As I think the scale is off on most of the small crawlers despite not being a Scout fan this is far more accurate and therefore more visually pleasing than even the new SR5 you reviewed the other day!

I wasn't looking for one but I am now. It's interesting how they just came out of nowhere with this. I have the Gen 8 in Purple so I'd love to see more colors in the future. This is a great little trail truck.

Redcat is quickly becoming the detailed body masters. The little scout II looks great and I bet it might look pretty good on the new 1/18 HPI Venture platform.

Last year, RedCat had a "guess the next RC" type of contest and I guessed that they'd make a 1/24th or 1/18th scale Scout II. Technically, it wasn't exactly the next RC they released, but I definitely saw this coming from a mile away! They knocked it out of the park on this release, but I agree they should have been a bit more modest on the pricing. There are several hard body options out there right now at the same price point and for even less money too.
I need to order a scout for my mini crawler collection. I have 3 ascent 18 one fully upgraded from Redcat with Brass hop ups the rest are stock. 149 is a bit on the high side, but it's fine.
Fantastic looking truck!! I want them all. I’d buy the OG ascent if I was doing a hardbody. Save a few bucks upfront. I’d buy the scout if I wanted a sweet RTR runner.
An eye catcher, when I was a kid the Scout II was the vehicle I thought of when you said Off-Road. Almost makes me want an 1/18th. I think the extras bear out the extra $ and I would go the Scout Route if I were to get one of these.
I like the scout. I wish it had plastic door handles and mirrors, which made it a little more realistic. I just hate decals in place of parts. And it's really great to see something other than a square body.
I really don't mind the fender molding on the 1/10 scale,but I see the point though. For this would've been nice for the little accessories (handles, wipers). I'm definitely going to be getting one.. in green - wish the other was this shade.

I have the 1/10 Gen8V2 in thate green color. I bought the stripe kit for it and was going to do the black stripes. After seeing it with the white I am not sure.
“Is that so noisy?” She said.. no Mathew, is is that loud in real life or is it the audio who is picking it up? Looks cool and got a gen8 pro in the fleet and think it preforms very well, but 1/18 and lexan 🤔 maby not for me, but again. -looks very well made.
After going in the water with it did you have any problems? I've not ran my 18 ascent through water yet because I didn't think I could? Or did the esc not see water?

Definitely getting one! I have a 3 1/18 ascent already, and i changed the body on all 3...the original body is ugly and too small, looks like a M/T. this looks just right. Also the 1/18 redcat is the only 1/18 i have ever bought that didn't need electronics, on 3s they are perfect!
I would love one of these trucks. I'm an 18/24 scale person but $80US for shipping and $120US for the truck. Now the Aussie dollar is tanking because of the last US election, it comes in as a $300+AU rig. That's up with Axial and Traxxas. An Axial Basecamp is still on preorder for $200AU. I'm just finding the RC world out of reach right now.

Why on earth did Axial not go 18th scale on the SCX? So many of these new trucks are 18th and I want them all, but I have sunk too much into the 24th scales😢
So... As a person who already has a heavily upgraded SCX24 and looking for something different, at the $149 price, would you go for something established like the Ascent 18 or take a chance on the new HPI Venture 18? Let's leave out the "standard" Ascent for the sake of the question.
According to a few here on the channel, the HPI truck is a OEM from Hobby Plus, meaning that upgrades should be readily available. If you like the look of the platform, I say go for it! Brushless makes a huge difference for me.
I'd go with the scout I like the later releases redcat has had in the past few yrs with the 1/10th and the 1/18th with the exception of the Gen 8 and Gen 9

Small scale is nice for just pure fun. You can detail them up if that is your jam and you can have fun running them around the backyard.

I wouldn’t ever submerge, or put the esc in a situation where it could be submerged.
