    These simple mods do make a difference, I did something similar on mine,though the shocks I used were a lot closer to the originals in length.

      The hop up ones are exactly the same length. I just used these as they were spare and to hand. It's still a touch stiff, though, but better than stock!

    "Violent" as it crawls peacefully through the woods to soft music.. 😁 I totally get the elation from a free mod. It's like finding a lost puzzle piece! Nice!

      🤣 I love the random "action" words they splatter the bodywork with. I'm sure half the time the meaning isnt understood. They just like the shape of the words! Yes, and you can't beat a free mod!! 👍😀

      It worked a treat. There's plenty of links available as spares in the uk. I'm not sure how much the postage would be, though?

    I've seen people use fuel tube to limit suspension travel you have to place it on the shaft below the piston.

    Good job. Some good mods worth doing. I've heard the electronics are a little eager! 👍

  • @shadyhazza
    @shadyhazza Год назад +1

    you could stick a bit of vinyl tube as spacer inside the shock body to reduce the travel - it'll make the uncompressed length shorter, but yeah you wanted more travel :)

      Don't know if I want to try softer springs?

      @@theminiatureconstructionco4556 with your longer rods that could be a way to tune them the way you like. if you shorten the travel, you'll also be increasing preload, so again going the wrong way for what you want

    Brilliant video and many thanks.
    I think I may have got one of the last ones available on eBay. Suspect the seller was using "multiple identities", as all the "apparent stock" from several vendors disappeared immediately after my purchase. It's a pretty common practice I gather on eBay.
    Couldn't negotiate a discount so gave up and paid the full price. At £50 still a superb bargain.
    Mods above completed (I used some old Wltoys 144001 oil shocks, which add more suspension travel, and the drive train seems fine). Going to try out the truck tomorrow.
    I'm intrigued to see how you might improve the electronics and which servo/esc combo to go for. The Hobbywing 1060 possibly?? The servo is more tricky due to it's size. It would be good to go fully waterproof with increased torque...... any thoughts?

      I was thinking Hobbywing myself, will have to see. I tried to buy another couple at £45, but it was like pulling teeth communicating with the vendor!! If they didn't want to accept 45 for them, then why accept my initial offer? Then, subsequently turn down the same offer? Unless someone dropped the ball? Anyway, the FJ one is next, hahaha. See if we can't get a bargain there!?! But electronics definitely at some point. 👍

    Great video. Thanks for the tips! I got my son the white "Toyota" version for Christmas. Very capable for the money.
    Have you had any issues with it cutting out or losing connection to the transmitter on the stock electronics? My son's behaves like it's giving a lipo low voltage warning cut out but it does it on both Li-ion and Li-po.

      Hello Streethawk! Loved that show when I was a kid!! I personally haven't experienced that. But I have when using both battery chemistry's when one type is supplied with the RC. Does it do it from the off?

    • @STREETH4WK
      @STREETH4WK 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@theminiatureconstructionco4556 Ha! Yeah I loved it too. Great, yet awful show.
      The issue varies. Sometimes it'll run for 30 minutes and then start doing it and sometimes it'll do it as soon as I start running. I'm wondering if it's the battery connector. Two of the batteries I use from other cars have a JST connector (1 Lipo and 1 Li-ion) so I use a JST to Deans adapter. All the connections are fine but maybe the JST plug is limiting the power somehow? I'll need to test with the original battery with a deans plug I guess to be sure.

      @STREETH4WK yes if its intermittent, it may be a connection issue. Ditch the adapter and solder some deans plugs on. And rule that out first. 👍

    What length are those shocks and what length are the front tie rods you used on this please
