    I did a 14 ft boat build back in the late 80’s with plywood only no paint or carpet, when I got into the water my little 8 hsp wouldn’t get it on plane, discouraged me so I tore it out, hope you have better luck than I did. Finally got me a 20 hsp redid my plywood with paint, carpet etc, and I was set, caught more fish out of it than my fish ski boat. I loved doing the build, you’ve done a fantastic job, keep up the great work and videos. Good luck fishing.

    fun video, one thing to consider , with marine epoxy you would not need to punch holes through your transom to mount your transducer, just remove the red paint and glue your mounting block to the bare aluminum.

    Love the build! I would pull the motor off, and 1.) put on a sawhorse and repaint the motor, the same color as factory. Same for the prop/lower unit. You can maybe get those decals from an old supplier, but if not, just clean them up the best you can. Make that motor look almost factory new again. 2.) Friend of mine got a rod rack on his bass boat, that 5- rods can be mounted laying down on side of top casting deck. Point here is, you do not have the length of the top deck as long as your rods, so the butts will hang off edge into the leg area, but not bad. It is organized in a not so wide mount, so you do not step on your bass rods, while casting. A must have... 3.) I would add another same seat on the other side, for another person to fish with you. 4.) I would mount some cup holders for drinks on the side of wall near your seats. I agree, bilge pump would be good. If you want to put a larger motor; a good 25hp merc. would get you around plenty fast. Just get a little larger tank. That's it! Great job!!

    • @hyper.orange
      @hyper.orange  2 года назад

      Okay first this comment is great, thanks! :) and yea there will be some more small upgrades. At first I wanted a 9.9 Mercury but now I'm already looking at a 25hp lol, it would absoulty fly! But for now I'm super pleased, I did this build for super low money! :)

    • @hyper.orange
      @hyper.orange  8 месяцев назад

      Yup I take it on Lake St Clair a good bit. Weather and wind direction is everything. You really got to prepare and watch when you’re on a small boat. I’m extra cautious! I don’t mess with stuff like that. Because I have a weak motor, I also am very aware of how far I go out. Because it may be nice at one point, but St Clair can turn on a dime. When it’s nice though the boat is awesome. But my advice is just extreme caution eh. Its not worth it, a lot of times I cancel it sucks but the right call.

    • @hyper.orange

    Good work. May I ask how fast it goes with 1 or 2 people onboard with that 6 hp evinrude? Worried about the speed and whether it can still on plane after so much additional weight😂

    • @hyper.orange
      @hyper.orange  Год назад

      Yea its does sometimes. Goes around 10mph/16kmph with max weight Not the fastest but better then nothing. Im planning on getting a 20hp Merc on it!
      Im just happy to be out on the water.

    • @SteveChenFishing
      @SteveChenFishing Год назад +1

      @@hyper.orange Yea that's what I would imagine. Mine goes 10 mph with 2 ppl and 16 mph with myself. 6 hp outboard.
      it would be awesome if you can put a 20 hp outboard on, just wonder is it rated for that much power? Mine only rated for 7 hp🙃

    • @hyper.orange
      @hyper.orange  Год назад +1

      Yea I hear yeah. I was looking at a 9.9hp but the 20hp only weighs 10lbs more then my 6hp. And with my weight of the boat I think it will be perfect, and regardless I just want that extra push. Heard a lot of good things about the new Mercury's so its just a matter a time! Everyhting is just so expensive now but a motor upgrade is for sure planned.

    • @SteveChenFishing
      @SteveChenFishing Год назад +1

      @@hyper.orange yea I think the weight is not the problem, but the thrust. 20 hp is much more than the weight of the motor which is only like 100 lb or so... good luck! Mercury/Tohatsu outboards did improve a lot in recent years. get the EFI ones, much better than the problematic carburators...

    • @hyper.orange
      @hyper.orange  Год назад +1
