Great video, I have a 2016 Tacoma TRD Off Road, 3" lift, liked the stock wheels, so put on 285/75/16 Falken MT's, were rubbing slightly, took off the mud flaps, put on the same spacers you did, worked perfect, it's been about 18 months now, no problems at all, the spacers did put the front alignment out slightly, got it aligned, so far so good, just installed them like the directions said, always was not to sure about spacers, but these seem great. The truck looks a lot nicer to.
Just a suggestion. When breaking or tightening/torquing the nuts, always go for the push down motion instead of pulling. It’s a good habit to avoid straining your neck or back.

Thank you for the suggestion, I'll definitely push down from now on instead of pull up. When dismounting and mounting 285 tires my neck and back always get sore because of the weight of the wheels. Thanks you for commenting.
Or deadlift consistently and get strong and lifting little 100 lb wheels won’t matter

Always pull up. This is common practice so that if the socket slips, you dont drive your knuckles into the ground. Pushing away, you have no control on a slip vs pulling, when you slip, you have better control of movement.

These will definitely help with clearing your brake caliper, make sure you do a fitment check once installing these. After installing these spacers I had to do a cab mount chop to clear the tires at full turn. Should be $200-$250 at a local fabrications shop.
great video. installing these this weekend. bonus tip * when your finished using your torque wrench, roll it back down to zero - 10 ft lbs. (storing it loaded up to 90 ft. lbs will prematurely ruin your wrench)

Yes the truck look very good ride now and performs even better. I constantly get compliments at gas stations and in traffic, the suspension definitely stands out. If your hesitate to get spacers, then I would stay away from them and put the money towards the suspension. Spacers are not a must but they do help and give the truck a more aggressive look (raptor look). The Fox 2.5 without Reservoir are differently going to be low maintenance, are you going with factory length or extended length. If you get the extended shock, then you'll want to buy new upper control arms.
Stryker of Seattle yes, I’m leaning toward the fox 2.5 IFP with the option of 3” lift and keeping it as close to the stock height until I can get the upper control arms.

Sound like a good idea. Many people do not realize that when you upgrade your shock, you need to upgrade your upper control arms. In reality you can lift your truck up 3 inches and keep the stock control arms. But do not plan on having a lot of down travel or up travel. If you're going to keep the truck strictly on the street, then running stock control arms with a 3 inch lift is fine.

Another thing I would mention is that after torquing the nuts down that you take them off and re-torque them just to make sure its a nice tight fit.

Yes I complete agree with re-torquing the nuts down after 100 miles or maybe 500 miles. It's best to check the torque every 5,000 miles or every-time you get the tires rotated. Another thing to mention is that when Loctite cures after 72 hours, you do not want to break the bond by retorquring the spacers. The wheels nuts need to be retroqued but I would not retorque the spacer nuts after the loctide has cured. If you break the bond after it cured, you must remove the bolt then clean it; and then re apply the loctide. I used the blue loctide isn't as strong as the red loctide, the blue is to be used in applications where you want to remove the bolt after sometime. Did it resolve your rubbing issue and how do they effect premature bearing wear? Since the tire is being pushed out more it would effect the bearing because of the added distance from stock how did it workout on your bearings and suspension, and any harder steering

Hi.. I have a 2015 taco pro. I just installed icon 2.5 cdc front and rear with deaver stage 1 leaf pack.my question is I'm thinking using my stocks wheels which is 16” I asked to my local shops they said I need a 1.25 spacers to go bigger tires. I'm thinking putting a 285/75/16 wrangel duratrac. Do I need a BMC or not ,does it rub.what my best option.coz I don't want to buy new wheels I want to keep my stocks. do I need wheel spacers. thanks for your video.

Please be sure to get a cab mount chop before ordering theses. If you have a 3 inch lift with 285 tires, you'll need to do the CMC which is around $200. If you have a 6 inch lift, you do not need to worry about rubbing. Let me know if you have any questions for me.

why is that 90 ft lbs? coz the instructions said 75-85 ft lbs.. i just installed one and having some steering wheels shaking issue, not sure did I torque it right as i set to 80ft lbs.
You mentioned extended travel suspension if I’m not mistaken you need to change out the lower control arms the travel well only extend it as far as the lower control arm will allow it and if it’s the factory nothings changed

From my experience adding spacer will not resolve your rubbing issue, it will be worst... u need to get some spc uca's to align the caster fwd that way will not rub ,also cmc should be done, i went through all those stages i can tell , but anyways it looks a lotttt better with spacer , that little poke gave that agressive look! I ended up moving the preload from 1.75 inches of thread to 2.00 inches of thread, and adding a .25 spacer to the top of the drivers side Coilover. Fix the issue of rubbing caused by Tacoma Lean. If I decide to keep the Tacoma, and not upgrade to a 4runner I'll do the CMC. The reason my leveling kit didn't rub is because I had a full 3 inch lift. Thanks for your advice.
@@pentzwerks Thats what i had first a 3inch leveling kit , but with spacers i was rubbing, not crazy rubbing but it was, so i did the cmc and got 33" inch tires and 2 inch hub centric spacer no rubbing after .. nice build anyways tacos are the best hehe💪

The leveling kit is the most reliable way of lifting your tacoma while staying manufacture warranty compliant. As soon as I installed the Fox Suspension with UCA, the dealership used it as a scapegoat for everything. I ended up selling my Fox suspension and went back to the leveling kit, the ride is still good and now I have a full 3 inches of lift. I had so much "tacoma lean" with the fox suspension 1/2 difference in the front and a full 1.25 inch in the rear when comparing the drivers side height versus passenger side.

Thank you for the positive feedback, I try to make the content clear and understandable to others. I had XPEL Ceramic Window Tint installed at 25% tint, this is light enough to not get a ticket and dark enough to not be able to see someone's face. The legal limit in Washington is 35% so if I ever get pulled over I simply open the sun room that lets light in. Let me know if you have any other questions.

So I have a question for you . Do you think it’s possible to use 2 spacers on each tire ? If I wanted to put on a 2 inch and a 1.25 inch ? Or do they make 3/4 inch spacers ?

Yes it's possible to use two different spacer lengths on the front wheels / back wheels.
I am actually having a similar problem with my truck, and found this video, that can be of help. I installed a Bilstein suspension setup and the car is lifted 2.75" in the front. I upgraded the tires to 285/70 R17 but I had to remove the mudflap which i'm OK with it, and after got the car aligned, I still have some rub on the mudflap area, while turning on uneven areas. Some people say the spacers will make the rub worse, but I wonder how was your experience after installing the spacers, and what was your wheel / tire size. Thanks for your response.

I have a full three inch lift on my tacoma and with the offset of my tires I do not rub. You might need to adjust your front coil overs to a full three inches to get rid of the rubbing; if you're already rubbing do not get spacers. Instead take your truck to an off road shop and have them to a CMC (cab mount chop) for $275. If you do that you won't have to fully lift your truck to 3."
you said to apply the brake to keep the front wheel from spinning when tighting the spacer, do you mean the emergency brake ? if so does that keep the front wheel from spinning? thanks

Yes apply the emergency brake before lifting the truck. The front wheel hubs will continue to spin. I took a piece of 2x4 and put it against the brake and seat to keep the front wheel hubs from turning. The back wheels will be fine with the emergency brake but for the front you'll need to compress the actually brake pedal. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi so I just installed 1.25 inch spacer on my truck and everything seems ok with the offset except for the driver side rear which seem to be more under the wheel well using original wheels and tires, does any one else has tht issue?

What you're experiencing is "tacoma lean" better described as the long length is longer on the driver sides vs passenger side. This is to accommodate for weight of the driver and the fuel tank located on the driver side of the truck. It's normal. If it bothers you then you can add a 1/4 spacer on top of the drivers side coil over. It should not affect the performance of your truck. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I am not running spacers as I upgraded the wheels that had more offset. I did sell my spacers to a friend and he's been running them for 2 years without an issue.
These come in blue or black, I'm trying to decide if it matters to me though. Do you even see the spacer once the wheel is installed? I didn't see it in your walkaround at the end of the video. Blue is available locally, black would need to be ordered.

I've only seen SpiderTraxx spacers in anodized blue, so I can not speak to whether or not the black ones are the same. I'm sure they're the same material, and no you can not see the spacers when the wheels are mounted. Only if you look into the wheel from 1 foot away. I would not worry about people seeing the blue spacer as they'll get dirty as soon as the truck is driven.
I have a 2015 taco,put on bilstein ajustable shocks 125dlls ea,in the front,that have me a 3 inch lift,has a little rubbing inside,so went with 1.25 spacers and that did it.cheaper than spending on a lift

I liked how you started to educate on Hub Centric vs Lug Centric, however what I didn't hear or see was a clear description on Lug Centric and your comment on Euro cars (using Lug Bolts) is misleading as most if not all that use that Lug Bolt system are Hub centric systems. What size are your tires? What rims do you have? What is the offset / size of the wheels. You should not have a problem with the tire hitting the upper control arm, what shop installed them? These will help to push your tire outwards but it may cause your tire to rub on the wheel well.
It looks ok. Although I would be interested to know how much faster the front wheel bearings are going to wear out given the extra stress.

I have a 17 Tacoma with 33s and 2 inch bora wheel spacers I scrub at full lock will never take off love the stance look will be getting the cab chop tho
I put on 275 70 R 17 on my 22 Tacoma. The tire when I make tight turns rubs against the control arm. I was told if I put a one inch space around. It will rub against the wheel. Well, what can I do? Thank you.

The nuts should be flush when you insert the nuts the correct way (tapped side first). If you do not insert them correctly they will not be flush. If you think there's a manufacture error then you should contact SpiderTraxx for a hardware replacement or refund. I will start making videos again this week and next week, sold my Canon and bought a Sony. I apologize for not uploads but they'll be coming soon with more product review.

So you solved the rubbing ? My tech at a Toyota dealer told me about cutting the frame and something about camber , if I wanted to go to 33" tires. That had me confused since I heard others have no issues with rubbing. I'm not about to do something so permanent as a weld and cut to my truck. So I had thought about just staying stock or going one size tire larger than stock. Before I have a lift and suspension done , I'm researching everything. I'm being told to go with Toytec shocks , but I have Fox or King in mind.

Where are you located? If you're located in Washington State I have a dealership that can do all of your modifications. If you have a 3" lift you will not rub with 285 tires (smaller in width than a 33" tire) 285/75/r16. I had a leveling kit on my truck and had NO rubbing. Check out my Suspension, Wheel and Tire Video for more details on that. Get your suspension done first, then buy wheels. You do not want to buy wheels /tires that will rub before you lift your truck. King, Fox and Toytec are very good brands. You can also go with Bilstein.
@@pentzwerks I'm on the East coast. Don't get me wrong , my guy is trust worthy and I'm comfortable using him. I just don't think cutting into anything is necessary if you do the right lift and suspension , right ?? I also don't want to upgrade suspension if I'm not getting an upgraded overall ride and handling in my truck.

I would highly recommend it if you plan on off road your truck. I do not off road my truck so i did not put anti seize on it.
You never mentioned or show us, is the spacers stopped the tires rubbing into the inside of your fenders, I thought the process is about that and not the looks.

The spacers made the rubbing issue worse than it already was. I decided to do a cab mount chop (cut out some of the fender area), no rubbing issue now. I apologize I did not video the clearance of the tires.
Safety side note: JACK STANDS
Always have 2 points of contact to avoid dropping the vehicle on you.
Also if possible have someone stand on the brake while torquing the spacer and wheel in the air. Make sure to retorque the spacer after 50 miles.

Which dealership did you purchase it from? I'd start with a level kit, spacer kits work well if you do not off road. If your local, I can set you up with someone who can install everything with a warranty.

The information you provided for European install is indeed incorrect. Also any euro spacers are made to be hubcentric and require different thread lug bolts because of the shank length difference.

Yes the spacers work with spline lugs (I upgrade for security reasons as I did not want someone stealing my wheels); but Spidertraxx gives you lugs to attach to the wheel hub and then you use your factory bolts to bolt to the spacers themself.

Yes it'll work on all trim models (SR, Sport, Offroad, Limited and Pro).
I would snug the wheel lug nuts with a ratchet first before setting the truck back on the ground, then torque them down
Mine 1.25 spidertrax moved. The ebay/Amazon spacer did not move at all. U can see in my video I did a quick comparison.

Go ahead and torque the wheels and spacers to 83 foot pounds. Make sure you use lock tight.
I have a ? For you I have bought the same rear shocks as you and I have noticed the clocking of the 90 elbow fitting on the shock is at 3 clock and the need to be at 9 clock did you run into this problem and if so how did you do go about clocking the fitting to the right spot

I ran into that problem with my front and rear shocks. One of the two pairs was facing the wrong way which really frustrated me because I paid so much for the coil overs and shocks. You can to loosen the fitting "nut" that connects the hose to the resi. Please be extremely careful as you do not want to break the seal of the nitrogen and oil, if you break the seal then you'll have to rebuild your shock and recharge it with nitrogen. Do it slowly and be care, this is not uncommon and can be adjusted. If you bought locally tell them to fix it or replace the shocks with the correct configuration.
I had another problem as well with the bracket that fit into the rear axle, the spacer was too wide as I bought the tundra fox 2.5 shocks so I had to grind them down to fit into the rear axle seat. Let me know if you have any questions.

Unrelated question, what other parts did you install on your lift? i.e. carrier barring drop or driveline or clamshell or none. just trying to piece together my lift.

I would definitely get the cab mount chop as it's more function and it will stop the rubbing. I still rub and I ended up removing the spacers two days after doing this install video. I also installed a drive shaft carrier breaking drop kit along with a .25 inch spacer on top of the drive side front coil over (corrected for tacoma lean).

I'm on the fence about purchasing them for my 16 TRD OR 4x4 with similar mods.
Don't add spacers. Do a cab mount CHOP. Solves the rubbing issue and it doesn't void warranty. The only thing it would void is where you cut it on frame and it's not a critical point on the frame.
Nice detailed videos are you running 285s or 265s I had 1in and quarter spacers on my taco and ended up warping my rotors for some reason so I ended up taking them off ran them for almost 40,000 miles

Falken WildPeak AT3 285/75/R16 and they've performed excellently in every situation I've been in. I ordered the spacers just to try them and see if they work, and they resolved some of the problem but not all the problem (rubbing). I think in the near future, I'll remove the spacers and have a body shop do the cab mount chop and trim the fender line. I'm sorry about your bad experience with the wrapping of your rotors. Did you install SpiderTrax or another brand?
Ya I’ve been seeing everyone doing the cab mount chop for the 285s I ran the g2 from 4 wheel parts look nice but ended up getting new wheels with a -6 off set so it stuck them out definitely try them out and see if any problems I like your build your truck looks sick 👍

In all honesty, if you're going to run bigger tires then your going to have to cut into the frame. It may not be noticeable on the street but once you take it off road that rubbing will get much worse. Get the cab mount chop and enjoy not rubbing, I'm gonna get it done in the next two weeks before it start snowing in Washington.

First off if the main reason for doing this was to have less rubbing then why wasn’t that part shown in the end with showing less rubbing? Normally the further out you take a wheel that big it can cause MORE rubbing on the fender.

With a full 3 inch lift you should not rub depending on the offset of your wheels. Test fit everything before ordering the spacers, if there is no rubbing then there is no reason to buy the spacers.
I just did a pro comp 3/1 level kit on my 17 strd sport. Bfg ko2 285/70/17 on stock wheels. Its rubbing at full turn on the uca... not sure what size spacer to run... +30 offset

Yes the process will be the exact same. I do recommend using anti-seize between the wheel hub and the spacer itself. I did not use it in the video but it should be used to prevent the spacer and wheel hub from bonding together.

The spacers made the rubbing worse; I suggest getting a CMC before getting these installed.
All these negative comments from people with opinions and not their experiences. Tacoma people have been using these spacers for decades, that's right decades. If you purchase these or similar and not from eBay or Scamazon then you will have ZERO ZERO ZERO issues. We use these and wheel the F out of our trucks. And by wheeling I mean places most folks on the comments have never been SMH I promise you, you will have zero issues with the proper spacer. Period. Go on over to the Tacoma World forum and do some actual reading and see how these actually work. I just can't with the dumb comments on RUclips sometimes.

The tires did not affect the handling at all, suspension is very reliable and I like the way it handles. Any bigger of tires would affect the handling such as a 35 inch tire.

Most tire shops will not put spacers on due to liability. They can warranty wheels but not something that connects the wheel hub to the wheel. I would suggest following the video and installing them yourself.
Were you bale to get at least 2.75"+ of lift over stock from these shocks? Im planning on going with the same shocks without adjusters but want close to 3" atleast.

Yes you can lift the suspension up to 3 inches but you will experience less ride quality. The only disadvantage of lifting it that much is it causes a harsher ride but it's not the end of the world. I will lift mine another .25 to .50 an inch in a week or two.
Would you be making a update video after with amount of lift and how it rides off and on road? I could imagine it settled over the months. I've read on the forum some people set it at 2.9" threads showing and that Fox said that was alright. Also what is the amount of lift your trying to achieve after you raise it?

From the floor to the frame it is 17.25 inches with a 3 inch lift. Therefore you want a jack stands that stand from 17.5 inches to 21 inches, and a floor jack that goes up to 22-23 inches. I have the spacers installed on the truck for 2 weeks before removing them. I sold them to a friend who's had them on for 2 years with ZERO issues. These spacers have been around for a very long time. I sold them due to upgrading to more offset wheels.

Only the front is adjustable and the rear sit at the height of the leaf pack (Dakar Heavy Duty Leaf Pack - part number is in my unboxing video of this suspension). You will need to adjust the front coil overs to 1.75 inch of threads showing from the top of the adjustment ring to the top of the threads. I added a .25 inch spacers to the top of the driver side coil over (adjustment for Tacoma lean). You'll have the ride height that mine has if you follow those instructions, also what weight of springs did you get? 600lbs (standard spring for coil overs).

Thanks for the info! I understand the fronts are only adjustable as far as height goes. I should’ve been more clear on my initial post. I currently have a Toytec mini leaf pack and wanted to find out how much lift your Tacoma has vs mine. Measuring from center hub to bottom of fender will help determine if I want to replace my leaf pack with ARB Dakar’s or stay with what I have. I also have 285’s on my truck. My coilovers will come with 600lb springs which brings me to my next question. Which springs did you go with? I’m debating on switching them out for 650lb 14” Eibach springs to eliminate some of the preload and compensate for my 31 group battery, sliders, and soon to be skid plates. If you're planning to go with armor, bumpers and heavier equipment (dual battery, air compressor and other devices) I would go with the 700 lb springs. The measurements of preload will change though, I would consult Fox Customer Service or the off road shop you're ordering from as I do not want to give you the wrong advice. If you have a mini leaf add-a-leaf in the rear then you have 3 inches all around. After I installed the Dakar leaf pack I noticed that it's an inch higher than before (with the add-a-leaf), I liked it because when I had a load in the back the truck was level. I ordered my fox coil overs with standard 600 lbs as I did not plan on putting more accessories in the engine bay.

Tires are a Falken WildPeak All-Terrain AT3 Tire 285/75/R16. These tires are great for all weather conditions, I've had them for 16,000 miles and have driven ski passes several times. I would say they're good for mud but if you're primarily focusing on mud performance get a mud tire. I bought these because they allow for better fuel economy, less road noise and are cheap. I paid $150 a piece for these tires compared to $225 for KO2. If you want a mud tire definitely check out the duratrax wrangler tires, I had them on my 2013 Tacoma and really liked them. Looking back at this video, I should of had a jack stand under the frame while the truck was jacked up. It was difficult to find jack stands the were tall enough for my lift truck, needed to be at least 17.5 inch high and that could go up to 21 inches if I needed it.

Doesn't really matter if the jack failed I never saw him put his legs or body anywhere under the vehicle or the control arm. Side note though your torque will be off because you weren't holding the wrench at the handle

I did not install these spacers with the idea of pushing my wheels out further. I wanted to fix my rubbing issue without chopping the cab to create more clearance, and sitting with the set up I had. Yes spacers are good but they're also good if you buy the correct brand and size. I would suggest doing one of two options:
1. Get a wheel and tire set up that has more offset than your stock tires. Save the money you'll use by buying the spacers and put them to a better use like a new tire or wheel.
2. You can use these spacers, see if you like them and sell them if you do not.
I removed the spacers shortly after installing them due to the fact it did not fix my rubbing issue. I decided to do the cab mount chop and sold my spacers to a friend.

Cab Mount Chop resolved all of my rubbing issues. Basically a 3 inch lift solves rubbing issues with a 285 tire, but a 2.5-2.75 inch lift does not. You will still rub off road depending on how you use your truck while off roading, on a logging road you should not have a problem. My advice is to ditch the spacers and go with a CMC.

I only had them installed for 2 months before uninstalling them. I sold them to a personal friend and he's had ZERO issues. There's now 75k miles on his truck with no problems.
You have 33s on tacoma. the only solution is cmc. spacers don't help. you just essentially moved the pivot point of wheel out = more rubbing.

Yes the spacers did not resolve the problem. With my leveling kit with a net lift of 3" and -10mm off set wheels I did not rub. When I installed my Fox DSC suspension with 2.75" of lift, I would rub at full wheel turn (left and right). If I upgrade to a new tacoma I'll do the CMC first. Thank you for your input.
If the factory calls for 83ft lb wouldn’t u Torque spacers to the hub at 83ft lbs too? What made you decide on 90 ft lbs. wouldn’t the spacer make it rub the cab mount area even worse? I’m installing these on my 19 taco in a couple days

I decided to use 90 ft lbs on the spacers because I used red lock tight to bolt the spacer to the hub. Then I used 83ft lbs for the wheels to the hub due to the fact the factory calls for the torque. The reason the spacer to hub is different is due to the fact I did not want to it loose and it will stay in place due to the red lock tight. I remember reading somewhere to used 90 ft lbs on the spacers; and I'll verify the torque value within the next 24 hours. You can use 83 ft lbs on both, but make sure you use red lock tight on the spacer to wheel hub bolts.
Stryker Seattle gotcha. I’ve read many other people that use medium blue locktite instead of read as well. I’ll deff be removing the spacers when I get aftermarket wheels. I guess I’ll need to decide what’s best. Blue seems like a good compromise between the two.

Yes there are many opinions out there. Make sure you use anti-seize between the spacer and wheel hub, you do not want them to bind. Make sure you check out Stealth Series Custom for new wheels, best wheels for Toyotas. Let me know how the install goes, and good luck with your build.

Yes these will help push the wheel away from the UCA. It increases the negative offset therefore pushing the tire away from the body of the truck. What is your wheel set up? How much offset do you have?

If I were to do it all again, I would have stayed with my Revtek lift for the following reasons:
1. The Fox suspension is $4,000 dollars, Revteck ~$400
2. Unless you off road every single day or every single weekend, you do not need this high performance suspension
3. Fox suspension is high maintenance, takes a tech to install it properly and you have to read countless forums about it to understand it's workings
4. Fox does not have a warranty and Toyota won't warranty it if anything goes wrong "they'll blame it on the suspension regardless if it's related" This suspension cost me $5300 after installing it, "air bag wire came loose from installing the upper control arms and the fox relocation bracket fail and ripped my CV boot therefore replacing the whole front axle."
5. The ride quality is okay, my truck ran better with the Revtek spacer and felt more "tight" while driving, no sway
Basically, if you're doing it for looks and only driving on the street go with the Revtek (more reliable, dealership do not mind them if they install them and there's no maintaining them yourself). If you upgrade to the Fox suspension, have a shop install them and have the shop order them so that if anything goes wrong.. they cover it. I hope this answers your question. In the near future, I'll be selling my Fox suspension and going back to the Leveling kit then selling the truck.
Questions:3. What makes the Foxes high Maintenance? Why would you need a "tech" to install them? What went wrong with your install for you to say this?4. Fox does have a warranty. You need to find a new Toyota dealership if they are blaming anything other then suspension component failure on your mods. What warranty claims have they denied due to the lift? What was the other $1300 you spent to install these yourself? What failed on the swaybar relocation brackets? 5. You are the first person I've ever heard say a 3" spacer rode better then a great quality suspension like Fox or King.Why are you selling the truck?You should have done research before installing the spacers thinking this was going to fix your rubbing issues? Your wheels already have a lot of negative offset causing the rubbing, spacers will only make this worse.

Nice video! When tightening the wheel lug nuts you first mention to tighten them to 83 ft lbs. afterwards you said 43 ft lbs. which is the correct torque.

I would recommend a cab mount chop before running 35" tires. If you do not rub, then I would recommend spacers to push the wheel out once the CMC has been done.
