@@Dan_Ondutydriving It's an old Ixion drill press from Germany, I believe from the 1930ies. I made a short video about it, if you're interested: ruclips.net/video/bLpGtnz4YFU/видео.html
i was looking for plans and you taught me how to design my own foldable. it is interesting how you did it without any electrical tool and the final result is awesome. i will try to mine using your video as reference. Great work!!
You could've done a nice filework on the lower, motionless part of the spring, it would make this knife look so much better! Also, washers under future pin heads (maybe brass washers, to make it look better?) would prevent wood cracking when pins are hammered. Counter-sink the washers beforehand, in a slightly drilled steel plate.
Nice hand work, and I hope you don't mind if I steal your idea for the sharpener. I love your drill press. My one critique is that unless you WANT the knife to be able to open at a right-angle to the handle, why not just make the base semicircular rather than square?
Thanks! Thanks actually did the right angle snapping on purpose. I don’t like it when the knife suddenly starts to close at a random angle. I think it’s more controlled like that.

Great knife! What do you think about the mechanism of locking Urakov's knives? Can you repeat it?

WOW, actually someone who didn't overkill the craftsmanship with 6000$ worth of tools. Mad respect. What a role model. ASMR, smooth sounds.
Thanks!
"The tang has to have the same thickness in all directions" - really appreciate this attention to teaching detail.
Yeah, that is the video that has given me the most confidence about being able to do this, at my level of skill and resources.
Hey, I am glad that someone is paying close attention to this. Thanks for watching!
Knowing the entire proces, what a gorgeous end product! And it cuts like butter! And spreads, too. What a peace keeper!!
Thanks!
That's a stunning build, totally usable and all with hand tools too, well done 👏👏
Like a teacher in the classroom, step by step. Thank you very much
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
As a fellow who also made a thing this weekend, I can say, files are amazing tools
One of the most amazing tutorials I've ever seen, demonstrated the uses of currently forgotten hand tools, congratulations.
Thanks, I'm glad you like it!
Im glad i got this recommended, very good job with the minimal tools. I am inspired to make my first folding knife for a friend.
Wow, really great work! You belong to the less knife making RUclipsrs, who don't use the angle grinder, but saw and file. This is real craftmansship!
Thanks! I’m glad when people appreciate that I don’t use an angle grinder!
You got to love how the expression "It cuts like a hot knife through butter." has been reduced to "Cuts like butter". ;)
The magic that happens when you apply oil to dry wood. Very well done. "Less is more." - Ludwig Mies van der Rohe

Everything is made with hand tools and the knife looks so good. Incredible!

That drill press is awesome, I didn't even know something like this existed 🤩 very handy tool that helped creating another handy tool 😁
do you know the model?
@@jackgriffis96 i'm pretty sure it's made by Genko, but I couldn't find the exact model
@@Kleiner_Lutz It was made by Ixion in the 1930ies. Here's a video about it: ruclips.net/video/bLpGtnz4YFU/видео.html

Hey, I was going for a minimalistic look, so no ornamentation and cleanly sanded pins directly into the wood. Washers could work, though.
