Anyone who owns a Mercedes knows how badly the dealership will rake you over the coals when it comes to repairs. Keith has saved me thousands of dollars in repair costs with his videos. No one does a better job of giving simple to follow step by step instructions. With good camera angles and expert advice.
Thanks for the DIY video clear and cut right to the point. I was able to change my pump base on your video but for some reason after installation and changing the relay the pump didn't turn on I don't know if it was because the car was already warmed up but waiting til the morning and see what happens check engine lite won't erase.
Big up for this step by step video. I saved around 400.00 as I serviced this problem 3 years ago and this year I had it avait but did it myself this time. I'm beginning to wonder if my beloved Bosch brand has some shortcomings.
Thanks a lot for helping me save $1400, which was the quote from the dealer here in Canberra, AU. I ordered the part from FCP Euro for $150, plus the relay for $5 and even I, a complete novice, managed it! I did drop the final screw though and it somehow landed behind the back lip of water pump pulley. The job would have taken about an hour but working out how to get the screw took another hour - finally got a small magnet and use magnetism to pull it out. :)
Figured I would leave a comment on the video just in case somebody has the same problem that I had. Check engine light came on P0410 with a suggestion of secondary air pump and relay. Replaced them both, cleared the code and took it for a drive. Next time I started the car my light turned back on, same code. Checked the hoses going to the control valves and one was cracked, I replaced it and still had the code. I was pretty fed up so I took it to a shop that specializes in European cars, they found that even with the new pump the pump wasn’t pushing enough air. The fix was to take apart and clean the carbon from both control valves. Figured I would post because I spent hours scouring the internet and not finding an answer as to what could be wrong after replacing the pump and relay.
My malfunction light keeps coming on my air pump has been replaced and the mercedes dealer can't figure it out either. All fuses changed might be a crimp wire like in your video
I have the same code as you. On the other hand, I have another problem, the engine marks me that I have 3 cylinders without spark. The problem if there is no acceleration above 3000 rpm, but if I do not raise the rpm I can get up to 70 mph. The problem is that it does not send me codes and I do not know if the problem of p0410 affects acceleration in that way. I don’t know if you have experience with something like that. Thank you
2011 GLK350, got the 410 code, no noise, engine runs fine now i changed the plugs and filters a month ago, I'm going to check the hoses and connections. That front cover is a PITA, those little clips have got to go, I may have messed up something trying to get it to fit right, never did
Hey brother I know it’s been awhile I hope you see this but I have a genuine question although it might sound dumb. That long bolt at the bottom, the one in the difficult spot behind the pulley. Is that just a bolt that holds the pump in place and not 1000% necessary? I ask because I couldn’t get it in there last night and it got dark so I put everything back together minus that one bolt but everything was secure. Should I be okay? Or is it vital?
Great videos. My issue is a cracked air intake hose, part # 273 090 2582 driver side for a 2011 MB E550 4 matic. Item is discontinued and I bought a aftermarket which wound up being short . Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Hi there. Gotta say that this videos are extremely helpful, especially for MB owners and for that, I'm thankful. I know this is not a transmission segment but wanted to post this question to a recently posted video so you can see it. I've had my '08 ML350 since Feb this year and noticed that at times, when I floor it, the transmission seems to downshift into 1st gear and it tends to stay there making the engine rev up like crazy (it scared me the 1st time) and it won't shift out of 1st until I paddle shift or lever shift up. So the question is; have you ever seen this happened? and dos, what do you think causes this issue? Again, thanks for all the help you provide.
While removing the connector for the air pump, I broke it and it completely fell apart. Do you know which part number it is? I have not had success finding the replacement for it. Would it be ok to just slide the broken connector over the 2 prongs on the air pump since it feels like a tight fit.
Thanks for the video, it was very detailed & comprehensive. I just replaced my secondary air pump on my 2003 E350 4matic, & with your video I was able to do it with ease. BTW my check engine light is still throwing a P0410 code after the replacement. What do u think is the issue? Thanks again.
Ok I changed the pump and the check engine light is gone. I got a cheap after market pump for $81. But now there is a whistling noise for a few minutes may 3 or 4 mins. I'm OK with the noise but is it OK mechanical wise? I hear it could drain the battery. But it doesn't stay on. Will try to clean/fix the original one.
Nice video. So you still changed the pump although it tested okay? I tested my pump & it runs fine. Will try to check vacuum lines for any cracks or disconnections without removing the pump.
need help on my 2007 Mercedes CLK350 my secondary air pump.i replace new relay and fuse is good but no power 12 volt to air pump. i test air pump with 12 volt direct from battery ok. have any idea ?
That wiring to the pump only has 12 volts at engine startup and only when the vehicle is in open loop. Usually when the engine is cold. Are you getting error codes?
Hello, I barely know anything about cars but with your videos, i'm getting an understanding. I want to test the secondary air pump, what do i need to purchase to do that? I know I have to disconnect the power supply and the 2 prongs are there.
You need a 12 volt power source. Alligator clips to connect up the prongs to the source. You must check the fuse first. What error codes are you getting?
Code P0410, I have checked the fuses, my coolant is ok. First start of the day, my air blows cold, then turns hot after the fan goes off. My temperature warning light turns on. I purchased a MaxiDiag MD808 Pro, It also says Secondary Air injection System and the actuator motor for the air distribution flap has a malfunction. I Have a 2008 Mercedes C300 sport 90,000 miles
Hello. I parked my 2007 Mercedes e350 for a week and now it seem like the car is dead. I jump started and left it running for one hour. When I shut the engine and try to start the car it was completely dead that I even can’t turn the key. Help please
Thanks for the video. I use a multimeter to check the 40A fuse and relay are working, but found the pump is burnt. Following this video, I replace the pump. I use OBDII to attempt to clear the check engine light but the CEL still on. I look at the MB dealer's repair estimate$2180 which includes pump, relay and fuse, and particularly two more shut-off valves. I highly doubted both valves. Is there a video showing how to check the valves and replace them if needed? www.mercedespartssales.com/oem-parts/mercedes-benz-valve-0021408360 www.mercedespartssales.com/oem-parts/mercedes-benz-valve-0021407460
I bought the air pump $ 162 and took one hour of work and there was no more noise thank you very much
I really appreciate the video going over every step and showing details with the camera rather than just talking about it. Thank you!
I don't know how much more easier this could've been. Love watching this brother work. You gonna turn me into a mechanic watching you bro.

the detailed camera view is awesome. Well made!
Thanks!
Great quality video. Very detailed with step by step instructions. I completed the job thanks to you!
Thank you for this air pump install video! Very detailed and clean cut instructions. I was able to swap mine out with confidence. Thank you Sir.
Replacing my pump tomorrow… not an mechanic but your video made it look simple. Thank you and wish me luck 🎉
I have gotten very good instruction from other videos you've made. Perfectly detailed explanation in this one and clear camera work brother!
Excellent step by step instructional video. Thank you! :)
Exactly what I needed. Very detailed instruction. Well done and a big thank you sir!
very good camera position , recording and explanation , bravo❤
Love the video. Great graphics. Good explanation. Good mic. Nice zoomed in view. Nice and simple.
Great job. Super helpful showing the bolt locations.
You are the only one who make this job bearable. You manage to capture the screw locations that matter and I thank you for that effort.
Great video. Clearest camera work I've ever seen. I wish everyone could be that good.
Thanks 👍
Thank you for demonstration. Looks fairly simple to replace.
Man I love your videos. I’ve saved so much. Keep up the amazing work.
This was the first video I watched of your and you are an excellent instructor.
Update 😳 Did mine and it took less than a half hour and it wasn’t bad and it works great 😇 Thank you 😊
AWESOME VIDEO!! THANK YOU! Going to check out your other videos now. Subscribed!
Beautifully done!

This is good news. Glad it worked out.
do you have the link for where you got everything?
@@panduhgaming5473 just go to fcpeuro.com and select your model from their drop down lists

Great stuff
Amazing tutorial
Thanks
Great Video! Thank you!
Your videos have been very helpful with me taking my car to the mercedes dealer
Glad that they help. Have the videos given you an understanding of what work is being done on your car at the dealership?
Yes indeed they do . I do most of the work now myself now
Awesome! Want kind of video would you like me to do next?
Can't think of any at the moment I already did the spark plugs, front and rear differential, oil change.
My malfunction light keeps coming on my air pump has been replaced and the mercedes dealer can't figure it out either. All fuses changed might be a crimp wire like in your video
Great video!!!
great video brother
Very nice video 👍🏽
Beauty, thanks!
Blessed!!! Give Thanks!!!
do you know how to change and where the relay and fuse is for the secondary air pump?
Great job sir my 08 c300 has a p0410 code but the check eng light doesnt come on until im done driving it for the day(4 or 5 start ups)
Great video. Will that clear the check engine light then? Thks...jc
Thanks

Is it possible to fix the actuator without removing the intake?
how do you know if the fuse to the secondary has failed on the ml350?
Ok will check
“Relatively simple.” Only until you show us. Thanks a lot #BlackMechanicsMatter

Sounds like your transmission fluid maybe low. When was the last time you had your transmission fluid flushed? How many miles are on a vehicle?
Sounds like erratic shifting could be tcm not having good communication with the fuse box

The 2 valves on the heads?
O2 sensor?
What are the symptoms despite the fault code, that caused it to be replaced? Any loud noise from engine bay at idle?
Will a bad secondary air pump cause the car to run rough as you accelerate
Im currently missing the first 2 bolts you removed on the top, what is the part number or name to that bolt??
So question and I'm sorry if it sounds dumb but what's the purpose of the the secondary pump for? Very good video 👍
It pressurizes and forces on burnt hydrocarbons on cold starts in the exhausts manifold for recombustion. It's all about emissions...
Franklyn Ordonez exactly what I didn't know! 👍
Is this for W220 models?
Gracias por dar la explicación en español
Ok I changed the pump and the check engine light is gone. I got a cheap after market pump for $81.

Will not hurt. Just that cheap parts make weird noises and burn out
Is this w204 by any chance? I need to replace mine and was suggested to repalce the relay as well but i do not know where it is... any one know?
this is the W164
Nice video. So you still changed the pump although it tested okay? I tested my pump & it runs fine. Will try to check vacuum lines for any cracks or disconnections without removing the pump.
Hi Rodrigo, I reinstalled the pump after it proved to be good.
iRepair Autos Thanks a bunch!
How come you could not test it after disconnecting power lead on pump while still installed? Thks..jc

Hello, did you see my reply?
hi,what about if the pump is working,i check the fuse and the relay and pump does not work!!!
The y hose with the plastic hose next to it my rubber part ripped and Mercedes can't find the part
My air injection pump is good, my relay is good and my fuse is good. Any idea what to check next for P0410?...thks..jc
What Mercedes is this for model?? Year??
What year Mercedes-Benz?
Thanks for the video...can you believe that the shop where I get my car serviced wants like $800 to replace that... highway robbery!!!
👍🤗
P0810 and P0410 is mostly related to AFR and O2 sensor malfunction.
I just did this on my c300 2010 and changed the fuse and relay but the engine light is still on
Check small houses that go from it. Probably a cracked hose.
@@iRepairAutos ok I will thank you been driving and cel is still on I’m going to replace all the hoses that gon on the secondary air pump and see

It might be the battery, the alternator, or both. Have you seen my video on how to test the battery and alternator?
Test your battery and alternator. Here's my video on these two procedures. ruclips.net/video/iHwaZxjrtg0/видео.html
It's definitely the small battery under your passenger side seat!!!!!
Its probably the ESL, research ESL and send the switch and your key to one of those guys on Ebay that can program an emulator for you
am getting same code.but pump does come on
You could have a broken vacuum hose leading from the pump. Check all hoses connected to the pump.
Wish it was the easy on the w211 e550
