She really is. Reminds me of my mother in law, who fed her family of 7 on a single income. She fed four of us on $60 of groceries for a week - it was like homemaker’s magic. The grilled cheese became croutons for the spaghetti sauce that became tomato soup - leftovers just kept reincarnating.
I love how these meals are not only cheap but relatively healthy and easy! My husband and i are just starting out and dont have a lot of money so these are so helpful. And they look delicious.
I made the pizza crust- but I only had a 9-13 pan! So, I used 3 C flour, 4 eggs, and 1 1/2 C milk, and it turned out perfectly! And still fit in my dish! Everyone loved it. Great recipe! This one will go in our family cookbook! 🤍🤍🤍
Brilliant, thanks for this. I really like how healthy the recipes are, high in fiber, protein etc., but also delicious. You really demonstrate how little effort it is to cook good wholesome food at home for not much money without leaning on overly processed foods. Well done!
In Quebec we make a variation of shepherd's pie (called pâté chinois) and its basically just a layer of seasoned hamburger, a corn layer (2 cans of kernel corn+a can of creamed corn) and a layer of mashed potatoes. Then you throw it in the oven for a while until the top of the potatoes is roasted. I don't know what the exact recipe is but it's pretty good!
Something to make with creamed corn.. sweet corn cake.. so good… it’s 1 box jif corn muffin mix, 1/2 cp sugar, 1 egg, 1/2 cp melted butter & 1 egg, 1 can creamed corn.. Mix together and bake @ 450 in a greased dish for about 35 mins or until done.
What to do with creamed corn. Take a 2# bag of frozen corn ,2 cans of creamed corn, 2 cups of milk, some butter, salt, pepper. Pour into a greased bake dish. Bake until golden. My great grandma made this every year at holidays. Miss her cooking.
I have just finished eating your pizza recipe that I made the family for supper tonight. omgosh, I won't order out pizza again, it was absolutely delicious 😋 and perfect and so easy to make. Thanks for the recipe. 💘 love love loved it.
Nice frugal recipes, the type I love making because they're good without a lot of ingredients, and using basic items that are usually in the house, healthy and kid friendly.

So I loved the rice and beans recipe... I have a chicken and dumplings recipe that makes it super easy and my kids love it You cook you chicken n the broth the same, then get some can biscuits you can get a pack of four for a dollar, quarter those up and throw them in the pot. Add your seasoning, then I get some can veggies or frozen, mixed or corn or what ever, throw that in the pot. When the veggies are done it’s done, serve with biscuits or cornbread. Super tasty
Great video! My mom made similar versions of everything you made in this video. I ate a TON of chicken and dumplings, rice and beans, and homemade pizza growing up and I loved it.
For pizza crust, and because I am also lazy, I buy French bread dough from my local grocery store's in- house bakery. It's the best! One ball of dough makes two 14-incjh thin crust pizzas.

To make my taco soup or you can of kidney beans a can of corn and a can of diced tomatoes with the little green chilies pound of hamburger meat and taco seasoning to taste. Don’t drain anything leave all the liquid and it takes about 15 minutes on the stove. Are usually put mine in a crockpot and I cook it all day and I use extra meat cause I make it more of a stew than soup and extra seasoning.
How would this be done to reduce gas from beans? I have less gas from black beans than kidney or pinto. Have to try taco soup. I use the cheap 4 pack of biscuits quartered for dumplings and small slices of carrots and celery for added color in chicken and dumplings plus it gave a little veges to... especially when my son was younger
my family loves chicken and dumplings. I have never made rolled dumplings. I used to make drop dumplings, but now I use refrigerator biscuits - the big ones cut into fourths.

For our dumplings, I just pinch off pieces of dough and drop them in! That's how my grandmothers used to do it. Also, my chili seasoning is the same as my taco seasoning, LOL. I guess I can call it chili one night and taco soup the next.
Real dumplings. Love it. Try adding nutmeg into your dough... tasty... also short cut scoop your dough with a small spoon fluffy dumplings that just poof n float. You can even butter fry a little bit and add to the mix. I’ve been making this version for years and have never had complaints. Love the videos!!! Thank you for sharing. Be blessed♥️
My grammy was part Cherokee and she used to make what her mom called Indian dumplings. They are similar to what you have there but she added half self rising flour and added some eggs in place of some of the water and they were amazing. You can make them a little thinner and and spoon them in like a drop dumpling or make them a little stiffer like what you did and roll them out. The egg adds a super rich flavor to the dumplings.
I just made the pizza crust today and it was delicious! My parents thought it was really good. I kept it in the oven for 5 minutes with the sauce and cheese on and maybe I should have kept it in a tad longer. My dad got 2-3 slices. I was worried it would be crispy as I don't like crispy pizza when I saw a lot of browning, but it wasn't at all. Very soft. It's definitely a keeper for me for recipes to make on a regular basis.
At Walmart, in the bulk section (giant cans of cheese sauce, ketchup, PB, etc.) You can get a container of Ortega taco seasoning, that's the same size of the Garlic and Onion spice containers you showed in the first recipe. It less than $5. It is extremely more economical than the packets, and cheaper than mixing your own in that bulk quantity. I have been buying them for years.
I always watch videos like this. And I will say that your video BY FAR is the most affordable. We are on a VERY tight budget and beans and rice is usually a norm here. I buy chicken when it’s on sale and freeze it. I do what I can and try to be creative I loved these recipes! Thank you so much
Turkey is 87 cents per pound at the grocery stores after Thanksgiving and Ham is $1 per pound. Get a 20 cu ft stand up freezer and pack it up! This meat is good for 6 months to a year old, just make sure to rotate it when you buy new so it won't age out of time. I taught my boys 4H so that they can raise their own food. :)
A trick i use in my chicken and dumplings i use the 4 can biscuits from Walmart and cut them in third for dumpling and i mix in one packet of chicken gravy mix to thicken the broth
I liked that Frugal Mom put pointers like using the chicken quarters instead of higher cost meat. I personally wondered why the markets sell chicken leg quarters 10# for $5 that's so cheap but I had a hard time using it for meals. If I can cook and debone it I think it maybe better.
Loved the video. As far as the creamed corn I have an idea for you. My mama makes fried corn. You take a can of creamed corn, and a can of regular. Mix them together with a small amount of flower, and a little bit of finely chopped onion. Add any seasoning you want. Fry it in a pan stirring until it's got the consistancy of a very thick chowder. It's delicious and you can add all kind of things to it like bacon, chives, i bet tomatoes would taste good in it.
Add cubed white potatoes in the chicken and dumplings, and we call it a chicken fricot. It’s an old Acadian meal that we have grown up on. (French Canadian or some acadians live down south in Louisiana after the deportation of the French Acadians/Canadians in 1755) 😊🇨🇦
Thank you for all your inspiring ideas!! My grandma always made the best chicken and dumplin's. A trick I learned from her was she used a pizza cutter to quickly cut rolled out dough😉
I always use the Herb Ox bouillon because they make a sodium free version and I have kidney disease. I just add a bit of pink himalayan salt after cooking.
I have a Yedi electric pressure cooker, and all the Instant Pot accessories work perfectly in it, even though the manufacturer issues the usual caveat---"Do Not Use Accessories Meant for Other Pots!" But Yedi doesn't make any accessories, so yeah, IP ones work great. Love, love, love that pot!!!
Cream of corn - we put it in corn chowder with some frozen kernel corn and use it shepherd's pie (our area call it Chinese pie which is called that because of mispronunciation from Quebec) I also sometimes use cram corn in corn muffins.
My dearest Tess---Please know that you are loved and how much your Daddy loved you. Do not cry, but rejoice for his reunion w his Maker and his betrothed. My heart will always be with yoi--God Bless
I tried the pizza recipe using whole wheat flour and it was delicious and SO easy. I'll never buy frozen pizza again! My dough was yummy but didn't seem to "puff up" as much, so I'm thinking it might have been the flour 😊
Melanie Topham I was just thinking that looked a bit like Yorkshire pudding... glad someone else said it... have never thought of doing that with it tho, have you?😊
In this part of the country - Eastern Pennsylvania - (PA Dutch Country!) your chicken and dumplings we call Chicken Pot Pie. We also put carrots in it, and sometimes potatoes. Your chicken pot pie is just chicken pie here, although sometimes it's chicken corn pie, if we add corn. And milk! Always milk to make it creamy! Finally, chicken and dumplings here is when we take that dumpling dough, and literally just gob it by spoonfuls into the pot, making these yummy, beautiful little clouds of dough that cook in the broth and just taste heavenly. Do you have that there? If you do, what do you call it? It's delicious!
I can't lie; I love lil man's cameo while mom is explaining; completely oblivious to his presence. I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!!! I hope one day (when I have a family of my own to be a father/husband to), I can get down like you. You got skills ma'am...I wish there were more ladies out there with "wife skills"...smh. I loooove to cook; just missing my own family, and btw; I'm a man. Food is just my "love language"; so im addicted to your channel. Keep doing what you do...cuz you do it so well. ✌🏽 to you and your lovely family!
Your crazy crust pizza looks yummy, the recipe is very similar to a classic dish here in England called "toad in the hole". No actual toads involved I promise, it's a batter like you made (sans pepper and Italian herbs) with whole sausages placed on top so they cook as the batter puffs up around them. Must be served with thicc gravy, it's the rules 😁
Just made this vegan style-used part egg replacer and part chia/flax It was good, but next time I’ll add some baking soda to get some “ fluff” Thanks for the idea/recipe 😋
Cream corn is good for corn bread as note already, but also on top of mashed potatoes as a gravy🙂, i know i do more with it but cant think what off hand🤷♀️
Thank you! Just a share...In the South we add tiny potatoes to everything from meat to pasta. I have a picante/salsa food processor (maybe 10.00 at Walmart) that dices carrots, celery, peppers, and potatoes so fine that the nutrients are in the recipe but not really visible. I use it for all my recipes and for soups, beans, spaghetti, hamburgers, etc. It keeps nutrition UP and food cost DOWN! Just another thought for saving on food bills. Thank You for the video!
I make lasagna soup, cheese is just a topping at the table. Freezes well, makes a ton, and can be a crock pot meal if you want or a last minute cook. Look for it on pinterest.
I grew up eating creamed corn as a side dish on it's own, usually with polish sausage (add milk/cream and salt n pepper while heating it, that's it, so delicious 😊)
One of our favourite things to do with taco soup is add a block of cream cheese to the mix. I take it out in the morning and add it in about half an hour or so before dinner if I'm letting the soup cook a while or right at the time I'm making it if I'm just making it right before dinner.
Love your cooking. I actually have used some of these ideas, but under different names. The pizza crust is actually Yorkshire Pudding batter, maybe you have added a little more flour so it's not so "eggy". I'll try your recipe. I've made your dumplings, except it was a recipe for homemade noodles. They were in chicken noodle soup, with drop baking powder dumplings that puffed up like bread inside. Can't wait to try your recipes, and catch more videos.
My family also adores chicken & dumplings. A handy tip for cutting the dumplings into strips is to use a pizza cutter. It makes it so quick & easy. Also had to say I enjoyed your little helper. So cute!!☺️💕

13:54 is so cool the way you threw those oven mitts off. Like its time to eat everyone.
Cream of corn - we put it in corn chowder with some frozen kernel corn and use it shepherd's pie (our area call it Chinese pie which is called that because of mispronunciation from Quebec) I also sometimes use cram corn in corn muffins.
You should make a book of recipes
I love your videos, and your son waving and smiling behind you was the cutest!
🤗
What a beautiful kid ...he likes camera..MAYBE he will be a cooking master WHEN he grows up!!
I use cream corn in my Mexican Cornbread.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this video! I love seeing how you take your clearance finds and make them into a full meal for your family. Thank you ❤️❤️
Pizza pancakes yes! Add sausage bake then add maple syrup 🤤
My dearest Tess---Please know that you are loved and how much your Daddy loved you. Do not cry, but rejoice for his reunion w his Maker and his betrothed. My heart will always be with yoi--God Bless
As a Mom of 12, many of them 6 foot plus, I appreciate your humor and thriftiness.
I tried the pizza recipe using whole wheat flour and it was delicious and SO easy. I'll never buy frozen pizza again! My dough was yummy but didn't seem to "puff up" as much, so I'm thinking it might have been the flour 😊
The crust you made for your pizza is a common one used in the uk its Yorkshire pudding batter.😀
Melanie Topham I was just thinking that looked a bit like Yorkshire pudding... glad someone else said it... have never thought of doing that with it tho, have you?😊
And with sausages it's Toad-in-the-hole!
We make drop dumplings. It's faster and what we are used to, but I like both kinds.
I have a Crockpot Express, which is a pressure cooker and a slow cooker in one. I love it!! Use it all the time.
Wow Christine, you outdid yourself. These all look fantastic. I love Tiffany and Amanda too. God bless 🙏🏼❤️
Everything you made looks amazing gotta try the chili soup since we have lots of beans 🫘
Did you notice him at all? 😂😂😂 that was just so cute lol omg
Oh, I put creamed corn in my big iron skillet cornbread!
Hi Christine, I add a can of creamed corn in my cornmeal muffins made from scratch, it makes it moist and DELICIOUS!!!
Love your videos! The only thing I use creamed corn for is to make corn chowder.
Just made this vegan style-used part egg replacer and part chia/flax
It was good, but next time I’ll add some baking soda to get some “ fluff”
Thanks for the idea/recipe 😋
I use cream corn in my sheperd's pie & johnny corn cakes =)
I grew up eating creamed corn as a side dish on it's own, usually with polish sausage (add milk/cream and salt n pepper while heating it, that's it, so delicious 😊)
LOVE THAT YOU PUT 1 OF YOUR YUMMY DELICIOUS RECIPE AND DIRECTIONS UNDERNEATH SO WE CAN HAVE THEM FOR LATER THANK YOU SO MUCH
Who else came to the comment section because of the funny son who stole the spotlight lol
Creamed corn added to corn bread with a bit of sugar is delicious
For the first meal rice and beans are a staple in Brazilian cuisine we usually have them with seasoned yucca flour, bananas and fried eggs
One of our favourite things to do with taco soup is add a block of cream cheese to the mix. I take it out in the morning and add it in about half an hour or so before dinner if I'm letting the soup cook a while or right at the time I'm making it if I'm just making it right before dinner.
my gosh Christine, how about we plug it in, oh my word... hilarious
Very inspiring. I love the delicious concept of the video. Wonderful healthy video. Awesome job.
Pro tip cream corn in corn bread. Reduce milk. Game changer through some jalapeño for some kick.
Just made your chicken n dumplings for dinner tonight. So cheap and SO good! I love your channel!!
I feel like you are really helping people. I came here to find recipes for my family and you got me hooked. New subbie! 😁
Welcome!!
Your kiddo cracks me up! Great videos!!
I made this soup, but tweaked it some. Used Chorizo and Italian sausage, chicken stock. Soooo good 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😘. Yum
I use canned biscuits for my dumplings. Cheap and easy. And delicious.
Great idea!
