There's this one really obscure run 'n gun(Well, WALK 'n gun) where you are a black haired, purple guy in red pants that could shoot fireballs, walking in a futuristic setting fighting sexy alien women that exploded in a gory shower of purple blood. The first stage at the top(I think) of a spaceship. The main character reminded me a LOT of Goku from DBZ, he even does DBZ moves like powering up, flying and that "Double Axe Hand" when he jumps on an enemy. I played that game a LONG time ago and I still haven't found what it's name was or anything, god damn.
OH My GOD! Abuse!!!....!!!!! I had that game on a demo disk around..it's gotta be close to 20 years ago and I saw images of it in my head when thinking back but could never remember the name! Thank you so much for that.
Really all I can say is one word "Respect" for bringing up not only arcade titles that anyone with access to MAME can talk about day and night in this day and age but also bringing up little known DOS titles and X68000 and PC98 titles, keep the amazing work me dear friend.
There was this run and gun type of game that I remembered as a kid, I don't remember the name of the game but I do remember what it was like. You played as a female cyborg type thing in a somewhat isometric view. When she dies, it goes into a FMV of a guy who dies and ends up dropping a locket that has a picture of his wife and daughter.
Nice video, a lot of interesting games I didn't knew about that look like worth a try, Gun Force 2 also sounded like it had a great soundtrack too. I'm not too sure by what you meant when you said you didn't know other games like Abuse (which aspect exactly?), but games that look like have similar gameplay to it are Noitu Love 2 and Bleed. I've seen before Elevator Action Returns before but had forgotten about it, and Zombies Ate my Neighbors has a Genesis version, so maybe that one has better weapon cycling. And oh boy, Dark War 2 was a game me and a buddy of mine played co-op so much of when we were kids and didn't had Internet yet (think we got the game off a magazine disc), I had totally forgotten it even existed, so that was a blast from the past right there, thanks!
Haha, didn't think any one outside of Finland would've heard of Dark War 1&2. But it's in English, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Which reminds me, I should've covered the Arena series in my SRPG video. Those are actually untranslated, and pretty deep games for being free late 90s shareware. I was under the impression that Noitu Love 2 is more of a beat em up (or something like Silhouette Mirage with the push move and lethargic rate of fire), but what I meant by the comment is that I haven't seen any other side scrollers from the 90s like that with mouse aiming. There are games like Liero/Soldat, but I mean traditional Metroid-esque platformers with mouse aiming.
literally a list of all run and gun games i am using as reference for one of my projects, great list. wish you added the names on the description with time stamps though, besides that this is a great video
+MrTeucro99 Damn, totally slipped my mind :X Sorry about that, didnt mean to leave you hangin. Postal (PC), X68000 game whose name eludes me at the moment (this time I WILL check it when I come back from work if you really need to know it), Crusader: No Regret (PC), Gunstar Heroes (Mega Drive), NARC (Arcade), Earthworm Jim (Mega Drive), ESWAT (Mega Drive), Metal Slug (Neo Geo Pocket Color), Vectorman 2 (Mega Drive), Alien Storm (Mega Drive), Contra 3 (SNES)
+MrTeucro99 No probs! I always try to include a list of used songs because I know how annoying it is to hear an awesome song in a video only to not know its name, but I'm not as diligent when it comes to gameplay footage.
I am surprised you know of Choujin and still consider Chaos Engine to be obscure. There are some recent indie run'n'guns that use m/kb, liek Megasphere and Steel Rider.
Pls help me find this game it a side scrollibg run and shooting game where thers a playable girl character with glasess and i have played it before on mame emulator and i cant find the game
+90sgamer92, 3D games are not shit. A good argument for a decent 3D shooter would be Crimson Sea and its sequel called Crimson Sea 2. You can think of those games as Contra/Gryzor/Probotector meets Dynasty Warriors/Shin Sengoku Musou.
I think I had the first one on Xbox at one point, but I sold it before I even gave it a try. I was so burned out by boring&mediocre third person action games of that console generation that I pretty much judged a book by its cover at that point. 2D games just tend to utilize the space better and have better design, always keeping up the pace. I guess something like the later stages in Serious Sam feels quite similar to that feeling of overwhelming opposition you get in good sidescrolling run and guns like Metal Slug.

Ahaa it is Thunder Hoop 2 Strikes Back
Obliterator may only have had one in-game theme, but what a theme!

That's awesome to hear! I know how annoying it is when you can't find the name of some game you played on a demo disc ages ago.
Speaking of demo games and Abuse: I've played a demo of a game that was like Abuse.
Check out Genocide by Kaos Kontrol.

wow, I'm going to have to check out Demon Front, that game looks pretty rad.

Doesnt ring any bells atm, remember what platform it was?
90sgamer92 It was for the Playstation 1
The Chaos Engine/Soldier of Fortune also had some decent ports to the SNES/Super Famicom and Sega Genesis/Mega Drive.

Nice video man. I would have liked a list of the games in the description though.
Sure thing, I'll add it when I get home today!
Yeah, I was hoping for the list too, but he does not seem to pay much mind to his channel, or he's really busy. Still...

+90sgamer92, you forgot one nice 1990s shooter that should be on your list and that is Phantom 2040.
whats a ham dancer?
You sound like a dubbed character from an anime.
how did you get Demon Front to work on Mame? I'm assuming that's what you had used to play it? Which version of MAME if you are? THanks!
Gunners Heaven has unimpressive graphics ??? They are beautiful.
Im curious about the clickbait tho
Ja ja who doesn't?
I need the sauce
