It used to be my weakest stroke now it's one of my favourite. I also think it's fundamental to improve both your resistance and butterfly tempo as the breastroke has some similarities to butterfly.

I just picked up swimming recently and all I've done so far to improve my breast stroke is take a look at the guys in the other lanes who are clearly training for competition and try to mimic their movements and tempo. I was oblivious to concepts such as streamline and although I actually picked up on it yesterday watching the other guys, I had no idea why they were doing it. It's nice to have a video explaining every part of the stroke in such detail. I also try to listen to what their coach is telling them while I do my thing, I'm basically pimping them by having lessons without paying 😂
Great explanation of the technique- I always say there are 2 parts Part 1- Pull/ Breathe Part 2- kick/glide Stressing narrow kick- Keep fingers slightly spread apart Try to keep head basically face down and let the pull bring mouth above the water--
Thanks for this, much appreciated. It's given me something to focus on. I'm a 60 yr-old masters swimmer and do 50m SC breaststroke in 36 secs. My problem is that I had a long break from swimming and having only recently returned to competition. Having changed my kick to the modern style, I keep pulling my adductors. What are the best exercises to strengthen these and also to warm them up?
Appreciate! whatever we do, when the lower back is naturally stiff by waking up in a morning it's struggling, and when the lower back is relaxed, it goes perfect!

Hi Irene, great question! You don't want to add kicks - you want to take full strokes. While Fares used the numbers 5,4,3,2, you can use totally different numbers: for instance, it might take you 15 strokes of breaststroke to get to the other side, which is completely fine! But then, you want to stretch out your stroke and try to take less strokes the next rep, therefore maximizing your efficiency and your distance per stroke. Hope this helps!

Thank you for the video! Love it! Could you analyze the breakstroke of Tatjana Schoenmaker?
Great suggestion!
Thanks , really it gonna help me to drop my time, i also have one question , i lost my coordination of kick and pull in racing , don't know why but it is something which happed in my last 2 races , so what should i do ???
Arin Modi I’m probably not qualified for advice, but my coaches say that if your rhythm feels off, you can do some separation drill, then try to swim breaststroke again. Afterwords, your body will try to remember what it was doing before. That’s just my two cents; if your having trouble, you should bing watch breaststroke videos.
