- I thought I played most of the weird Morrowind mods out there but nope... Morrowind4Kids is an attempt to make Morrowind more kid friendly with it's own original storyline, world and characters.

Alice in Wonderland is public domain as it was published more than 150 years ago.
In fact it looks like ALL the books in the game are at least a 100 years old and pre-date current copyright laws so you can go ahead and make a series that's just you reading Treasure Island in it´s entirety without any fear of copyright strikes.

Haha oh boy. I'm the one who requested this, thanks for checking it out! This mod used to have its own website where the creator talked about his motivation for making it. He complained about the tone of Morrowind and its "bleak pessimism". I have no idea what he meant or why his solution was to do this bonkers mod. Too bad it was never finished because it clearly had a lot of effort put into it.

I played this back in the day. The name always confused me, but it was so high effort and charming. It felt more like just creating a weird fantasy world than making morrowind 'kid friendly'. Besides the idea of a parent buying morrowind, to then download a mod to make it appropriate is ridiculous.
Also I'm pretty sure it was never finished, so that's why you are not getting any quests or anything. You can find some weird stuff in the mod however. I remember there's like a toy store somewhere.

I think you guy's are approaching it from the wrong era and angle, when you factor in the oblivion christian mod was made using a copy of oblivion dug out of the trash. The target audience was probably parents who didn't have much in the way of disposable income and already owned morrowind for themselves but also wanted to provide their children with some entertainment. This is an outdated concept now with free apps and games literally piling up in landfills, but a decade ago not such as foreign idea.
I love how the dogs keep doing the "Night at the Roxbury" headbob. I was almost expecting a zoom in and for "What is love" to start playing at any second.

Fun fact! The moogle characters in this mod come from an older mod made by Ian McConville, the artist for Slime Rancher and the old webcomic Mac Hall.
6:16 thats an early character model from the Mog Mod, a Morrowind mod that let you play as a Moogle character. It was pretty fun, the main advantages being you have constant effect Jump and Slow Fall, and some night vision.
The weirdest mod I've ever used for Morrowind was a "Little Red Riding Hood" mod. It included some red clothing models and a weird soundtract with wolf howling and a wolf longing for the Little Red Riding Hood.
Okay, the land disappearing as you approach is surely unintended, but kind of an amazing concept for a game.
It's because the distant LOD files he has enabled are from the vanilla game, not the mod. So once he gets closer to the land, it's not in sync with the distant land files. It's more obvious (and always less trippy looking) in Oblivion and Skyrim.
Well, now I'm scared, because someone is going to find an even weirder mod for our Basement King.

Both Treasure Island & Alice in Wonderland are in the public domain, I imagine that's why the mod author used those books.

You know, it feels more appropriate at this point to label these videos as "Morrowind's Weirdest Mod Yet". I don't think that this particular rabbit's hole has any end to it.
Also, the forest area gives off the same energy as the Siegmunds starting the old point'n'click Ring, the Legend of the Nibelungen.

someone put so much effort into this! even if all the textures are rips and models are lazily thrown in there, it must have taken so long to make. I'm not sure if it SHOULD have been made, but it must have been some real work lol.

The land melting away is because you have distant lands still active for the vanilla version of the game and not the modded version

I'm pretty sure there was a horror mod for Morrowind, it started in Suran (I think), and all the comments were about how scary it was.....pretty sure this is much more terrifying....

I love the idea that the Dunmer hate this place so much they invented guns to deal with the freaks on freak island. Contagious zombies and tentacle face monsters coming from red mountain? Just put up a fence to deal with it. THIS? They cannot be suffered to live.

I remember playing this like a decade ago! The starting sequence is completely different now. I remember just appearing in a forest and there were pink or purple guars, and they didn’t attack unless you did. I got really bored though so I never played more than like a half an hour

This is just the actual Sheogorath's plane. Shivering isles was just a little something on the side to put mortals in instead so they have at least a chance of not instantly going insane
The Seventeenth Sermon of Vivec talks about the edge of the world being spiked waters. I always figured that was a meta reference to Morrowind's janky loading.
preussischblau gave a good explanation, but allow me to try my best as a (very) novice game designer/ very novice TES modder to explain the melting land in a more technical way:
What you are seeing is the LOD - which I don't remember if that stands for Long Object Detail or Low Object Detail because everyone just calls it LOD. No matter which name is right or wrong, they both give a pretty good idea of what is happening. Rather than the game loading game assets in full detail that are far away, it loads a low resolution version because there is no reason to load a bunch of detail if the object is so small in the distance that the extra detail can't be made out. Typically, 3D models may have multiple versions for varying distances, such as a super long distance version, long distance, medium distance, and close, and the game engine will attempt to blend between each as you approach the object. The engine blending between LOD and near objects is what is causing the ground to sink. Not all games blend terrain LOD in this way, however it seems Morrowind attempts to seamlessly blend the LOD terrain with the current rendered cell (the near terrain) by sinking the LOD terrain at the border of the cell.

I think you're seeing the world melting because the mod deletes that entire landmass, but for some reason leaves the LODs intact, so you can see land from distance, but it disappears when you get closer. Though that's just a guess, I've never actually seen this happen before and I screwed around with Morrowind mods for years.

This looks like Adventure Quest and Morrowind had a beautiful Child together. Literally this is what I always wanted Morrowind to be like as kid playing! But it looks very trippy. Too much Skooma! 1:45 i'd assume you use MGE to extend the draw distance for your game right?
I'd assume this is happening because the vanilla terrain was replaced/disabled by the mod, however the the distant land generator still has distant LOD textures set to draw in at those coordinates. Ergo, you can see them far away, but they disappear as they draw into the vanilla draw distance
