I was disgusted when I saw this movie in an article of Disney’s worst films. I always saw this as one of their best and I grew up on this movie. Hands down one of the most underrated but so amazing idek what else to say, my childhood.

I just finished watching Oliver and Company for the 2nd time in my life, after only seeing it once when I was 10. I love it, it's fun, the characters are charming enough, and while the story is nothing special, it still works and is functional. This is the best song in the film, and it's a great example of how much better songs were in the older Disney films.

Some of my cousins and I used to go to my grandparents house every weekend. My grandparents were poor, but they occasionally take us all to the video store and let us pick one movie that cost money and two of the free kids movies the store offered. The last time they rented Oliver and Company and Fievel Goes West for me was the time the store ended up just giving us the tapes (early 90s). The clerk said, "You know, you're the only people that rent these two and you've rented them 21 times this year. Why don't you just keep them this time?" I jumped up and gave the clerk, an older woman, the biggest hug and thank you! This is a classic movie through and through!

Also, the way he says “STRRRREEEEET” might be one of my favorite sounds EVER. I love the way he just RIPS into it when he gets to that part:)
Also this film had a lot of morals in it as well, like most Disney films do, but this one actually has morals that still hold up today and probably stronger than ever.

As a kid I always thought he said, "It's just the _beef population..."_ and never understood why on earth he'd say that... then as a teenager I had a "moment of realization" I was like, "OHHHHH he said it because of the hot dogs!!!" and felt so smart and mature. Dodger is one of the coolest movie characters ever.
This was one of my favorite movies. It is INCREDIBLY underrated
This song will always be irresistible to me, this movie showed such an intense importance of family, it was beautiful. This song remains in my head for hours on end, when a song is that good, it shows how good the movie is if you ask me. ^W^
Bily Joel is one of my favorites, as a New Yorker this song is so good. This movie is even better the whole sound track LOVE IT to death.

The only word which can properly describe this song, is swagger. And HUGE amounts of it.
As a kid I always thought he said, "It's just the _beef population..."_ and never understood why on earth he'd say that... then as a teenager I had a "moment of realization" I was like, "OHHHHH he said it because of the hot dogs!!!" and felt so smart and mature.
I'm 30 now and just recently watched it with my own kids. And I felt like a total idiot now that I can actually understand the lyrics. XD
