Sorry, this one is discontinued by rgt, being nearly 5 years old. It runs the old Gen 7 clone axles, which are notorious for snapping in the cvd joint. It uses Philips head screws throughout, has straight links and a basic design. The 2.2 tires would help cover up some of the design's shortcomings, but overall you'll want to be getting it at a steep discount for it to be worth buying. Congratulations on the video! Just a question: this shift between speed 1 and 2 requested through the button on the controller, how is it done in the pickup truck? Is there a second servo (besides the steering one) that performs this speed change inside the differential? Thanks in advance... 😉👍🏻
Thank you. No, the speed change simply limits the maximum throttle signal to 50% on the slow speed, and 100% on the faster speed. It's a way to get more control on difficult terrain, but the problem with it is you're not getting the full voltage to the motor that lower gearing would afford, so it's not an ideal solution. A two speed gearbox would be better but would cost more, so here we are!
@@RCTNT Thank you very much! So, if the stock electronics are replaced in the future with a Futaba system and GT2 receiver (for example), and a new 20A brushed ESC, will the maximum acceleration provided by the new controller and ESC automatically be equal to speed 2 (the fastest) of the stock electronics?
It's tough enough for the stock rig, sure. But start adding power and you'll find its limits. Though the axles will break first, I think. Be cautious with power upgrades until you have metal axles and gears throughout.
Thanks for the awesome video, I had someone print a canopy for me. Could you please clarify the size of screws/bolts to fix it to the bed? And also the tire to the back? Mahalo all the way from Hawaii!
@@RCTNT hello, I had a friend of a friend try to print the canopy twice, he’s running into issues, while it prints it gets stringy? Is there a certain format he needs to input? Sorry, I know nothing about 3d printing
If he's printing with PETG (which famously strings if your settings are off), try PLA. Or, try dehumidifing the PETG for 12 hours before printing. PETG tends to absorb moisture so if the spool has been sitting open to air, you'll get rubbish results on even the best printers. Pla or pla+ for the win.
@@RCTNT thanks again brother, I had two printed, one black and one tan one for both my trucks, not sure how to post pics on here. I had another question. Today my remote control started working backwards, normal forward is reverse and right is now left. Anyway to fix?
I reckon the motor used in this truck is not waterproof. It's 280 series and as far as I can remember from other disassembly videos and google searches, this is a quite simple motor with vent holes. Therefore, I'm wondering if it is a good idea to drive this thing in any wet conditions? What's your take on that?
Motors are fine in water. Mud kills them and salt water is a no go for RC in general, with some few exceptions. The pcb wants waterproofing, and you want to check the servo is waterproof rated in any car, but brushed motors? Water all day, or if muddy, run water through them from the tap while applying throttle. Helps clean em out! A bit of light machine oil on the shaft after drying isn't a bad idea though.
@@ruslank4028 honestly, it depends on how hard you drive it. Heat does them in, so if you've run in mud, run water through the rotating motor and give it a drop of light machine oil before you put it away. Do that each time and it may surprise you how long the motor lasts.
I just picked one up on AliExpress for 35usd, figured if it's bad, it's so cheap it doesn't matter. Ordered a 370 motor and adapter, and some 68mm 1.3" wheels and tires. Should be an alright trail truck, not expecting anything crazy. I also have an MB100 ESC that can handle 370 size motor I may try out.
You are going to make me buy a 3D printer with all the awesome free files! I got a UTB18 on order with the $149 Amain deal... may need to print your chassis for that eventually. Thanks!
17g is a measure of the servo's strength. A weak servo in this size is 4-9g. A strong one might be 30-50g. 17g is adequate for the job, but not up to the heavier work it might face with better, grippier tires and the increased rock crawling ability that may bring. Waterproof generally suggests o-rings around the screws and spline, a rubber gasket around the servo case seals, maybe dielectric grease under the spine as well (though not in a cheapie like this), etc etc
Wanting to get into the hobby and i would like to start with something around this price (about 70 usd) would this be the best starting place or is there another I could get that is a bit more capable?
Well, for this money your options are limited. The wpl c44km kit is more capable than this, but the suspension is worse and needs work. I actually took this out for a little drive again yesterday and the only thing I'd change (and probably will) is to add a 2-speed transmission of some kind, as it could use more torque at low speed, but I'd like to keep its 'walkable' speed too. Otherwise, you might consider watching FB marketplace and similar for a used 1/10 crawler. People let older stuff go for this kind of money sometimes and nearly any 1/10 crawler will be more capable that these options here!
I have that same truck now I wanna make it look like yours lol it looks so much better with that camper box n new tires look amazing I would love to have one that camper box can you make me one n I’ll love you for ever 😊
Haha thanks, I'm glad you like it. Post on your local FB group. At this price? Not really, unless you look at used cars on FB marketplace and find a genuine seller of something for cheap. I guess you could also consider the wpl 44km if you can find one. They're similar. Otherwise, no. This is the one to get if buying new and on a tight budget.
@@RCTNT ya i was wondering because Hobby grades are too expensive in my country like even cheap like Mn 82 starts at 9-10k so have to consider a lot before starting But i guess Mn 82 is still the best option for the price

Lovely review and mods! Truck looks sweet! 👌 (eventhoug 3D printing is getting more accessible, common and easier to use, I don't think one can consider all the 3D printed parts as "0$" upgrades. 😉 I have no computer or 3D printer (would be a couple hundred €€ investment) so I'd have to get them print for me, and that ain't free... 😅 sadly. It totally should. Considering the possibilities it opens in this hobby, I think I may invest in it one day.) Why the advice against the upgrades mentioned on the box? Great RUclips and website content, keep it up! 👍🙏💪 (Looove your accent and slow, calm way of talking! 😅)
You're right about not being free, that's fair. There's about $2 in filament in the printed parts. My printers are usually running but yes, equipment cost is a thing too. I recommended against the metal bits because if you're seeking performance, this is a difficult model to start with. There are better choices. However, it's a hobby and really, there are no wrong answers, so go ahead if you like them!
This is not the case. Indeed they offered to pay me for this review as well as letting me keep the car. I declined payment because I wish to retain impartiality as much as possible. My condition for these reviews is that I'll be honest and that I'll share all my observations, good and bad. BG have always been good about this.
I've never understood why companies can't grasp the fact that you don't have to spend more money to pick the right items for the vehicle. Like springs.. tires. How many leafs. It's not rock science..
Sucks hard? You mean you like the overhaul and now you want to keep this car that you bought to give to someone? Lol the files will still be available, you can get one for yourself in a few months or whenever. Though it's really mainly about the look, she doesn't drive terrifically well - but it does look good!
@@polishguywithhardtospellna8227 for what it's worth, the main filament used by 3D printers is PLA, which is short for Poly Lactic Acid. It's made from corn and is fully biodegradable.
So if I adopt your attitude and instead simply not release anything printable for free, I don't think that would make you happier. You don't need to have a 3d printer to get these files - you can ask in a local FB group for someone to print them for you. Many libraries in many countries run a 3d printer for public use, and some areas have friendly maker spaces too. Posting online even on a place like fiverr will get someone printing it for you inexpensively, I'd expect. You have options. I'm not sure how criticising the guy who is releasing the free upgrades will help you.
You can print for dirt cheap on JLC, $1.5 shipping under 300grams, I get my parts in 10 days in North America, its amazing, quality is also miles better with SLS/MJF compared to FDM printing

The value is there, IMO. Great looking car, even if it doesn't perform particularly well. I do have a few tamiya videos already. There's an RC truck build here too that I really need to finish, but it's a TT 01 rather than one of their scale highway models. Lastly, that huina comment is seemingly quite random. It's tough enough for the stock rig, sure. But start adding power and you'll find its limits. Though the axles will break first, I think. Be cautious with power upgrades until you have metal axles and gears throughout.
You can buy a full light kit now for the MN82
Good to know, thanks
Could you please post a link?

Thanks for the awesome video, I had someone print a canopy for me. Could you please clarify the size of screws/bolts to fix it to the bed? And also the tire to the back? Mahalo all the way from Hawaii!
Everything you need to know is in the Read Me file in the download, and also on the page on my website 👍
@@RCTNT thanks brother, hopefully can figure this out, I’ll post some pics, I think I’m gonna do this for both my trucks
@@RCTNT That's what I'm talking about. Brushes in these motors would wear out quickly after a regular mudbath )))
Motor change is a good idea, yes. Nice one
Even stock electronic can handle 370
18:28 Yay! The "rock mod"
😎
You are going to make me buy a 3D printer with all the awesome free files!
I got a UTB18 on order with the $149 Amain deal... may need to print your chassis for that eventually. Thanks!
Worth it, IMO. The performance difference is significant!
Hi if you get the car dirty how do you clean it because I’ve had trubble cleaning mine since it’s not waterproof
Wipe the body down with a damp cloth, that won't hurt it. For the undercarriage, links and axles, an old toothbrush is really handy.
@@RCTNTMn 82 comes with the 17g Waterproof servo something like that what does that exactly mean as i am clueless about it ?
17g is a measure of the servo's strength. A weak servo in this size is 4-9g. A strong one might be 30-50g. 17g is adequate for the job, but not up to the heavier work it might face with better, grippier tires and the increased rock crawling ability that may bring.
Waterproof generally suggests o-rings around the screws and spline, a rubber gasket around the servo case seals, maybe dielectric grease under the spine as well (though not in a cheapie like this), etc etc
@@RCTNT okay thanks for the information
what brand are the rims? Do you use an adapter?
Yes, I made an adapter. It's all in the description and on the download page. Injora wheels.
oh the back of that truck could fit a vegimite sanwich, then all it would need would be a sound board with V8 toyota growels!
lol noice
People let older stuff go for this kind of money sometimes and nearly any 1/10 crawler will be more capable that these options here!
can you throw links to the details of the improvement?
Everything is in the description
@@RCTNT Thanks, I get it. 😉
You are going to need a smaller scaled down course soon
Haha yes, I guess so!

I have that same truck now I wanna make it look like yours lol it looks so much better with that camper box n new tires look amazing I would love to have one that camper box can you make me one n I’ll love you for ever 😊
Haha thanks, I'm glad you like it. Post on your local FB group. I've designed and published the file at no cost, so if you ask your local group of hobbyists I'm sure you'll find someone happy to help you out. Is there any other better starter hobby rc at Mn82 Price?
At this price? Not really, unless you look at used cars on FB marketplace and find a genuine seller of something for cheap.
I guess you could also consider the wpl 44km if you can find one. They're similar.
Otherwise, no. This is the one to get if buying new and on a tight budget.
@@RCTNT ya i was wondering because Hobby grades are too expensive in my country like even cheap like Mn 82 starts at 9-10k so have to consider a lot before starting
But i guess Mn 82 is still the best option for the price
@@e-prts1828 I think I agree in general, if you're buying new. Is there any kind of used market where you are? Good deals can be had there, especially if you have motivated sellers.
@@RCTNT sadly can't say that as it will be Super hard to even find New hobby grades here as it's already rare on the Market
@e-prts1828 ah I see, I'm sorry. Where in the world are you?
Looks closer to a 1/18 scale to me
That'd be about right, I reckon
1/14 scale
I just ordered this one for 30 dollars🤣 im gonna do 370 motor, portal axles ,shocks and wheels bummed about the plastic chassis but for the price can't complain
For 30 bucks? Lol yes, the value is there! Have fun with it!
You can buy an alloy chassis but it cost as much as the truck itself hahahaha, tbh the flex is desirable? lol
haha looks sick

🤠
As always I’ve seen worse & way better but price would be a big factor but personally I wouldn’t buy it maybe as a gift you’ve got it looking a lot better but the esc noise was killing me.😂
It can be dealt with, but it comes with a budget rig.
I went with brushless and an AM32 ESC, it's silent/EVesq haha
Lovely review and mods! Truck looks sweet! 👌
(eventhoug 3D printing is getting more accessible, common and easier to use, I don't think one can consider all the 3D printed parts as "0$" upgrades. 😉 I have no computer or 3D printer (would be a couple hundred €€ investment) so I'd have to get them print for me, and that ain't free... 😅 sadly. It totally should. Considering the possibilities it opens in this hobby, I think I may invest in it one day.)
Why the advice against the upgrades mentioned on the box?
Great RUclips and website content, keep it up! 👍🙏💪
(Looove your accent and slow, calm way of talking!
Why do people when they show these trucks they make them crawl over these big ass boulders..????
Is that rhetorical or do you need an answer?
I'm just having fun with mine.
Did you knkw that being a product showing. You have to gibe the item back to the company 😂
This is not the case. Indeed they offered to pay me for this review as well as letting me keep the car. I declined payment because I wish to retain impartiality as much as possible. My condition for these reviews is that I'll be honest and that I'll share all my observations, good and bad. BG have always been good about this.
apples
Got apples?
I've never understood why companies can't grasp the fact that you don't have to spend more money to pick the right items for the vehicle.
Like springs.. tires. How many leafs.
It's not rock science..
Well it kinda is rock science, lol. But yes, good point. A little critical thinking goes a long way.
This sucks hard and i dont want to gift it, which is what i bought it for 😞
Sucks hard? You mean you like the overhaul and now you want to keep this car that you bought to give to someone? Lol the files will still be available, you can get one for yourself in a few months or whenever. Though it's really mainly about the look, she doesn't drive terrifically well - but it does look good!
@@RCTNT Noooo, I've got rgt for myself, wouldnt buy this ever knowing what you told us. And i hate 3d printers for all the plastic waste they create
@@polishguywithhardtospellna8227 for what it's worth, the main filament used by 3D printers is PLA, which is short for Poly Lactic Acid. It's made from corn and is fully biodegradable.
I know someone who bought it for his kid so he can leave his Axxial alone but ended up keeping it for himself because it's so much fun modding it.
Like we all have a 3d printer
@@RCTNT yeah they also have the in librairies and maker spaces but I just send them to China, Nylon prints are solid and dirt cheap
Oh really? Nice, thanks for the info. I'll give them a try.

😂😂😂 i dont thonk bangood was expecting this about there crap car. 😂😂😂 Very true. Australian r.c . How about doing some R.C trucks tamiya . Never purchase huina r.c toys
They were expecting this. It's the 4th car they've sent me and I'm honest every time. They'll sell cars from this video for sure - and I'm giving away my design for folks to print.
I like their 1580 but not the dinky little bulldozer. I have videos for each of these. Cheers
@@RCTNT Isn't the MN82 one of the better/best performing stock MN/WPL? Maybe except for the new C64 release
Stovk is better lol
If it makes you happy, you're doing it right.
So basically, it's a turd, no wonder it's $36 now.
Well yeah, I think it's always been about the pretty body and the potential for scale!
bros review was negative about something he got for free
Bros review was honest about something he did work in exchange for keeping. Bro also declined the money offered by the company to make a positive review. Bro then worked hard to deliver value on the scale element of the model and to improve its performance, and then bro shared that work with you for free.
@@RCTNT erm
If you want a channel that gives only positive reviews for cars sent to them, you've got plenty of other choice!
