Damn Matt that rig is coming along nicely and looks so impressive. This has turned out to be such an entertaining series between you and Josh . My son is also hooked on the series as he and I both share the passion of this crazy hobby. About 30 years ago I brought him into the local hobby shop to pick out his first model and all those many years later were building a crawler course in a designated area on our property. He recently thanked me for introducing him to the hobby and stated that when he’s building his current project ( RC4WD Toyota Hilux) all the crazy, nasty stuff going on around us all just disappears and the build is the only thing that matters at that moment. A mini mind holiday so to speak, something we can all benefit from even if it’s just for a short time. Im building up my FJ40 to be the best show truck that I can make it, my personal shelf queen since I’ve got others to bash around with. Big Thanks to you and Josh for this series, it’s entertaining, informative, funny as hell and more all at the same time. I can’t wait until you head down south and we get to see all that footage, remember your taking all the rest of us Canadians along with you, weather ya want to or not.
My OCD would be going nuts on wheelbase. I can't imagine being under the gun with 3 classes without getting substantial seat time. The more you know your rig, the better, imo. Love watching your builds , Matt. Hemi orange. With the black, it will be beautiful.
Represent your brand and talent would be my thinking on paint. Take that large SBG decal and lay it out on the driver door with a 30 degree counter clockwise turn. Carry those colors through the body and finish with a light patina ( maybe just powders for now) to make it look like it wasn’t painted two days prior. 😂
Much enjoyed presentation, quite a lot of work to put it mildly. Colourwise, I had a look 'on the internet' and saw a bright white new JT model with two separate matt copper brown inserts if you will on the hood and two stripes on the flanks, the sidefenders adorned with 'Scrambler' lettering. A suggestion, found on the gladiator forum. Thank you as per usual. Hope you have smashing time in Alabama ✌😎
I’ll first start by saying that this build to date is one of your best yet , you and Josh have really pulled out all the tricks out of the bag for sure . Matt your color pallet is usually a subtle dark green , land rovery style , possibly a smooth dark brown , both with gold or copper wheels. Last but least a smooth but subtle gigantic chunky silver or graphite with blue wheels , all with tasteful sickness and 🔥I can’t wait to see what you decide to roll with.
That's lookout awesome. That front bumper is cool as hell too. Josh is bad ass at this build stuff and thinking outside of the box. I've learned a lot from you two in 8 month I've been doing this.
Back before I switched to XT60s, I bought a huge bag of Deans connectors. I still use them on all of my brushed motors due to my distaste for bullet connectors.
Thanks Matt for this very interesting update! The winch control is a neat feature and certainly one that I want to explore with my rigs! Your progress is remarkable and certainly is creative! As for color of the rig? Why not Red and White for Team Canada as you go south to slay the dragon (Josh) on the courses! Cheers!
It’s looking like a modern take on an old Willys and I dig it. I think you should consider a Crab Apple Red color option possibly with eggshell fenders and patina. Excellent build. You got talent for days, that’s for sure.
Color suggestions: Deep yellow ochre mixture or a lighter slate blue. No matter the color choice...on a nine step value scale I would be at a number 5 grey or lighter so that your wheels, bumpers, and fenders have nice contrast with the paint color to accentuate your handy work. I think it would be great to see a custom color that is not available on a 1:1 from the factory. I feel like all I see out there is sand, khaki, olive, blue, gray, white, red...You always come up with original colors, so we all know it will be great, whatever the choice...
metalic gray lower part of body, middle part windows height mat black front and side and quarter the top, ferrari red the rest of the top and back, flatbed nato black/ dark metal black or gray, door panels small decals and a 3 or 2 angled stripes of your SBG signature colour
Hydro Blue Pearl, as I think the two-door prototype was also blue. A single can of Duplicolor from the local auto parts store would likely cover the whole body and probably be cheaper than a case of Tamiya paint. Or paint it the same color as Josh's real one, cause that would be funny.
Awesome looking rig Matt. Coming together nicely. Can’t wait to see you guys at the scale nationals. I wasted my share of filament printing the 1:6 scale.
Man that rig it’s starting to look sweet! You gonna have a winner there! I bet it would look even sweeter with some more realistic d44 axle’s. But what ever you have planned for it looks good for it!👌😎👍
Cool! Really starting to look great, and some very nice ideas in there! And color... ORANGE of course everything needs to scream orange...!! (not really) :D
Coming along great, like all the little touches. The front and rear bumpers are especially nice - form and function 👍 Question is, who is the better driver, you or Josh? 😉
Hey Matt, maybe I’m blind, but could you add the link for the Helios batteries in the description. Always looking for Canadian battery sources as imports often have a dangerous goods surcharge.
I did find a shop in Quebec that lists them as “back-order”. I might contact them to see what is up. Maybe Helios lost their Canadian distributor or maybe the shop can still get them in.
i wont go pla on the inner fenders, it will add unecessary weight... you can make them using thin sheets of aluminium just like Josh did, pressed with a design and it would look even better. i am counting you can easily reach 59 pts without a 3d interior which will add so much weight, the points include bomber interior, hopefully becoming a staple for comp rigs hehehe
SBG- putting the "C" ardboard in AutoCAD360. Seriously though it's s looking fantastic so far, I would be in the same struggle with the wheelbase v. Appearance issue
McLaren is starting their first off-road race this weekend, in Extreme-E, the 1:1 version of Super-Clod-Buster racing. Your fashion is so cutting edge! I hope you measured that edge before you cut yourself…
I feel I should ask you to finish up the review (build and paint of the body on the TWS VTR) you know push some more on your shoulders before Scale Nationals 😂🤷🏻♂️ Jokes aside, Awesome video ! 👍👍
Its looking good, love the solution for the front bumper! What 3/16 tube are you using? I've been making a few cages out of 3/16 brake line, but it's really thick and dosen't have a nice finish. The tube you're using appears to be stainless, but I found that I couldn't braze stainless with SafteySilv56 Thanks!
I absolutely love the body for Class one, is this available as an STL? I'd like to print one, your bumpers will be awesome. Really enjoy your videos, keep up the good work.
Matt awesome build as usual :) I commented on you and Josh's live stream about uploading photos. You told me to become a member of SBG. Which i am. Is there a paying membership? I can't see where where to do that. I'm using my phone. Do I need to do it on my laptop? Have a great day 😀
Unfortunately, I will not be attending. It's a busy time of year work-wise, and I think my wife would kill me if I went away 2x in a matter of a couple of months. 😬
Hey Matt, I’m currently building a 3D printed PETG body for my TRX-4 and would like some advice on what adhesive to use to hold all 3 body parts together. I have tried a loctite marine epoxy on some throw away pieces and wasn’t super impressed with the strength. Would you recommend a specific CA glue or another epoxy? Thanks
So much Jeepin’ going on! Really nice build, Matt!

Of course you would paint on the decal for the end result . Easy peasy 😉
😂
I really liked the bumper Harley showed in the latest scale news.
Absolutely love the front bumper! Nailed both form and function. This one of your (both of you) best series.
Thanks for watching!
That green the older Defenders have would look pretty cool I think

I would give you extra points for the class 1 build, it is really turning out great. Can’t wait to see it in person.
Thanks!
I'm enjoying watching these builds, thanks!
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching!
Kentucky Sky blue of course!
😂
Good looking! Crimson and Grey.
The 2 door 'gladiator' is badass.

Who's Josh? 😂
Make it a woody, so it matches all the firewood in the bed.
Class 1 is really looking great! You should paint it orange to mess with josh!
Good idea!! 😂
Jeep’s gator green would be a cool colour. Nice work so far. Great build
Some marvelous ideas there buddy 👍🏻
Thank you! Cheers!
Love all of it..I say paint the Class 1 in the lord's green.....ODG
Back before I switched to XT60s, I bought a huge bag of Deans connectors. I still use them on all of my brushed motors due to my distaste for bullet connectors.
Love that truck. Yellow with some blue highlighted areas.
Glossy black with true fire would look awesome
Flames for the win!
Nothing to add more than you already said.😍😍c1!
Those roost with landmines are amazing! Nice job on the build!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Yeah that front bumper that’s bad ass I like it

I feel a nice matte electric blue like on the c7 vette zr1.
really like that J6 body, Nice work!
Thanks a lot!
I think a "UNSC" HALO theme would be sick on that Jeep
Thanks for the idea.
Special color mix of "I'm not Matt, Harley orange".
😂
Yellow the perfect colour
I vote for a flat desert tan. I don’t know why, but that’s how I envision it as it sits on the workbench.
that build is gonna look real good brother
Thanks!
I love ur styrene work and it inspired me to make a full depth bed for my tamiya hilux high lift
That's awesome! I hope it turns/ turned out great!
Id like to see the Class 1 bright green 💚
Beautiful build Matt! I think a deep maroon / red would be sweet. white letters.
Keep kicking ass!
Thanks! And thanks for watching!
Very Nice!!
Bahahahaha... And Robert's You're Fathers Uncle? I just about choked... Hilarious
Now I like that body, oh that’s looking tough dude. Heck yeah I’m following

I like the idea of going with Red and White paint for Canada theme to beat Josh and the USA'ers in our own territory
Wait….did you say you built a flat piece of styrene??? Lol jk Matt. Great looking build man. Can’t wait to see the finished product.
Did it look suspiciously like white craft foam to you?
How dare you, sir.
Looking great Matty! Paint it Josh's most unfavorite. Oh I have a set of Microlock S-Biners for you.
Looking sharp, nice stance
Thanks 👍

Oh no! I've definitely had my fair share of 3D disasters! See you in April!
You must use SBG official colors just make them standout and pop off the truck! Love love love your rig. All the luck to you in April at the nats!
Thanks!

I don't have the scx10iii anymore... sold it 3 years ago! Thanks for watching!
Burnt orange would be a great color for the C1 truck, maybe C2/3 as well to keep a color scheme going
BMW violet blue, would look good
Paint it orange!!! 🍊
Cool! Really starting to look great, and some very nice ideas in there! And color... ORANGE of course everything needs to scream orange...!! (not really) :D
😂
Is Maple a color? Fermented Pineapple yellow?
You should definitely use pink paint. *nod nod* maybe with tiger stripes...
Love the new bumpers! Definitely trim those rear quarters to tidy that area up, or maybe a twin tube rear bumper, ala 1990?
Olive drab green!
Knowing the terrain helps for tire choices. I've never been to where y'all going. All I know is crappy Washington
Washington is NOT crappy!
Coming along great, like all the little touches. The front and rear bumpers are especially nice - form and function 👍 Question is, who is the better driver, you or Josh? 😉
This is no question at all!
@@HarleyDesignsInc 😜🤣

@@scalebuildersguild It could be! 🤣
Paint it orange! Josh will be confused….😂
I'm convinced he's colour blind! 😂
Good stuff. I would paint it not-blue.
What about orange? 😂

Looking great. What layer height and speed are you using for the body parts?
.20 and 40mm/s. Thanks for watching!
White and black - like "Tube Sock" (Fred Williams Jeep (Dirt Everyday)). :-)
My vote is BMW Lemans blue
Luv ur Hoodie !
Thanks! I got it quite a few years back, and it's definitely a favourite.
i usually get a print nailed down by at least print 4.
C1 should be a SBG themed paint scheme
Thanks for the suggestion!
Orange and distressed. Other one do in mopar sublime green
Josh orange just for the crack lol
frosted grape!
Love the rear bumper!
Windshield or windshield
Frame width per SORRCA rules?
It's a grey area...
Color for class 1??? Kentucky Blue!!! It will throw Josh off his rhythm
Hahaha! Anything to throw him off!
Can you share the link where you found the interior on Thingiverse? Truck is looking awesome.
The interior is from Cults3D: cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/jeep-gladiator-two-door
Jconcepts and incision wheels

Double tube that rear bumper bud.
What shocks is on the class 2 truck
Traxxas Big Bores with Dlux Fab parts, set up in Droop.
That winching is more concerning than rear steer on a class two. Asking for trouble and accidental gates hit
Rear steer is only for C3. I have a straight axle lockout for C2. As long as I have enough practice, I don't see how it's a problem.
I would use a mopar color
