I’m 75. Swam competitive breaststroke as a kid for ten years. Now, my training is simply to have good technique, 30 labs, three days per week. I live in Florida so I can swim year round. 8 to 10 stroke count per lap. Swimming is keeping me off the couch and alive.
Respect ❤❤❤
Я первый раз пришла в бассейн в 53, начала учиться плавать с нуля. Сначало стеснялась, а теперь счастлива. А вы в вашем возрасте вообще красавчик!🎉
I am so happy 'cause just last weekend I participated in my first open water competition in the sea. Although it was only 800m I managed to win. It was really hard but your videos and the app really helped me a lot to accomplish this. Thanks a lot for the content you have shared so far.
You rock!! Thank you for sharing, glad we could help!
Awesome!

BEST VIDEO ON BREAST STROKE... All you need after this lecture is practice, re watch, practice and watch again. Thanks
I am pretty sure one of my biggest mistakes is wide kicks...thank you SO much for this video!! Can't wait to try out the drills tomorrow !
You're so welcome! Good luck and happy swimming!
Me too..going to try this out in the morning.
I also think i do wide kicks it .
My kicks don’t feel right.
I explained above !! REAL breaststroke is (was) sidewards. This style as as promoted is "Jumping stroke".
World championships and olympics should place it under the correct name and set APART from braststroke. The one is not better then the other, it's a completely different swimming style.
As if you would promote butterfly stroke ALSO as the better version of breaststroke. Complete nonsense. International swimming federations MUST take action, and re-install the original breaststroke as a contest style.
I am going to be 70 years old in a few months. I was a champion breaststroker as a kid, and I just got back in the water. Had to have a TKR so that I could do the breast stroke again! Great video. The kick is, indeed, much narrower than in 1960.
Very inspiring. I used to be a swimmer when I was younger too. Started to get back to training again at 42 and I noticed the same thing you did about the kick that seems to be much narrower now compared to when I was training earlier. :)
What is a TKR?
@@chanahliorawizenberg4799 I suspect it's "Total Knee Replacement". That's one of the first search results when I google "TKR".
@@wasabikimjisame! I'm 43 and just getting back into it. Things are so different from 20 years ago! But I love how much more fluid strokes are now. Definitely changes for the better.
I'm still learning, but timing is definitely my biggest struggle!
Do the pause drill, it helps a lot.
just keep going, its the best.
Good luck, for me the kick was always a struggle but now its getting much better just belive in your self and you will achive your dreams💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

I've been learning swimming for a year and watching videos like this for the first time has brought my 50m breaststroke time from 1:50 to 1:20
Nice job! Way to work hard and think about technique!
yesterday i turn 50 years old!!! if only I have this tips and techniques when I used to train swimming.... i probably hit olimpycs or at least panamerican games!! tks a lot!!
I'm 37 and haven't swum for years. The flutter kicks + breast pull is the first style I do when I re-learn swimming. One day the lifeguard told me that's wrong move. So I practiced proper breaststroke with the right kicks. But I have always felt comfortable in that combo. So now I'm doing both after watching this with no guilt. 👍👍👍
Fares, You are the best instructor out here on youtube. Thanks for sharing with us. Keep up the good work.
I just found out I have a wide kick problem yesterday with my coach! And then this video is released today 🤯😏
You got this!
Keep working on it! You’ve got this!
Lets gooo! You can do it!
Go! Go! Go! You have it!
You’re an amazing coach, such nuanced explanations. I always watch these before my swim sessions, thank you ☺️
You're so welcome! Happy swimming :)
Thank you, ive been strugeling with breast stroke for a few months bow and this video made a huge difference even my coach said i was much better i also droped 2 sec on my 50 breast, thank you so much!!!!
Soooo excited I came across this video. Just started learning the breast stroke and the tips are fantastic. With the drills I can work on my own out side of classes. Thank you so much 💃🏽
I wish I'd seen this a few years ago. I learned by mistake to train Breast and Fly fast. Great video, with great drills!
Happy swimming!
I've just started improver lessons as an adult and I'm doing breast stroke next week. I'm really nervous about it and this tips have definitely helped, thank you. When I was at school ( a loooooong time ago) we were taught to do wide kicks, so I'm definitely going to remember that one
Thank you so much for this! I've been doing breast stroke in my competitions but I never felt like I could go any faster than what I've always done, but these tips are going to help me so much! Especially just the order: pull kick glide.
Great video. It's good to see this technique from the bottom of the pool. I "learned" it from the pictures in the book long time ago but now I understand that in fact this style is much more complicated.
Your explanation is very clear..it really helped me as a beginner..Big thank coach
Beautifully explained
Such a nice, structured Video! Thank you for sharing this knowledge!
This is fantastic. New to swimming and it’s humbling how technique driven it is compared to road cycling.
I've just taken up swimming again. I'm 42 and haven't swam since I was 10. This video is soooo helpful. Thanks!
Great tips :D Also struggeling with the pull, hard to train it
You can do it!
Love your videos! I'm training my 6 yr old now, and your videos definitely helpful for training me and the kids. THanks!!!
New subscriber! Breast has been my favorite stroke ever since I was in 4th grade and I’m in 9th grade right now. I noticed my technique was getting bad but now it’s gotten a lot better!
Welcome! Good luck with your breaststroke technique!
These videos have really helped me! I struggle with the breaststroke and these videos break it down. Love drills.
Glad you like them, Toni! Happy swimming :)
Ive always been a breastroker
34 sec 50m
1:16 100m
These were my pb's as a 15 year old 40 years ago
Ive recently got back in the pool as a masters swimmer
My masters pb's are
40 sec 50m
1:29 100m
Ive been doing many of these drills aswell as endurance sets
My kick and pull and glide are really good at a lower speed and stroke rate
As soon as i try to race my stroke rate goes sky high and my technique falls apart
I will try the pull with freestyle kick as i havent done that
I want to knock off another few secs for my 50 and get fown close to 1:20 for my 100
Great breastroke tutorial
Cheers 👍
That's actually really good my PB is 39 in 50 breast and 1:20 in 100 do u do short course or long course
@@williamrithaler4051
Those are my long course pb's both my pb's as a kid and my masters times
I also do interval splits aswell
Push off the wall and go flat out for 25 m
Rest for 30 seconds and repeat
Cumulative total for that minus the rest part for the 100m is sub 1:20
Not too bad for an old fella

Weve had very little training and competition lately
We are constantly under a revolving door of lockdowns here in Australia
All of our gyms and pools are regularly shut down so i can do my land based private training and running but not much swimming unfortunately
@@barefootbeachrunner9498 oh yea cases have gone down a lot in Canada and most people are vaccinated so restrictions have been lifted a lot
Thank you so much.
These tips helped me a lot.
I've been swimming regularly (twice a week) since September last year (7months) and it's only this last month I've been brave enough to wear goggles. Now swimming is totally different for me and the time goes so quickly because I'm concentrating on breathing properly so I don't drown 😂. Before goggles I was just swimming breaststroke with my head above the water, after using goggles I was breathing every other stroke and putting my head under, but I knew I could improve.
I watched this video before I went today and I went from 34 lengths in 31 mins yesterday to 37 lengths in 32 mins today. Also my pace increased by 10 seconds per 100m. I felt slower but your video was playing in my head and I was concentrating on streamlining, pulling heels to butt, not too wide kick, breathing every pull and gliding. It felt so amazing, best swim ever (so far) ❤ thank you!!
I'm working on my breaststroke and timing. Not sure when to bend and pull my knees up to kick. Should I complete the pull before pulling up my knees???
I do that to, thanks for the tip
Thanks for those precious tips
Very helpful, thanks
I am a 80 year old world class Breast Stoker. I disagree with doing the pull with a flutter kick with fins. It is far better to do a dolphin kick with fins because it fits the timing of the stroke much better.
Thanks, be happy.
Great advice, been swimming a long long time but, forgot about the double kick over the years...tried it today and boy it's quicker! Thank you!
A couple years ago, my old coach had me swim breaststroke with a pool buoy. I don’t know if this was the best way, but in narrowed down my kick and made me faster so...
Woah, fantastic! An older swimmer I am, and can still keep up with younger folk easily because of my technique...but boy, you've taught me things regarding technique that I never knew!
Thanks sir
Very interesting. Will try this today. I am a terrible breaststroker as I am pigeon toed (and for some reason that my parents don't remember I had braces on my legs when baby) and seem to go nowhere when kicking breast.
Wow. You explains so clear! Thanks for the tips, I will try to improve my breaststroke.
Thanks a lot! I'm so close to beating my club record and my last chance is next week and this will help a heap, wish me luck!
PS. I'm subscribing too, and if you see this I think you should too.
Interesting, I was a water polo player in childhood. I find when I go to the swimming pool something new every time. I have a big respect for profesional swimmers. Thank you for what

I’m ancient now but have swum competitively all my life. I’ve had 3 years out due to surgeries but I’m back in the pool again and have a very painful left knee. I figured I’ve become sloppy with my kick. After watching your video I see I am kicking too wide. Many thanks 🙏
Thank you so much for taking the time to explain all these aspects of the backstroke. I need to pass a swimming test and I will definitely be using your advices, starting tomorrow!

Tried something new and helped a lot.
Add on a dolphin kick staying in glide after first kick. It finally got me into feeling the dolphin kick, which I try to learn, and the glide of breaststroke gets longer.
(Only 3 months into swimming regularly, have no coach or course)
I have a regional meet this weekend and this is definitely gonna help me get to the finals

Hey Fares I watched this video about half a year ago and now my 100 breast time in SCY as a young person is 103.5!
Hi Fares, the 1 pull-2 kicks drill is definitely one of the best drill ever especially when I have a stiff back, as I am relatively new to swimming. Thanks for your teaching, It would be awesome to learn from u in person 1 day :D
You are the best teacher ever 👍🏻
Glad you think so!
Thank you for the videos they put a lot of sense in how to swim correctly . I have downloaded the myswimpro , but I don't see the free version only a free trial after which you have to pay . so either I downloaded the wrong one or there is no such thing as a free lunch ... Thanks 🙂

I'm a floater. Haha. Gotta go faster now.
I'm just getting into shape again and found that I love to swim breaststroke. This video helped me so much (especially the vertical elbow and wide kick). The stuff I've learned makes me enjoy swimming breaststroke even more. Thanks for the coaching.
I think that's my problem too. I was a lifeguartips d when I was in highschool. I'm now 35 and a mom of 5. I'm not sure if I can do this 300 anymore. I really want a lifeguard job again. I'm going to go practice with these
Tips tonight. My pretest is tommow. I think these tips will help. Thanks for sharing!
Wow, this is very useful. I think my childhood lessons must have been good because I do some of these things already, I'm here to check I haven't picked up bad habits since getting back in the pool after a few years out and I'm happy with my timing and arms. I'm sure I was taught a wider kick, but looking forward to trying it with this technique in mind! Thanks.
Glad it was helpful, Susan! Keep up the great work and happy swimming :)
Your channel is my fave swimming coaching channel on RUclips! Would love to hear you teach water treading/egg beater/etc in deep water. Also what a swimmer does if say they choke on water in the deep end while breathing during a stroke. I have learnt swimming in the past 2-3 months and my freestyle (thanks to you!) is quite stable and I can do quite a few laps in the shallow end. But once in a while I choke while taking a breath in from my mouth, so how does a swimmer recover in such moments in the deep end? Anyway thanks for your amazing content. ♥️♥️♥️
Excellent information - thank you!!!
Glad it was helpful! Happy swimming!
Thanks this really helps me !!! Getting back into swimming. Really needed theee reminder
You're so welcome! Good luck and happy swimming :)
