What you need to know before you buy a used Nissan Rogue: Make sure you check the CVT, the paint, and the A/C for the EVAP Sensor!

My 2017 rogue is at 94k still going strong. Change the CVT fluids every 30-40k. I keep up the maintenance so far it’s been treating me well

I bought the 2015 SL trim, which looks similar to this one about 3 weeks ago from Carvana.. Not fully loaded, but had some nice features like leather interior and heated seats. At first I was worried about going from mid-size to compact SUV/crossover, but at 6'1 I was pleased with how roomy. it was. More importantly gas millage a Rogue gets is really hard to beat, while other little things like ease of use of the info-tainment system is nice as well. Overall I am pleased with the Rogue. Having the information on checking the CVT and A/C is great, because I hope tp keep the Rogue for a while, so I want to make sure is well maintained.

I bought my 2017 Nissan Rogue SV brand new for $26k out the door. Looking at used prices now I should’ve waited to buy it as Certified Pre Owned I would’ve saved so much money! Nissan’s depreciate like crazy! It’s a great car tho. I’m at 59k miles and only had to get one wheel bearing replaced and it was covered under warranty.

    • @CarQuestion

That’s why I see a lot of them over here. The price is good if it’s used, even slightly!

Well as a former owner of a Nissan Murano I would say stay away from all Nissan products that has CVT. Above all all Nissan Dealers treat customers worse than the worst supermarket service ever.

Car Question that plus the transfer case oil leak where the dealer said it was because of not using the all wheel drive which is controlled by the car plus steering leak that would have costed over $8k to fix It was very well kept always maintained and always garaged and had very low miles of under 40k. The issues was confirmed by another mechanic. Above all every Nissan dealer I have been at now all resemble an assembly line

I have a 2009 SL AWD in New Hampshire. Not a terrible car at 200,000 miles, but don’t skip transmission fluid changes. Underbody rust is an issue and it eats through tie rods. Front axle tends to leak after a while and needs replacing, and my alternator died once, but there are worse choices on the market. It’s very good in the snow. This comment only applies to the 2009-2013, and the Rogue selects.

My mother had one as a dealer loaner while they had their 2001 Pathfinder 4x4 serviced. The rear hatch tweaks a lot! And there are odd rubber bumpers on the rear hatch that broke off-having it just a few days.

Car Question her pathfinder has 98k miles and the Rouge was a 2019 with 23k miles. The back hatch had noticeable flex when you went to close it. Could be a one off due to the loaner but wasn’t impressed. Nissan used to make amazing SUVs and Trucks. Feels like the Frontier although dated in looks is the last real “off road” car they make. I really appreciate your content and I like your facts/commentary you include it’s balanced and a good mix.

I have the same model (X-trail 2.5), same coulour. All the family like the car, even my father and my mother.
When I went to the official garage to change the cvt fluid, they said to me that is (for this model) a lifetime oil. We dont have to change it. Confused, I went to a random garage and they said "if you want, we can aspirate some fluid and reful the same amount". Any recommandation? What do you think?

Had a 2018 Rogue and I got rid of it two months ago. It literally stalled on me on the highway and I almost got rear ended by a FedEx truck. This is the worst vehicle I've ever owned and it ended my relationship with Nissan and Infiniti. I'll never waste a penny buying one of these again. Nissan has lost their way, this is very unfortunate.
