We changed the transmission fluid shortly after we bought our 2017 Nissan Rogue because it was starting starting to shudder, and no we didn't use the factory garbage fluid, we put amsoil CVT full synthetic fluid which is a much more superior product and no problems ever since. 👍🇨🇦

Iv had my 2016 Nissan rogue form new only owner I’ve taken it across half of Canada car has not only performed physically but it has performed amazingly I’ve taken my rogue through mountains snow road so sharp etc wile driving this machine 200km continuously never failed me never lost control nothing it did exactly what I needed it to do I’ve owned this car for 6 years I payed maintenance once I felt ripped off never again against warranty did all the maintenance my self and just had a full inspection cars perfect I have none of these issues you talk about. I trust this car with my life I’ve taken care of it by doing easy things to do wish any one should be able to do. Warranty was done after 3 years or a 100k am at 110k
All way put full synthetic new filters engine flush every time just reached 11000k I’d expect I do an oil change oils still 80 clean and fells still thick it’s a nice golden light brown looks like it was put in a month ago Nissan rogue is a great car there everywhere. I’ve never seen my model and year broken down

Everybody's saying Nissan cvts are crap. I got a brand new Nissan rogue 2020. It's now run 9000kms. What I have experienced is that the cvt is not the culprit, it's the software system that synchronize the engine rpm, load, other conditions to select which cvt ratio to use.
The software is not efficient to read sensors and map to a fine tuned cvt ratio instead it tries to keep the engine in the optimum fuel efficiency mode which actually affects the right selection of cvt ratio. This leads to jerks and shuddering because of wrong engine rpm, load vs cvt ratio hence putting load on the cvt belt thereby reducing its life and damaging internal components ultimately leading to cvt failure.
I came to this conclusion after carefully listening to the engine and cvt sounds and the way car behaves at almost every instance in time and driving conditions like rolling, turns, uphill, downhill and how cvt changes its ratios.
I think Nissan needs to find a balance between fuel economy and cvt performance instead of keeping the engine in efficiency mode always.
Also, there is a bit of resistance in cvt when the car is slowed down just before a full stop and gently revved up against instead of stopping. The cvt shows signs of wrong ratio selection and makes the car lethargic. The car runs perfectly when started from a full stop but show signs of incorrect engine to cvt ratio mapping in conditions involving frequent slowing and revving to follow the traffic. You have to wait for the cvt to switch to correct ratio before revving the engine again to make it perform smoothly. You can actually feel when the cvt changes the ratios.
Also I have disabled the auto engine braking and trace control to avoid putting extra synthetic software load on the transmission which made it run much better than if those settings were enabled by default

@@tiahines397 it's a 2020. You've barely had it for maybe a year and a half, you clearly have not driven it enough to experience the problems everyone is having. There's a reason behind the negative connotation with the CVT's. It's too early to fail.

Heating issue: Using either a Nissan or above average home scan tool you can perform a few operations to address this problem. The blend door actuator (hot / cold) can get out of calibration. The scan tool can initiate calibration and possibly restore correct heating / cooling. There's also a programmable temperature offset of up to +/-6 degrees fahrenheit that adjusts the output temperature from the vents vs. the configured temperature on the user control panel in the vehicle. Finally there are adjustments for where air should come from, floor, def, center, that can be configured by the scan tool. This is an important consideration, IMHO, because the calibration, offsets, and other adjustments are lost if the battery is removed or disconnected. There is more detail about this in the Nissan Rogue Service manual if there are any questions about what I've said...

Since this video was done Castrol came out with its TransMax transmission fluid that for the first time crosses the CVT/ geared transmission barrier. Ratings looked really good, and I tried in on my Nissan NV200 van. Runs great. A gallon on Amazon is only $24 and is rated to replace Nissan NS 2, and 3. Also good for Toyota and Honda. Really helped lower my costs for maintenance.

I went to a Mercedes dealer because they had used cars that I was interested in. A four-year-old SUV for a reasonable price. Me and my family including children tested Toyota RAV-4, Honda CRV and coincidentally Nissan Roque Midnight SV. All with a similar mileage. After a few hours when we had to choose, everyone unanimously agreed that Nissan is the best. Something was wrong with Toyota, and something was wrong with Honda. In general, in my case, it was the super comfortable and quiet ride as well as the good design and layout at the front of the cabin that decided. I did not expect such a choice. This car, despite its flaws, makes an impression and has something about it.

Ok, I have a 2019 Rogue with 32,000 miles bought it in 2019. Still has new car smell and have babied it. What sold me on the Rogue was its roominess and bigger suv feel. Yeah the 4 cylinder engine is underpowered but have gotten 37 mpg. I don’t abuse it because of the transmission. My only problems so far is the driver’s door lock and mechanism which have been replaced twice. Because of the transmission being a cvt I am thinking of trading it in. I have had all maintenance done including transmission oil change and will change at every 15,000 miles. It’s too bad the transmission is so delicate! I have never driven it in the snow either and it’s garaged. Not impressed with Chevy and Chrysler and ford because the dashboard looks cheap. Chevy suvs look similar to my old Malibu maxx that I once owned. But until I find something newer program vehicle with factory warranty I do and will drive my Rogue like an old lady. I don’t have $50,000 to pay for a new SUV and won’t buy anything that was in an accident ever! I want to roominess of the rogue in my next purchase but no cheap plastic dashboard, CVT, a bigger screen on the dashboard and at least a hybrid. But since getting the door fixed twice I am beginning to wonder about the quality of this vehicle? Or should I just get an extension on factory warranty and baby it which I already do. ?

I ordered the exhaust manifolds and I’m hoping it’s that and engine light is on and says both banks are running lean. And it rarely starts to shake like as if it’s misfiring when at a stop light only done it 2 times it’s started the noise when the O2 exhaust sensors went bad almost a month ago so I replaced them but the noise is still there do y’all have any idea what it could be if it’s not the manifolds

My 14 rogue is still performing like a champ. No major issues so far, just brakes and the usual stuff so far. No reason to AVOID the rogue, just treat your vehicles well. Not to mention it’s better looking than any RAV 4, the comparison vehicle to the Rogue from Toyota.

@@reductio1000 Not true. I have a 2015 made in Japan and it is junk. AC issues every year, failed cooling fan, front struts make noise, the brakes clunk when changing directions, Interior rattles and squeaks, rough idle.....You get the idea. Some of these issues started within the first year of purchase and continue to be a problem 6 years later. Thank GOD I purchased an extended warranty. It has paid for itself more than twice already.
