It's amazing how well this song captures that feeling of being a teenager who just wants to be noticed (mainly by the person you like). I'm in my mid thirties and yet this song still manages to stir up those strong feelings from my youth.
My senior prom happened 12 years after this movie originally came out, and our group played the soundtrack in our limo on our way back home. You know this film is a masterpiece when all of us who were kids in grade school still keep coming back to it after all of this time.
@RikuIsKing You don't want another one. These are late 90's/20's gems. If you get a 3rd, it's in an entirely different climate and political tone. It won't be what you remember man.
Honestly.....Disney should have done way more with Tevin Campbell. I would pay good money to go to a Powerline concert and watch an animated dog sing and dance. Or at least let Tevin do more songs for the soundtrack. Make an album or something. These songs fueled my childhood!
When I was a kid, I was able to get on the cheerleading team by using this song and the dance steps from the movie for my try outs. This song holds lovely memories.
This show is fuckingly AWESOME, there are old-good-time good references everywhere! And btw, the vault in that chapter is a real one, it's in Norway and looks EXACTLY like it :)

I went to Disney land with my kids and they had the goofy movie on stage. All us adults were going absolutely crazy singing along to the top of our lungs while our kids looked at us wondering what all the fuss was about 😂 Kids now will never understand how important a goofy movie was. It made the 90s.
A movie that aged well, and a film that I grew up with and was literally my childhood, such an iconic storyline, characters, emotion and a top tier soundtrack by Tevin Cambell. Probably be a gritty reboot where Goofy is a cuckold and his mom is an abusive alcoholic and Max has ran away from home in the hopes of making it to a rap battle he wants to enter so he can make money to start his own life. Twist ending, his father did the same thing and they wind up battling each other in the final battle.
I am a 30 year old man, and I am not embarrassed to say that I still love to watch my old favorite Disney movies, and I still love the hell out of this song and listen to it whenever I can.
Several artists were inspired by Michael Jackson. I hear similar techniques in the music. However, I did notice that this wasn't his voice. Looked it up, turns out it's Tevin Campbell, who, by the way, is an exceptionally good pop/R&B artist. The first song I heard by Tevin when I was little was "Can We Talk?" and I instantly loved it and wanted to hear more. Was happy to know my mom had one of his greatest hits albums, which sadly did not include "Stand Out" or "Eye to Eye" but I was happy. I can relate to "Stand Out" very much. It's a fun song that makes me want to sing and dance! I
Brittney Waczovszky Prince wrote both songs for the film. Since Tevin preformed for him and recorded Round and Round when he was 13, Campbell was chosen to sing it.
nickr912 He was arrested in 1999 in an undercover sting in a Van Nuys Elementary School for trying to buy marijuana and for attempting to solicit sex from an Undercover Police officer posting as a Shemale Prostitute.
He wasn't marketed to be a pop star. They didn't make him versatile enough. Michael Jackson was actually supposed to sign Tevin Campbell at 12 years old, before Quincy Jones got to him. Why he agreed, I don't know.
Ever since I heard that science slumberparties line in the movie, not only did it give me some good laughs, it also made me curious as to what Bill Nye’s pajamas look like
I love all of these comments, bunch of us thirty-something year olds who have some serious nostalgia when listening to the songs from A Goofy Movie. I can watch this movie endlessly and it will never get old. Same goes for The Brave Little Toaster.
A customer walked in last night with a Powerline Live Tour concert t-shirt on, and I just about lost my s***t. It's been decades since I heard these songs, and I had to come back and relive the epic-ness of Powerline. It warmed my heart to realize I still knew nearly every word. 💕
Same thing happened to me except my stroll through memory lane was triggered by my sister showing my niece these classics! And your comment just reminded me of my Powerline shirt so thank you 😊
Goomba753 I think the aging their referring to is how well its received through various music ages. While the Maccrina is becoming dragged and generally a song that I dread come my mom hosts a disco party, this song still gets me fist bumping and even in the 21st century it's relatable. Not to mention the voice sounds as timeless as those it compares to (Michael Jackson and Prince) and should be considered a welcomed classic among the Disney soundtracks. Then again Disney is always famed for bringing these wonders to the table in many of their movies. Personally, I want to watch more obscure Disney movies to see if I can find more of these gems to listen to. ^^
I remember that goofy was the only dvd that worked so I used to watch that move 4 times a day as a kid, still never bored of it. I got a huge nostalgia listening to this song after all these years.
This song absolutely fucking BANGS even after ALL of this time. I am 36 and I STILL listen to this on the reg. In fact, listening it to it now off my created playlists! So this song is ALWAYS on hand.
I'm still so freakin' addicted to this song. It's just so good! I could be jammin' to this, day and night. In fact only a few days ago I was walking back home from a friend's place around 10 pm. I was listening to music and this came on. I was the only person outside and so I just started singing as I walked. I seem to be doing this quite a lot, just bursting out singing when no one's listening. If only I had the courage to do it more openly, in front of people. But I'm sure I'd have stage fright and I'd make a goof out of myself, so I just sing until my lungs give out when I'm alone.
To this day after all these years, I'm still waiting on Powerline's full album, even if its behind the scenes, or unheard songs, or early concept songs that were scraped by Tevin Campell as well Disney. Like even right now, before I commented here, as well as from time to time I still jam to this, even if the song is old now, and as time passes, its just pure nostaliga and one of the greatest ever Disney songs ever created. Like its timeless and ageless. One of the greatest Disney films of all time especially the Walt Disney Orignal logo & character like Goofy, if not the greatest, its truly legendary, and underrated. A movie that I grew up with, and was literally my childhood. A movie that to this day, whenever I re-watch it, I still get the same reactions when I first watched it, the heartfelt moments, the emotion, cheer, & much more. With such an incredible heartfelt story, with characters that literally just makes you laugh, cheer, heartfelt, and of course the incredible soundtracks of Tevin Campbell which is just so legendary as well as top tier, like the man literally deserves much more recognition, truly underrated alongside legendary. Like this movie never gets old & still lives up to a lot.Truly unforgettable, legendary, and the golden era of Disney films. Time literally passes by so fast, that you only realize it, when you look back. Literally, a classic, that gets old, but is always gold. With age, it only becomes better and better, its literally timeless.
Despite the movie being about a Father and Son learning the meaning of love and respect, it also glosses over the fact that their character development is predicated on the assumption that Max is a bad kid. In reality, Max would be a flipping legend at his school and wouldn't have felt compelled to lie to Roxanne. This song gave me goosebumps as a kid imagining pulling this stunt in real life, and like the person below me says, has no business slapping this hard.
i don't get how anyone can hate this song, it's so awesome, why don't people listen to this stuff? its not knocking out brain cells every second that its playing
There’s a point where it sounds like Tevin loses his breath for literally 2 seconds tops, but I like that they didn’t do another take. It gives the song a personal touch that’s Tevin. It’s not just some generic song. Probably the best Disney has ever done. Ballads and love songs are so overdone. I like that this is very different and current for 1995, there’s a tie-in to the movie with how Max is feeling as a teen guy in the 90s as well as his relationship with his dad. I wish I had a moment like the canyon scene with my dad. And they took risks. It made the movie and soundtrack distinctive and, well, stand out. It achieved everything it set out to do. And now it’s kind of an inside thing for 90s kids because few millennials seem to get it.
+gameandflogchannel 20 actually...and how does one discern sarcasm from a comment unless they add in a face or something to make the sarcasm more obvious? Why do you care? Why does pointing out it being sarcastic matter to you?
had to come back and hear it!! me and a girl broke out singing it at work the other day when a teenager said she hadn't heard of the goofy movie! Hands down one of my all time favorite songs in a Disney movie!!
solt solt I was born 2002 and I actively remember blockbuster and phone booths. I live an urban city and VHS was the main thing back then. I didn’t even know what a Blu-Ray was until like 2009 lol. And also same I remember seeing both the goofy movies playing multiple times a day during the original movie slot.
Hot Dog Close. They stated that Powerline has the popularity of Jackson, the clothing of Devo and the voice of Prince, so he's a mixture of all three all the while voiced by Tevin Campbell who has an amazing vocal range just like Prince does.
+Justin Flores Actually, Disney originally asked MJ to do the voice of Powerline, but he refused, so Tevin Campbell was brought in.Jackson prolly regretted saying now.
+Justin Flores agreed. but I remember when they were making this movie...it's actually Bobby brown not devo... devo wanted to be Bobby brown even when they were in new edition. but check out Bobby browns video Every little step... even PowerLine vocals were like Bobbys.
Luv, it was Tevin Campbell. If you think Michael and Tevin sound similar you should hear Tomorrow by Tevin when he was young. That song was produced by Quincy Jones... The same producer that Micheal worked with for years.
+Dominick Roselli No disney had originally asked Bobby Brown to do the voice and singing for Powerline. He was unable to do to drug related problems so they got Tevin Campbell instead
After seeing AoT abridged i just cant stop rewinding to the part when Eren and his 104th squad was like so fucking cool holy shiet, flying around the buildings, just really pumps you up
I miss Goofy Movie! It's only on at, like, five in the morning on some obscure channel I'm not even sure we have. If disney could get rid of some sitcoms, however...

When Max did this, I actually got serious chills watching it. Dude had some serious balls. A Goofy Movie is literally my favourite movie.

This song takes me back...Hello Nostalgia! THANK GOD FOR THE 90'S CARTOONS!
The only Disney song that actually sounds like a legit song
Well, this and I2I.
"leaning tower of chezza"
This scene always hits you with that nostalgia
90's the best decade.
I've seen this movie more times than I can count but I have ALWAYS loved this song. Is it bad I can't get enough of it?
Alix Human No, not at all.

If this is your music taste, think about the vibe of this and you become the most uplifting person in the room in any time and any place
With age, it only becomes better and better, its literally timeless.
oh the nostolgia it is all consuming! X3
Seirra Moon a bunch of teens reenacted this on a stage, complete with the principal about a year ago.
Yo Stacy! Talk To Me, Talk To Me, Talk To Me, Baby!
bahhh classic😂😂😂😂
omgggggg yesssssss
Thank you, Dante Basco.
Chedddar, owwww, Chedddar!!!!
That face she makes when he says that is legendary!
Dude, fundage bro.
Chedda!
Owwww!
Chedda Wizzy!
😂😂😂
Its the leaning tower of cheezuh hue hue *stuffs face*
Scrumptious!
"Guard this with your life dude..."
😂😂😂😂
"Little smoke edge awwoowowowo"
This film came out when I was 5 years old and I loved this song then and I still love it, I am 33 years old now.
I've heard better - but I agree, it isn't the worst out there.
It does use some clever rhymes though - more so than I've heard in most other music. They definitely deserve points for that.
Oh my god! So many good childhood memories of this...I miss it 🤗😂🤗😂
Who else watched it as a kid?
this song described my life in middle school and how well I STAND OUT!!!!!!!
Durell Baxter Ikr
Durell Baxter i always stand out in high school
Alex the wolf I didn't stand out so much in high school
This was stuck in my head all day at work. After a 14 hour day I'm exhausted...but I'm not going to bed until I play this at least 10 times 😩👌
This is the song i sing on the way to work to psych myself up
I2I is also very good
👍😎
This song was so underrated
I feel like A Goofy Movie in general is an underrated Disney movie
maggie mcgonell it was a disney chanell original i think so thats why
But it came out in theaters
There are people who call these songs unmemorable. Shame on them.
0:49 - 1:07 - "You know what, I agree with you Thomas. We have our training, our friends, and our passion that burns deep in our souls! LET'S GO!!!"
Gets your Leg Chomped by a Titan Mid Flight.

NOOOOOOOO! Talk about boring as hell! Summer is a time to be with friends. Gaming, hanging out, and having sweet sweet fun! WHOO!
It's sarcasm...
Let me guess, you're 10 years old?
+gameandflogchannel 20 actually...and how does one discern sarcasm from a comment unless they add in a face or something to make the sarcasm more obvious? Why do you care? Why does pointing out it being sarcastic matter to you?
Yo stacyyyyyy, talk to me talk to me talk to me babayyyy
Thank You. Thank God they had the good sense to put a piece of this history in DuckTales, cause kids today have no idea. Touché Disney
I can remember watching this scene for first time at like 11 years old and yeah feels.. still feels
had to come back and hear it!! me and a girl broke out singing it at work the other day when a teenager said she hadn't heard of the goofy movie! Hands down one of my all time favorite songs in a Disney movie!!
I'm 26, and listen to this song on repeat... 💜💜💜💜
Because people say this song is for kid's....
well its not
SHOUT OUT to all the 90s BABIES!!
Bluu Bandette technically you would have to be an 80s baby to have a the untimate childhood in the 90s
I Hear Ya Love, 90s Baby Right Here. So Let's Stand Out & Never Stop.
solt solt I was born 2002 and I actively remember blockbuster and phone booths. I live an urban city and VHS was the main thing back then. I didn’t even know what a Blu-Ray was until like 2009 lol. And also same I remember seeing both the goofy movies playing multiple times a day during the original movie slot.
1993...not the full experience, but I definitely got some of the 90s childhood

Bro when your young you have a 99% chance of dying... im 11 wnd i got it and it was just like a regular cold...
Bobby's laugh, when he dropped principal Mazur was so priceless.😆
“We’re Busted!”
Disney purposely made powerline a imitation of Michael Jackson, that's why he dances like him and has a similar voice
After seeing AoT abridged

I miss Goofy Movie! It's only on at, like, five in the morning on some obscure channel I'm not even sure we have. If disney could get rid of some sitcoms, however...
Nobody will miss those sitcoms
I don't even know why Disney even started with the sitcoms, but they are gradually overrunning the actual Disney-esque shows.
More like shitcoms, amirite?
It's like 2 bucks on Xbox movies.
You can buy it on iTunes for $10. It's $3 if you rent it.
After rediscovering this amazing song from my child hood and listening to it for the 15th time in a row. I realize music will never be this good again 😫.
when i was about 9, i legit thought that michael jackson sung this because tevins voice really has a soundalike compared to mjs, but this song gives me immediate chills, 4 sure.
"We have our training, our friends, and our passion that burns deep in our souls! Let's go!"
my repeat button is broken
i remember watching this movie so much i learned the songs and was a powerline fan lmao. now my daughter is 5 she would love this movie. i was born 86 best childhood memory was nothing but disney
I'm 30.. this song was on my kids playlist.. I'm rocking out to this. Great memories
Although I was born in the early 2000’s And have not been around when these legendary movies were out in happy my parents knew to show me these Disney Movies first before the ones we have today it’s so sad that I have to live with this type of generation
