Hi, Im Alex, im a knife maker and RUclipsr, based out of southern Pennsylvania and my youtube channel is Outdoors55. This channel started as an outdoor backpacking channel, but quickly grew into a knife/ knife making channel. Everything I do on my channel is family friendly. I primarily focus on knife / knife making videos but occasionally throw in something different. Thank you for watching!😀

If theres any interest I can do a voiced over version. Let me know by leaving a comment and liking the video. RUclips has really taken a dislike to knife making, and some other specific content lately. Not sure whats up...I guess the same old youtube crap we've come to know and love😖 Hard to stay motivated! Thanks for watching regardless! Its always appreciated!!!

I actually love your voiceovers as it adds your personality to the video but I also know what it is like to have folks comment to just stop talking (I get it a lot on my channel and then when I don’t talk all my hardcore subs tell me they miss my voiceover, yours are way better than mine though...) I love them and look forward to them every time I get a note you’ve uploaded a new video.
I feel the hurt on the knife videos, I’ve seen the same with my axe videos. It’s like a month ago they just turned off 3/4 of my views. I guess I need to make some primitive hut swimming pool videos. 😁

I love file Knives. For several years I bought and sold file knives made by Charlie Davis at Anza Knives. Hold an edge, sharpen easy and if tempered properly can be very tough. Only issues I had were rust and staining if you don't maintain them properly.

While knives are a hobby of mine and I naturally gravitate towards videos about it, your humor and presence on camera make your videos not only a cut above the rest but also very genuine.
Anyone can film their hands as they do something but not everyone can make their personality be just as appealing as their work. Sometimes even more so, look at This Old Tony, I doubt even half of his subscribers even own a sheet of sandpaper let alone a machine shop.

While you were removing some of the guts of the tang I was wondering, have you ever tried removing some of the guts in tangs with chisels first, then cleaning up with files? Chisels are much rougher so files will certainly still be needed, but they do go faster.
edit- Voice overs are preferred, but I do not mind the quiet videos. Both are great

Good project this one for reciclyng a file. By the way... I never saw a review from you of Bahco knives which some says that they are the ones that makes the blades to Morakniv. Bahco has two types in one hand the 2444, 1446, 2446 the first one comes with the Laplander saw combo, but they all has the same thin blade, only differs in the hand grip. And then there is the 2449 which is the knife version of theyre chisel the 2448... which I belive it could be a good option to be used as a survival/bushcraft/preppin/citycraft tanto knife style and not being considered by the police as a weapon... Anyways... I consider it's a good combo, one of the first ones to be used as a personal neck knife, to eat and such, and one of the other two as a belt knife to be used for wood tasks and self defense. Would like to see a review from you though. Thanks

Question, why didn't you extend the handle scales to cover the finger notch with a rounded surface? with the pronounced spine, the file will stand out plenty. won't such a hard edges top an bottom be hot spots? your insight is very helpful thanks
