@@tashrif46 true Kahn had a worse team than Neuer did, in fact, he never played in a team that was as good as Neuer's german or Bayern team are. But the reason why goalkeepers do the whole running bit is because it allows more tactical wise, but it also makes you concede less goals because you can intercept balls before the striker can get to it and go for a 1v1. So it's slightly unfair for Kahn, but that makes Neuer better. But I mean when Neuer started he didn't do it either because he invented it, so Kahn could've done so as well. Either way Neuer is the better keeper, even on the line IMO

So I can take the word of people who watched him, like SAF and Bobby Charlton, and think he was a very good player but I don’t think it’s right to put him in my team

The pele disrespect reeks of ignorance. He was widely regarded as the best player in the 60s and you can see why by just watching his games. His goal record is bs but it shouldnt be disregarded completely as the brazilian league was one of the best leagues in the world at the time. Pele also performed against european opposition in intercontinental club competitions and the world cup. The goat should be decided between the best player from each era, and thats why the debate should include pele too. He should certainly have a spot at the all time xi.

There are so many phenomenal players to choose from that choosing an 11 individually for me is almost impossible. Therefore, I took a mixture of insane talent and what players would perform best as a team. Having wingers is important in football, so i dont think my choices of Messi or CR7 can be argued as they are the best of players who have played on the wing, Xavi and Iniesta as a duo in midfield are unplayable, R9 is the most complete striker of all time, and Maldini and Baresi as a CB partnership irl I think is the best. I think most ppl would agree with my fullback choices, so the only position that can be argued for me is CAM(Maradonna, Pele, Cruyff, Zidane, Ronaldinho, Kaka etc) and GK(Neuer, Buffon, Casillas, Yashin, Kahn etc). And if you wanna play a CDM instead of CAM, I'd choose Busquets(best in combo with Xavi and Iniesta although individually could be argued Matthaus, Vieira, Rijkaard etc are better). You could also have a CDM and CAM if you want by playing both Maradonna as a false 9 and Busquets at CDM and drop R9

Obviously we can’t put players that we never saw play but you can always hear about them from the older generation. Football has evolved way more, everything from the rules to the style of play to fitness and technology. Those players were legendary for that time period but quality of teams and players now is undeniably better.

Someone could dive in 2 footed and be given an applause for a great tackle, someone does that now and there instantly set off and called an idiot who lost there head. Neither player is tougher than the other in this scenario.
