It will also have better dynamic range and overall image quality. According to Canon, the R6 mk2 can still produce sharper results than the R thanks to a less aggressive AA filter.

I wish that camera companies would give 1080p video some love instead of treating it like a red-headed step child nobody wants. 4k optimization is awesome, don't get me wrong. But why is it asking too much to oversample 1080p? They already do it with 4k. GOOD 1080p is still worthwhile, and the file size savings are massively worth it. Have confirmed with both Sony and Canon that neither of the new cameras (A7R, FX30, R6 Mark ii, or anything at all) that oversampled 1080p is not offered and not planned to be offered at all. Reviewers are doing everybody a disservice by not chasing after this and just focusing on how good the 4k video is.
Jared, based on what I've seen on most of the R6 Mk 2 "first impression videos", I believe an upgrade from the R6 to the Mk 2 doesn't make a lot of economic sense, unless you need the very fast shutterless frame rates (40 FPS vs 20 FPS) or the removal of the 30 minute time limit. The other improvements likely don't have a big impact on most standard use cases. I will say that the improvements from the R to the R6 were quite significant. Thanks for your review!
Just bought this for my father…. He’s not new to photography, but he’s been away from it for a little while. Thanks for the great pREVIEW of the R6 Mk II. Learned a lot and helped me, a casual shooter, make a decision on it. Great vid JP!
4:52 it’s funny you say that because most of the people posting on Canon rumors absolutely expect that lol it seems like every time a new cheap camera comes out they think that it’s going to have the most high and features on a low price camera.
I'm purely a photography hobbyist, and I'm drooling over this R6 update. I have a 5D Mk IV and I do love it, but that autofocus tracking is turning me green with envy.
Similar myself but cropped 7D & ii. I now have the R7 at its ridiculous. Adapting EF glass and there is no difference. I just miss the battery grip. You pondering the R5 or R6/ii?
I swapped the Mark IV and bought the R5. The auto focus is not as good as he is making it out to be. Although it is better than the Mark IV it is not perfect and has its flaws. Especially working with the newspaper I tend to use spot focus a lot more than eye detect. It is fast than having to cycle through which persons eye you are focused on. He claims the autofocus rarely misses even with running or moving objects. I have tried the auto focus on every single setting and it misses a lot with my dog running no matter what.
@@evi2083 I had the 5D Mark IV (and shot with the best Canon DSLRs for 18 years). The R6 Mark II AF is light years better than any Canon DSLR including the 1D Mark III that I shot with as a pro for 12 years. I took the R6 Mark II out and shot hockey - arguably the most difficult sport to shoot - for a couple hours after getting my new cam. Out of the box, it NEVER missed! It acquired eye AF every time, thru plexi-glass, even when the players were wearing masks or cages. It was incredible! My 1D Mark III would have taken so much fiddling with the AF points, or I would have just used the center point all game, and it still would have missed 50% of shots. The 5D Mark IV would have been significantly worse. I think I had a 95% perfect hit rate with the R6 Mark II using the EF 70-200 2.8 III adapted. I also had the EOS R and it was better than the 5D Mark IV, but not nearly as fast or accurate as the R6 Mark II.
Great review!! Does it remember faces? If my subject is dancing in a group of people, can it remember to keep only my subject in focus at all times? And how would I set this up? Thanks.
in my opinion... the reason for the "mid-level" camera is to fix the overheating. As a wedding videographer my r6 overheats EVERY SINGLE WEDDING. Its my favorite to shoot on so I deal with it. Excited about the upgrade.
I use an R6 professionally and have an R as my second body. I already listed my R for sale a month ago to get a second R6 because I honestly love the camera but now I'm just going to get the new mark II. I shoot weddings primarily along with nightlife and automotive work so this will be a perfect little upgrade. Just recently I've had 2 clients ask that I do both photo and video of an event and the one thing that missed me off and was the only thing I missed from my 5d IV was the ability to quickly switch from photo to video. With the R6 it was such a pain in the ass to look down at the mode dial and switch it over, especially since these are very low light scenarios inside of nightclubs. This will solve that issue and I can't wait to get one!
There are features I need from this to be moved to the R5 (dedicated video switch mode, focus breathing correction, 1080p180, anti flicker, new hot shoe). Interested to see what the low light performance is like.
As a R6 user who makes decent money doing what I love (not a ton of money, but enough) I probably won't sell mine until I'm ready for the R5. The current R6 works perfectly for what I need so there isn't much to entice me to switch. I'll just hold out until I'm ready for a R5. But if I was still on my old R, then I'd be all about the R6 mark ii.
Jared you have the best reviews because you don’t blow smoke up the manufacturers butts like other RUclipsrs. You break down what the marketing features are actually like in real life and the limitations of them. Looks like the R6 MK 1 is $2,299.
I like my R6 R7 combo - the R7 for birding, the R6 for everything else. If I didn't have a camera, I'd pick the R6 Mark II, but I'll stay with what I have. But, I teach math for a living and take pictures just for fun.
I have the same combo currently. Its really nice! The new AF of the R7 is also a great update (the R6II has the same). But I think I will also stay. Because... its 1000€ more expensive as what I have payed for the Mk1...thats to much for those new features - which some of them I have in the R7. WITHOUT rolling shutter... I would instantly upgrade!
We shoot weddings on all things Canon. We currently have both an R6 and R5. With us mainly doing video, this camera is a no brainer for a B-cam or a replacement A cam in a pinch if we are doing a photo video wedding. 100% probably either gonna sell our current R6 or keep it as a tripod/backup camera (can never have too many reaction cams for video).
Do you know if the Canon R6mk2 can shoot in shutter priority ? I'm getting the impression yes it can from all the pre reviews. Whish it had DCI. I have a Sony A74 and R6 right now and mostly shoot videos with my Sony because of the shutter priority but the color matching even with Davinci and Sony luts its still off my R6 videos. Was thinking of selling both the R6 and Sony A74 and just get the R5.
Any word if any of the 1080p modes are oversampled? 1080p quality has been getting badly ignored by everybody lately. Storage is expensive, let's see some optimized 1080p as an option too!
Great preview Jared, love the fact you caught the shadow of a tie fighter going past at 15:12 🚀🤣. Seriously though you always provide excellent detailed info for us to take away🤜
Jarid, I think this is a fantastic and very welcome camera into the Canon Lineup. In my opinion this is what the original R6 should had always been. Well done on this one Canon 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
@Rebel Hikes eh, while they don’t have a camera they call their mirrorless flagship, the r3 is extremely capable and easily competes with the a1 and z9 in my experience.
@Rebel Hikes your moral superiority is a little evident. But considering you haven’t built a single camera we don’t really care what you think. Your inability to see any good in A rival brand tells us how brain washed you are. For in order to be a fair judge you have to weigh without bias. I have used Sony a7s iii, a7iv. Canons R6, R5, R3. They are all amazing cameras. And if you can’t create something great with both brands. You suck😘 I buy canon still because I prefer that brand. My friends buy both Canon and Sony because they prefer that brand. Canon is the only camera brand allowed to be critiqued so it will improve the most. You mention a down side to a sony and get stoned, “but CaNOn🤡”
@Rebel Hikes I don't think Canon needs much more bragging rights at any sports event since they are 90% of the cameras there... Also, as a pro, I've never bought a camera system based on third party lenses... It's nice to have third party options if they are really good but I typically just get the manufacturer's glass anyways. Since a big portion of Sony's marketshare is consumers, it makes sense they allowed third party cheaper glass.
R5 already got a mid-refresh sort of.... the r5c.... I think it might take longer. Their mid tier needed more attention. R3 was holding it down at the top, so was R7 and R10 at the bottom.
The best review among all. Clearly explaining and showing what it does and what he sees. Noone does that. You are simply the best reviewer. Many many thanks for your reviews.
R6 Mark II is $2499??? BRAVO CANON!!! I wasn't a fan of the specs that the original R6 offered, but this one looks way more up my alley. This will absolutely be considered when upgrading my camera body sometime in the next year.
I have the R5 and R6 and use them for wedding video and photo work. The R6 as a photo camera is mostly almost perfect for wedding work. I've wanted a little more resolution on the sensor (like 4-6 more MP). The R6 mark II does that. As a video camera, the R6 has frustrated me to no end. It still overheats, even after firmware update 1.6. The 30 minute record limit is nonsense... especially after the R7 and R10 camera have no limit. No custom modes in video. The R6 mark II solves most of my gripes with the R6 mark I and I will be running to upgrade and sell my R6. Thanks for the in depth first look Jared.
I like the scenarios Canon set up for this but I would like to see something slightly more challenging for the AF test: a football scrimmage in full gear (ie: helmets). I want to see how well the AF switches from head-ish area when the eyes aren't visible to locking on the eyes when they come into view, how sticking the AF is, etc. If a Canon rep is reading this: please set up something like a 6-on-6 scrimage/demo where you're telling the photographers what play is coming half of the time and letting them figure it out on the fly the other half. Football is fast, complicated by the helmets (especially with a visor), and frequently has other people getting in front of the intended subject. This would really showcase the AF performance especially if it's supposed to rival the R3.
This is a lovely refresh. As an amateur who doesn’t make money from my photos I won’t be upgrading but I’m glad to see an upgrade for those who need it!
16:45, the OM-1 does that also, ProCaptureSH2, up to 1.4 seconds back in time (you can tweak it yourself), full AF tracking, subject and eye detection at up to 50 fps, RAW and you must not select the image in body from that raw burst package, you can select it later in LrC or C1 or whatever else you are using like e.g. ACDsee. And the OM-1 has a stacked BSI sensor spitting out an awesome image quality.
I hope the R6 drops a lot in price because as a RP user it would be such a blessing to get that upgrade. Thanks for the update Jared! I started Raw Talk the other week to see what you said about Fujifilm and I do will listening more in the future. #rawtalk
I went from RP to R6. It's a huge step up In functionality but in terms of image quality, don't expect much. You will love it as long as you are ok with the IQ you have now just much better AF, faster functions, and the IBIS.
I'm a current R6 owner and love my camera. I've been seriously considering a second body and wasn't thrilled with the R7. The announcement of the R6MkII didn't disappoint. My concern is that Canon will no longer continue development of the current R6. A few of the R6MkII features could be done in R6 firmware such as AF subjects, exposure modes in video, focus breathing correction, no record limit, etc. I'm looking forward to adding the R6MkII in early 2023. Thanks for the video and your continued contribution to the camera community Jared!
Your reviews are always interesting and easy to understand and this one is not an exception. Thank you very much Jared, now I'm more convinced that I want to get my hands on this baby.
Great pReview. The feature set and capability of this camera is exactly what I've been waiting for Canon to come out with. But just 5 days before Canon's announcement, I finally gave up hope and reluctantly decided to abandon the Canon ecosystem, even though it meant abandoning my many excellent L lenses as well. I bought a Sony A7IV and a couple of Sony lenses. I now regret that decision, as I would not have to replace all my great Canon lenses if I had just waited a few more days before giving up on Canon. Oh well. C'est la vie.
I love they changed the on off switch. As the OG R6 popped off and we couldn’t get it back on. 😢 Love your videos. Super helpful! I always learn a ton.
As much as I like the idea of this camera, I'm still on the 5D Mark 3 and 6D Mark 2, for photography purposes I'd still say that their good enough for someone to get by, also for video as well, the 5D Mark 3 with Magic lantern filming at 3.5k 14 bit RAW is perfect for documentaries, I've also used it for a commercial for Audi and they were impressed with the results. All in all it's what you do with your gear I guess. If I was to upgrade I'd wanna go for the R3 or 1DX Mark 2 or 3, Purely for size, I've got fairly large hands and have got used to the bigger bodies and grips, the R6 original is a fantastic piece of kit but I hate that when you hold it, it genuinely feels like a toy. Smaller and lighter is better for a lot of people, but for me I want something I get can get an affirmative grip on, and the R6 is just too small for my liking.
I just hope they add a firmware to get rid of record limits across all active canon cameras. I'll probably pick up the Mark II as my "A cam" due to the RAW video capabilities, and keep my regular r6 as a solid b cam.
Have the R6 but not a video shooter (strictly photos) and I see no real reason to switch to the Mark II. For now, I'll stick with the original R6. Thanks for this review .
The anti-flicker shooting (electronic shutter mode) is a huge deal for me. I shoot on film sets and the banding can be severe on most mirrorless cameras using the electronic shutter on some sets. Cheap led practical lights are specially problematic.
Coming from the original EOS-r, looks like a good time to upgrade. Would love to see a video on your best method/best settings for using the autofocus as you were at the Canon event.
My R6 is amazing and combined with a 5DSr I can do all the stills I need. I’m not into video yet to need those upgrades, more keen on Canon opening RF glass soon, to then consider a new R5 range in the future
Use the Mechanical, it isn’t a R3, most people using it would use it as a B camera in sports, and if it’s your A camera, you gotta compromise. 10 years ago, even 12 fps was seen as a revolutionary on 1DX and D4, its more than enough for a Pro. Electronic shutter has his cons and pro, everyone to its own.
This looks like a nice bump in features and will be a great camera at the same price point. I use an R6 working as a part-time photog, but I will be hanging on to the original body for now. The higher res and 40 fps are sexy, but not really worth upgrading for me personally. I will hold out to see where they go with the R5 specs, then maybe trade up.
Been loving my R6 so far and I'm liking this update. I'm wonder what Canon is thinking now with the R5. i love the new physical switches and the Digital hot shoe is just an awesome touch. Live raw Just might be a game changer as well. But, it'll depends on the context.
The R6 is amazing already. I really only want some more mps. can barely crop on 20mp. Great to see 24 on this new one. I dont like the new on/off button placement as I tend to turn it off alot when I have nothing to shoot. Easy access to it is great on the R6. Otherwise its great to see so many improvements.
A little disappointing they didn't go over 30mp. Have been waiting for Canon to crush it and the wait has been too long. Will probably jump to Sony, especially if the A7 IV comes down in price. Got an M6 Mark II and I like the resolution in case framing isn't perfect. 10fps isn't a deal breaker on the Sony and I don't shoot much video. Had enough of Canon holding back cameras to protect their upper end models.
It's a small but decent upgrade thats only good for a first time R6 buyer. Canon's lack of third-party support is my biggest deal breaker. Unless you already have old outdated EF glass be expected to buy ridiculously overpriced glass on the RF mount system. For anyone that wants the Tamron 35-150mm F2-2.8 for road trips...Not happening on Canon's system.
Not really pixel peeping. I take a lot of sports pics. Football wrestling gymnastics. Not always easy to get perfect framing so it is nice to be able to crop. Made a Fathead of my son running in a TD that was heavily cropped but still turned out great with 31 mp. Unfortunately can't afford 2 top tier set ups.
The pre-burst is amazing on the R7 for birds and butterflies. The images being captured because of that make these systems invaluable. Good to see it becoming a standard feature. Also the auto-leveling is crazy good when doing street photog. I cannot live without it because some of us are born sideways.
I liked my R7 but it had issues with shots being as sharp as I wanted them, even when the camera was dead still. This has been a complaint I’ve noticed from some other R7 users.
@@indyjones720 I've seen posts on FB from people having that issue as well. Mine have been incredibly sharp, and gets the focus way better than I was ever able to do on my 7D2. Might be because the sensor is floating and maybe it wasn't aligned properly? Who knows.
I’m in the same situation. The R6 is still excellent, so I can live with it ; if I’ve more than 1k to upgrade I would pay a good trip for good photos more than R6II upgrade, anyway. I’m just happy than Canon still produce excellent bodies so the brand appears perennial to me
I'm an R6 owner. I get why they didn't use the stacked sensor from the R3 although that would have made it a no brainer to buy. I'm considering selling my R6 and going with the Mk II. But you're right it's not quite enough of an upgrade.
Solid work Jared - Thank you! (i know how much pain in the cam it is having ATOMOS attached to the device while taking pictures 😀) IMO this version of R6 is what I wanted/expected 2 years ago. This time though I was one of those naives hoping we'd get R3 sensor in R6ii and I was expecting a price hike - I got that wrong too. Well sort of - where I am, the R6ii launches at 600-800 credits more than the R6 OG, so it is more expensive on some markets. Overall though I think it is a pretty well rounded offer from Canon when comparing to Sony a7iv.
I wouldnt compare it to the Sony A7iv. You will be disappointed. Unless you are looking at investing in either camera then Sony is hands down the way to go. For one, it has almost 10 more megapixels, (not that MP is be all end all, but still is a factor) Also, with canon's current mirrorless lens offerings, the whole situation is a joke. The lenses are cheaply constructed and are less robust than their predecessors and they are 10-20% more expensive as well for some odd reason. Also canon doesnt hand out their lens mount to third party manufacturers, therefore all of the 3rd party companies have to spend serious money reverse engineering the lens mount. This is why we have not seen sigma or tamron, etc producing lenses for canon mirrorless line. Sony has all the R&D money they need and then some. All of this is coming from someone who has shot with canon for over 15 years.
I say the original R6 is still better than the A7IV except for resolution (though the R6 upscales to match very nicely). The A7IV is much newer yet still only offers cropped 4K60 and has very bad back LCD and much lower FPS (and slightly worse AF).
As an EOS R owner I will be upgrading! I was waiting until deals for the EOS R6 appeared or i find a use one for a good price but I decided to go with the EOS R6II. I love the EOS 6 but I wanted a camera with IBIS and a faster fps.
Love this speedy insight. I was debating hard between picking up the R6 vs waiting for the R6 Mk II. With the upgrades AND maintaining the price, it's a no-brainer for me to just wait. Thank you for all this. #igotthisfarthanksjared

#igotthisfar I'm an R6 owner as well and like this update! Lots of nice little features added though I would have loved a bigger increase in resolution as well. Excited to try it out and see if the variable shutter speed for the electronic shutter works well against video screens and projector screens where I often shoot.
@@OfficialGundem it matters to me highly. Upscaled images don't look any better than simply scaling up the image manually. At least the super resolution function in Lightroom/Photoshop does to me.
Hi there! Greaaaaat video as always, imo one of the best about the R6 MII. I've just a question about the " tennis player": how much of the "warping" is rolling shutter, and how much is bending/deforming of the objects? I mean, tennis rackets bend...and (tennis) balls deform... :D
I look forward to the day when auto-focus really works accurately and detects the right subject type so there is no need to manually select it. Raw burst mode is on the M6 Mkii but it’s pretty useless as continuous autofocus doesn’t work with it.
I'm mainly a photo guy so I'm sticking with my R6 but the video improvements, 40fps and buffer size make the Mark II very impressive, especially at the same price as the original.
Me too but the wifi improvements alone almost make it worth thinking about, and the pre-burst.

Great review. Jared is exceptional at explaining things and I appreciate the honesty. Good job!
Thanks for this initial review. I'm not doing a lot of videos so I'll keep my R6 for now.
4:52 it’s funny you say that because most of the people posting on Canon rumors absolutely expect that lol it seems like every time a new cheap camera comes out they think that it’s going to have the most high and features on a low price camera.
Jared and Stephen have the best gear reviews on RUclips hands down. Their RAWtalk podcast is an awesome complement to their videos too!
@@evi2083 You’re talking about the R5 but the R6 II is supposed to be even better so hopefully the R5 II gets similar upgrades soon
@@evi2083 Do you have the settings on animal eye/ AI servo? Also, did you set your shutter speed to the highest?
Why not use a real video camera if you're a videographer?
Hm, it is a front side illuminated sensor, so it will probably not be outstanding.
True
Jared you have the best reviews because you don’t blow smoke up the manufacturers butts like other RUclipsrs. You break down what the marketing features are actually like in real life and the limitations of them. Looks like the R6 MK 1 is $2,299.
Yes. That part!
Your explanation and info on cameras is so good and concise, making the move from Fujifilm to Canon super easy for me! Thanks for All you do!
I’m happy this wasn’t too earth shattering of an update since I just bought my r6 this summer
@@tekguyphoto the MK2 now has AV and TV for video :)! so... yes you can "now" do shutter priority.
I didn’t expect a Canon R6 Mark II that soon…
I’ve just uploaded a video on how I’ve (almost) got rid of the overheating issue on the R6 😅
Late night Fro release....I'm here for it!
Any word if any of the 1080p modes are oversampled? 1080p quality has been getting badly ignored by everybody lately. Storage is expensive, let's see some optimized 1080p as an option too!
They are not, only full frame 4k modes are oversampled. 1080p is still fairly soft

Great job on auto focus even when the eyes where barely showing.
I love what they have done in this 🎉 nice work canon. Starting to listen to the users

4:16.5 - was that a leaf that dropped in front of the camera? 🙂
Jarid, I think this is a fantastic and very welcome camera into the Canon Lineup. In my opinion this is what the original R6 should had always been. Well done on this one Canon 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Hi Jared Jeremy Parr the R6 mark II sound awesome can the R 6 battery fit onto the R6 mark II body thank you for sheering this video yours truly Jer😁
The fact that this was a mid level update makes me think the R5 II could be coming soon....
#igotthisfarthanksjared
The best review among all. Clearly explaining and showing what it does and what he sees. Noone does that. You are simply the best reviewer. Many many thanks for your reviews.
R6 Mark II is $2499??? BRAVO CANON!!!
I wasn't a fan of the specs that the original R6 offered, but this one looks way more up my alley. This will absolutely be considered when upgrading my camera body sometime in the next year.
@Rebel Hikes thats any professional camera setup tbh.
I mostly use my EF lenses except for a few primes on my rf camera.
In next year? By then new R5 MKII will be out or R6MKIII
Marry the lens, date the body.
He starts talking about video specs at 20:22
Great review. Just ordered mines today 11/23. Replacing the 6d mark ii. Hope I like it. 😊
Ha, yeah, the AF tests are always in bright daylight in these launch Videos.
@@JesseStarrPhoto Yeah how about a test done in a low light HS football field or a dingy HS gym.
This is a lovely refresh. As an amateur who doesn’t make money from my photos I won’t be upgrading but I’m glad to see an upgrade for those who need it!
The price here in Seden for the body only was 27500 SEK for the R6 and now it´s 34 000 SEK for the R6 II. So more expensive here in Europe.
In the US the shown prices are mostly without tax, because every state has it's own tax. But in Europe it's way more expensive anyway.
#rawtalk
Just let me sell my R6 before they drop the price lol
@@njrivetelite I checked. I saw one site had it down to 2,200 already. Canon still has it full price 😂 better sell it fast :)

I went from RP to R6. It's a huge step up In functionality but in terms of image quality, don't expect much. You will love it as long as you are ok with the IQ you have now just much better AF, faster functions, and the IBIS.
@@DJ.1001 image quality is mostly the lens
Is this a signal of things to come with an upgrade to the R5 i.e. a mid-term refresh to R5 Mk II. Your thoughts Jared.
That explains why you were in San Diego despite not needing to go for a Phillie's game ;)
Finally the pre burst mode is there. I used it on my m6mkii all the time when shooting birds.
If you have both, will be strange with the different power button locationd
What about the C1, C2, C3 functions, does they finally works for video ?? Nice video btw
Didn’t test it but they should. They basically gave it everything the R5 can do in terms of video functionality
Japan Canon says orders will be accepted starting Fri. Nov. 4 from 10 am (JST) and it will be released mid Dec.
Love your videos.
I respect that
Just get a grip for it, I've had one on my R and now R5C, you're right it feels wrong on it's own, but very solid with a grip.
A hand strap helps my R6 fit in my huge mitts pretty well. Costs and weighs less than a grip, too
I just hope they add a firmware to get rid of record limits across all active canon cameras. I'll probably pick up the Mark II as my "A cam" due to the RAW video capabilities, and keep my regular r6 as a solid b cam.
Here we go!!!
I am very happy with my R6
, Not going to upgrade to mark2.
But I will be waiting for R1
Have the R6 but not a video shooter (strictly photos) and I see no real reason to switch to the Mark II. For now, I'll stick with the original R6. Thanks for this review .
Exactly
R6 gonna serve anyone for a loong time..
The anti-flicker shooting (electronic shutter mode) is a huge deal for me. I shoot on film sets and the banding can be severe on most mirrorless cameras using the electronic shutter on some sets. Cheap led practical lights are specially problematic.
This camera is awesome only thing i wish it had was ALL-I compression
Wtf it don't 😭
So excited for this camera! I think this will be a great upgrade for me as a horse photographer/videographer.
Honnestly, really interested because of the new photo/video switch for hybrid shooting, that was a pain on the 1st r6
Nice video. What were the exact autofocus settings used on the R6 II for most of the shots?
Rolling shutter on that tennis ball and racket are pretty pronounced. I think most people are definitely going to notice that.
You feel like 40fps is necessary tho? I think 12fps on mechanical shutter is definitely enough
It was nice back when we used to get RAW files to play with. Can you share RAWs?
This looks like a nice bump in features and will be a great camera at the same price point. I use an R6 working as a part-time photog, but I will be hanging on to the original body for now. The higher res and 40 fps are sexy, but not really worth upgrading for me personally. I will hold out to see where they go with the R5 specs, then maybe trade up.
Oh gosh. Here we go!
Been loving my R6 so far and I'm liking this update. I'm wonder what Canon is thinking now with the R5.
i love the new physical switches and the Digital hot shoe is just an awesome touch. Live raw Just might be a game changer as well. But, it'll depends on the context.
Canon is copy Sony 🤭
The R6 is amazing already. I really only want some more mps. can barely crop on 20mp. Great to see 24 on this new one.
I dont like the new on/off button placement as I tend to turn it off alot when I have nothing to shoot. Easy access to it is great on the R6. Otherwise its great to see so many improvements.
@@Xirpzy agreed on the button placement. But I know I'll get some more muscle memory since I get my hands on it.
Nice little camera ! Let's hope it does not overheat again, while 4K filming.
Love the updates. I’m going to sell mine and upgrade I believe.
This 6D Mark II sure does look great!
For anyone that wants the Tamron 35-150mm F2-2.8 for road trips...Not happening on Canon's system.
i dont get that pixel peeping
Not really pixel peeping. I take a lot of sports pics. Football wrestling gymnastics. Not always easy to get perfect framing so it is nice to be able to crop. Made a Fathead of my son running in a TD that was heavily cropped but still turned out great with 31 mp. Unfortunately can't afford 2 top tier set ups.
Informative [pre] review. Hopefully some of the new features will be added to the R5 via a firmware update. Thanks, Stefano
Who knows.
My R6 was purchased two weeks ago. It was returned and will be ordering the MKii.
Kinda feel a little cheated considering I’ve had my R6 about a year. I won’t be upgrading as the cost differential will be too much.
Try the Sony alpha 7 iv 33mp 7k non cropped 4k Down sample also a lot of great small compact 2.8 and 1.4 glass
Solid work Jared - Thank you! (i know how much pain in the cam it is having ATOMOS attached to the device while taking pictures 😀)
IMO this version of R6 is what I wanted/expected 2 years ago.
@@lj_hepp 10 more mega pickles is kinda irrelevant tbh and not factoring in glass this destroys the a74 lol
Goodness this camera is amazing. This is honestly what the R5C should have been. Hopefully a version of this firmware is ported over.
Yes, I need to upgrade from R6 :) My biggest complain was battery life and it seems like the problem is solved in mk II.
Love this speedy insight. I was debating hard between picking up the R6 vs waiting for the R6 Mk II. With the upgrades AND maintaining the price, it's a no-brainer for me to just wait. Thank you for all this. #igotthisfarthanksjared
Better than my timing. Just bought the R6 one month ago. Happy user, but coming from a 5D4 I miss my higher resolution.

I'm an R6 owner as well and like this update! Lots of nice little features added though I would have loved a bigger increase in resolution as well. Excited to try it out and see if the variable shutter speed for the electronic shutter works well against video screens and projector screens where I often shoot.
If this had been upgraded to 30 MP I wouldn't even consider the R or R5.
does MP matter any more with upscalers available?
@@OfficialGundem it matters to me highly. Upscaled images don't look any better than simply scaling up the image manually. At least the super resolution function in Lightroom/Photoshop does to me.
Hi there! Greaaaaat video as always, imo one of the best about the R6 MII. I've just a question about the " tennis player": how much of the "warping" is rolling shutter, and how much is bending/deforming of the objects? I mean, tennis rackets bend...and (tennis) balls deform... :D
Wow awesomeness. Upgrading from my 5D mk III finally and if the price drop is drastic on the R6, that’s my jam! #igothisfarthanksjared
Unrelated, but man some of this royalty free music SLAPS. I keep having to rewind because I’m just vibin.
Would be nice if Canon add this "Auto select AF" with a firmware update to the older R-Cameras👌🏼
And this burst mode would be cool too^^
Not going to happen. Most companies don't do that
I look forward to the day when auto-focus really works accurately and detects the right subject type so there is no need to manually select it. Raw burst mode is on the M6 Mkii but it’s pretty useless as continuous autofocus doesn’t work with it.
