And why are you talking about someone with more assists than goals? Thats not the case with messi at all, he has like 10 less goals than ronaldo and about 100 less games, ronaldos had 100 more games than messi, over 9000 minutes to score goals and assist people and he only has 10 more goals and less assists. You cant compare both of them on who's better, messi is a playmaker and ronaldo is a striker. Its more of a question who had the better impact on the team, who could be utilized more etc. In my opnion I believe ronaldo is the goat but i wont disagree that messi is also. ronaldo is currently 36, hes old and he is now a poacher. Messi still has a tiny bit of light in him, its kinda declining now but i think he will come back. Ronaldo provides a better impact for the team, whatever team he goes to he is always the main man- and it is because of his perfomance. He is outperfoming 20-30 year olds at a retirement age. I cant say the same to messi because hes only played for 2 clubs, and currently, he is not perfoming good in psg. He makes chances in psg, but there are people in the team like mbappe who are outperfoming messi right now. Im not going to compare their career because that would only cause a big argument but currently ronaldo is way better. Ronaldo is probably a top 5-7 player currently, but im not sure about messi. Ronaldo has been constantly helping his team win games ( although de gea is probably the person who is carrying the team), messi has just been a player- nothing special ( i would say mbappe is the main man). you would have to be absurd to think messi is outperfoming ronaldo now. Because Ronaldo wasn’t a goal scorer in Portugal nor his first two seasons at United (all in his teen years). It’s not that hard to figure out lol. Those are his legitimately his only “dry runs”. Messi has performed extremely well at a club that he was at for about 20 years.
Ronaldo has gone from club to club, league to league and been an amazing goalscoring talent.
Both are absolutely phenomenal but I think Messi is a little bit more well rounded

Messi is the superior footballer in terms of pure ability on and off the ball. Ronaldo is the superior athlete, perhaps the greatest athlete we have ever seen. In total, I think it is pointless to compare them because the stats are so similar, but of course, Messi has two less years on his belt. Ronaldo doing it in several leagues is a testament to his sheer will to compete and achieve things, while Messi has had that "loyal" approach up until now, although he is not disloyal as he actually was forced out of Barca. It is incredibly difficult. I love Ronaldo more because he played for and now has come back to my favorite club, but I can´t bring myself to say that he is a better footballer than Messi. Better athlete? By a long way.

@@LouvreGlassFrance Track and field athletes spend 95% of their career training and 5% actually competing, which doesn´t exactly make for great viewability. Take sprinters like Usain Bolt and Justin Gatlin since you mentioned them, you can´t watch them compete every week, rather once or twice a year. Insane athletes? Yes. But nowhere near the levels of players who do it two or three times a week for hours such as in football which also requires a massive variety of skillsets compared to track and field athletes.

Messi fans can say key things like more goals per game, more assists, better playmaker, better dribbler, more chance creation, etc. While Ronaldo fans will say stuff like more goals (arbitrarily), more teams, weak foot ability, more header ability, better athlete, plays internationally in Europe, more bicycle kicks, better looking, dumb little stuff like that.

Both Arguments are stupid. Ronaldo and Messi both have 600+ goals and 200+ assists. You don't have those stats if you're aren't complete in nearly every category of football, they're both technically brilliant, two of the best dribblers, some of the best passers, and both are easily the two best goal scorers period. I don't trust peoples footballing opinion when they say either Ronaldo or Messi are levels above each other, or try to limit them by saying Ronaldo can't do this, or Messi doesn't do this etc. You can't separate them, the things they've done for football won't be matched, they've set the standard, you can prefer one of them over the other, but i genuinely don't think ones better than the other, they've achieved too much to not be level.
