      I agree. I think most of the hate Nissan gets is from people who neglect maintenance.
      I got a 2019 Sentra 110k miles. Only “issue” I had was the transmission slipping at 80k. Which went away immediately after the fluid change.
      But that was because I trusted the dealership when they said they changed the transmission fluid when I bought it at 60k miles.

      I drove my 2016 Altima SR last November from FL to NC and back that had 120k miles, and got 42 mpg, making it to NC on 1 tank of gas. I bought the car new in CA back in 2016 and took many trips from San Diego to LA on some weekends. Never ever had CVT issues. Always kept up the maintenance. California has tons of hills and mountains I drove, and the car was a tank. Currently at 133k, still runs like new. The haters are going to hate no matter what.

      @@Dilberts_Dogbert Sure:
      1) Online magazines (eg Edmunds are automatically corrupt and in bed with the car makers. Dismisses all positive press in the process.
      2) It gets 30 miles per gallon. Except, it routinely does much better than that. It does better than the RAV4, CR-V, CX-5, for example.
      3) Sits there and compares a Matrix to it, and therefore, the Rogue is coined as unimpressive. Overlooks the fact that the Rogue is much larger and much heavier, yet is able to compete in gas mileage. That's impressive, but Scotty tries to sell it is meh, it sucks. Plus all the condescending laughies that come with it.
      4) Americans go for more horsepower, being the reason the Matrix isn't a thing anymore. Ridiculous! Again the car is large and heavy in comparison. It needs that power to do its thing. It's not a high horsepower car. Again, ridiculously put by Scotty.
      5) Oh all this complicated stuff like cvt, but it only gets 30. Again, that's incorrect, and again, what's with the obsession of comparing it with the Matrix.

    I own a 2023 Nissan Kicks (little brother vehicle of the Rogue) SV 1.6L 4cyl with about 7k miles on it. I've noticed a few things. The exterior safety sensors don't work if dirty, Scotty is right. But, if its too sunny out, they also won't work properly either. Also, the Kicks only gets 31MPG city where I would have expected more. And, its lacking in power. Its so lacking in power that I think its borderline unsafe to drive because cars routinely try to pass me because I'm trying to accelerate (I don't like to floor it) too slowly. Going up a steep hill is just bad and you can really feel the lack of power. One of the good things is that I don't notice what everyone is complaining about with Jatco transmissions/Nissan transmission configs and I don't feel the gear shift feeling except when I floor it. I make decent $$ and once the warranty is over, I will probably trade in for something else.

Was thinking about getting the 2025 model that’s coming out but not so thrilled that the horsepower is about the same. I currently have a 2018 Versa note. Fun little car to drive in, but I feel ya. So many cars are passing just because I accelerate slow as well so as to not ruin the transmission prematurely. I’m currently at 45,000 city miles. All stop and go traffic. Warranty ended last year. Not in a position to trade or buy another vehicle due to financial reasons. I just hope it lasts with regular maintenance.

    I've had my 22 Rogue SV for 1.5 yrs, very happy overall but I've had an issue with the AC temp: the air coming out of my two vents is just slightly warmer than the air coming out of the passenger-side vents. The dealer did an update a few months back and it seemed to get both sides even on the temp, but now it's doing it again. I can live with it, just ticks me off that I have to adjust them manually. The turbo is raspy when you kick it, otherwise it's a smooth quiet ride and I get 32 mpg overall. I just think newer cars have too much technology that is not perfected.

    Not sure what to make of this video. I have a Rogue. First of all, I'm getting about 33mpg around town. I get better mileage on the highway, except in dense city highway traffic. Also, turning on the racing flag kicks in the turbo so that the power is ready and waiting. You can put it in eco mode, which works for most things, but lacks gusto. My problems with the vehicle have more to do with the fact that it has a terrible ride and feels cheap. I don't care for it, but I'm very pleased with the fuel economy. Comparing the mpg of a Rogue to a Matrix is kind of absurd since the Rogue is much larger. The three cylinder engine with the turbo has more than adequate power and the Rogue has a lot more room in it. It's too early to tell how reliable it will be, but this video does not give an accurate assessment of the cars plusses and minuses.

    When a tire blows on an all wheel drive vehicle, you can replace only one tire. You just need to have it ground down to the same circumference as the remaining tires. If no regular tire dealer has the equipment to do this, look for a racing shop. If they are all very worn, they should be replaced anyway. I have owned all wheel drive vehicles for 25 years (I live in a climate where that is a good idea) and never had a tire failure other than simply wearing out. In fact, my previous front wheel drive vehicles never had a tire failure except for one that was defective upon purchase.

And when ask about this the manufactures say its not for better mileage but for better emissions. So they still use the same amount of fuel but burn a higher percent of the fuel that they use. Lol. I’ve always felt that the reason the older Honda’s and Toyota’s lasted so long was because they had larger 4 cylinders that only created 100hp so they are not working super hard. Now they are doing the opposite. Small engines putting out 250+ HP.

I don’t know where he’s getting this info and this whole video just sounds biased against the new rogue. It’s not even a comparable vehicle to a Nissan matrix, which btw actually gets worse than 30 mpg, and is nearly half the size of a new rogue. All those trouble codes are normal, most new cars get misc codes like that when you unplug the battery. You don’t get a dash light for it so why even bring it up as an issue? The owner said it was running fine. This video really is just an unfair exaggeration.

  • @philitinthecup
    @philitinthecup 3 месяца назад

    I can almost guarantee you the reason why those codes popped are all due to the amp-meter on the negative battery terminal. They are tuned too low for anyone that doesn't drive the car every single day for at least 30 minutes at a time, letting the car idle is not enough to charge the batteries. Leaving the car 2-3 days without driving it will drain the battery and set those codes. I've seen it on pretty much every new Nissan I have worked on that has that amp-meter installed, those codes are always sitting inside tucked away.
    That is not to mention if you don't clean the throttle plate properly, or have it cleaned and idle relearned (around every 20-30k miles), it'll set a P0101 MAF SEN CIRC DTC. People will go get it scanned, and try to solve it themselves by replacing the Mass air flow sensor. Do not do that! Especially if you try to install an aftermarket sensor! New Nissans do not like to cooperate with aftermarket electricals!
    Also, if you have a Kicks, do not use aftermarket engine air filters, not even the cheaper one that Nissan themselves offer, OEM only!
    I have seen those trip a P0101 and confuse the hell out of mechanics trying to solve the concern.

      I agree, just bought a new 22 4runner trd pro last yr. We are bailing on Honda for good after a long line of good ones, the paint job on our last 2014 at 60K has pretty much failed. 7-8 yrs and paint is done for. No excuse for that, the clearcoat has failed over the entire vehicle. No mechanical problems with the crv but did replace tiny oem batt with a 24F due to low voltage from day one. Wasn't enough reserve voltage to play the radio for 20 mins sitting. The 24F batt fixed all that as well as alarm system now doesn't run down the batt.

    Thanks Scotty!!! I had never seen this 1.5 litre 3 cylinder engine before and I would certainly never purchase one!! In Italy we have mainly smaller engined cars and many are diesel whereas I know that the USA is almost totally a petrol engine market. But I have seen the same here, almost all makers now offer 3 cylinder engines with a turbo and sure they make power BUT they are hopeless to drive and they have to be driven hard to the fuel consumption in the real world is TERRIBLE. The Ford engine seems to be the worst from what I read. As Scotty says this is totally NOT progress!!
    My van has a 2.2 turbo diesel engine. My car is a 4.2 V8 and my motorbike is a 1000cc 4 cylinder Honda. I love a big lazy engine cos they perform well and last for ever.

    I think Scotty’s point is the matrix is a compact with a hatch and the rogue is intended to be the same thing-a Sentra with a hatch but they sell rogues by following the “lifted hatchback with awd and call it an SUV” trend when most people don’t even need it. Scotty has said that he raised his boys with little Toyota sedans that were far smaller than what is considered a “family car” nowadays. People are spending money they don’t have on oversized cars they don’t need that won’t even make it to 200k miles anyways.

    • @BoopSnoot

    • @joeylara4
      @joeylara4 Год назад

      @@BoopSnoot well, given that a matrix can be bought in cash and a rogue goes for $30k+, you would expect a reliable car and Nissans aren’t reliable anymore. The rogue has a 0-60 speed that’s merely one second faster than an old matrix and it only has about two more inches of rear legroom. So yeah, you’d be better off with a slightly smaller and far less expensive car, or a motorcycle!

Why they switched from the 4 to this 3 with the crazy tech is beyond me. They did get more horspower on the change but they could have added a turbo to the 2.5 if they wanted more power.

    Yeah, this is where you get it all wrong. See, you're not comparing it apple to apple. That Matrix is a small car. BIG difference. More than 50% lower gas consumption. That's where those technology comes in

    Daughter owns a 2019 Nissan Versa SV, 1.6L I-4 NA engine. That car is horrible in gas mileage and maintenance. The radiators, there are two of them, are angled towards the Driver side of the front grill, had to install a new fuel Pump, new Alternator, new Battery, and new tires. On top of that, the Versa has already been recalled twice for the backup camera, has another one to correct the last two recalls, and now it's throwing a computer code that says the ECM can not communicate with the BCM and the TCM. Yes, Nissan looks good, but like Scotty said, they are rolling piles of junk.
