I used to cry every time this song came on in the movie. As a huge animal lover, Oliver being unwanted without a home just really saddened me. Loved the movie and this song though! :D
Never have I ever heard a song where the lead singer is directly talking to me like he knows the very backdrop of my life.. yesterday I got fired from a job because the owner presumed I was not intelligent enough to wait tables as I was autistic.. never even got to do job.. fired within my first 5 minutes... sighs..
I used to sing this on the bus everyday on kindergarten/first grade. Probably drove the bus driver crazy. xD Now this song makes me cry... even though it did back then too sometimes. Keep your dream alive!
This song makes me tear up too..I'm 26 so this was my childhood too, a kid growing up in the city of Miami with my family..Its even more sentimental for me now, because I have a daughter who I love dearly that I'm away from for now because of business like Penny's dad, and a cat that I love also. Salues to New York City, this is such a beautiful song.
Fun fact, this was the first Disney movie to involve longer scenes assisted with a computer to help with the animations. They did the three animations, put everything in a flattened layer and cell painted the scenes. That's why you get some cool 3D rotations like the oldsmobile scene, the dog walking down the stairs in the musical number, and the cars in the NY scenes. The first computer generated film was The Black Couldron, followed by Great Mouse Detective. They use a system called CAPS which helped with the line drawings, then later started working with digital color.
+groov dafied black cauldron was scary for me when i was a kid, and now i've totally forgot how that cartoon looks like... and tnx for the info... also 3D was used i think on the truck wheel where oliver was sleeping
this song always make me cry when i watch it in beging of the movie i love this movie when i was a kid i use to grow up on this movie and also mary poppins
This song brings back childhood memories from that one movie all of her and company. I love that movie Grown Up. That movie has a message on serving others regardless of your differences the dogs protect the cat and they learn to serve one another
+ryan longthorne This is a level of soulfulness Lewis doesn't go for in most of his music. If you know of any of his other pieces that are this soulful please point me in their direction because this is fantastic.
Today is the 26th anniversary of Oliver and Company of when it came to movie theaters, which may have competed with The Land Before Time at the box office.
+Shira Schweitzer It did, the Nostalgia Critic even talked about how as a kid he had wanted to go see 'Oliver & Company' but it was sold out so his parents took him to 'Land Before Time' instead, F*** Land Before Time! This movie is miles better!
+Shira Schweitzer It's not that I HATE Land Before Time but for me it's just kinda mediocre. The animation style is nice (It's Don Bluth for crying out loud of course it is) but the plot is your typical group of kids in animated movie go on quest plot with nothing very special. I can appreciate 'Land Before Time' for what it tries to do (There aren't nearly enough Dinosaur movies) but for me there are lots and lots of much better animated movies out there (These are my favourites: www.imdb.com/list/ls076231873/ ). Oliver & Company isn't one of my favourites either but with it's realistic style, peculiar premise (oliver twist in new york with dogs) and great music it stands out enough to be ownable. I know there are people who really like 'Land Before Time' but it just doesn't do that much for me.
It’s a shame that it isn’t on Spotify or iTunes…I’ve adored this movie and the soundtrack since I was 5 yrs old, im now 24 and still love it as if it were my first time seeing the movie

Disney Guardian the best movie to come out in 1988 since Rain Man, Die Hard and The Last Temptation of Christ
this song saved my humanity
I remember being a 8 year old kid when this came out and even now the opening makes me tear up. Huey Lewis will always be a icon of a great decade

Why are you not a big fan of the movie, Crom?
+Shira Schweitzer Which one? 'Land Before Time'?
Yes.
+Shira Schweitzer It's not that I HATE Land Before Time but for me it's just kinda mediocre. 2019??
*HUG*
seems like a Kevin Hart thing xD EVERYBODY GO NIGHT NIGHT
i recently found out that this and the lion king are based of works of shakespear and charles dickens
Yes, Oliver and Company was Based on "Oliver" by Charles Dickens
and if you think about it carfully the lion king is based off of "Hamlet"
Adam Perrine
And Lion King 2 is kinda like Romeo and Juliet. XD
+CaptkitttyKat Kind of? They aren't even subtle about it.
Man, what genre of music is this? The synths are just soooo goood
+Xela It's Randy Numan music, it's its own genre.
It was performed by a group called Huey Lewis and the News, you may know them as they did the soundtrack for Back to the Future!
I just met him actually. He was at a con I went to. He's a professor at a college now.
+Tkscz I don't think it was randy Newman was it ??
No it isn't, I was wrong. It was Huey Lewis.
