    Dr. David Brownstein seems to be the reigning expert on iodine based on 25 years of practice and research. He's also written about 10 books. I would suggest viewers check out his interviews on Nutrition with Judy for completely different information about iodine dosing. After seeing those, I was able to stop taking thyroid medication after decades and produce normal thyroid output using iodine supplementation alone.

      The most accurate way to check iodine is to request(script)for an iodine blood level drawn by doctor or health provider(e.g. Labcorp). This way a person has a baseline iodine base level and if the iodine blood level is too low or high the Provider(e.g. MD,NP) can recommend treatment.

    Hard to reconcile how different the famed Dr. Brownstein's advice is from yours. He's an iodine expert, considered an iodine literate doctor, has written several books on iodine, treated thousands of patients on iodine and he starts his patients (not just thyroid patients) on 25 mg of iodine from a form like Iodoral and he claims the opposite of what you say with the claim that these larger doses lead to Grave's/hyperthyroid. American consumption of iodine in the diet has starkly decreased in the last 50 years and the incidence of Grave's has greatly INcreased over those same 50 years. That doesn't jibe with what you're saying about your dosage recommendations.

If you consider Coastal communities who get their Iodine from the foods they eat, there's rarely a report on overdose. The problem is - how much is neede3d and how much is safe? There appears to be precious little studies done to assess our real daily need for this vital element. The good doctor here in this video can only say - don't take too much. Well, what is too much? What studies can he point to that support the 150-300 mcg range? On what does he base his opinion that taking more than 300 mcg of iodine a day increases your risk of Graves or Hashimotos disease? Is chlorine and flouride in water bad for your thyroid?
    Chlorine. Chlorine removes iodine from our cells which is particularly harmful to the thyroid because most people already suffer from iodine deficiency and thyroid tissue requires a large amount of iodine. In addition, studies have shown a link between chlorine exposure and low testosterone levels.
    As it is already known that fluoride is more electronegative than iodine, it easily displaces iodine within the body, thereby affects the functioning of thyroid gland.

    Great video but you’re forgetting to mention that women need much higher levels of iodine than men after puberty and double the amount when pregnant or nursing. Also please mention the amount of toxins and radiation that the population has been exposed to which takes any of the good iodine out of their body
    Yes there are trace amounts of iodine in many different foods, but unless the minerals and vitamins are in the soil, then it’s not going be in the food you’re eating!!!! Most of the foods we have are commercially farmed and have a low vitamin and mineral Content FYI.
    The majority of the population is dying from iodine deficiency, not from too much iodine. Too much of anything can kill you, including water.
    My mother always told me RDA stands for” really dumb advice”, when it comes to taking the correct amount. They want to make sure you’re taking too low of a dose to cure any disease naturally . They only want synthetic pharmaceutical drugs that they can patent, and make money on, to cure you.

      With Lugol’s iodine, your body will notice an immediate change. Concentration and focus will improve drastically, energy levels will increase and fatigue will disappear. Iodine is a nutrient for the brain and the entire glandular system. It’s important to take the companion nutrients along with the Iodine, Selenium, Magnesium, Vitamin B, and some vitamin C.

    I am an HIV patient, on HAART and I had a spiritual awakening experience in 2013. I used nascent iodine to decalcify my pineal gland a few years ago…
    It took about two weeks to work and I noticed that I felt ultra awake and aware of everything in my surroundings…It was an amazing connection…
    It had greatly helped me in my spiritual journey.
    I just bought some Lugol’s 2% solution and was wondering what your take on it is…
    Intuitively, I feel like this formula is stronger…
    How much should I take to use just to keep my pineal gland decalcified?

    Great 👍 video....women need much higher levels of iodine than men after puberty and it is critical to take selenium in order to absorb iodine properly.
    Magnesium is critical as well and helps you absorb these critical vitamins and minerals. Most people have too much calcium and not enough magnesium.
    Most people are toxic with bromine and iodine deficient. So you have to take into account all the toxins exposure to radiation that we have in our environment that block your body from absorbing iodine too

He sends me the iodine and I'm on the #2 potency, which is a 1:7 diluted with distilled water and THEN take 2 drops a day. It's more maintanence than therapy and I do have iodine that's topical to use on skin tags and warts... I also take a supplement of Norweigen Kelp, one capsule a day. My mother took thyroid supplenents unwil the day she died! I think with all the EMF around us, it doesn't hurt to have an adequate of iodine in our systems. I’ve heard high dosing is no more than 1000mcg … I will say I have used a very potent Lugol’s and it detoxed halides and or flouride so much that every time I ate I had to lay down before I passed out. My bp was dropping below normal ( yes I checked it) it lasted about 4 days I now only used regular strength so I can ease into it. I do use more than one drop a day to get rid of the excess estrogen ( post baby and now cellulite in legs) but that’s my experience. Too much when you’ve never detoxed flouride or bromide ( i had avoided flouride at home much as possible for 10 years even had well water but probably was still getting some through fast food beverages) the only other reason I can say is that an old hair strand test showed very high aluminum and no other high levels of metals. I perhaps want to know of iodine also detoxes aluminum? I do know that silica detoxes aluminum very gently. So, iodine is sometimes the culprit when it’s actually an overloaded amount of bromide and flouride in the thyroid. ( same as zinc making people nauseated when it is the copper overload being detoxed bc they’re opposites .. something to think about) Okay I’m
    Done lol thank you for any information or experiences on this iodine dosing

    I've heard/seen other doctors/nutritionists on RUclips also say that iodine is a critical necessity for humans, but that we have no way of producing it. That's the part I just don't understand or comprehend...if our body has no way of producing OR regulating iodine, and we MUST get it from external sources, how can it be critical, and a necessity? If the body doesn't, and has NEVER produced it, and cannot regulate the amount we take in, how can it be critical or necessary? I thought the human body was basically a self-contained, self-sustaining "machine" that heals and takes care of itself (aside from needing external food). Thanks for any insight or explanation you can give, Dr. Childs!

    I appreciate that someone is talking about iodine, but I have to disagree about the dosing. I've taken 50 mg iodoral with the cofactors for over 15 years and enjoy very good health and strong labs. No signs of Hashi's or Graves. Before and after ultrasounds showed the complete dissolution of ovarian and uterine cysts ant experientially my whole menstrual cycle became much easier. It seems to be far more problematic for people taking too small of a dose - mcg doses seem to create a lot of detox symptoms. Additionally iodine has shown to be beneficial in reducing the effects or likelihood of atherosclerosis. See the work of Dr Jorge Flechas, he has several excellent videos here on RUclips and has published extensively (with Abraham and Brownstein). This element is critical for everyone, but especially for women's reproductive health.

  • @robzreelz
    @robzreelz 5 месяцев назад

    Hashimotos and auto immune thyroid problems exploded exponentially when iodine was removed from food and medicine and replaced with iodized salt. There's an inverse relationship there indicating it is not the driving factor. Iodine can still cause these problems to get worse if you are missing the co factors, take too much too quickly, have halide toxicity etc, but that's not the fault of the iodine. In the old days of medicine, all thyroid issues (and virtually every other health issue as well) were treated with iodine.

  • @TheOgi22
    @TheOgi22 Месяц назад

    People get angry with you when you talk about iodine, perhaps because you demonize it.
    The amounts you mention are nonsense and the problems that could occur after exceeding the released dose are still nonsense to most people.
    150 to 300 micrograms is the dose that is minimally necessary to prevent the development of certain thyroid diseases due to little or no iodine intake.
    This does not mean that this dose covers the total necessary iodine intake for the entire organism, for all cells and all glands.
    Look at which organs and which cells need iodine and which cells all have iodine ?receptors? - Sodium/Iodide cotransporter.

    Dr. David Brownstein (mentioned a lot below) advises 24mg a day, based on his measurements of a few thousand patients over the years. He just gives them 50mg of iodine and then measures excretion in the urine the next day. Unless they are taking about 24mg a day, they will not excrete excess iodine, implying their bodies are using it all... after all, all the glands that make mucus (according to Dr. Elisabeth Bright) use a lot of iodine, so, especially, women need more than men as their sex organs produce more mucus. But iodine therapies are usually aimed at getting rid of fibrous breast tissue, or cysts on glands. The thyroid gland's iodine use is not the main concern for many people.

    Going to tell RUclips to never recommend this channel. Not sure why they recommended it. 90 percent of salt eaten in the US is inside processed foods with non iodized salt. Even in iodized salt containers, if it's stored in heat, humidity and an open air shaker, the iodine in it can evaporate. Asian cultures get milligrams levels of iodine daily from seaweed in the diet. Most people in the US don't get as much iodine as they think they do.

    I’ve recently watched a few vids with Drs recommending supplementing iodine. The reason being that the Thyroid controls many systems to function and the truth is that iodine is no longer readily available in our food. The soil is depleted or there never was iodine there in some areas. The Drs say 95% of us are deficient in iodine and need it to prevent so many illnesses. Most Pharmacies here in Australia don’t stock the Lugols iodine for internal use so has to be sourced on line. I ordered my first bottle today.

      Not quite.
      "By combining information from dietary records, food surveys, urine iodine analysis (both spot and 24-hour samples) and seaweed iodine content, we estimate that the Japanese iodine intake--largely from seaweeds--averages 1,000-3,000 μg/day (1-3 mg/day)."
