my partner's late father sailed all over the world from Liverpool on various shipping lines, from New York to the Amazon. Australia to Hong Kong. all his life at sea . he told me the only place that really got to him was the three graces in the distance on the River Mersey when he was sailing homeward that brought a lump to his throat when he saw the magnificent buildings on the pier head. he loved buildings but said you won't find many better than my home port and he had been all over the world. I worked in a discotheque in Benidorm-Spain from 1969 to 1971. My best friends were scousers, one of them became my best friend to this day. In the early 1990s, I was with my family with my comrade and his family in Liverpool and then I really fell in love with Liverpool. I have always found the people there very open, down to earth and friendly, but especially the humor is of the highest order. I've never had so much stomach ache from laughing as I did in Liverpool. I turned 39 on Monday and have lived in Liverpool my entire life. I still see details and buildings around me that I'd never seen before. So many people take it for granted.
You’re spot on, I’m 75 now but my first job, when I was 15 was in a shipping office in the Liver Buildings, and as I’d grown up with the building I took it for granted. It’s only today that I look at it and realise how privileged I was to work there. I now live in Preston but my heart will always be in Liverpool❤
The Anglican Cathedral is the 8th largest in the world. Many films and TV series are made here, especially around the Georgian Quarter. It's a shame that many visitors miss seeing Speke Hall, it is a large Tudor Mansion in large grounds, close to John Lennon Airport. Down at the pierhead the building you said was beautiful is the Cunard Building, the building you said looked like from Amsterdam is The White Star Line the owners of the Titanic, the architect built a replica in London that was Scotland Yard.
Hope Street, between the 2 cathedrals is full of places to eat. It would have been 5 min walk. Ye Olde Cracke was about 5 min walk too, where the Beatles met during college. Also the PHilharmonic pub with the marble gents toilets a 5 min walk and does food. Lots of places to eat near China town too, another 5 min walk. Love the Bridewell.
There's a Bridewell police cells under Leeds Town Hall. You couldn't see town hall when you did a visit due to renovations. When you visited Lawnswood cemetry, that white feather was from a guardian angel.Liverpool is a great city and has changed so much but the people remain warm and friendly 😊

When you showed the Bridewell pub, it took me way back to 1977 and early 80s era as they were rehearsal rooms for bands. You walked past the room ( cell ) that frankie ( later known as Frankie goes to Hollywood rehearsed in and lessor known names such as Twisted Nervez and the accelerators. Great times and some great stories from that place
@@eightiesmusic1984 I bet that was fantastic, I played a gig at his ( Nash ) school and he asked me how do you get into bands . Then awhile later I met him again and he was playing for frankie . @@jamesroberts5351 I was only talking about Lewis's the other day, with a colleague in Leeds. I didn't know that there were other stores.
Lewis's for me is all about the Christmas Grottos they used to have.
But George Henry Lee had the better premises in my opinion. That huge stair case.
Ah, the memories 👍
Come back in the Summer, Get the Ferry, and check out Sefton Park and Lark lane in South Liverpool. also get the Underground Train to New Brighton and go on the Beach
Don’t knock Liverpool till you’ve tried it I always say. It’s a bloody amazing place for everyone!
I am from Liverpool, but live in Manchester, but I'm back most weekends see family and friends, I love the city , it's so welcoming, friendly , great night out ! Amazing history, best football club in the world LFC . I'm so glad you guys both fell in love with the city ! ❤️
Probably my two favourite Cities in the UK. Do like Edinburgh and Durham a lot too. Liverpool fan though so we know which is top ;-)
Ive been all around the world and visited many many amazing cities but liverpool is the best.
Been there a few times, always busy n a great place to meet.
Liverpool, World in one City, All welcome anytime.
Agree a great city ! I will be back again in July cant wait.

It's a city that thinks it's a village. Good people and a beautiful heart. So glad you enjoyed it
'It's a city that thinks it's a village' .... what a perfect description. I'll remember and use that .. if that's ok. 😉
So glad you found time for a Cathedral visit. Both Cathedrals are stunning. I sing in one of the choirs there, and I never tire of it. Every time I go it feels so special.
Good for you, you must have a great voice 🙂
@@bythecurbthe Anglican cathedral is the biggest in Britain and fifth largest in Europe

I'm originally from Liverpool. I moved nearly 40 years ago, but regularly visited until 10 years ago.. My favourite pubs are The Swan in Wood Street, the Roscoe Head in Roscoe Street, Ye Crack (older than the Hole in the Wall,) and the Edinburgh in Wavertree.
Loved Roscoes, n Oconnors - tavern over the road from it.

Stumbled across this RUclips channel & what a find. James & Helen seem like lovely people, with a cheeky sense of humour. Delighted you had such a nice time in Liverpool.
Thank you, glad you found the channel :-)
Great to see you both enjoying our city, fantastic vlog, you crammed a lot in for 2 days well done 👏👏👏
We did. Had an amazing time :-)
How can you walk past the Liverpool Brewing Company near The Vines? Best beers in Liverpool. You missed out on their imperial stout guys.
Welcome to my home town. Hope you enjoyed every minute of it and the friendly people. Just found your channel. I’ve just bought an all electric Campervan to take the family all over the gaff.
I've always enjoyed the times i've been to liverpool and your spot on you do need a few days there to get more of an experience, spot on with the vlog as well i've met some wonderful people and characters whenever i've been can't beat it look after yourselves.
Me and my other half been to Liverpool so many times. We left a padlock too in 2020 for my 40th before covid. Such a special place for both of us our fav place xxx
Such a beautiful city thankyou for sharing 😊
Make sure you visit Bold Street. 😊. Top to bottom full of restaurants, load of independents.
Liverpool looks great..lots to see and do. A must visit location..well done you guys👍
Thanks Geoff
Brilliant, that's whet our appetite for a long overdue return to Liverpool.
I really want to go again as I was only there a few hours on my way to the Wirral and never got to see all the amazing places.
Liverpool is the greatest city in Britain,,,great video folks👍👍👍👍👍
Loved watching your time in Liverpool. We go once a year around December, catch the train to Lime street station then walk across the road to stay at the Adelphi for 2 nights, the rooms are rough n ready but cheap and includes breakfast.
There's so much to do in Liverpool and the night life is great, we've found the best time to go is midweek as the weekend is too busy if you like to go down Mathew street.
To right about the Adelphi, rough n ready but definitely 'do-able' n right in the middle of everything !
Awesome blog. The 3 buildings along the waterfront, the Liver building, the Mersey Docks and Harbour board building and the Cunard building are known locally as the 3 Grace’s
The red brick building that you said looked Bavarian, is the White Star Line building. The company that owned the ill fated Titanic. Please come back soon 👍
Wow, that's interesting. Thanks for the info
Next time you come you’ll have to try a bowl of Scouse in Maggie May’s Cafe in Bold Street 👍
Just what I was going to say.
@@bythecurb The red brick building also known as the streaky bacon building
Rather embarrassingly, you’ve got the names of the Three Graces wrong: the Royal Liver Building, The Cunard Building and the Port of Liverpool Building. Go and stand in the corner for the rest of the lesson. I shall be speaking to your parents about this.
Brilliant stuff. A bit of culture for a change 😂 I’m always one for going to museums, art galleries and cathedrals. I’ve always fancied Liverpool but I’ve never been. There’s certainly lots to see and the pubs are very quirky and atmospheric. You should have gone to Cosmo though - it’s an all you can eat buffet 😋😋
Glad you ejoyed our beautiful city and you would be welcomed back anytime, great video again 😊
Am glad you loved the city we love it here ❤❤
When you showed the Bridewell pub, it took me way back to 1977 and early 80s era as they were rehearsal rooms for bands. You walked past the room ( cell ) that frankie ( later known as Frankie goes to Hollywood rehearsed in and lessor known names such as Twisted Nervez and the accelerators. Great times and some great stories from that place
@@eightiesmusic1984 great news about the Plaque and wow Charles dickens.
@@eightiesmusic1984 I bet that was fantastic, I played a gig at his ( Nash ) school and he asked me how do you get into bands . Then awhile later I met him again and he was playing for frankie . Then boom he went global . Thing I liked about Nash was that the is very grounded and rather than talk about frankie he wanted too know how my band was doing . Great guy
