    Hi JC, to some replicas of this iconic model, but this Walther P38 from Umarex is the most real, with quality for the collection, little heavy trigger pull, but still with good performance for CO2 BB pistol. good job, all the best. cheers

      The trigger is the only down fall, but I have to say it is predictable and very manageable. Over-all it is a fun little pistol 😉

      One of my first replica airguns. Good points . Good fps , accurate. Mine has stopped locking the slide back on last shot, and started leaking co2, this pistol deserves some upgrades. First a co2 containing magTrue Da/Sa trigger with decocker safety.Last. Replacement shorter Man From Uncle style barrel

    Ha, this video is a few weeks too late to save me from making the mistake of removing the slide, which I did right after I received it. Took me a few frustrating hours to figure out how to put that tiny spring back in place. It’s a very distinctive design, makes for a cool replica.

    Hi John, awesome video! The Walther P38 is an iconic firearm. It just so happens that it is my personal choice for a EDC in RL. In addition it is one of 2 side-arms that I own.
    Umarex has done a awesome job in the replica that they manufacture. I think it is interesting to note that Crosman also had a replica of this firearm. It was a Crosman C41 (CO2 BB pistol without blowback). I don't know if they are still available but I still have one of these. I think that the version that you displayed was much more accurate, but my son use to enjoy plinking with it, and maybe someday my grandchildren will as well.
    As always, thanks for sharing, stay healthy and safe, and God Bless, Greg
    PS - I still prefer long arms over short arms😁

      I've owned one of those old Crosman non-blowback ones since the late 80s or early 90s. Memory's a bit foggy, but it was right around there. I still have it! All black and all metal aside from the grips. Haven't shot it in 30 years or so, lol. It's probably non-functional, but I'll never get rid of it. Sentimental value for sure.

    I just bought the Sig P 226 you reviewed and it was less than $20 for a 2 pack of mags. . I love it. I was torn between that and the Beretta PX4 storm. They both do about the same over the Chrony. What I really liked was, , the PX4 has a slide that will lock back and you have a real ejection port. However, it's a pain in the ass to change the CO2, which is what sold me on the Sig. So far I fired The premier pointed 7.4 grain, the winchester hollow points and the 9.6 grain Gamo rockets. I want to try the fast flights next. I was shooting at 10 meters, standing up with open sites. The accuracy is amazing, but I am going to add a laser. Like you, I strain my eyes at only 10 meters.

    I did the same thing when I first got mine. Now I know how to replace that spring real fast. I got the little spring and plunger from bagnal and kirkwood and the found a guy who makes a slightly stronger spring from eBay. The spring secret is easy, you line up a hole on the frame and slide then screw the spring in like a big floppy screw.

    Lovely collectors pistol, but over here in the UK it retails for around $205, so it makes it a little more expensive to start or add to a collection. Maybe after I get my S&W M29...

  • @TheHeat55

    Great job again JC. The gun looks solid and not expensive for a blow-back. But non-adjustable sights are a pet peeve of mine. Couldn't the manufacturers just make the rear sight adjustable ? How much would it cost ?. On this one obviously you could compensate and hit your target. Since your grouping was excellent, you proved that this gun shoots high and left. You shouldn't have to compensate though. On models with rails, you can add a sight. But I've had a few pistols that were so off, crooked in their design, that shot 3" left and 6" high at 25 feet. I don't know, I say increase the prices on guns by $ 2.00 if you must, but make sure they can be zeroed. Thank's for reading my rant JC, love your videos :-)

    • @AirgunDetectives
      @AirgunDetectives  3 года назад

      I couldn't agree more, I think they should all have adjustable sights. They try to make it authentic, as the genuine did not have adjustable sights. But still, I'm with you...👍

      As far as the 1911's go, yes. Now keep in mind that is a KWC made gun and the identical foundation is used in the Colt, Sig "We the People", Springfield Mil-Spec, and there are several more. The magazines are interchangeable. the only real difference is the style of the slide, the grips, the trigger and the sights. So the cosmetics are the only difference. I am going to start a 1911 series and feature a different 1911 style Co2 every month along with my regular review videos. I hope to start that in January.

    10 lb trigger pull and you're saying it's good when I've seen you modify guns Just when they were at 3 lb. As you were filming I was watching you pull the trigger and it look like it had a long long pull

    • @AirgunDetectives
      @AirgunDetectives  3 года назад

      As I showed at the end of my review my 2nd P38 had a 7 lb trigger. Again this is not a target pistol it's a replica Co2 pistol that is designed to have fun. When you are actually shooting it is very manageable. I think the 10 lb trigger is now around 8 lbs. It loosened up after I shot it for awhile. I did the trigger test on my newest model right out of the box. But yes, my negative on the model was the trigger. Thanks for tuning in 😉

    The older box looks more authentic. I've never liked the P38, I think it's an ugly strange looking gun. I have the Umarex P08 'black widow' Luger, much nicer pistol big fan of Lugers. Co2 is stored in the full size drop out mag rather than a stick mag plus brilliant kick from the blowback, lovely to hold with the sloped grip and I love the toggle action. Grips look really cheap over the Luger aswel JC.

    • @AirgunDetectives
      @AirgunDetectives  3 года назад +1

      Yes, but the P38 shoots over 100 fps higher and you get more shots per Co2. So there is room for both in any collection 😉👍

    Don't buy this. The last year I have had 2 Umarex P-38 pistols and both broke after less than 100 co2 capsules. I also had 2 Umarex Luger P-08, both off them broke also...It is some really bad quality metal. If you shoot them a lot, something WILL break. In 1 year I have broke 4 Umarex pistols. I have not used them in a wrong way, it's just bad quality. In all pistols the metal have broken in different places. I still have the warranty, but I will not get a new one, because it will also break. Piece off junk. They use bad quality pot-metal instead off real steel just to save a few bucks. If they was made off real metal they would not break.
    It's a shame that the metal quality is so bad. This is some really nice pistols, but they break if you use them...

    • @WhattAreYouSaying
      @WhattAreYouSaying 2 года назад +1

      @@TheKawasakiTriple Sorry, but don't have too high expectations. If it broke two times, it will break a 3rd time. It will break if you shoot it a lot, the critical parts are made off bad quality pot-metal or plastic. I don't think it will last more than 1000 shots. Lots of people have the same problem with Umarex pistols, I have read many reviews online and people say that the pistols don't last long because off the low quality materials.
