So, this is going to sound odd, but I need you to just run with me for a moment. To get every last possible bit of the sriracha (or any other sauce/condiment) twist the top closed, place it tip down in a narrow plastic bag, like a bread bag. Now grab the open end of the bad and spin it around like a lasso, the force of the spin will push all the sauce to the tip. Cause you definitely could have gotten more out of that bottle.
🤯 I'm..... I'm so impressed by this tip! I can't wait to try this. I just add a little bit of water and use the watered down Sriracha in a pot of beans or in a spicy mayo.
@@springshine6465 I always do the water thing too. When making marinara sauce I use water to get every bit of plain tomato sauce out of the can. Hey, I enjoy watching you feed your large family in a healthy way. I don't have kids yet, but I try to feed myself and my husband in a budget friendly way (overseas in Europe) and I would like to give you this recipe and see if it would be as budget-friendly in the US, as it is here. So the recipe is called "Sirene po Shopski" (Cheese Shopski style), it is Bulgarian (where I am from) and in my opinion, it is really good. May sound a bit like shakshouka, but the difference is the raw tomatoes. So there it is (I give the proportions per person, cause obviously I cook for two and you - for six). Per one person: 2 raw tomatoes or one big one, sliced in large flat pieces 100 grams of white brine cheese (Bulgarian traditional white cheese or Feta cheese or any white brine cheese) cut in large flat pieces 10 g butter 2 eggs 1 chili pepper (optional) For this recipe, you need a lidded baking tray (or Jena glass tray, just anything that has a lid that can hold heat). So you slice the tomatoes and cheese in flat chunks. You arrange one row of tomatoes in the baking tray, put some butter on top, then arrange the cheese, another row of tomatoes and the remaining butter. You can add salt if you like, but I don't cause Bulgarian white cheese is already very salty. If you use feta or any other white brine cheese that is not salty, add salt to taste. You put the chili pepper whole on top. You bake that in the lidded tray for 20 minutes in preheated 200 degrees Celsius oven. After 20 minutes are up, you remove the lid and crack in the eggs. You can either leave the yolks whole or puncture them. Bake for 5-10 minutes without a lid (depending on how raw you like the egg yolks). Then the dish is ready to serve! It goes great with toast, plane tortilla (baked) or just any bread. I find it ideal for the summer cause the tomatoes taste better, but it is also very nice for a winter evening where you are just lazy to cook something complicated. I find the toast goes great when it is drizzled with some olive oil, oregano and salt on top and then baked (I put it in in the hot oven for 2-5 minutes after I take the dish out). I promise, the recipe may look plain, but it is really delicious. Hope you cook it someday and like it.
Ever since I came across your videos by accident a bit over a week ago I now watch your videos a couple times a week. Again, I’m just a college student with no kids and still living at home so I don’t need to be “frugal,” but these videos are still great. They’re so nice and simple that even if I find myself too busy with work or school it’s nice to know I can still make something. Thanks!
How I made egg roll filling, and would make egg roll in a bowl for your double portion would be to fry the meat off, set aside. Then I would add a chopped large yellow onion, a couple of minced cloves of garlic, grated (not microplaned) ginger, and grate a couple of stalks of celery, and cook in the beef fat until soft. Then I would add the same amount of cabbage as you did, and then two or three big carrots, grated, and then once those have softened, I would had a smiley face spoon-full of peanut butter. Yep, peanut butter. Stir well to dissolve the peanut butter and then add soy sauce or tamari, sriracha or sambal olek, and salt if needed. I don't use sesame oil, but you could add it if you wanted, and after tasting. I went to high school with the children of the family that ran my home town's Chinese resturant. They had the BEST egg rolls, and so I asked them once why their egg rolls were so good and they told me the ingredients, which is what I posted above, and that they spread a bit of peanut butter on the egg roll wrappers before filling them. That was the secret!
For our eggroll bowls, I just remember to balance flavors. Asian recipes usually have a balance of salty, sweet, sour, heat. So for me, that's often soy, brown sugar, a little vinegar, and sambal or sriracha. I also add shredded carrots and diced onion for a bit of natural sweetness and complexity. Ground pork instead of beef is also good!
I stumbled onto your page a few days ago and love what I've seen! You cook a lot like I cook (but I'm just one person!). One thing I do is if my local grocery has discounted vegetables I will buy whatever the have and then prep them for later use. Things like leafy greens I tend to use quickly because they don't store well. But if I've scored a bag of carrots for $1.10 I will grate them on my cheese grater and then freeze flat. That way I can break off a piece and add it to whatever I'm cooking when I might *not* have carrots readily available! I know this won't work for everyone but it has saved me a lot!
The Little House On The Prairie Cookbook is a terrific resource for cooking on a budget. Here's a tip -- the vinegar pie recipe is good as is, but try using white instead of brown sugar, double the number of eggs, just using the yolks in the pie base and use the whites with a bit of sugar and cream of tartar to make a meringue. Tastes like lemon meringue pie! I won a ribbon at the county fair in the "other" pie category.
I'm with you on the egg rolls bowls, they're generally bland! I found if you add Chinese mustard and Duck sauce to the bowl once served like you would an egg roll, they're amazing!
I appreciate so much that you show how your family eats your meals. You can search any YTer’s “budget friendly meals”but never how the family eats it. I reckon a lot of it is a waste of food (except for your channel!). So I really appreciate you showing the real life. I like it as you stand out in that way from other channels.
Hello Try this recipe for a pressure or a crockpot 2 pounds of Ribs 5 Potatoes 2 onions 1 lemon green leaves and chives and cilantro 2 TABLETS of Seasoned Ribs or Beef Garlic and Salt 1 can Tomato Sauce Cook the ribs first for 20 min with ali the ingredients On the slow cooker for 5 hours After taste the meet for salt and pepper And you can put cabbage too With rice as a side dish So good!!!
The reason your roast was falling apart while cutting it was because you were using a serrated knife. For softened meats use a smooth blade to avoid tearing it so much!
Seems to me that the egg roll in a bowl needs a little acid-- I'd thrown in a dash of rice wine vinegar (or even white vinegar if that's what you had) in there.
Keary McHugh I make egg roll in a bowl a lot usually Needs more soy and sesame lol and I do add a little rice wine vinegar if you don’t put enough sesame it’s bland
Saute cabbage first and season with salt and pepper garlic and onion powder dried thyme and oregano. Set aside Do the same with the meat then add some color too bland
I make mine with ground pork and finely minced shrimp, cabbage, green onion with soy, sesame oil, garlic and finely minced ginger. I cut the egg roll wrappers in strips and fry them til they’re crisp, serve over rice with the wrapper strips as a garnish. Edit: oh yeah and don’t forget white pepper.
I always throw a splash of rice wine vinegar in my egg roll in a bowl. I like a mix of tangy, salty, sweet :) and also I use a Coleslaw mix with carrots
'My feet are tired but my soul is wide awake' I LOVE THIS SHIRT!! Your meal ideas inspire me! I used to love cooking and since I've had my twins last year, it's taking the life out of me. We never eat beans in our family but I might try one of your meals with beans and see how they go! I love the way your husband commended your meal, mine does the same thing!
I felt the same way about the egg roll in a bowl recipe I made a few months back. So I modified it. It has Asian flavors but also has stuff not found in an egg roll. Here is my recipe: 1 lb ground beef, 1 pkg tri color slaw mix, 1 can petite diced tomatoes, 3 finely sliced green onions, 2 finely minced cloves of garlic, 1 1/2 t of finely minced ginger, 1 1/2 t cumin, 1/2 t black pepper, 3 T apple cider vinegar, 1T sriracha, 1 t sesame oil, and 1/4 c soy sauce.
I have bought & used imitation crab meat then froze left over meat for later use and stock up when I find it on sale. A little can go a long way in a recipe and the meat absorbs whatever flavors you pack it into. Also, more garlic; a LOT MORE. Kill the garlic salt or powder variety and use either fresh OR pre-minced in a jar (only way to go) and it will last IF you measure using a spoon instead of eyeing it. In fact all ingredients will stretch further if you measure them.
I dont really have a recipe but this is what I usually put in mine when I make it. Ground beef Cabbage Carrots Celery Onion Mushrooms Minced Garlic Sesame oil Olive oil Soy sauce Coconut aminos(this gives you the sweet flavor. Either that or I add some monk fruit sweetener to make it lower carb. Brown meat then drain that and set aside. Saute all the veggies and minced garlic in the sesame oil and olive oil except the cabbage until slightly tender and then add the cabbage to your pan. I use salt and garlic salt to season to taste. Once the cabbage starts to cook down a bit, add the ground beef to the pan and add liberal amounts of both the soy sauce and the coconut aminos. Keep tasting as you go and add more of the sauces if needed. I like to put a good amount extra so that I have some extra juice to put over my cauliflower rice or regular rice for my husband and kids. Hope this helps!
Egg roll in a bowl... I season each layer as I add ingredients. Cook onions and garlic powder in sesame oil then add meat. Add cabbage then ginger.... and all the other stuff and rice wine vinegar ... salt to taste
So because of the inspiration from your videos, tonight I didn't know what were going to make, tonight but we had a frozen sausage round in the freezer. I looked through my pantry and fridge leftovers and made a rice and sausage dish, with fried onions, shredded carrots, shredded ice berg and the last of a jar of sauerkraut that would never have gotten used otherwise. Cooked the rice in leftover chicken broth, curry powder, chopped cilantro and chili flakes. It was a huge hit and cleaned out the fridge!
I make egg roll in a bowl and it has: a bag of coleslaw mix, a pound of ground pork, 1/2 cup of low sodium soy sauce, 1-2 tbsp of minced garlic and green onions. Brown the meat and add the rest. Cover and cook on medium, until coleslaw is done. Yum!
Hello Christine! I have been on your channel before but with the recent upset round the world I was all over your channel yesterday to find recipes to stretch my money further whilst still having a delicious meal. I am not one to comment frequently but I just HAD TO come on here today, as we tried your Tortilla Chicken Soup recipe, to let you know that it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! I cannot believe the simple ingredients that are in it but it is soooo flavorful! Definitely a new favorite! Keep up the great posts.
Helpful/frugal tip: if you need to get all the sriracha (or whatever) out you can add a tiny bit of water to the container and shake it up. The water will cook off and you get all the spicy goodness out of the bottle.
i make egg roll in a bowl all the time and just recently started adding the great value brand won ton strips as a topping when it’s done. it is soooo good! it adds a little crunch like a real egg roll. i also stir in a little sweet thai chili sauce at the end. so yummy!
I've made egg roll in a bowl before and it turned out delicious. You are missing fresh garlic and fish sauce. They make or break the dish I think. I also add eggs to mine. The recipe only says 1 teaspoon of garlic but I dont think that's enough...
Christine I haven’t purchased water bottles in almost a month and I’ve been using my brita pitcher. I’ve saved so much!! I also now use reusable ziplock bags!! You encourage me to save save save!!
We love to make egg roll in a bowl with ground pork, rice wine vinegar, few different cabbages, shredded carrots, onions, LOTS of garlic, salt, pep, soy sauce. I don't serve it over rice and eat it as a one pot meal. Top with chives, green onion or scallions and some toasted sesame seeds.
the recipe that I have used forever for my eggrolls is a little different! I use pork sausage, onions, cabbage, carrots, soy sauce I just brown my sausage and onions together, add a little bit of flour to thicken, just a tablespoon or so! add the cabbage, shredded carrots, and soy sauce and let simmer for a little bit. I always put my meat mixture in a colander because for some reason it gets soupy and you don't want soupy meat going into a eggroll wrapper! sometimes I add more soy, and sometimes I do add a little sugar it helps bring the salt out. then assemble! easy peasy! enjoyed the video! xoxo
You could do bulgoi ground beef. It's pretty simple to make. Soy sauce 1/4 cup, 2 tablespoon brown sugar, minced garlic and ginger, some toasted sesame seeds. Add in after you drain beef. I also use gochujang instead of Sriracha. It has less salt and you can use less of it to make it spicy. Gochujang contains rice for those who don't know (gluten). Bulgoi normally requires an Asian pear. But I leave it out, I've found the brown sugar makes it sweet enough.
I’ve only tried one egg roll in a bowl recipe, but I love it. It’s the Asian skillet slaw from Worth Cooking. Similar to the one you tried, but way more veggies, Chinese five spice, lime, red pepper flakes, etc. to boost the flavor.
My sister in laws husband is Mexican and they use corn tortillas fried as in tostadas we have this for birthday parties you can also spray the tortillas with cooking spray and bake them instead of frying. Also the soup i have had made with hominy also a pork version called pisolè. Also for both you can have thinly sliced cabbage, radishes, jalapenos or lettuce. They are cheap and really good go withs.
Sure wish we could eat gluten and dairy 😭😭😭 it’s soooo yummy and cheaper! These are great! You’re such a gem putting these out. For roasts like that- we also like to add potatoes. My kids eat a TON!!!!! So they need more carbs. And we just throw them in the crock too.
Pizza night has always been a favourite for my family. We used to order in, then money became tight so we started making homemade with premade crusts, and now we make our own crust or use soon to be turned into breadcrumbs buns or bread. They are so easy and always a hit!
Adding a couple bay leaves to your roast really compliments the flavor. (Obviously you have to keep track of how many you put in to fish out before eating lol(
I was doing the french bread pizza you suggested, then there was all of this cutting involved which I realized me and my husband took turns doing because of how much we hated cutting the french bread. So I found a solution. Walmart has pre sliced french bread for $1 and there are a ton of slices(it's thinly sliced) then i lay those all out on a pizza pan and put the pizza things on the slices, the kids can help too, then put in the oven at 400 for like 16min and then there is no slicing afterward either, so great. We did do bagel pizzas for awhile, but bagels cost more, you still had to separate them and they were a lot thicker and there was a hole in the middle of them, ha ha. thanks for all of the fun videos. I feel less like a crazy person when it comes to food now. Food is an area I think most people way overspend on, and then their budget is not as efficient as it could be.
I do meat fried in sesame oil, onion, garlic, ginger, carrot & cabbage. Soy sauce, more sesame oil, splash or two of rice vinegar and chili pepper flakes. Some spice. Serve with rice.
To get all the extra yummy goodness out of the sriracha bottle when it gets low like that, add some hot water, replace the lid and shake really well then add to your recipe.
Using Ground breakfast sausage is cheaper than hamburger & tastes great in the egg roll mix. Use cooked ground sausage, diced cabbage ( half cook & half uncooked to give it more crunch, ginger & garlic & soy sauce. You can roll that mix up into eggroll wrappers , spray them with oil & bake them in the oven for 8-10 minutes at 385 degrees.
There is a Turkish recipe with same products mince beef cabbage tomato sauce, bay leaf (optional), salt and pepper, paprika. It is really nice and I do it quite often. You can make quite a beige batch and serve with rice or beans.
You can make cabbage patties Sprinkle the cabbage with salt and let it sit - like you would do with cucumbers when making tzatziki - so the water drains from the cabbage. I usually leave it for 30 to 60 min. Then rinse of the salt and squease the the cabbage to get most of the water of it. Mix in a bowl with eggs, breadcrumbs, salt and pepper. I don't have the exact measurements but it has to be wetter than if you were making regular patties because the breadcrumbs will suck up a lot of moisture. Then just fry them in a pan.
You should keep those beef roast bones and use them with the celery onion and carrots to make your own stock. It stores wonderfully in a mason jar and then you don’t have to every buy salted bouillon ever again. And, avocados don’t have to be brown or black to use them; they just have to feel soft =)
I made the chicken tortilla soup with a few modifications (couldn't find a small bottle of cumin at the 2 stores I checked) so I made it work with additional taco seasoning...added the cheese and avocado and a squeeze of lime at the very end...THE BEST chicken tortilla soup I have ever had. Even my son gave it his approval (even though he picked all the chicken out first). All I know is it was very easy, I had most of the ingredients on hand already, and I am absolutely stuffed.
On the egg roll in a bowl, I haven’t ever made a recipe like that, but my best trick for fixing a bland dish is to add acid. If you feel like you’ve added enough salt, but it still tastes flat, try adding some apple cider vinegar, lemon or lime juice, or for Asian dishes, I like rice wine vinegar. Doesn’t take much. I start with a cap full for recipes for my family of four.
Similar to your "bad" bowl is unstuffed cabbage roll casserole made with ground beef, cabbage, garlic, onions, and tomato sauce. Mix all together, season to taste. Put in a casserole covered with lid or foil and bake @ 350 until heated through and cabbage soft. This freezes and reheats well also.
Egg roll in a bowl, or crack slaw. More ginger, soy and fresh garlic, I also add red bell peppers. Really yummy if you add enough spice and flavorings. My first try at it, I had the same results as you. But you can flavor it up some more. Cooking Keto with Christy has a good recipe for it
Coffee with Christine in the morning! Ok you are no longer drinking coffee, but that is how I have to start the day! Now you are also a necessity! God bless!
If you keep the bone, it makes a wonderful broth for a base to make soup. My grandma always made home made chicken with bones from roasts and it was amazing.
I just came across your video, these were good family meal ideas. Another suggestion for the beans after they've cooked, serve them in a soup bowl with it's broth, chopped cilantro, onion, & chopped tomatoes ( pico de Gallo) or chunky salsa and it's really good as a side soup.
I definitely add Hoisin sauce or sugar substitute, Chinese black vinegar, fish sauce and onions to my egg roll in a bowl. Many of the egg roll in a bowl recipes have been changed for dietary reasons.
For the salt add more soy and try Hoisin not BBQ sauce. Also, I use the P.F. Chang Lettuce Wrap recipe which can be used for either egg rolls or I use mostly for rice rolls...so DELICIOUS!
You should make actual southern style pinto beans! If your husband likes creamy beans you can’t beat a bowl of beans! Use 1/2 onion, a ham hock or just a left over ham bone or seared bacon or store bought ham base powder, 1lb of dry beans soaked overnight then rinsed, and about 1 quart of water in a pot bring to a boil then cover and simmer for 6-8hours. My great grandmother always took about a cup of beans out and smashed them with a fork then added back to the soup to make it very creamy. She also would throw a half stick of butter in about an hour before they were done. She always served this with corn bread and home made canned hot peppers which are similar to sliced pickled peppers. It’s the one meal I miss the most 🥰
Good egg roll in a bowl is SO good. I use the recipe from 40 aprons. It's technically whole 30 compliant, but we use this recipe all the time. Even my picky teenage daughter loves it.
I just found u today and I'm bench watching ur videos... Tip to get ur avocados ripe faster grab a piece of newspaper and rolled then up and put them by ur stove or the hottest place in ur kitchen and they will get ripe with in a day or two just don't for get then cux they will go over ripped For ur tacos u can substitute for corn tortillas and fry them and top them with refried beans , lettuce, and tomatoes slices ,sour cream and greated cheese and there are called taco dorado's / flautas (hard tacos rolled up or takitos ) and u have a taco Tuesday.. or if u have left over chicken chop some tomatoes and onions sauteed them all together and add a pinch of cummin and you have tinga roolled them up put a toothpick so they don't unrolled when frying . Then add the same toppings on top.
I know I’m a year late, LOL, but I had the same issue with egg roll in a bowl. I ended up using Hot Jimmy Dean ground sausage because it had more flavor.. add in the cabbage, soy sauce, ginger, and I season it all with garlic powder, onion powder, salt pepper, or even Everything Bagel seasoning..if I have it. I like eating it on small, wheat tortillas with a line of sour cream on top!! Soooooo good and so much more flavor!
My sons and I would make pepperoni pizza with the discounted French bread 🥖 or Italian bread at Walmart. We have bought it for 33 cents before. Our sauce would be 1 can of tomato sauce with Italian seasoning and minced garlic. Finishing it off with pepperoni and shredded mozzarella cheese as toppings. One of the top favorite meals we make together and they don’t realize I created it due to the tight budget of being a single mother.
My egg roll bowl recipe is ground meat of your choice bag coleslaw mix add a 1/2 tsp sesame oil a 1/2 cup of soy sauce give or take depending on what you think it needs, and sweet thi chilli sauce to your taste. It is my family's favorite.
For egg roll in a bowl- I cook my meat (i use ground turkey) onions and garlic in the sesame oil. Add the cabbage with soy sauce, siracha, and some white wine vinegar. Add other spices like ginger as desired.
I enjoyed your video. I had a similar recipe for eggroll in a bowl. The garlic powder vs. fresh or minced garlic may have lessened the flavor. And I didn't have ground beef, but I had some shredded chicken in the freezer and some shredded carrots. It was delicious. Keep trying and tweaking the recipe you have.
I make my roast the same way except I peel and cut potatoes and throw them in to cook with the roast, carrots, onion and celery. They soak up that yummy roast flavor too.
I make it with hamburger, onion, minced garlic, soy sauce and sesame oil and soy sauce! And I use coleslaw mix with carrots to stir fry in. I’ve learned not to taste it till it’s had time to cook awhile cause early on it tastes like it needs more soy sauce and if I add more then it tastes too salty after it’s cooked awhile!!
Large family mom here, with 5 kids (3 teens). Yes, we make egg roll in a bowl every few weeks. The way we make it is easy enough most of my kids can do it solo or in teams. We vary the original recipe. Fresh is best after all, but sometimes we are short on time & will use cole slaw and or broccoli slaw. We found we like to use shrimp (diced), with or without the sausage. I love the idea of the sriracha in it, even if we have been drizzling it for the last 16-18 months of making this. The original recipe we used is in my 1`3 yr old daughter's cooking binder & I could not find it! We always double or triple this recipe. We used half the soy sauce, but double garlic. I will note we love fresh ginger & find we don't need as much when we use fresh. Chili/Red pepper flakes improve flavor too. The closest I found to what we use is tiphero.com/egg-roll-in-a-bowl?.com&
I like to use sausage for the meat. I use 1tsp ground dried ginger, soy sauce, and the teriyaki marinade 1/3c each. I buy the big bag of slaw from Sam's club because it is really cheap here in FL. Loving your videos!
the chicken taquitos looks amazing, I haven't heard of egg roll in a bowl so I cant help you there. but thanks for the recipes! it is chili night tonight, we are using up freezer meals. tacos last night, chili tonight, southern fried chicken tomorrow night. Thursday smorgasboard to include leftovers from all these plus turkey noodle soup, Friday pizza, Saturday breakfast chipped beef over toast and supper home made chicken meat pie.
Add some sweet chili sauce to your egg roll in a bowl to add some flavor and kick. Also some shredded carrot is nice. You can also add oyster sauce and some rice vinegar to add more depth of flavor. I havent made Egg roll in a bowl in a while (used to alot when I came home from Asia). Thanks for the reminder.
Instead of more soy sauce, I would highly recommend oyster sauce. It has the salty flavor, a little sweetness and a depth of flavor. It’s typically used in the meat filling of eggrolls.
Other suggestions is to add a carrot and add Chinese cooking wine or rice wine vinegar
Krysteena Lanuza-Vera fish sauce is a winner too, adds a hit of umami
But for less salt, definitely some vinegar is great
Seriously, Oyster sauce just finishes it up sooooo well!!!
@@francihenderson8526 I use fish sauce, too

The rest of your cabbage = fried cabbage, kielbasa and potatoes with salt and pepper. Simple but so good. ❤
Yes! And start frying with bacon grease...to die for👍
Stephanie Hays yes! Or even sautéed cabbage, in bacon grease of course!
Fry cabbage, bacon and oyster sauce. Yum!
That sounds delicious and I have a chunk of leftover cabbage in my fridge. Thanks for the idea!

Hey, I enjoy watching you feed your large family in a healthy way. I don't have kids yet, but I try to feed myself and my husband in a budget friendly way (overseas in Europe) and I would like to give you this recipe and see if it would be as budget-friendly in the US, as it is here.

100 grams of white brine cheese (Bulgarian traditional white cheese or Feta cheese or any white brine cheese) cut in large flat pieces
10 g butter
2 eggs
1 chili pepper (optional)
For this recipe, you need a lidded baking tray (or Jena glass tray, just anything that has a lid that can hold heat).
Thanks I am 110% making this 👍🏻🙂
For our eggroll bowls, I just remember to balance flavors.
Rose good tip! I will try that, thank you for sharing 😊
Rose why have I never thought to do this!
TheWolfePit I had just watched one of your videos right before I watched this one!
@@lubimiller same! the stir fry one lmao
TheWolfePit hey dad
Ohh Mr Wolfe commented?!? Your famous girl!
Defeats the purpose. Egg roll bowls were created for low carb people. But that sounds good
I appreciate so much that you show how your family eats your meals. You can search any YTer’s “budget friendly meals”but never how the family eats it. I reckon a lot of it is a waste of food (except for your channel!). So I really appreciate you showing the real life. I like it as you stand out in that way from other channels.
Wanted to cry when you tossed out the bone from the roast...omg. It makes good bone broth so easily. Hmmm. Chicken bean soup. Interesting idea.
Me too Beth! I was like wait you can make bone broth from that! Good for nutrition and using everything.
I literally shouted, "No! Keep it for broth!" My family thought I had lost my mind.
I thought I was the only one😖
MEEEE TOOO I was screaming NOOOOOOO
Do you just boil it in water or...?

edinelson queiroga What do you mean by Tablets of ribs or beef?
@@southerngrandma4353 hi
Sorry , is that in Brazil we have a square of beef seasoning
Knorr
This sounds lovely, thank you for sharing.
Keary McHugh I make egg roll in a bowl a lot usually
Needs more soy and sesame lol and I do add a little rice wine vinegar if you don’t put enough sesame it’s bland
I agree! Any of those kinds of dishes need a good balance of rice wine vinegar, brown sugar, sesame oil and soy sauce (the saltiness).
Maybe add in some carrot!
Saute cabbage first and season with salt and pepper garlic and onion powder dried thyme and oregano. Set aside
Do the same with the meat then add some color too bland
As soon as you said "making up crap" I clicked subscribe lol. This is my life!

Rice vinegar! It sounds weird but really brings dishes like the egg roll in a bowl together!
It's so nice to see a real family dinner, with realistic portions!
For the egg roll in a bowl, try using spicy sausage next time. I find the meat adds lots of flavor.
OMG great idea, bet my husband would LOVE that!!!
In fact all ingredients will stretch further if you measure them.
i've always made my egg roll in a bowl using spicy pork sausage since it gives more of a kick. The addition of fish sauce will send it over the top.
My friend taught me this recipe brown sausage and saute with cabbage and peppers (we sometimes use onions) and some hoisin sauce
I dont really have a recipe but this is what I usually put in mine when I make it.
Ground beef
Cabbage
Carrots
Celery
Onion
Mushrooms
Minced Garlic
Sesame oil
Olive oil
Soy sauce
Coconut aminos(this gives you the sweet flavor.
When you needed more sriracha, you could use a little of the liquid in the pot to swirl around in the container to rinse it out into the pot
I use the breakfast sausage it makes it much more flavorful. I also use the slaw mix that has different veggies in it.
Right?! It doesn't even look that special but it's SO good!
Helpful/frugal tip: if you need to get all the sriracha (or whatever) out you can add a tiny bit of water to the container and shake it up. The water will cook off and you get all the spicy goodness out of the bottle.
Mickala Loeffelbein my dad taught me that trick i use with canned tomatoes :)
i make egg roll in a bowl all the time and just recently started adding the great value brand won ton strips as a topping when it’s done. it is soooo good! it adds a little crunch like a real egg roll. i also stir in a little sweet thai chili sauce at the end. so yummy!
I've made egg roll in a bowl before and it turned out delicious. You are missing fresh garlic and fish sauce. They make or break the dish I think. I also add eggs to mine. The recipe only says 1 teaspoon of garlic but I dont think that's enough...
sabs in the city fish sauce is key!
See i love doing the potatoes apart but my mom always just tossed them in with the roast and she would do pearl onions instead of normal ones
the recipe that I have used forever for my eggrolls is a little different!
This sounds good. Do you make patties or how to cook it?
The cut up cabbage is so good put into beef or chicken stew/soup it really gives it a good flavor combined with the other veggies!
I’ve only tried one egg roll in a bowl recipe, but I love it. It’s the Asian skillet slaw from Worth Cooking. Similar to the one you tried, but way more veggies, Chinese five spice, lime, red pepper flakes, etc. to boost the flavor.
Yah, I think adding grated carrots and a few other veggies would make a big difference!
I made Crack Slaw. ( Egg Roll in a bowl) i used lemon pepper and orange peel. I added some carrot minced , and a jar of roasted red pepper.
I use ground pork. I also saute onions and garlic with my meat before I add the cabbage
Or use soy sauce if your recipe is also using it.
For egg roll in a bowl, i usually do a mixture of soy sauce and rice vinegar, a boat load of garlic and ginger and a fried egg on top!
God bless!
Cabbage with egg noodles, butter, salt and pepper. Sometimes I saute up kalbsa and add it.
Garlic, onion, ginger, green onion. Thats a nice Asian base like carrot, celery & onion for other cooking styles.
Egg roll bowl I use pork sausage, add carrots and onions and a lot of seasoning.
Little trick to ripen the avocados quickly is by putting them in the oven for a day or 2! (Make sure no one turns on the oven while they’re in there!)
Or put them in a paper bag and sit 'em on the counter. They'll ripen quickly!
Hahaha happened to my gf lol
Tip to get ur avocados ripe faster grab a piece of newspaper and rolled then up and put them by ur stove or the hottest place in ur kitchen and they will get ripe with in a day or two just don't for get then cux they will go over ripped
For ur tacos u can substitute for corn tortillas and fry them and top them with refried beans , lettuce, and tomatoes slices ,sour cream and greated cheese and there are called taco dorado's / flautas (hard tacos rolled up or takitos ) and u have a taco Tuesday.. or if u have left over chicken chop some tomatoes and onions sauteed them all together and add a pinch of cummin and you have tinga roolled them up put a toothpick so they don't unrolled when frying .
That soup looked yumm I've had a soup in local restaurant it had hominy in it too so so good!
Love all your dinners!
I like how real you are..thank you for that! Your family is adorable
Since we saw you put the roast sliced up and back in the juice, e have started doing it to! Thanks so much for the idea!
Try adding oyster sauce to your egg roll in a bowl. I also like carrot in mine. Then serve it with fried onions. It's a family favorite around here.
Yes! We make egg rolls with oyster sauce. Some other ingredients that we use are green onions, garlic, and cilantro.
@@MyLady22 I hadn't thought to use cilantro. I'll have to try that next time!
Honorable mention is : simple-nourished-living.com/easy-healthy-egg-roll-in-a-bowl-recipe/
FYI We originally used a recipe that called for those fried Asian noodles, and we prefer white, brown, or both white & brown rice mixed under it!
Great ideas! I’m between jobs right now and am looking for budget friendly recipes
I brown my roast with steak seasoning too. Then I add several dashes of Worcestershire sauce on top when I start the crock pot.
Add a splash of either lime juice or nice vinegar to the egg roll bowl. Lifts it to another level.
I like to use sausage for the meat. I use 1tsp ground dried ginger, soy sauce, and the teriyaki marinade 1/3c each. I buy the big bag of slaw from Sam's club because it is really cheap here in FL. Loving your videos!
Try cooking beans in vegetable, beef, or chicken broth. It adds alot of flavor. Plus add a couple cloves of garlic and half of onion. 😋👌
the chicken taquitos looks amazing, I haven't heard of egg roll in a bowl so I cant help you there. but thanks for the recipes! it is chili night tonight, we are using up freezer meals. tacos last night, chili tonight, southern fried chicken tomorrow night.
I love that tquito recipe! I use it with beef, for enchiladas, and as is! So good!
This feels like the realist thing on youtube 😛. Enjoying your simple recipes!
