My parents met whilst both working at The Adelphi in the early 1960’s. Three decades later we visited Liverpool for a familyreunion and stayed at The Adelphi in a suite (with jacuzzi) on an upper floor for the weekend and it was lovely. I stayed at the Adelphi in December. It was an emergency booking made online at an hour's notice after a disaster with another accommodation I had booked and I arrived at 9.00 pm. My room was fine. It was clean and comfortable although the windows were very draughty. The breakfast was fine and it was cheap and in a great location as I was departing from Lime Street that morning. While it did not compare with the Leonardo where I had spent the previous night it was good value for money.

We stayed in a lovely hotel in Liverpool for 4 nights. ( clearly not The Adelphi) I can honestly say I’ve never met such friendly people as the Liverpudlians.
My home town. I love The Adelphi, have some great memories going there and staying there over the years. Its got character. ( it does remind me of the shining too 😂) Theres a pub under it too the left that was called Fridays, an a Nightclub under it to the right that was called Saturdays, Spent many a wkend in both 😂
Haha brilliant! I had one of my first jobs as a waitress in the breakfast room in there. The customers were all quite posh men breakfasting there before going off to their offices. I don’t remember any of them leaving a tip😝. That was early 70’s, I didn’t stay there long haha.
Amazing place James and Helen, you're vlogs just get better and better, absolutely off the chart guys, Thanks so much...we love Greece, and it was a great reminder for us in that lovely Restaurant.✅✅✅👍💓
I stayed there 5 or 6 years ago. I, like an idiot, left a cash bag containing around £4000 from a church collection when we left and drove on to Bangor, North Wales. I didn't discover this until next morning. I rang the hotel to find that a member of the cleaning staff had handed the bag in immediately. I couldn't be giving away church money, so when I drove straight back to collect the bag, I left the cleaner £50 out of my own pocket. Can't complain about the honesty of the staff. Not the best place to stay, and the breakfast experience was like a cattle market, awful. But some things make up for a lot in other ways.
We went to Liverpool on the Beatles tour and stayed at the Adelphi it was run down but you could see it would be beautiful in it’s day i bet the staff have to put up with abuse daily so sad as usual guys your vlogs are great👍

I used to get the bus home from Lewis’s dept store ,the big grey building caddy cornered to the Adelphi in the 1960s .It was very posh then ,I always wanted to go in but there were always doormen in the front.I eventually went in the reception area in the 1980s it was looking shabby then .Did you happen to see the men’s toilets ? I hear the room is all done in marble .havnt been in there myself.
We've stayed at the Adelphi a few times, the price and location are great but the rooms are not. The worst we stopped in was a windowless basement room, that was scary. In December we're going to try the Liner hotel for a change. We love Liverpool, so much to do and see, the pubs are fantastic.
Hiya You 2. I don't suppose that could stick a list on, of the pubs that you've been to. Wouldn't mind doing that run. Great and content as always. Thanks

That bathroom is the same as what was newly installed in 1979 , I stayed there when they where new ,they also had thick light beige carpet on the floor !
The room you had was a cabin room. Cunard / The white star line, wanted to prepare their wealthy passengers for their voyage. The Adelphi was a stunner back then, and only for the very rich.
My Dad's first job was as a Bell Boy in 1935 at the age of 13. Hotel was a place where many American film star would stay, using the passenger lines from New York to Liverpool to get to London /Europe. He ended up working on the White Star /Cunard ships
Lovely……..but staying there why just why 😂 I stayed there when I was invited to the Hillsboro charity gig ( my friend was involved)me and my daughter were so excited to be staying in Liverpool and wanted to go to a club mainly the Cavern but after dinner the first night we wasn’t allowed 😮😂, we come from London 🤷♀️but my mates hubby said it was too dangerous for us to go alone , we were right peed off !!! Me and my grown up daughters went back for a weekend for my 50th and had a great time…the people were very friendly……..what shocked me was the fact that men held doors for us not like at home when they let the door slam in your face 😂🙄 Plus the Cavern was magical and they sang Hey Jude for me (embarrassing ) We didn’t stay at your hotel but in a Travelodge by the Mersey …..bloody lovely to go to the Beatles museum ect ect…..
Glad you enjoyed The Big House (nobody calls it by its real name, The Vines) and The Phil. The folklore surrounding McKenzie’s Pyramid is that he was an avid gambler and was entombed sitting in a chair at his card table with a hand of cards. Supposedly playing the Devil for his soul.
Spent 1 night in room 503 on a military do in Liverpool. There was no water, the bath was backed up and you couldnt flush the toilet. Rudely awoken by loud chanting (possibly religious) at 2am Terrible smell emanating from behind the radiator That was in 1998 God only knows what its like now, although it doesnt seem to have had a lick of paint Glad to see you again guys God bless 🙏
Lovely to see you both having a wonderful time food looks so nice and the pubs looks so fancy won’t talk about the hotel 😂 it’s nice to have a wonderful time 😊

Hi guys we stayed at adelphi in 2010, we left a bit of dirt on the floor to see if it would be hoovered during our stay and it wasn't 😂I was a room maid 16 yrs and I wouldn't have got away with it, loved Liverpool tho, massive beatles fan ❤
Great Video ❤️👍Love the shower gel 👍Must admit it is a huge hotel must try it out 🥳🥳
3:51 I love how Helen is just stood there like 🧍🏼♀️😂
I used to get the bus home from Lewis’s dept store ,the big grey building caddy cornered to the Adelphi in the 1960s .It was very posh then ,I always wanted to go in but there were always doormen in the front.I eventually went in the reception area in the 1980s it was looking shabby then .Did you happen to see the men’s toilets ? I hear the room is all done in marble .havnt been in there myself.
Great Vlog love the Hype your getting good at this! Nice video well done thanks for cheering me up!
God I loved this ! Liverpool is my city and your right it is friendly and safe and beautiful. Please do more of these videos x
We've stayed at the Adelphi a few times, the price and location are great but the rooms are not. The worst we stopped in was a windowless basement room, that was scary.
In December we're going to try the Liner hotel for a change.
We love Liverpool, so much to do and see, the pubs are fantastic.
Great City to visit 👍restaurant looked great 👍
Great to see you guys in lpool.
Hiya You 2. I don't suppose that could stick a list on, of the pubs that you've been to. Wouldn't mind doing that run. Great and content as always. Thanks
Just the two in this video - The Vines & The Philharmonic Dining Rooms
There should a cover on them Pillows, Love your Blogs Love Love Liverpool. See you soon, Janet Kelly.
Thank you Janet
Hi, Just found this video and subscribed. You seem a great couple. Look forward to watching more content. Glad you enjoyed Liverpool. An amazing place 😊👍
Stayed in this place 6 years ago in a smoking room. The bathrooms were straight out of a lunatic asylum 😮
Agree, but original Victorian tiled splendor.
Smoking room? Just a thing exists still? 🤫🤮🤮🤮🤮
They still have smoking room's? Didn't think that was even a thing
@@alanstjohns incredible.
I love the adelphi but it needs better upkeep. The grand lounge is beautiful
Lovely……..but staying there why just why 😂
I stayed there when I was invited to the Hillsboro charity gig ( my friend was involved)me and my daughter were so excited to be staying in Liverpool and wanted to go to a club mainly the Cavern but after dinner the first night we wasn’t allowed 😮😂, we come from London 🤷♀️but my mates hubby said it was too dangerous for us to go alone , we were right peed off !!!
Me and my grown up daughters went back for a weekend for my 50th and had a great time…the people were very friendly……..what shocked me was the fact that men held doors for us not like at home when they let the door slam in your face 😂🙄
Plus the Cavern was magical and they sang Hey Jude for me (embarrassing )
We didn’t stay at your hotel but in a Travelodge by the Mersey …..bloody lovely to go to the Beatles museum ect ect…..
True, they are old fashioned that way. I have yet to hear a man swear in front of a lady.
Thank you Macca, we will call it the big house from now on 😁
Hi James and Helen, thank you for the upload, always enjoyable 😊
I watched this episode on the VR so you were massive. Braver than me..... You both looked great.
Beautiful Liverpool
Its a shithole
Ugly Adelphi...
The two side rooms in the Phil are called Brahms and Liszt. You could assume they are named for composers or you could assume they are rhyming slang.
liverpool is always quality lovely vlog
Brilliant! Hope you come back to Liverpool guys
Spent 1 night in room 503 on a military do in Liverpool.
There was no water, the bath was backed up and you couldnt flush the toilet.
Rudely awoken by loud chanting (possibly religious) at 2am
Terrible smell emanating from behind the radiator
That was in 1998
God only knows what its like now, although it doesnt seem to have had a lick of paint
Glad to see you again guys
God bless 🙏
Stunning city, people so friendly
Lovely to see you both having a wonderful time food looks so nice and the pubs looks so fancy won’t talk about the hotel 😂 it’s nice to have a wonderful time 😊
