    What a comprehensive upgrade job! Now it's the equivalent of an MN Models KM.
    You did a great job of narrating the video, too, explaining clearly what you did, and why.
    I did find my myself wondering whether your clever use of shrink-wrap to secure the plastic leaves to the steel one might have stiffened up the rear suspension.
    I'm glad you have continued the old tradition of putting WPL wheels and grippy soft kit tyres on MNs : )

    • @hollyhillrc
      @hollyhillrc  2 месяца назад +1

      Hi Del. Thank you very much for your kind words my friend. That's a very good point about the leaf springs and heat shrink. I did it because I didn't like the way they looked so unrealistic out of the box, but now you mention it they could be stiffer as a result of the change.

    • @Del350K4
      @Del350K4 2 месяца назад +1

      @hollyhillrc ... but if they are and you like it as it is, then what you did was to cleverly find a scale-realistic way to solve a problem : )

    Hi Derek, the good thing about doing all the upgrades on this truck is that it adds some weight to it to keep it nicely planted on the ground during your crawling sessions.
    As always, an educational tutorial video from your good self 👍

      Hi. To be honest I didn't run it before I upgraded it. I got nearly all the upgrades and the MN82 in a spring sale from Ali Ex' earlier this year and the total I've spent so far for it all, including shipping and tax, is just over £54. So from that point of view I'm very happy with it.

    Be very careful with blue thread locker near plastic parts, I had destroyed 2 servos shell that way, it cracks the plastic, I reshelled my Surpass with the stock servo shells and that also cracked, better use a plastic safe CA based thread locker

    • @hollyhillrc
      @hollyhillrc  7 месяцев назад

      Hi. Thanks for watching. I only use threadlock on bolts that screw into metal parts 👍🏼

    • @daijoubu4529
      @daijoubu4529 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@hollyhillrc yeah just the fumes alone can crack the plastic nearby, I made sure to just apply sparingly on the screw and the metal servo mount, still cracked the plastic

    • @hollyhillrc
      @hollyhillrc  7 месяцев назад

      I don't put blue threadlock on the bolt if it has to pass through plastic. I put a very tiny drop on a sewing needle and smear it inside the threaded hole of the metal part the bolt screws into. I make sure there's enough threadlock to cover the bolt threads when that's screwed in, but not too much so it squeezes back out and comes in contact with any plastic parts. So far this has worked for me 👍🏼

    7:24 interesting, on my axles, the outer bearings race are bigger and the bearings too small and not making contact, just floating lol, looks like they are correct in yours? There's more "meat" to the body, I wonder if they are made by different manufacturers...
    Edit: ok its the front axle, not the rear that exhibit this issue, I wrapped some solid core copper around the bearings as spacers

    this video has made me decide on buying this as my first ever RC, also i'm curious as to how long these things last? in runtime hours, do the motors fail first or do the drive shafts/axles etc fail first? are they really expensive to keep running or do they last months on end without any issues besides maybe the battery

    • @hollyhillrc
      @hollyhillrc  2 месяца назад

      I've only run mine a few times so I can't answer your questions, but the stock plastic parts and the metal upgrades are very cheap to buy if you ever need replacements.

    Hi there, I want to replace the wheels on mine with some bead locks but I feel like the axels won’t work with most wheels, any advice on this, do I need an adapter?

    • @hollyhillrc
      @hollyhillrc  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hi. Thank you very much for watching my video. You would need a set of 5mm to 7mm hex wheel hub adapters to use metal bead lock wheels (Injora's for example). Take off the MN wheels and slide the hex adaptors onto the axle where the MN wheels were. Then you can fit the metal bead lock wheels over them and screw them on. I hope this helps 🙂👍🏼👍🏼

      Hi. Thank you for watching my video. The axles came with a little grease but I did put a bit more on the diff gears before I installed them on the MN82. This is a link to my video which shows this ruclips.net/video/At3xmAcosO0/видео.html I've been using a long life salt and fresh water resistant marine grease which I bought from a boat chandlery years ago, but most brands of marine grease online are the same. It's thicker than the usual "RC grease" but it works well and I've had no problems with mine all the years I've been using it.
