@@tipsle1 A few specific materials can be farmed/duplicated with glitches, such as ancient parts, raw meat, fairies, and topaz/ruby/sapphire
however, there hasn’t been a discovered glitch that works with every material, so we’ll have to rely on farming locations and strategies for now.

@@cokezero9254 NG + was never meant to preserve the style of gameplay, it's for people who have beaten the game re-experience the story without grinding stuffs like korok seeds.

Theyre doing all of this with a game that has been QA tested and bug tested to oblivion. Imagine the glitches we don’t know about in games that no one cares about as much. There can be some wild shit out there we’ll never discover.

I got my horse stuck trotting in place on the side of a wall in gerudo canyon, while I was trying to get my horse in the desert.
@@hearyougow they're not realistically going to spend 5 years (the length of time the game has been out) on testing the game, nor will they have a community this large, nor is it likely that they stumble across the same glitches as we do?

I always wonder how things like this come to be. Whether it’s speedrunners finding skips, or quit outs, how people find crazy glitches that they can use to progress through games, it always it’s fascinating to me.
well there is some stuff that always kind of glitches or has the possibility to it but this is some next level its like programming with glitches its a very abstract way but in its core its exactly that a programmer with a set of commands and parameters none the less unbelivabel and crazy
It's crazy how fantastic the quality and amount of glitches there are in this game without them being present accidentally in a normal play through
you should probably have added to the first part of the explanation that memory storage and more particularly memory manipulation has a long standing history in not just the zelda glitch community but in gaming in general and things like arbitrary code manipulation, memory overloading, cache manipulation etc are some of the most sought after weak points to begin glitch exploitation. So while these things were discovered by certain people, the setup was the question while the gimmick was actively being hunted for as it was more or less anticipated that these glitches could be done.
there is a lot of logic that goes into these things, take for example the bobokin launch, that takes advantage of bullet times rapid state change acceleration into real time, it takes the rate of acceleration and applies it to the impact. there is a lot more to it but that was the starting mentality that lead to the glitch being worked out.
"memory" in memory storage doesn't refer to the actual game memory, it refers to link's memories and how the game can't autosave because you're watching a memory or something along those lines, though neat comment

It took me a whole 17 tries to get Memory Storage done. Not because I kept dying but because I forgot to do something and instead my fingers go antsy and made me screw up. I eventually just resorted to writing down my directions on a piece of notebook paper to remember everything.
Ah I love the history of glitches so much! Memory Storage by far the most stressful yet most rewarding. Thank you for recounting this, Rin! Glitch hunters do a thankless job, so these documentations give them their dues!

Haven't seen the Hylian Shield++ one before, I wonder how we do that?
That’s editting. That effect just means you can transfer a 1160 hylian shield to an NG+ file from no-save file caused by memory storage glitch, getting a 144 defense hylian shield in NG+, and then doing durability transfer from 1159 duribility shield to 144 hylian shield in NG+. Thus you can get the best shield in botw.

I used memory storage to get the BOL, one of the most challenging runs I had ever had, because when I started it I didn't had that much playing the game, to have enough info to make a run only for that. I still use it and I love to have that bow with me now

Just they perfected the game. That's how great Nintendo is. Still these glitches are mostly found if you intentionally do it just for fun.

*There is something I’ve been wondering about this last week. Everybody knows the “keep the one hit obliterator” glitch by now, through using the test of wood trial in korok forest. What if, hypothetically speaking, I start this glitch (collect a load of wooden korok swords and bows and power them up through menu overload/durability transfer just to be sure). What if during the glitch, I start the final battle with Ganon (finish the first phase off with the single ancient arrow glitch just to be quick). As I go into the final phase and collect the bow of light. What will happen if I deselect the wooden sword/ fail the korok trial? I had this hope that this would be a much easier way to obtain the bow of light. I just don’t know if the korok trial would be stopped automatically when entering the Ganon boss fight. If it doesn’t, wouldn’t this be THE easiest way to obtain the bow of light and be able to save game? If I’m missing something or just flat out missed the mark on this one, can somebody let me know?? Really hope I’m on to something here. Much love*
Yeah ur probably right about the Ganon fight still being loaded in, just thought maybe something would be different because of the fact that you don’t manually get yourself past the battle area barrier, rather your spawned back into the forest. Thought that might cause the boss battle to maybe shut itself down.

I knew that a bunch of people as a group found glitches but wow how did someone just find the beginning part that is just crazy
I made a new account, played through the great plateau and cheesed the master sword, then the final trials, then the four champion’s quests and got enough loot to start the transfer. I didn’t get any extra slots from hestu on my file to ensure that if I did this glitch that I would get everything. Along with only having enough items to sell, just to transfer the main gear.
I find that this method always gives me 4, as long as I stand away from the counter. I’m dropping/equipping my bows, with menu overloaded active, I pause and hold 4 items then unpause and pull out my bow with ZR and unequip the bow with the quick menu. BEFORE selling the rest of the same 4 items previously picked, and then I sell them, and step away to pause and hold my 5th item. Drop it and pick it up. (That’s 4 slots completed) Then pull out my bow with ZR and pause, I’m still overloaded, so I just hold another 4 items, unpause, then again use ZR to pull out my bow and use the quick menu (D-Pad) to unequip the bow, pause, sell the 4 items and pause and hold the 5th item, to then drop it. (That’s 8) after completing this until I get enough to cover my inventory.
The slots are corrupted from right to left and bottom to top.
I have 7 key items, no meals, sellable items, 4 armor pieces, 4 shields, 6 arrow types, 5 bows(including the BoL) , and 2 swords = 28 slots needed.
So I need 28 different sellable items with at least 2+ count of the items.
After getting 28 slots ready, I use my travel medallion to get to ganon phase one, clap his cheeks, then obtain the bow on my horse, pause and return to the title, then open a new game +
Remember the bow of light, needs to fit within the first 5 slots. Because the new game + won’t be able to load in a slot it doesn’t have. I clip out of the shrine of resurrection, get an auto save after clipping out, (clipping optional) then get a weapon, a shield, and a bow, and drop them all, then walk around and get another auto save.
If everything is done, you can quit the game to disable your offset and then open it back and see if it worked.
Remember never to save manually until you see that you have everything.
Note: the new file you want the loot items on should have picked up one weapon one shield and one bow. Then drop them all before you close the game. I was having trouble with the new file loading until I found out you need to activate those weapon pick up text boxes.
Now I have the Bow of Light on Mastermode
So it isn’t currently possible to transfer progress and inventory, is it?

Glitch hunting in this is sounding a lot like utterly breaking SM64 with BLJs.
...So, in other words: Link just timeloop back to the beginning. That, or Zelda just put Link to sleep for another 100 years again.

Would you be able to get a Hylian Shield with Durability Up+ and increase the amount of arrows you get from inventory corruption?
If you dont give any modifiers with the inventory corruption glitch then technically not the light arrows are the strongest arrows it the ancient arrows beacuse they ONE SHOT EVERY F****G GUARDIAN IN THE GAME IF YOU HIT THEM IN THE EYE WITH IT (except the shrine ones those are modified so they dont take that much damage with it)

That was just video editing, what Rin was referring to was getting a 144 guard shield in the saveless run of memory storage, then getting the 1160 durability one in the resulting "New Game +" file, and transferring the durability of the 1160 durability shield to the 144 guard shield.
So like, is this allowed in speedrunning? Imagine saving 10 or more minutes just by skipping the great platue

While interesting manipulation of the inventory memory, i rather play as Nintendo designed it. I enjoy watching the communities glitch videos, just shows how much they love this game. As do I with 3 profiles all at varied stages.. Come on BOTW II !

I love and hate the memory storage glitch. I love it because it is such a interesting and broken glitch but I hate it at the same time because with took me like 15 hours to actually pull everything off. I had pulled off the menu prompt like 20 times but due to me accidentally inputting another a, ( I didint do it too quick tho it’s like a late reaction of pressing another a) it cancelled the glitch. And when I pull the memory prompt up I do the view memory and load game file way too quick soft locking the game.
I'm pretty sure nintendo is crying from murdering their game

if u no what ur doing u dont need to have all ur stuff @ the start...thats what makes it fun...starting off w/only a stick...& seeing ur Link grow lil by lil...thats what makes BotW fun...having all ur stuff @ the start takes away from all that....
But... what if... you're just... doing the glitch... for fun.... and not... to beat the game.... what if you... just want to... see what its like... to keep the bow... of light... throughout the entire... game.......?
