Even as an Australian, this was my highlight from the pool in Tokyo. Just to see Lily King get beaten was great - but Schoenmaker had chased that WR in the heat and the semi-final, and she was absolutely spent at the end. She didn't even have the energy to turn around and look at the board. And then her reaction when she saw she had finally tracked down that world record. Beautiful result. I love Lazor's reaction to the WR as well.
Penny Heyns, Natalie Du Toit, Roland Schoeman, Cameron Van Den Burgh, Chad Le Clos, and now Tatjana Schoenmaker. South Africa always manages to churn out at least one champion swimmer every Olympiad. This was one of the few non-Team GB golds that had me in raptures!
Their muscles are amazing, firm but not too 'bulky.' I don't usually watch swimming competitions. Does anyone know what their workout routines are? Will swimming alone give you muscles like that? Thanks (:
Same!! But I feel like since chikunova touches the pad with the palm of her hands while lazor touches it with her fingertips so maybe lazor got her fingertips in there faster than chikunova? But nevertheless it was a very close touch. So fun to watch

Yefimova has been caught doping twice... To be more specific, she tested positive for some sort of steroids. Taking steroids has permanent, life lasting, impact on the bodies of athletes, giving them a life long advantage when compared to natural athletes (just look at some retired, now natural bodybuilders to understand what I mean). IMO testing positive for something like that should either result in a life-long ban from the sport, or the sport should just allow them. The current system is terrible and Lilly King speaking up about this is entirely justified.
