It's a Britannia Hotel. You know it's going to be a cross between a Victorian boarding school and a refugee camp in Somalia. Rather you than me!!
Of course its for views. It's RUclips!! Do you think I spend hours making content in the hope that nobody watches it?
@@Jut123 Its is his job, so yeah its a business, full time youtube is actually really hard work and poorly paid when you put the hours in that James does. In the words of Jamelen jut123 sithee 👋

Lol
The Grand in Scarborough STUNNINGLY beautiful. Heartbreaking that these once luxurious hotels are falling apart.
The entrance is rather grand.
Architecturally, it is gorgeous .
Fair play guys. Everyone in Liverpool knows to avoid the Adelphi like the plague - or any Britannia hotel come to that.
You can still catch it there.
Years ago I stayed at the one in Birmingham and it was a horrible place!
avoid liverpool altogether
@@MarkSmith-er7fe Please do avoid us, Mark. we don't like your kind here.
@@MarkSmith-er7fe Nah. Beautiful Architecture, Museums, Art Galleries, (2) Cathedrals, Clean air, Great night life and friendly people. So glad I moved here.
They used to have Concierge on the door when I lived in Liverpool, how times have changed!
My husband and I really love it that you love Liverpool as much as we do. We come from the south of England but we feel more at home in Liverpool. Liverpool is very welcoming and we love it that everywhere you go there's a pub buzzing and we've never seen any trouble with drunk people. If we bump into you up there one day we will definitely say hi! ❤
The architecture in Liverpool is SUPERB!
Really?...no trouble?...are you mad?
@@HunkumSpunkumactually there's not too many times I've seen trouble myself and being a Scouser I'm straightforward. I'm in my late 40s and only seen trouble 3 times in the whole of my lifetime in Liverpool. I think it depends on where you go like any other cities around the world. Hate that Liverpool gets such a bad name
@@HunkumSpunkum maybe your going the wrong parts, I'm 64 and every Friday night since I was 18 I have gone to Matthew street and all over the city centre, I've seen less than a few fisty cuffs etc, so maybe go and just enjoy your night
My grandma worked at the Adelphi 100 years ago. She came from Cork and my grandad from Croston met her in Liverpool on an Everton match day.
I remember that place being the great hotel it always was, I'm a Scouser, born and bred, 1960 Toxteth, it breaks my heart going back there now 😔
It’s a beauty, just needs someone to bring it back to its luxury status.
Yes. Wr use to always stay at the feathers mount pleasant which was very nice and great carvery breakfast.
@@cherryred1732 feathers, yes remember that, is it still there?
The hotel in it's time was high class and immaculate, now it's a wonder anyone will stay there. Brittania hotels have ruined the place. It needs another owner who appreciates the grandeur of the place to bring it back to it's previous state.
@@Willo_1647 parts of the hotel still stunning, it’s actually very beautiful
My wife just looked over at me and asked what I was watching on the PC, I told her your my favourite entertainment at the moment, I just love watching you both together you just make me chuckle without trying. You are both so naturally funny. Keep up giving us these great videos you deserve all the success in the world!.
Thank you James, we really appreciate that
liar you was watching porn
Wow the pubs decor is amazing its like stepping back in time
Great review, well done guys, greetings from Dublin.
I stayed at the Adelphi in December. It was an emergency booking made online at an hour's notice after a disaster with another accommodation I had booked and I arrived at 9.00 pm. My room was fine. It was clean and comfortable although the windows were very draughty. The breakfast was fine and it was cheap and in a great location as I was departing from Lime Street that morning. While it did not compare with the Leonardo where I had spent the previous night it was good value for money.
Stayed in the Adelphi back in 2004 - right dump - one of the staff was using the ironing board and ironing her hair with it - another planet
Haha brilliant! I had one of my first jobs as a waitress in the breakfast room in there. The customers were all quite posh men breakfasting there before going off to their offices. I don’t remember any of them leaving a tip😝. That was early 70’s, I didn’t stay there long haha.
20 years ago?things change
@@jessiegleaves9037 Or not, as the case may well be.
Can't believe you stayed there, it's such a shame Brittania own. It could be Liverpool's jewel in the crown.
Totally agree. The interiors are original and very beautiful.Perfect location, central to EVERYTHING.
It used to be the best hotel in the city.
Same happened to the Metropole in Blackpool.
@@rolandrimann8788 such a shame
@@shadowfaxofdrummersdale It used to be the only hotel in the city.
By that fact alone, it was undoubtedly the best.
Used to be a gem.the pride of Liverpool, madhouse now
We loved Liverpool
We did a national holiday trip with them in 2022
The weather when we went was amazing
Our whole visit was amazing and we want to go back again
Although we are not pub people we enjoyed the nightlife we witnessed
The city is amazing to walk around.
I was on the train to Liverpool with that bloke kicking off he was kicking off on the train as well 😂.
He must have mental problems.
Any idea what he was kicking off about?
@@someusername1 i think he was just pissed
@@alanrawlinson2489 Thanks. Quite impressively pissed by sound of it.
Love the Les Dawson impression on the piano.
I have so many unique stories about this hotel! lol The Malmaison - the business. The Hope Street, just like a glorified Holiday Innn Express.
Absolutely loved this video ,thankyou James and Helen..I must visit these places in Liverpool ,so glad you enjoyed yourselves X
Hi guys. Coming from Glasgow Liverpool is my most favourite city. Everything you said about it being safe and welcoming is spot on. Great video. All the best Ian
Glasgow is a great city too, I worked up there a few years back and would go out in town by myself. loved it. We're coming up soon.
@@bythecurb I’ll look forward to your videos😂😂👍
3:51 I love how Helen is just stood there like 🧍🏼♀️😂
Yay!! So glad Helen's back ❤
Thanks for coming to our city. A lot of people get wrong impression of Liverpool.
It’s a great place with lovely people.
One love YNWA
Agreed 👍👍
Its a Shithole ,full of self pitying left wing wokey bastards
Liverpool is beautiful 😍. ❤
Great City to visit 👍restaurant looked great 👍
Such a beautiful building, faded glory...
Zorbas, cracking restaurant. Been a few times. You know its good when the Greek arthodox priests dine there also.
How brilliant did that place look! Must check it out next trip!
I stayed there 5 or 6 years ago. I, like an idiot, left a cash bag containing around £4000 from a church collection when we left and drove on to Bangor, North Wales. I didn't discover this until next morning. I rang the hotel to find that a member of the cleaning staff had handed the bag in immediately. I couldn't be giving away church money, so when I drove straight back to collect the bag, I left the cleaner £50 out of my own pocket. Can't complain about the honesty of the staff. Not the best place to stay, and the breakfast experience was like a cattle market, awful. But some things make up for a lot in other ways.
That story does not surpriseme a single bit , had a similar experience in a North Liverpool pub many years ago 🤔🤔🤔
Its a lovely building, just needs alot of TLC
since it a Britannia hotel, i would not expect any more from it!
Grinned all the way through this one , love the warmth you both give off when together, and Helens teasing of you James 😊
My home town. I love The Adelphi, have some great memories going there and staying there over the years. Its got character. ( it does remind me of the shining too 😂) Theres a pub under it too the left that was called Fridays, an a Nightclub under it to the right that was called Saturdays, Spent many a wkend in both 😂
Fridays is called the Waves bar nowadays, cheap ale as well
Going there tomorrow to meet up with family and friends 👍👍🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
and was once The Zodiac (circa '73)
Next time you are in Liverpool check out 2 pubs PETER KAVANAGHS and THE BELVIDERE and they are both within a 5 minute walk from The Philharmonic.
Agreed............................and maybe the Blackburne Arms Pub 👍👍👍
On a serious note, never use Shower Gel or even the towels in hotels, use your own.
I heard years ago that someone loaded a shampoo bottle with hair remover!
Don't trust anyone. Use your own stuff!
Waking up with no eyebrows or hair lol...I'm going to take my own in future!
Glad you like the nights out in Liverpool. We meet loads of visitors when we go out over the weekend, and they all seem to love the place, and come back time after time. If we didnt already live here, we would love to go to somewhere as good. Loads of good old tradional pubs hidden away all over the place.
Hi James and Helen, thank you for the upload, always enjoyable 😊
Wow, i used to bunk the ferry over to Liverpool as a kid, would go into the Adelphi to play that piano, looks like its never been tuned since lol. Everyone from Merseyside knows to avoid ever staying in that place, such a shame though, as its a beautiful building.
At least you knew what to expect. It’s a Britannia😊 Hotel - enough said.
The palace hotel in Buxton seems ok
Just walked around it in 1975 on a College outing taking in the Arts.It was very Beautiful and Grand.
Back then it was a Beautiful place. I wouldn't set foot in the dump now and I am a Born and Bred Scouser 👍👍
Was there Yesterday All day in the Pubs. Saturdays are fantastic. Concert Square for the young ones. Great City.
You should try Wallasey and the north and west of Wirral at some point, James.
The hotel has a long history, Trigger the horse stayed there, as well as Charles Dickens and Winston Churchill.John Lennons Dad worked there. Free as a bird, the video was filmed in there.Such a shame, it was once a beauty, and the height of luxury.
Yeah Trigger left a whoopsie in reception....💩...it's still there...
Liverpool my home town glad you love it x
Amazing place James and Helen, you're vlogs just get better and better, absolutely off the chart guys, Thanks so much...we love Greece, and it was a great reminder for us in that lovely Restaurant.✅✅✅👍💓
Really enjoyed watching that. Years ago I lived with my then girlfriend inLiverpool for around a year. The Liverpudlians were always friendly
Another wonderful trip with Helen!! Love you guys and always hilarious! Keep up the great variety of content😘
Excellent production James, Helen show is awesome !!
Good time in Liverpool nice places for eating and great pubs 😊
Zorba’s restaurant looked fabulous! Great food, a great atmosphere and lovely staff.
I sense that Liverpool is now your new favourite destination 😂
I must just say that Helen looked particularly glamorous. I know she does the curly girl method with her hair, as I try to, and her hair looked absolutely amazing 😍
She puts a lot of effort into her hair and is always worried how it looks. Im glad I'm bald!! We really like Liverpool, there is so much to do and the people are very friendly
Thank you so much Remony. I went to a salon in Barnsley in the morning that specialise in curly hair! Met a hair dresser called Jemima. The salon is called Studio Barnsley 😁 Helen xx
really enjoy your reviews, and its great seeing a couple enjoying them self's , and making memory's , enjoy your trips!
Love it when I see others enjoying my home city ❤ love the channel 😀
We love Liverpool, always have a great time
Great city Liverpool just down the road from me😊
My dad always says that in the sixties the concierge wouldn’t let anybody walk on the path at the front unless you were staying in the hotel. I used to go to the nightclub in the basement in the mid 80s, it was called Saturdays.
Loved the art deco and palm trees
We went to Liverpool on the Beatles tour and stayed at the Adelphi it was run down but you could see it would be beautiful in it’s day i bet the staff have to put up with abuse daily so sad as usual guys your vlogs are great👍
That restaurant was lovely! What a good night out generally. Hopefully it makes up for the worst of the hotel. Liverpool is definitely on my list! 😊❤
We stayed in the rooms in your favourite pub ,that you went in first, a few years ago for our Xmas works do ! Like that area of Liverpool with all the Irish bars :)
Oh wow The Vines looks a great spot!
I live in Liverpool its a great city❤
The video from your last trip inspired us to go Liverpool (airbnb right where you parked) and we went to a great Greek restaurant called Opa Opa, it too was excellent and good value!
Brilliant! Hope you come back to Liverpool guys
Love the video restaurant looks gorgeous. Will be going there! Thank-you
Liverpool, my second favourite city after my hometown Newcastle. The Phil is my second favourite pub after the Old George in Newcastle. Liverpool is a top city with top people. I think i'll stick to staying in the Doubletree after watching that !
Liverpool London and Edinburgh for me! never been to Newcastle always wanted to go
Two amazing cities
Great Vlog love the Hype your getting good at this! Nice video well done thanks for cheering me up!
I love watching your vids/blogs! Great fun, your relaxed presenting style is so enjoyable, and after watching loads of your vids, I just thought I’d say hello, and thanks! I always prefer the ones with Helibobs in as your more relaxed and bounce off each other humour. Well done!😊
It’s such a shame that Britannia allow their terrific old building hotels to run into such disrepair .
Thanks James to you and Helen for another great and entertaining video. Don't think I would stay in The Adelphi because it does look creepy. We have been to Liverpool a number of times and it is one of our favourite cities. Would love to visit that restaurant you were in the next time we go. Keep up the great work both of you. Love to you both.❤😊
Liverpool looks such a great place to visit and the interior of those pubs was amazing. Well done for staying in that room, the pillow alone would have me running for the hills and as for the shower gel, I dont know how you did it 😮
Brilliant video loved it thanks
Great video, first time watcher and subscribed after a few minutes. Lovely couple. Looking forward to watching more.
Liverpool is a great city! Rammed with Tourists these days
💩hole
We've stayed at the Adelphi a few times, the price and location are great but the rooms are not. The worst we stopped in was a windowless basement room, that was scary.
In December we're going to try the Liner hotel for a change.
We love Liverpool, so much to do and see, the pubs are fantastic.
Liverpool always feel safe and welcoming, unlike most other cities. The Adelphi has had its problems, some small, some large. Love the video, so much that subscribed.
Brilliant video 🙏... your channel has become very successful in such a short time, congratulations to you and Helen 👍
Stayed in this place 6 years ago in a smoking room. The bathrooms were straight out of a lunatic asylum 😮
Agree, but original Victorian tiled splendor.
Smoking room? Just a thing exists still? 🤫🤮🤮🤮🤮
They still have smoking room's? Didn't think that was even a thing
Hi guys we stayed at adelphi in 2010, we left a bit of dirt on the floor to see if it would be hoovered during our stay and it wasn't 😂I was a room maid 16 yrs and I wouldn't have got away with it, loved Liverpool tho, massive beatles fan ❤
Very entertaining vid, well done. You both seem very easy going and uncomplicated and made me giggle 😁Thank you x
Just subscribed, we found you when we were on holiday to Cornwall, I like it that through all your troubles which could have sent you down a rabbit hole, you've turned it into a positive. You get out there and enjoy yourself, and as far as being bothered about how people see you, who cares it's your life you live it how you want. As for Helen what can I say she is definitely a good match for you, she's not afraid of anything, and I'm sure she's helped you out when you've been low, you make a good pair, bouncing off each other, I particularly liked the blog you did on Bolton, cause that's my home town, the market place was so good years ago, it was full of little proper shops, and then someone came along and ripped the soul out of it and made it into boutiques, anyway don't want to rant, but keep going bigger and stronger,
Lovely to see you both having a wonderful time food looks so nice and the pubs looks so fancy won’t talk about the hotel 😂 it’s nice to have a wonderful time 😊
I always watch your videos but first time commenting. How lovely was that restaurant?! So welcoming and loved that you joined in with the dancing!!
Thank you, please keep commenting :-)
Love your Liverpool vlogs! Heading to the places you’ve been to last time and this time, follow the leader 🙂
Thanks for a great video again
Hi James and Helen . I stayed there once few years ago before lockdown . Decor in rooms like something from the 70s 🤣 but location brilliant right in town . I love Liverpool 👍
Yes, the location is fantastic
Beautiful Liverpool
Its a shithole

locals would never stay there, great vid
Prithee c377, why would a " local " need to stop there ?
I always stay in Travelodges on cheap deals. Mainly because I've never checked out in the morning and said "Well, that's not at all what I was expecting".
Love watching you two, you are great on the vlogs.
