighed "Oh, he's gaining weight again..."

+BQADDeftones i'm a natural blonde (just a little darker and more ash-toned than the woman in the video) and i've been dying my hair dark red for years (sometimes brown, sometimes purple, but mostly red.) and it's a nightmare to maintain. it fades fast, and if you're not careful, it gets kinda brassy looking. dying my hair's definitely messed up the texture a lot too i think, i used to have fairly curly hair, but now it's kinda just vaguely wavy at best. i do love the way red looks though on me so i guess it's the sacrifice i have to make 😞
The second to last girl was the only one that looked relatively well done, and there was barely any change to it. Shaving that one girls side that close to the scalp was NOT the best idea.
This is horrible. Why does every hairstylist need to cut your hair short in order to do a makeover? 'hair grows back', um yeah, in like 3 years. The far worst hair makeovers i have ever seen.

***** i honestly believe that that is just impossible. Hair grows on average i think half an inch a month. Most people who can't grow out their hair aren't taking good care of it-using bleach, using a lot of heath or cutting great lengths of their hair every month or so

Also, not everyone's hair grows as fast as average. It literally took me 4 years to grow back out a side shave, and it was still only to just below my jawline. So when I get my hair cut, I know I'm going to have to deal with the consequences for at least a year. I have a friend whose hair grows super fast. Like I'll see her in the summer with a pixie cut, and by Christmas she's got a long bob. I'm not joking; that would take me YEARS to grow back. It's so not fair.

If you go to shoot a video, in which you give your permission to be cut the way they want. there is absolutely nothing to complain after.

While that would be nice in an ideal world it's probably better that it DOESN'T work out that way. It's the same exact concept of yeah all primary physicians should be able to help you to some extent but if you have a heart problem you're gonna want to see a cardiologist asap.
What should have happened was she should have been sent to someone who works with her kind of texture on a weekly - if not daily - basis, that way her hair could have turned out phenomenal. A lot better than if she just went to a hair stylist who is too busy trying to accommodate ALL hair types and ends up wearing his/herself thin and not being able to excel in any particular hair type at all resulting in her just getting an "eh, it's alright" haircut.

Wow, speaking as a black woman with natural hair, there are so many better styles they could have gone for, it was clear that she didn't like it at all and no wonder. A lot of black hair actually looks great if you wash it and then put a good gel through it (like Eco gel) or a natural curl enhancer like Miss Jessie's curly pudding or something like that. And when it dries, the hair has natural wavesk and coils and they're all shiny and pretty. I mean we've all seen some black women who have natural hair that looks amazing and a lot of them literally just do something called a "wash and go" where you wash the hair, use a product or two, rake your fingers through your hair and let it dry. This was really terrible.
Also, he shaved that woman's hair way too short. WAY too short. The only way this style works is if he'd added some sort of vibrant punkrock type color to her hair. He could have left a cm or two there. Man. Terrible makeovers.

The ex-blonde girl's hair is actually not going to be as damaged as you may think because since she is already blonde, he only had to use a Demi permanent color which only deposits color into the hair and does not lift. If she would have had dark brown hair, her hair may have been damaged because she would have had to get it bleached first in order for him to get the shade of red he was looking for. Her hair actually looks very healthy in the end result.

I'm fairly sure her hair wasnt supposed to be styled at all. It was more so to show that natural hair can be as long and full bodied as a white girls. A lot of times black girls, as you know, are told that theyre hair isnt good when its natural and they should relax and cover it. Admittedly, it didnt look as styled as the rest but it was really done to show her that having curly free hair is just as ok as having straight hair and she should feel comfortable having her hair be the way it is the grows from her scalp.
Tayla A as a Black woman with the same texture and having a channel that was once dedicated to provide info for women like Daysha...this was foul & disrespectful. That's not even how her hair naturally grows from her scalp. Had they washed it and properly moisturized it, it would have a much better shape to it.

I hate hairdressers because when they see my hair they don't want to give me what I want. I've lived my life in a ponytail and at least 5 different hairdressers don't give me what I ask for, short hair. True, my hair is curly and frizzy, but I can't keep tying my hair up just to get rid of it. I ask and ask and they just trim it. If I made a mistake, let it be MY mistake, don't decide how to wear my hair whether it's curling it more or straightening it or whatever. Everyone says they want my hair, well have it cause I don't.
Maybe you could cut your hair short by yourself and then let a hairdresser fix it?
They can't really do anything else then, if it's already cut...
Still if you ask them to cut your hair short, they should doit, regardless of their own preferences

I know how you feel. I've gone to a hair salon a few time where I tell the stylist what I want and they always say "Hm, well i think you should do this..." Or "Well, that won't work." Like, I understand they might be right in some cases, but you are paying them. And like you said, if you make a mistake, it's your mistake. Only last week I went to a different hair stylist and she actually cut my hair the way I asked her to and I love her. I've never had a style like my current one before and I feel good about it. Whereas my last few experiences my hair has always come out looking the same.
That's too bad you live far away, I am a hair stylist and I am always very open on what my clients want. As I always say, its your happiness that matters!

I expected more out of a celebrity hair stylist other than a wash and thats it. He did the same to the other gurl. Shaved half of her entire head off and then curled it. Anybody can scrunch their hair with hands and curl. It just looked unkempt. The girl with the blow up got the best/ most effort put into her head.

Yeah I think he shouldn't have shaved the one girl's hair all the way (i have a side cut but it's buzzed not shaved) and also the girl he did the red on had all the redness in her face showing because of the color.

so I say go for it, and don't think about it.
KeepMovingOn If you don't want to commit to a change, you can always try on different wigs and see what works for you. My sister hates her hair color (dark brown) but doesn't want to damage it by dyeing it, so she bought a black and purple wig that looks fantastic on her.

I dyed my hair when I was 12, was originally blonde. Dyed it dark brown. I have thin, long, straight hair and it didn't damage or anything. I mean of course it did damage it a little because you're dying it, but it's not "oh god what happened to your hair man!?"

I've always had straight, thin, long hair. I dye it very frequently and I'm contemplating a pixie cut, I've always vowed to never cut my hair short because i wouldn't want it but for some reason I feel a lot more confident about it and I think I'll try it next time.

I cut my hair nice and short and it looks wonderful! I get compliments from strangers frequently and it's very low maintenance. I would totally try it as long as you trust your stylist. My advice is to find a picture of a pixie cut you like on someone else and bring it in, show it to your stylist and ask what she thinks. If you do I right I promise you won't regret it B)

I got my hair cut like Yukis about 2 years ago (and it has only just grown back to the same length, actually its still a bit shorter than before, ugghhh, basically its down to my shoulders) and at first I hated having shorter hair (by a few inches, lol) but then I grew to love it shorter! +BQADDeftones i'm a natural blonde (just a little darker and more ash-toned than the woman in the video) and i've been dying my hair dark red for years (sometimes brown, sometimes purple, but mostly red.) and it's a nightmare to maintain. it fades fast, and if you're not careful, it gets kinda brassy looking. dying my hair's definitely messed up the texture a lot too i think, i used to have fairly curly hair, but now it's kinda just vaguely wavy at best. i do love the way red looks though on me so i guess it's the sacrifice i have to make 😞

The second to last girl was the only one that looked relatively well done, and there was barely any change to it. Shaving that one girls side that close to the scalp was NOT the best idea.

***** i honestly believe that that is just impossible. Hair grows on average i think half an inch a month. Most people who can't grow out their hair aren't taking good care of it-using bleach, using a lot of heath or cutting great lengths of their hair every month or so

I really dislike the half shaven head! It reminds me of those he/she's from old carnivals. Plus, it puts the focus on her acne scars. (I sympathize; I have them too.) Shame on him for choosing that style! She needed a softer short cut on her right side.
