Your son will grow up with the knowledge that anything is possible regarding mechanical contrivances, because you are simply outstanding with discarded and abandoned machines. It bouys my spirit to think that as I get older, those things that I held dear and worked with were still held in regard and still preformed as designed. It is a metaphor for life, and very good viewing on youtube.

That was so satisfying! Clean it out immediately, inspect everything, replace what needs replacing, properly fix electrical issues, including wire loom, grease and lubricate everything. I've seen too many "will it run" videos where all they care about is short-term functioning, not even cleaning things out.

I hope you take a look at the amount of Floatation Foam that has been lost, you can cut a sheet of foam and hold the pieces in place with spray foam. A single 2" x4' x8' sheet cut into pieces gives a quarter ton of positive flotation to the boat. And if you swamp the boat, the boat becomes a lifeboat to save your families' life's. Something that needs to ne looked at. But looking great!!

As for the tyres if they're not too badly cracked I'd drop the pressure to 10-15psi and run them for a mile or 2 and then pump them up to 50+psi preferably with the weight off and let them cool, works a trick for cars that have been lying up.

Nice find. I've got a 25 hp Mariner of similar vintage. Mines an 84 model. That 30 hp looks like it pulls over a lot easier than mine, but mine has never given me problems and starts right up every spring after sitting all winter for the last 12 years in a row. I'm just glad it has electric start. All I do is clean the fuel filter, drain the fuel in the winter, and change the impeller, spark plugs, and gear oil every few years. Good motors and yes the trim tab is the anode.

Best boats you can own. Inexpensive, easy to maintain, tow, store and the v can handle a lot of water for its size. I have a old 14ft Monarch v with a 1998 15 hp outboard. Holds 4 ppl and is more fun / less worry and expense per $ than any other boat I have owned. I built a frame that holds a cover over the boat and have a dolly that lets me keep the outboard in the garage.
