this solved my 6 month long apathy, I knew something was up but my blood was tested on almost everything on the entire labform, but they don't do iodine blood tests, now when I started supplementing iodine on my own after trying dozens of things beacause my doctors thought I was becoming crazy and made up a problem, I became alive after 3 days, crazy... thank you so much, I've lost a lot of confidence in medical professionals that's for sure...

I walked into a pharmacy/drug store (chancy drugs) today and asked for dietary iodine. Pharmacist said she had no idea that iodine was taken orally. If I used iodinized salt and ate salt water fish each day my iodine intake would be less than 1mg per day. Our body has about 1500mg of which up to 50mg is stored in the thyroid. Other iodine storage areas are breasts saliva glands and ovaries which also make T2. We urinate excess iodine. Your 12.5 mg per day is excellent. The breasts store iodine but the thyroid needs iodide. Lugols is a good supplementation. Iodine was being used to cure goiter in the 1800s. Doctors in the 1970s were using 400mg three times per day Super Saturated iodine for patients in the hospital. Goiter is from low iodine. Hashimotos is low iodine and low selenium, B2, B3 possibly. If your doctor only test TSH T4 T3 ask for an iodine test. Low iodine results in breast and ovary cysts which can turn cancerous. There is a pandemic of deficient vitamin D and iodine.

I took 5% Lugol's iodine five days a week for a year, applying it to my stomach, nails, throat, and everywhere else, and it worked really well for me. However, at the end of the year, I developed large lymph nodes in my throat, under my jaw, and around my ears, as well as near the trachea. I experience a burning sensation in my throat whenever Lugol's iodine touches it. It swells more and never goes down. Killing good bacteria and allowing bad ones to multiply, causing an infection in my salivary glands. I have used many antibiotics, but it never goes away. And in the last three months, five thyroid nodules suddenly appeared. We also applied 2% Lugol's iodine to my son and had him gargle with it, and he developed black rashes on his legs, his teeth decayed, white lines appeared on his nails, and his throat lymph nodes became very hard. What is 'T2'? I have developed problems in my salivary glands and breasts after using iodine. Do you know how to fix this with 'T2'?

I have Hashimoto’s, what’s so jacked up is the same symptoms of Hashimoto’s is the exact same as low iodine! I started off with very low vitamin D (clear signs) I was very tired, and hair coming out thinning, gaining weight, cold, and I found out the knee reflex doesn’t work as well ( I had this for many years!) my breast were sore, I was depressed, didn’t have a period unless I took folic acid… they never tested my iodine! I had to nearly fight to get my Thyroid tested for Hashimoto… because my labs were coming back normal. When I say the medical field failed me… they failed me! I was told I was older and this comes with aging. I was 37. I’m on the medication but I want to be healed!!! 🙄

When I was in my 30s I was told I needed a mammogram every year even though there was no breast cancer in my family. Thinking doctors knew everything I did what I was told. My dog began pushing his nose deep inside my breast. So when I went in for my mammogram I told them, I think there’s something in there. They didn’t see anything on the mammogram because my breasts are too dense. My first thought that is why am I getting one of these every year?
So then they did an ultrasound and found a lump about the size of a plum. Said it was benign. Course they wanted to cut it out so I went to a naturopath. He had me take five drops of Lugol’s iodine daily Within two months the tumor has shrunk. I’ve been taking 3 to 4 drops daily for the last 15 years. All my thyroid tests come out normal. I have discovered that this is to help counteract radiation. Not saying everybody should do this but it’s not harming me.

I got a doctor's appointment with a new doctor. I'm 65 years old went through menopause 15 years ago and I'm still having horrifying hot flashes off the top of my head so bad that the sweat drips off the end of my shoulder length hair. Handheld fan that sprays water is the only thing that will saves me. Dr kept saying blood tests are normal. My medication has not been changed in 15 years. I believe I'm being overmedicated. When I told my doctor that I would like to go to a thyroid specialist she acted insulted. Set the blood tests were within range and I was just fine. I do not take pills if I don't have to, not even an aspirin. One time after I've been begging her for sleeping pills and she would not prescribe them for me and told me to just take melatonin. Finally after 4 days of not sleeping her nurse practitioner went ahead and prescribed me some sleeping pills. Great I'm on another pill. At least I won't die from lack of sleep. Getting some sleep but not much because I got to wake up so I won't soak my pillow with sweat and have to lay back down on it in the middle of the night. I feel for each and every one of you. When you say you have a bad thyroid to somebody who doesn't understand it's like saying you have an ingrown hair. I sure hope my new doctor cares enough to make me have some kind of functional life.

It has no wheat, rye, barley, almond, coconut, corn, amaranth etc. Rather beans rice and birds seed. This along with meat proteins has helped digestion tremendously. I diagnosed my iodine deficiency by myself :) My endocrinologist refused to check my iodine level saying that insurance wouldn’t cover it and there was no need for the test, even though I was feeling slight enlargement of the right side of my thyroid gland. Then I paid for the test in the other facility which showed that I have iodine deficiency. When I showed it to my endocrinologist, she just apologized. I solved my problem with taking kelp supplement, enlarged gland reduced to its normal size. #save100millionlives

Not everyone can handle high dose iodine. Lugol's iodine bout killed me several years ago. So it's not wise to take multiple milligrams of iodine all willy nilly like any other supplement - especially if you have a chronic illness and you're in a weakened state. It's recommended that you work with an iodine educated doctor so you don't accidentally murder yourself. You can thank me later and just take some kelp or if you must use Lugol's iodine, use it externally and know that you'll absorb approximately 8 to 12 percent of said iodine which is orders of magnitude safer than taking Lugol's iodine internally.

In hospital settings there are nuclear medicine where one can get a dose of radioactive iodine (RAIU thyroid uptake), and as well in CT one can receive a radiographic contrast (non-radioactive, a nonionic iodinated contrast) which has iodine in the molecule which is used in oral and intravenous administration. There are also providone iodine scrub used in procedures. What makes things difficult is that “iodine” IS found on many patient allergy lists in the hospital computer systems. I wish it wasn’t an option to list as an allergy. Due to lack of knowledge and poor memory of reaction experiences it just keeps living on as an allergy.
