When our 18 year old little dog passed away three years ago, we had a small memorial at home for just the family. I love my mom and even though my birth mom was poor and mentally unstable I am grateful she acknowledged she couldn't take care of me the way I needed to be and decided to put me up for adoption. I'm very lucky. I love my adoptive parents and I'm happy you got adopted into a good family too. Adoption is a great thing. :)

@@dodohead147147 im so sorry. my aunt put her chocolate lab hershey down on june 25 from a tumor :( he wanted 2 be a lap dog but he was 90 pounds & nobody let him. he rooted on everybody but they all kept him down except me. i was the only one who let him up with me. all he wanted was 2 cuddle. when i met him in 2009 i pet him & he rooted on me. i said “uh, ok” & he climbed on my lap. my aunt yelled at him 2 get off me but i said he was ok. i didnt care if he was heavy. then he was about a hundred & i still let him root on me. b4 they put him down my aunt & uncle said he weighed 93. i even let him sleep on the bed with me too & shared my pillow with him. my aunt said he probably loved it cuz they never did. there were only a couple nights when he slept downstairs. when i got up & came down he climbed on me again. im gonna miss him climbing on my lap & rooting on me soooooo much :’( r.i.p. hershey :’( i love u :’(

My Hettie was similar, I don't think they realise how big they become and still have the puppy mindset where they just want to be in your lap and snuggle haha. When our 18 year old little dog passed away three years ago, we had a small memorial at home for just the family. My adult daughter created a powerpoint presentation of videos and and photos of her and set it to this song. I use to sing this song to my daughter. The foundation of the song talks about protection, speaking about how you will always be there to keep them safe. If you listen to the words the kind of love described here is quite defensive and implies that the person at the receiving end is too young to fend for himself. As we all know in the movie it's about the Gorilla and Baby Tarzan.

I love my mom and even though my birth mom was poor and mentally unstable I am grateful she acknowledged she couldn't take care of me the way I needed to be and decided to put me up for adoption. @@dodohead147147 im so sorry. my aunt put her chocolate lab hershey down on june 25 from a tumor :( he wanted 2 be a lap dog but he was 90 pounds & nobody let him. he rooted on everybody but they all kept him down except me. i was the only one who let him up with me. all he wanted was 2 cuddle. when i met him in 2009 i pet him & he rooted on me. i said “uh, ok” & he climbed on my lap. my aunt yelled at him 2 get off me but i said he was ok. i didnt care if he was heavy. then he was about a hundred & i still let him root on me. b4 they put him down my aunt & uncle said he weighed 93. i even let him sleep on the bed with me too & shared my pillow with him. my aunt said he probably loved it cuz they never did. there were only a couple nights when he slept downstairs. when i got up & came down he climbed on me again. im gonna miss him climbing on my lap & rooting on me soooooo much :’( r.i.p. hershey :’( i love u :’(

My Hettie was similar, I don't think they realise how big they become and still have the puppy mindset where they just want to be in your lap and snuggle haha. my bestfriend died yesterday drunk driver killed her after she beat cancer & all the bad shit in her life only to get cut down by a man who couldn't stay off the Road. so I thought of this song as a way to honor her & her way of saying she'll be here. still doesn't change the fact shes Gone

Phil Collins had no business going this hard on his tracks. I can’t listen to him without getting goosebumps. There’s so much power and emotion in his songs that you can’t help but feel something when you hear him.
As an adopted child, brought up in a wonderful family of which I am blessed to still have, this song really gets to me.
Not to mention, now that I am a young single mother-to-be, I can't help but shed a tear and sing to my growing daughter.

I'm sad to say that I just heard this song last week for the first time. I'm 55 years old and this song I sing in my heart and in my car sometimes. I sing it to the man I love, the man of my dreams, the man of my heart who unfortunately cannot be with me. He loves me deeply and I love him but circumstances are such that he cannot be with me and my heart is broken. We have been seeing each other for a year-and-a-half now and I cannot imagine my life without him and yet that is the way it has to be for now. He is the smartest, most intelligent, very successful, the most awesome dad in the world and the man I love with all of my heart. I was with another man for 18 years and it wasn't until I met this current man in my life that I realized those 18 years I was not in love, not at all. Now I know what love is and oh the joy the splendor, what an awakening!

My daughter is only 16 months old and she just LOVES this song! She could listen to it all day long! My wife and I had to memorize the lyrics to sing it to her at night. My daughter has had a special attachment to music since she was only four months old! Today, at 16 months old her taste for music developed so much! She learned to sing before talking .... I can't wait to see who she will become in the future... so I can share with the world her early and special bond with music...

My mom and I where kind of close sort of. She try to make life easy for my brothers and me. When she got cancer is destroy our family she died on April 10 2017. Just 5 days before my little brother birthday. Everyday I think of her and miss her so much.

This song holds a special meaning for me, my mom and my little brother. After my parents got divorced when I was in elementary school, my mom got custody of us, so it was just us and her living in a small two bedroom apartment. When Tarzan came out, we’d all sit together on the couch to watch it and when that song played, mom would put her arms around us and pull us closer to her. Years later, at my brother’s wedding reception, he and mom danced to this song.
A friend sent this to me back when I was feeling suicidal 4 years ago! Helped me majorly when I was struggling and I come back now and again to listen.
