It looks pretty nice! I think this is the evolution of what anglers are looking for to get of the bank/shoreline. 899.00 is an incredible price and its light weight at only 77lbs.
Wow, as someone who recently became an amputee, but loves fishing and camping , this might be exactly what I've been looking for! Nothing against kayaks at all, in fact I have been using a friends this summer which is what has me looking now. For the price, and the capacity I find this really compelling!
I still like the idea of a pedal kayak. I want something light enough to car top and efficient enough to give me good range. When you get into motors you need boat registration and probably a trailer that also needs a license, but this is still a great option for some people.
This thing is very cool. The price of the boat and the add ons seem very reasonable. But since it has a transom mount it also makes it possible to use a cheaper trolling motor which is nice. The downside however is that once you ad a trolling motor or gas motor it will need to be registered at least here in Michigan. Thats part of what I like about my kayak. Once its bought you dont have to pay the state to enjoy it.
I think that there will always be kayak purest that will always pick paddling. But i also think many many kayakers are not in it for the sport of paddling but in it for the personal one man bass boat that can go anywhere. This and the new pelican are first in the game for that massive untapped market. On a personal note i think this is a outstanding offering and wish i could get one.
MY BUDDY IS BUYING A BASS BOAT BUT HE WORKS OUT IF TOWN. THIS WOULD BE PERFECT FOR MY SOLO TRIPS ON THE WATER INSTEAD OF FROM THE BANK!!! SO THANKS GOOD VIDEO!!✊🏽
I think the price is right. For right around a $1000 you can have a motorized micro boat that is paddleable. I mean lets face it people are putting motors on kayaks already. This is just making the platform motor ready (pod OR stern) instead of an afterthought. Now if they come out with a pedal option for the pod space...game over. Market domination.
Could be a third party pedal drive. I know kayak companies like to stay proprietary when it comes to pedal drives but they could really save a lot of time and money and just contract out a pedal drive system with a company that already makes a good one. Honestly it looks like a native drive could almost go right in there with only a few modifications.
They're going to have their hands full if "market domination" is anywhere in their future. As an aterthought though, this might make a great little first kayak/boat for someone
@@fatchancesoutdooradventure2305 Maybe. The market for this hybrid style boat is really small right now though. IF they came out with a pedal drive I dont think any of the other could compete (price dependent of course) and it might even pull people away from the 10' pedal kayak market. Realistically you could get this boat, decent paddle, electric motor, battery for around $1200. If they could do a pedal system for $800-1000 thats a fully loaded motorized pedal boat for $2000ish. Crazy. Edit: I guess it would need a rudder also so probably a bit more depending.
I love it! Only thing keeping me from going to the rigs are my laziness, and the fear of the motor screwing up way out there. Now if it screws up, you can just paddle back. Definitely interested in this hybrid.
No fears. It works great. Very reliable motor. No problems. I prefer a motor on the back like a Suzuki 2.5 for more speed and power. This boat is heavier. You realky don't want to paddle it long distances.
Omg man I like it!!! Kayak and a Jonny offspring lol thanks man about to put my order in ASAP hope it comes at least 12ft I live in Maryland very strict rules...
Even if someone was wanting to get into kayaks and wanted something that is wide and stable this seems to be a great option without the motor. $899 is cheap when comparing to something like the big fish 105 or any other kayaks that provide a wide stable deck.
What a great boat that would be the next one I get only starting out on a yak so that's fun right now but later down the track a Johny will be good I guess I'll have to import it I'm in Australia but that's cool
I modified my advanced angler 120 to look just like this. 12' long, 400lb capacity. Twin 30lb thrust minnkotas just forward of the stern and fish finder and transducer all contained in the front pod. One deep cycle 109amp hour battery feeds all three and lasts me all day. Bought the kayak from cabelas for 500.00.
I had to drop out of Yak fishing. I have a new and improved Heart condition that doesn't let me exercise. I have been looking at the electric motor options for a new one. That one looks very stable for me as well.
Man, I just keep coming back to this boat. I just wish there was a pedal option you could drop in in case your trolling motor went dead. Everyone says this doesn't paddle well. I wonder if oar attachments would be better than a paddle just to get you home in a pinch.
Im am bass boat guy, have been for a long time, and probably will always have one. But Ive borrowed a few different kayaks from buddies to fish from over the last few months, and Ive had a blast. What has drawn me to kayak fishing, is the simplicity of it. 4 or 5 rods, tackle bag, a paddle and off I go. Ill be honest, when I started researching kayak bass tournaments, I was fairly bummed out to see guys running motors. At what point does a kayak become an electric jon boat? Oh well, everyone has the right to choose what works best for them.
Charles Kemp right that’s the point. This is a kayak John Boat. They named it that to draw the comparison. It’s totally not a kayak. Not sure we should even sell them in our kayak shop. But it’s a part of the conversation happening in the industry right now.
@@HeadwatersKayak and its probably just the beginning. Kayak fishing seems to be booming. Look at what has happened to bass boats over the last 15 years, since bass fishing became "cool". The major difference is, bass boats started doubling and now tripling in price, the Jonny Boat is LESS expensive.
I think it's pretty badass! I would love to get out on the water with that! Definitely get to explore a lot more spots having propulsion. I have a 10 ft perception sit inside right now that I have rigged up 4 Fishing, love it! wish I could put a trolling motor on it just a little too small for that.
I like to paddle and pedal still but this is the future of where its going with kayaks. I even have plans to put a trolling motor setup on my Pelican Catch 120. I’m gonna use a setup made by a local DFW guy names Kevin Dismuke. But electric and even gas powered small vessels are where things are headed I think. Lotta people don’t want to fight the wind and paddle long distances to there spot, or use energy to troll.
Nothing wrong with keeping it real , being a paddler Dan , but most people I know are just fishermen who sees the benefits of kayaks accessing more spots . Thats whats so confusing to me about seeing 12- 14 (kayaks) with more gear piled on than small bass boats .As for me ? The 9"7 Hobe Sport with boonedox landing gear attatched ( I know right ) , should be the ticket to what I do in a kayak . Provideing what kinda bouncy tires you can put on the boondox of course . Giant boulders , fallen tress , thick forests , etc , cant stop me bro , long as I got a water purifier , beef jerky ,& a machetee of course ! lol
I don't want to paddle... I want to fish. I want stability to stand, get to the spots, and ultimately land em'. More time your lure is in the water, the more opportunity! What's the definition of a kayak for tournament purposes?
I’ll stick with my basic BigFish 105. I’m not fancy & prefer no fish finder or trolling motor. I throw beer & ice in my pod grab my poles, tackle, paddle & pfd. Off I go. Couldn’t have a more fun time. Never once thought about wanting or adding electronics to my kayak.
When your at your honey hole and dont wanna spook the fish, you gotta use the motor or a paddle for fine adjustments in position? Doesnt seem as practical as foot controls. Still want to see an on the water video though. Saving for a titan 10.5 so this had me intrigued but not sold.
I’ve come across this because I’ve been looking into getting some sort of boat to fish but not something I need to have a truck and trailer for. Since the videos 3yrs old is there an updated model you’d recommend?
I sold my 17ft Glastron boat with a big a$$ engine. Bought a Pelican Bass Raider 10E. I couldn't be happier. No more boat ramps, trailers, registration, tires, wheel bearings and rust.
Cool looks interesting. I have a 2.5hp Honda I use on a Core Sound 17 sailboat I could use t on this along with peddles once I get to a spot or paddle.
This looks like it with beat the new Power Pelican which costs a lot more for a ten foot boat that is not set up any better. I think the true winner will be the first one that comes out with a 12 or 13 footer. That will be a lot faster and a lot more seaworthy.
I have a jon boat with tiller steering and without a seat which allows me to easily turn sideways it would be a pain the a$$ to operate. With that said I think the way you have the Jonny boat setup with the tiller steering its not going to be easy to operate unless your a contortionist. Now with the 8 ball steering and a throttle on the other side like you mentioned as an option it would be pretty sweet. Other than that it looks like it will be a pretty handy boat and fun to hook some big fish out of P.S. How will Game and Fish rate these boats? Im sure they will require them to follow the same safety rules as other small boats like a paddle , running lights, life jackets, etc etc

How much is this kayak for the Algerian currency?

In Oklahoma still have to have registration for it to be on any water.
In Ohio it's only $33 for three years for vessels less then 16 ft with a motor. No motor is only $20. I had to register my 10.5 ft pedal drive.

Do you think this would be good for offshore like striper/bluefish or anything as far as the bay !?
