This is rare. A really interesting video by consummate professionals. Quiet background music, no irritating subtitles, and a HUMAN VOICE!!! Fabulous! And what a beautiful boat… once again.
Great video. Learned a lot from it. Artisans have always faked expensive looking things, and that's a skill too. Most wouldn't know the difference between an inlayed or stripped deck. Will be using some of your techniques for interior builds and speaker builds. Thanks very much. 👍
I absolutely love seeing these older boats brought back to life. Especially when they are restored as well as this one. They have more flowing designs and character than modern boats.
I don’t own a boat or plan on owning one, but I can appreciate someone who is passionate about what they do and does an incredible job at it. You gained a new subscriber!
This is the first time I have watched your films. I am very impressed with the quality of your work and the finish you have achieved. Well done. That's a fine-looking boat now.
Leave it to an incredibly knowledgeable and talented craftsman to take something that most folks would have simply trashed and turn it into an object of art and extreme envy. Beautiful work!
My father built a similar boat in his garage when I was 10. Took him 7 years. I was driving before it was launched. Couldn’t understand why it took so long, but, just like you, everything had to be perfect. If it wasn’t it was pulled out and replaced. I admire your shared skills of perfection. Before you ask it… 7 years was a) due to finances, b) not a single electric tool and c) included the building of the engine! He would have been 100 in March. He taught me to appreciate craftsmanship and professional skills….. just like the ones seen here. X
Looks great, Dan. I get why people hate the faux laid decking, but it looks sharp and doesn't hurt anything, so it's all good in my book. Looks way better than just varnished plywood.
Very thorough restoration, Dan. Obviously, the deck construction had to be reasonably consistent with the original production boat, so the ply and vinyl strip finish is spot on. I can't understand why some people expected the sort of deck you will put on Temptress - that's in a different league altogether.
Youve done an amazing job in bringing this little beauty back to BETTER than original. You are a skilled craftsman with great skills in the boat building craft. Just like your fellow Brit, Leo Goolden with the Tally Ho rebuild, your finished vessels depict superb craftsmanship and CORRECT methods along with added details to get this runabout into premium condition. BRAVO Dan
From the trash heap, to the little star of the show. Quite the head turner you have created there. Your vision and creativity are spot on. What a truly beautiful little boat that is. Very impressive!!
The wonderful work you've done seems to have resulted in a better boat The clients should be mega happy. !!! Seriously I'm in awe of the amount of work you've put in.
Wow, I just love to see craftsmen at work. As to the video itself, it just goes to show that with good editing and no music you can turn out something very watchable. Have subscribed.
nice job , as far as the deck and peoples opinions my opinion is this , it matters not , what is important is that the boat was saved from the trash dump and the boat turned out stunning
damn you guys do nice Work ! Ima Retired ProfessionalArchitectualWoodworker with over 35 years in the Field and more than 40 in Woodworking as a Hobby I’ve restored a 1964 Chris Craft Constellation built a fair amount of Furniture and I’ve done both Residential and Commercial Building , Boats in general have been One of my Passions and it’s nice to watch these videoes for my OwnEnjoyment and Education I’ve done a fair amount of Working with West Epoxy ,Fiberglass and GelCoat repairs as I grew up in Florida And I learned the Boat repairs as a Teenager
Simply brilliant. You are a consummate craftsman . Love your work and your voice overs are spot on. As somebody else wrote - “ screw the haters “. 👍👍👍👍👍
It looked very good in person. I was impressed with the qaulity of the job and the ammount time and effort that has gone into it. The finish of the laid lines on deck was very good. Really convincing, shipmate.
As I watched and saw you install the engine I was surprised to see an engine that looked like the one I used to have in my old Austin Healey Sprite. Then the boat’s name was applied and it all made sense. Thanks for awakening the memories!
Great work Dan, I have say, I am very envious of your beautiful Wadkin machinery - (the Rolls Royce of WW machinery!), and in your previous video, it was so lovely to hear when they are "digging their toes in" running boards down... Really enjoying your videos and your easily understood (many and varied) presentation(s), well done Dan.
Wow really. I have a Wadkin table saw. I got it for 20 bucks and restored it. I absolutely love it but never realized it was a rolls royce machine. Makes sense though.
@@johnsutcliffe3209 ..wow a bargain indeed John - well done ! Wadkin and Robinson wood working machines made in England were the go too for any serous joinery factory or timber molders. Where I served my apprenticeship we had a 10 head Robinson molder (simply known as a "4 Sider") and on the odd occasion when all 10 were fired (depending on the intricacy of the molding) up it was a sound to behold - so much so, the Council made us put a soundproof room around it, made all the remarkable when this was in the late 70's and Health and Safety wasn't even a "thing" then, and we were smack bang in the middle of a huge industrial area too! The Rolls Royce reference is a saying when something is in the top echelon. Happy (and safe) machining with your Wadkin saw-bench - machinery for life - in fact quite a few, such is the solid quality.
Amazing work! Currently working on refurbishing and electrifying my Polar 22 "double-ender", this motivates me to get it finish for the upcoming summer!
Your Craftsmanship is amazing! I did some composite and metal work as an aircraft mechanic. You took something that was almost trash and saved it. Beautiful. Remember, just about anyone can swap parts, this is a whole different animal. Addendum. This is the coolest video that I have watched in quite awhile. Nice!!
Beautiful work as usual Dan! I'm on board with the vinyl deck stripes but a gold leaf name really does suit me it seems. Be that as it may that boat was brought back from the depths as it were! Again wonderful job.
Screw the haters. I think it looks great.
Whoa ha-ha-ha! Those who hate anything about this work probably chop their own lines!
Totally agree. Those hating on others' work are usually the jealous and untalented ones. The boat looked absolutely amazing 👌
Who else Never gets tired of watching craftsmen ply their trade?
The owner must be more than pleased with this little beauty.
Well done, Sir.
It is a privilege to watch a true craftsman work.
That is, essentially, a NEW BOAT! I love your professionalism. Well done.
Yes, the original might well have been a cardboard template for all the rebuilding work.

This has been fun and intetesting to experience. I wish ,now at age 70, to be an apprentice helper in a boatwright shop. SUBBED !!
Good job, excellent result!

Thanks and welcome to the channel!
WOW, a lovely piece of work by yet another left-handed master of his craft (pun intended).
Being a left-hander, I noticed that as well!
WOW!! Talk about a frame-up-restoration!!! You guys sure know your stuff....& I learned a lot!!....Thank YOU BOTH!!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Such a credit to you Sir.
A thing of beauty is a joy forever.
This is the first time I have watched your films. I am very impressed with the quality of your work and the finish you have achieved. Well done. That's a fine-looking boat now.
Totally impressed by your scarf joints.
Dan, you are a master of your craft, mate, well done
Beautiful, beautiful work. That little boat is now priceless...
Well done Dan 👌👌
You’re an inspiration to all 🙂🙂
Leave it to an incredibly knowledgeable and talented craftsman to take something that most folks would have simply trashed and turn it into an object of art and extreme envy. Beautiful work!
I was expecting a basic renovation.... this is a complete rebuild and done exceptionally well, beautiful job!

Master craftsman!! WOW! You could sink this boat again and come back in 2 years and the boat would be flawless!
Quite possibly, I think we'll try and avoid sinking it from now on though 😆
@@DanLeeBoatbuilding Good plan!! Your work is breathtaking!!
Simply amazing rags to riches restoration! Sheer excellence by any measure.
Wow, I didn't knew the boat was in SUCH a bad shape. Amazing job.
Yeah it was pretty rough this one!

26:19 hello old spaniel.
Excellent job. And a lovely looking boat
This is true Craftsmanshio ! I wish everyone that restores boats, autos, aircraft, motorcycles, etc. Paid this much attention to detail
Beautiful restoration. Amazing job straightening out the keel and hull.
This is one lucky boat, from were it was and now, your work is like a piece of art, keep up the great work, I would have named the boat twice in life.
What beautiful work. You must have an amazing client with amazing deep pockets to spend so much on a tiny runabout.
This video is amazing i know almost nothing about boats put still loved watching it no clue you could rebuild a boat like that

Back from the dead. Lovely professional job. Cheers
You sir are a master crafter. The boat looks outstanding and probably has a stronger hull vs when it was new.
That’s is first rate craftsmanship. Thank you for sharing your works!
Absolutely gorgeous! I just love seeing when people take pride in their work.
high grade professionnal work.
That’s phenomenal a real work of art
This is really proper work by people who have knowledge and skills and know how to protect wood for water ingress.

I used to work for a boat refinishing in fort Lauderdale and I think you did a great job although it would have been nice to see teak and Holly

I think the finish is first class. The deck lines may be a transfer, but so what? I think they look great. Superb job. Well done mate.
Having worked on a few old boats, both wood and fiberglass, I have to say the FG hull with wooden topside is very appealing. Lovely work and results!
Wow beautiful restoration. I have never seen a Marinised BMC B-Series engine before !

Great vid Dan! Excellent tempo with the pacing. Lots of information delivered at a captivating clip!
Love the Healey boats and the Austin Healey cars, there's a great display of both at Healey's cider farm in Cornwall 😊
I'll have to check that out, we visit Cornwall at least once a year usually.
Amazing Craftsmanship!
