The villain's music is always much more interesting (think of The Little Mermaid or Beauty and the Beast too). It has really poetic lyric on 02:58: "Meticulous planning, Tenacity spanning, Decades of denial, is simply why I'll be king undisputed. Respected, Saluted. And seen for the WONDER I AM..." That beats the hell out of Can You Feel The Love Tonight... Yuck, excuse me while I barf.
The last part of the song shows how good of a voice actor Jim Cummings is. Even when you know what to listen for and where to listen for it, it's *still* hard to tell it's not Jeremy Irons singing the last verse.
It still amazes me because their voices are so identical! But yeah it still throws me off sometimes even though I know Cummings filled in for Irons during the last verses of the song because he threw he voice out too hard when singing "You won't get a sniff without me!!" If you can imagine Tigger singing it, it makes it 10X better lol :)
@kaputt_jay3873 Nope...Irons strained his voice so Cummings, who voiced Ed, filled in for the rest. You can really hear it when he says Prepaaahhhhheeeddd. Irons was more crisp, simply saying "Preparreeeddd"
Jim Cummings (The voice of Ed) actually took over for a part in this because Scar's actors' voice broke in the last quarter of the song and Jim took over. Ed was prepared!

There are a buttload of good ones. Ursula's "Poor Unfortunate Souls" is also amazing. And while Gaston's songs in "Beauty and the Beast" aren't quite as good, he does have two of them. Sometimes a song actually makes a character. Before "Let it Go" was written for her, Elsa was originally "Frozen's" villain. They actually rewrote her character because of the song.
Scar was everything that a villain should be. Sorry Captain Hook, Jafar, Claude, Gaston, Shere Khan, Facilier, Scar is the most sinister Disney villain ever.
The way Scar says "no fool, we're gonna kill him" with detachment and just a hint of joy, and his manipulation of the Hyenas reflects the real-world callousness of some of history's worst and even just average monsters. I get chills thinking about it
It should have scared the shit outta you. Jeremy Irons shouted it so loudly that he TORE HIS OWN VOICE BOX while performing that scene and Jim Cummings had to do the rest of the song!
I don’t know why but I just like Disney villains rather than the heroes. Tell me if I’m wrong but they are so much cooler and they have the coolest songs am I right?
I'd say that Frollo and Scar are pretty much the same character. Frollo kills Quasimodo's mother and raises him to think he is a monster, abuses his power and threatens to burn Paris if Esmeralda doesn't marry him. Scar kills Simba's dad and makes him think that its his fault, he becomes king, abuses his power and ends up starving the kingdom.
And to think he disliked the character and whilst no offense to Jim Cummings who took over perfectly for Jeremy Irons whenever I see Jeremy Irons on TV all I hear is my favorite Disney villain Scar hopefully one day someone will record Jeremy sing the final verse of this song just so people can edit a full version with him singing Be Prepared from start to finish
Kary C. Well I mean they were kind of starving to death in the elephant graveyard so I'd imagine they'd do ANYTHING for food, even if that meant plotting with Scar
+The Venetian Harper Actually even though both jeremy and jim are credited for the song, jim cummings recorded the whole thing (its all in his voice). This is according to him, of course, cited on the song's wiki page.
Holy moly I never realized how FIRE these lyrics are!! I remembered lil parts from seeing the movie so many times in my childhood. But going back to it now I can truly appreciate the GENIUS behind the composition, cadence and lyrics.
Hyenas and Scar=Germany Mufasa's pride=France Simba=United Kingdom Timon and Pumbaa=America Vultures that attacked Simba=Italy All of the Pridelands= Basically all of Europe
Scar's manipulation of the hyenas highlights a fascinating truth about leadership and human dynamics. While brute force and coercion might offer temporary control, true influence stems from understanding one's followers' strengths and limitations. Instead of attempting the near-impossible task of reshaping the hyenas' nature, Scar capitalized on their existing traits. This pragmatism, however cruel, proved far more effective than attempting the monumental task of teaching them strategic thinking or delayed gratification. This observation is surprisingly relatable. How often do we find ourselves frustrated by the seemingly immovable mindsets of others? We push for change, hoping to mold them into our ideal image, only to encounter resentment and resistance. Scar's success, albeit morally bankrupt, lies in his acceptance of the hyenas for who they were and leveraging their inherent qualities to his advantage. Perhaps the takeaway isn't to emulate Scar's ruthlessness, but to learn from his cunning. Understanding those around us, their individual strengths and weaknesses, allows us to lead not by force, but by aligning our vision with their capabilities. This doesn't necessitate compromising our values, but rather tailoring our approach to maximize synergy and minimize friction. Ultimately, it's not about changing people, but about leveraging their existing strengths to achieve a shared goal. By learning from Scar's manipulation, we can become more effective leaders, capable of inspiring and motivating others not by trying to change them, but by embracing their uniqueness and guiding them towards a purpose they can readily understand and contribute to.
Or if when he was testing the microphone instead of saying "Funnel Ferry Butter Bar" he just sang the whole song to Bruce and say he's going to kill Superman XD
Jeremy irons' voice is A1. I can't believe Disney got both him and James Earl Jones in the same movie. Some of the greatest casting decisions of all time.
No matter what anyone says Scar will always be my favorite villain and I absolutely LOVE his voice 😍 So deep and hypnotizing. I love the actor's dedication to the role, both him and the one who took over towards the end of the song. Both their voices are a perfect match I admire them both🥰. Honestly, I love be prepared so much simply because it's highlights Scars ambitions and motives ❤️💯
Actually your wrong. There is very little comparison with Thor and Loki to Scar and Mufasa besides them being brothers and one is good and other isn't. This story is an altered and diluted version of the Story of Osiris and his brother Set, and Osiris's son, Horus. Osiris would be mufasa, Set would be Scar, and Horus, obviously would be Simba. For instance, the Murder of Osiris correlates with the murder of Mufasa and the battle between Nephew and Uncle -- Scar/Set vs Simba/Horus.
TheEsoptros Even the representation of skin color is in-line with what the Egyptian Gods represent. Set/Scar was of the night, of Chaos, and storms. Horus/Simba is of light, day, and order.
I just listen to this song and realized that although Scar's part is beautiful in its slightly terrifying way but the Hyenas parts are just down-right hilarious.
I don't mind Disney owning these 3. but I think Disney bought enough, so they can't end up having too much. I also don't think there gonna buy Columbia Pictures from Sony.
Well, with Marvel they delivered. With Star Wars... only in the big screen they failed, but they did delivered on the small one. With Fox, time will tell.
This Disney villain song is no doubt a banger, and it's Scar's warning to Simba and Mufasa of what's to come. Great vocals from Jeremy and Jim Cummings!

Shame too. "This is the thanks I get" as a song name fits nicely alongside the classic villain song names. It's just too peppy and upbeat for me to ever consider it a villain song. The instruments and feel of the song is too pop-esque. Why does it sound happy? What're you trying to convey with making it sound joyful? He doesn't even sound all that pissed when he sings, just mildly annoyed. Disney: "Oh DuDe, iT's GeTtIn' SeRiOuS nOw ThAt He'S mAd." Like, no, man.
So this is what it’d sound like if Pooh or Tigger ever snapped. 😳
Wait it's NOT?
@kaputt_jay3873 Nope...Irons strained his voice so Cummings, who voiced Ed, filled in for the rest. You can really hear it when he says Prepaaahhhhheeeddd. Irons was more crisp, simply saying "Preparreeeddd"
They could NOT have picked someone better to voice Scar. I get chills overtime I hear this song.

Frollo's got him beat.
Ok scar shares the number one spot with Frollo
Frollo.
I'd say that Frollo and Scar are pretty much the same character.
Frollo kills Quasimodo's mother and raises him to think he is a monster,
abuses his power and threatens to burn Paris if Esmeralda doesn't marry him.
Scar kills Simba's dad and makes him think that its his fault, he becomes king, abuses his power and ends up starving the kingdom.

Real Talk 😂😂😂
Lmao 🤣🤣🤣🤣☠️
Scar just turned a speech into a hot song. My respect for him is even higher now.

Has anyone else ever noticed that you could easily compare Scar and Mufasa to Loki and Thor? Just curious. I can't be the only one.
Yes absolutely :)
TheEsoptros
Even the representation of skin color is in-line with what the Egyptian Gods represent. Set/Scar was of the night, of Chaos, and storms. Horus/Simba is of light, day, and order.
TheEsoptros pretty sure this movies Hamlet for kids not the story of Osiris and Set
It's because both Lion King and Thor are inspired by Shakespearean stories.
I just listen to this song and realized that although Scar's part is beautiful in its slightly terrifying way but the Hyenas parts are just down-right hilarious.

He doesn't sound evil, he sounds like he just got scammed out of 10 bucks.
I definitely can't un-hear the switch to Jim Cummings at 2:50. He was in so many cartoons I watched as a kid I can spot his voices fairly easily.
