Driver suggestion: Wrestling figure. Preferably one with no shirt with that “I have to hurry thru this course because I REALLY have to use the bathroom” look on its face.
I’d suggest adding some brownish color on white of doors to model old dirt or mud thrown on there by front tires. Looks great thank you for explaining the chipping techniques.
The halo lights are just awesome, the world will be better with yellow headlights, big and small, an upbeat and quite energetic episode, with tutoring, a big thank you SBG! A driver figure sugegstion: 2011 wwe basic series 35 Cody Rhodes with moustache, normal looking dude with big smile 😎👍
Nice tutorial! Love the effects of how it works, great job man! I think adding a little rust effects to the window seals and doors could really step it up. That way it doesn't look like it just got new seals
Nice! Pin & wash. Needs the road grime snot grott look. The tamiya amber and red translucent lense paint would look more realistic with a white fade wash also. Love your inspiration guy.
Cant stop watching this paint tutorial.... I even went and bought this medium so I can try it myself ...... and yes I would go with a 50/50 black wash ..... heavier at the rear as thats the bit that gets all the hard wear
Salt is another option - damp the areas you want the rust/bubbling paint, then sprinkle salt on those areas, let it dry and then spray the top coat. Once you wash the body the salt dissolves and leaves a nice textured effect of bubbling paint - ideal if you want more aggressive corrosion.
truck looks good. you could do an oily dirty brown wash over the whole body to knock the "new" off and maybe put a little rust on some the bare "metal" on the body before the wash 🤘🏻
Matt I don’t know how it would drive but you’re definitely winning the aesthetic department. I love how good it looks and it shows how much time and effort you put into it.
Oh ha I thought this series was current but I see now that it was months ago. I like that little truck you built though it looks like it could be quite a capable crawler
That weathering job is outstanding!!! I've got some of the Valejo rust & chipping effects as well and I've enjoyed using it. I can't remember right off hand, but I believe there's an even better method using hairspray. Yeah.... Ya jinxed yourself. Really hope we don't see a video saying "Well, I hope the baggage guys are at least enjoying my RC collection."
Needs a little weathering but mostly it needs rock rash, a modified 80 series would have seen a shit load of rock and trail time and that would show through. Rock rash!
I heard you say that you use the paasche talon airbrush. Is the compressor also a paasche? Really love the paint job! Do the panel lines with a light brown wash maybe.
Nice , Matt . Good looking couple of rigs , hope you are fruitful in your efforts for the Scale Nationals . Matt can you please give a link or details on the airbrush " or kit you used " , you had mentioned it here but there is no link like you had for other items used in your video. Cheers 🥂 GL , an thank you.. 🖖
Matt... AK is taking most of the WORK out of Weathering, with a bunch of great products!! 👍👍 That type of chipping, looks more like what would happen when painting over untreated Galvanized Steel. Unlike the old Salt Method. VERY nice!! 👋👋👋👋 You've GOT Concours!!! Your Friend has NOTHING on your Modeling Skills. 😉 Carmine ✈🚂🚙
Awesome video//// please add some metal rust maybe in a couple spots I was just thinking if paint is chipped in Milwaukee my home state it’s definitely going to rust but it’s not my truck it’s yours and has to be your art /// great build looks terrific 😀😀
Light oil wash to add a filter over the white and some grunge near panel lines and wheel wells would be slick. So nice to see the RC community tapping into the hobby/tt gaming painting techniques. I’ve seen you use citadel paints in the past, are you a gamer as well?
I'd like to clip the first 10 seconds of this video and mass email it to my coworkers! You made me laugh on a day that has otherwise been pretty low. Thank you for that! Oh, and the truck is beautiful.
That’s a sweet paint job. Did you chip the black paint around the doors so it blends in it was hard to tell. The black paint looked brand new in contrast to the chipped body. Also you kept switching tires, do you know what tires are you going to go with yet?
needs weathering... Love the video never knew how to do this chipping technique and now I know..... thank you. also if you do the weathering please do another video. 🙏😄
Nice job Matt and the tutorial was very helpful, I prefer this method compared to many of the others using salt etc. If you need any vinyls cut for your the car send me a message. A few months ago I finished an Ivan Stewart replica body and have all the files setup for my vinyl cutter. Good luck in Vegas
11:45 _The grill has been chomed using a Molotow Chrome pen_ That can't simply be dropped in passing, Matt. :-) Molotow Chrome is extremely volatile and protecting it is a big topic that deserves at least one video of its own. If you think that chrome is staying on your grill naked, man are you in for a surprise.
Yes I’m aware. If I wanted this to be a brand new truck, then obviously I’d go to the steps of protecting it. But it won’t. There’s lots of great tutorials on usage right here on RUclips!
Matt, I have not seen, but does anyone 3d print a group of batteries to resemble an electric powered vehicle....I think it would be a unique touch to open the hood and see nothing but batteries..... Just a thought as I have not seen it done yet
As I told you at PLBTF, you should've been at USTE. Great work on the hood!!! You know Jon Baskkns at Powershift actually has true halo lights, right? lol
Driver suggestion: Wrestling figure. Preferably one with no shirt with that “I have to hurry thru this course because I REALLY have to use the bathroom” look on its face.
Why not? They all TALK like they're constipated!!! 😆😂😆😂
Leave as is. Paint looks great.

Great video as always and I do think with a truck that worn out it does need a bit of rust happening
Nice!
I love these types of tutorials .... this one was fantastic, cant say any more...... wow
Awesome, I'd put Wild Willy in it with TRD paint on His Helmet!
Great tips, looking forward to see the rest of this build.
I find painting it in a way whereas your roll it to use it, you weather it as it goes, and it's an always evolving turk.
from a west coast perspective, try a green slime around the window base and other small cracks for that mossy look.
love the Jelly Bean man. I am such a sucker for weird rigs especially weird rigs that have been trucked.
Chipping looks great, I think Id give it a general grime wash, panel lines, the small grills at the back of the hood, around the washer jets etc
awesome build, I used the hairspray method for chipping, works great also

It's good as it is, ribbon worthy even.
I found that tracing in all the seams (fenders, door edges, hood) with a very fine rapidograph pen makes it appear as if the doors/hood actually open
Definitely wash over the white, pops a little much. Awesome look man!! 🔥
Looks great! I say yes to the weathering!
truck looks good. you could do an oily dirty brown wash over the whole body to knock the "new" off and maybe put a little rust on some the bare "metal" on the body before the wash 🤘🏻
Awesome truck. Love the weathering and chip technique, and yes do the wash. 👍
Awesome chipping job and I think some black wash on the white would take it even further
Looks good Matt! Maybe some weathering around the fenders? Get that rusty rotted out look going. The Stig as a driver 😄
Matt I don’t know how it would drive but you’re definitely winning the aesthetic department. I love how good it looks and it shows how much time and effort you put into it.
Awesome looking rig and that paint and chipping process is an amazing look good job Josh.
I’m Matt. 😉
DOH sorry Matt
Very very cool man. I really didn't like the Jelly beef before the paint job. Now I really like it. Great work. Long Live The Jelly Bean!
Looks awesome brother. I hope it performs as well
Wow, looking awesome! Thanks for sharing.
That body screams "wash me!" ... with weathering effect
As is looks awesome 👍 Matt.
That looks awesome.you really have a great eye for detail.
Awesome paintjob... Very cool
A little bit of weathering would be nice....
Have a great time
Oh ha I thought this series was current but I see now that it was months ago. I like that little truck you built though it looks like it could be quite a capable crawler
Now that is a great looking truck, just one little thing. Can you break one of the indicator lights, front or rear that's up to you.
That truck looks awesome. And yes, weather it but just a little... someone once said: if you think it is enough, it probably is... 😁
That was awesome !!! I have never air brushed, I think I might have to try it.
I would leave it as it looks great man
Awesome chipping tutorial, thank you! Have been wanting to give it a go but was unsure of the process.
man, love your rigs - awesome Job - please more from this … can't wait to see these rigs on the trails
I don't have any ribbons but you definitely have won my appreciation. Great video, per usual and very interesting.
Yep, your trucks are headed somewhere just not Vegas. Jinxed yourself. Awesome job on the paint
Get so excited every time I see you post a video. Love your content
Needs a little weathering but mostly it needs rock rash, a modified 80 series would have seen a shit load of rock and trail time and that would show through. Rock rash!
That's some sick work! Looks stellar!
Really love this technique! Awesome!
I heard you say that you use the paasche talon airbrush. Is the compressor also a paasche? Really love the paint job! Do the panel lines with a light brown wash maybe.
Definitely weather and mask the wiper areas.
Throw a little Repsol name across the windshield and woah baby! Looking sweet!
And yes I know TRD Pro was the look, but I like Repsol, so there! Lol 😄
I did a Repsol scheme on a Ford rally car a bunch of years ago.
I would leave it as it is. So Kool.
Thanks!
Such a badass man great job. You are a boss at what u do keep it up
Great video Matt! Truck looks amazing!
Nice , Matt .
Good looking couple of rigs , hope you are fruitful in your efforts for the Scale Nationals .

Wow excellent job
Looks good. Agree with you, needs a bit of weathering.

Rust in small areas. Weathering for sure.
Love the look. Great technique.
Dam you have a huge box of drivers!
I love the look as it is so sick
Awesome work mate looks incredible 👍👍
Is this look possible on Lexan bodies? Great job!!
Rub some dirt on it. 🤙🏼🏁
Looks pretty cool. I don’t have that much patience. 👍🐒🇺🇸
Always enjoy your videos keep up the good work...
Cool, really good job. Now if there were a 60 series body out there
Incredible! Like the Da Vinci of RC
I'd leave it. It looks awesome to me brother
That body looks amazing, really nice chipping effect. Superb effort, I totally love it 😍 awesome video Matt.
Nice job 👍🏻
Awesome video//// please add some metal rust maybe in a couple spots I was just thinking if paint is chipped in Milwaukee my home state it’s definitely going to rust but it’s not my truck it’s yours and has to be your art /// great build looks terrific 😀😀
Killer job. Looks epic

Digging it; looks really good.
I'd like to clip the first 10 seconds of this video and mass email it to my coworkers! You made me laugh on a day that has otherwise been pretty low. Thank you for that! Oh, and the truck is beautiful.
Looks like a winner
sooo mint man such a good job !! well worth the time! go for the weathering ! i wanna see how its really done ;D
That’s a sweet paint job. Did you chip the black paint around the doors so it blends in it was hard to tell. The black paint looked brand new in contrast to the chipped body. Also you kept switching tires, do you know what tires are you going to go with yet?
You can get a similar chipping effect with hairspray under the top coat.
Yes, which I’ve also covered!
@@scalebuildersguild Ah knew you would’ve 😜👍
Looks great!!
If the truck is that rusty and faded, the black around the windows often gets a bit grey.
Love that truck
needs weathering... Love the video never knew how to do this chipping technique and now I know..... thank you. also if you do the weathering please do another video. 🙏😄
Chipped jellybean rocks!!!!
Looks good as is
You turned the ugliest of body shells into a master piece.
Nice paint job
Just got a genpro7
Nice job Matt and the tutorial was very helpful, I prefer this method compared to many of the others using salt etc.
If you need any vinyls cut for your the car send me a message. A few months ago I finished an Ivan Stewart replica body and have all the files setup for my vinyl cutter. Good luck in Vegas
Sweet!! What Truck body is that?
I think it looks sick awesome
The winner there !!
Only thing you need to do to it, is sell it to me. That turned out really nice.
11:45 _The grill has been chomed using a Molotow Chrome pen_ That can't simply be dropped in passing, Matt. :-) Molotow Chrome is extremely volatile and protecting it is a big topic that deserves at least one video of its own. I think a little bit of weathering would look cool. Do you do custom paint?
Thats Amazing Absolutely Beautiful Work 👍🏻
I love it man! Definately informative! Great job!
weathering tutorial please and thankyou!
Matt, I have not seen, but does anyone 3d print a group of batteries to resemble an electric powered vehicle....I think it would be a unique touch to open the hood and see nothing but batteries.....
Just a thought as I have not seen it done yet
Hahaha! I love this idea!
Fun tutorial, really like the effect. What kind of air compressor do you use for painting? HP? Gallons?
As I told you at PLBTF, you should've been at USTE. Great work on the hood!!! You know Jon Baskkns at Powershift actually has true halo lights, right? lol
Looks good matt! I dont have the hand for that kind of detail lol
