1st gear doesn't shut a valve, it enables all 4 cylinders. (2 cylinders in nuetral) the exhaust mapping removes this feature and enables all 4 cylinders at all times.

Okay. The Ducati tech is the one who told me about the valve. Thanks

Thanks for the video. Quick one for you. The pipe on the lower right hand-side are not covered. I was wondering if you experienced some heat radiance around your right foot?

Now if it only didn't cost over 7,000 dollars... much cheaper options that sound as good or better and remove similar weight. Personally i would go with the Austin Racing GP3 DE-CAT EXHAUST SYSTEM which would set you back around 2500 dollars still not cheap but much better value Imo... it also saves around 12.2 lbs. and gives similar performance improvements.

I hear ya. It is expensive. A couple of things I considered when going with the Akrapovic is it a Ducati listed option and comes with a Ducati tune. The bike needs a tune to get the full benefit of the exhaust. Most importantly, since this is a Ducati option, Ducati will honor the factory warranty if the engine blows. I am not sure what Ducati would do in case of different tune. I almost learned this the hard way with the S1000R. BMW found the tune on the BMW and would not honor the repair ($15k new engine). Luckily, the dealership successfully argued that the rocker arm recall was the cause of the bent valve and BMW eventually agreed to replace the engine. My point is, "How much risk are you willing to take with a future loss?" Like insurance, the more $ premium the less risk of loss.

@@scottsgaragehtx439 Yeah I get that and I don't blame you for going the route you went I just find that exhaust option to be extremely overpriced for me... I never worried much about the warranty on bikes I have owned dozens of new bikes and never once took a bike in for any warranty work or maintenance except the 2020 BMW S1000RR because you have no choice to get the rpm restriction removed. I happen to know a very good engine builder so if I had to rebuild I would just source the parts needed and have him do it wouldn't cost that much or at least a fraction of what a new engine would cost.. another thing the Ducati upmap for the Akrapovic just modifies air fuel so it isn't running lea the power increase is minimal and all the same factory restrictions are still in place... I would most definitely go with a brentune which removes all the factory restrictions which ends up making the bike more user friendly and more enjoyable to ride as well as extracts the most amount of power a tune can roughly 20 wheel hp... I have used them on several bikes and never had an issue... I am most likely buying a used 2022+ Streetfighter V4 and will be putting a decent amount of upgrades on the bike. With all the upgrades I have planned which is a really long list I would spend around 8k and that would include upgrading the spring rates for the forks and rear shock since stock is a bit under sprung for my weight. Just a different approach is all. I also haven't really heard many issues with the V4 and feel like it is a solid engine where as the 2020 BMW S1000RR had some issues and recalls that concerned me which is why I had the recalls completed and sold that bike.

Yes, I wish was as informed when I bought the bike. I bought it second hand, but with only 50 miles on it. Good news is BMW is paying for the new engine and I should get it back next week.@@sd24734

I might have to upgrade to a V4 or an R1M from a V2. Nice setup.

I just picked mine up this past weekend! I noticed yours doesn’t have the oil pan guard like mine (stock). Did they not put it on or does my dealer really like me 😂 would love to hear it in person if you down for a ride! I’m in river oaks/upper Kirby.

The change in sound comes from the cylinder deactivation after the bike warms up.

Thanks for subscribing. The S1000R was a roller coaster ride at the dealership. First they said it would probably be covered thru the rocker arm recall. But, when they opened it up they found a bent valve. Then it was, "we found a tune on the bike and BMW will not cover it. A new engine cost $15k." Ouch! I got to talking with the service tech and found we had a lot on common. Out of kindness I think, he resubmitted the case to a higher level at BMW and BMW said they would cover it under warranty (the factory warranty ends in May). So, they are putting a new engine in it! I decided to sell it though and picked up that Streetfighter. I have all original parts for the BMW if anyone is interested. Be safe too.

Man, I’m taking delivery of a 24 SF v 4s this week and really want that exhaust but I can’t justify the 9k for it.

I agree it's pricey and, honestly, not needed. It already has 208HP. But, man, does it sound and look insane. Money better spent on heated grips or some other comfort items?

Ride or a while. Get your break in done, and then look at the Arrow slip-on with stage two bren-tune.

Maybe a strange question but if i may, how tall are you and your weight. Im 73 inches and 250lbs so concerned about the dimensions and set up

@@soobturbo2006 74 inches and 215lbs. In comfortable on the bike, but the suspension is tuned for a much lighter rider. I have some Ohlins forks and rear shock coming. You will probably want to at least get a new rear spring. Other that the suspension, the bike is great.
