Great video - thanks Hannah! Liverpool's always been a musical city, though I grew up there amid less civic confidence, more nervous introspection. Delighted how much more vibrant it's become in the meantime; in particular, how many younger folks have chosen to make Merseyside their home. Quite telling that in your voxpop about halfway through, only the final interviewee was a true Scouser! And I don't say that in a mean way - we welcome anyone who's keen to become part of our community. Everyone who spoke, projected the values that define the great people of my beloved city.
Great video! Wish it was 10 minutes longer to show off the beautiful historic buildings (like the 2 cathedrals) and also talk about how important the football also is to the city..
I'd many nights out in Liverpool growing up there but have fond memories of one in particular - we were drinking in one of the city's oldest Irish pubs, and got chatting to a couple of tourists from the US. We all found much to talk about and had a great time - we'd to leave at 11pm for the last train home; they seriously offered to pay for taxis as we were all having such great craic! But as we left: "This was great, you guys. We were out in Manchester last night, nobody there was any fun at all." Handshakes turned into hugs after hearing that! Both are great cities - and it's touching that Manchester tries so hard to catch up. :)
Liverpool has a nice skyline, is by the water, enjoys the legacy of the Beatles and its airport is used by low-cost and charter carriers. Manchester has a very strong, diverse and continuous musical heritage due to many very successful artists putting it on the map *for decades*, had a tremendous impact in the nation's history and is still the third biggest city in the country, with an international airport to match. There is no comparison.
@Bellasie Well that's my opinion! Used to deliver to theatres in Liverpool. So basically never really saw much of it. Decided to spend a few days there to do the Beatles tour, visit a few museums etc. Probably the best time I've had for a long time. The Beatles tour bus guides were hilarious.
