Apple said “you want usb C so bad, buy it yourself” 😂😂
Roflmao
The hole idea of switching everything to USB-C is that supplier shouldn't send cables and chargers with every device! If they should supply a cable anyway they could include the lightning as no environmental benefit was made anyway! So no cable makes the most sense for the environment!
It is courage
Lol
cable that is.
My question, is it worth upgrading from the first generation AppleTV 4K?
IMO, if you have the last generation Apple TV 4k it is not worth upgrading, however if you use your 2-3 generation old Apple TV daily it is worth upgrading. The higher end model is easily the way to go for $20.
Apple TV 4K (1st gen) can’t decide if it’s enough to upgrade still
So would you rather get the 2021 version for $99 via Amazon or the 2022 64GB version for $129?
@@cleonghant 2021 for $99 or 2022 128GB
@@cleonghant save money and get 99$ or get the 128Gb 2022 one imo
The big question is New model 4K support more Wi-Fi connections and a smart bike and have to use a iPad to Connect up with my 2021 Apple TV 4K?
Does the new 4K unit finally have Bitstream output and does it support Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master Audio?
I’ve been doing my best to get Thread ready devices to help get fewer items needing to go to my router.
I'm already set up to use Ethernet so I went with the higher-end model for the living room. Sticking with the 2021 model for now in the bedroom, but if I do upgrade it will be to the lower version as I do not have an ethernet setup now and do not plan to either.
Glad that Apple increase the storage space. Now I can install more games without the need to delete the old ones.
Does it work with the external sound bar? Via Bluetooth or the HDMI- ARC out ?
Especially the Apple TV 4K 2022?
I was going to skip Apple TV altogether, because most smart TVs have the Apple TV on there, but I just realized I have two of the original HomePods that I can connect to if I buy the Apple TV. Thanks.
From what I understand, the Shield TV was able to stream Atmos from a home service (Plex) and the old Apple TV could not do this. Does anyone know if the new one can?
Thank you very much- until I heard you mention Thread support, I was waiting for my order of the cheaper model. Changed my order and waiting for the more expensive model. Good job.
HDMI 2.1 differences?
I have the now previous generation Apple TV4k. I use wired ethernet and I have a Samsung TV. Seems I'll need the new higher-end model at the base storage.
Thanks for the tips on de high end version, now i definitely take it.
Do I need Thread if I am going to be getting two home pods?
Got the original 4K, not really any issues with it. Would I see any big benefits? TV is 5 years old, not Dolby Vision or anything like that on it.
I still have the 64GB 2015 Apple TV HD and definitely gonna upgrade to the 128GB version.
It sounds like it's not very much to offer here versus older model. But what about the sound quality.? Lots of people use this in their home theater low noise floor components are important. Is this a good streaming source for home theater sound quality?
If i have last the year Apple TV it is worth it to upgrade or not.
Can I just buy the remote and keep my current apple TV?
If my tv is only full hd, does it make sense to buy 4k?
Can you airplay in 2160p yet? Or still limited to 1080p?
I also hate how flakey airplay is, often have to reconnect multiple times etc. Whereas DLNA works without fail...
Same issue on entirely different apple tv unit in another room. I upgraded my home network thinking it was that. Also changed to newer iphone since (13 pro max). Same weirdness...
I thought apple was supposed to be oh so seamless but I run into more issues than I did back in my android days tbh. Also finding support via Google search always gives me totally irrelevant support articles. Infuriating.
I bought the 4K a few months ago and have no need to upgrade at this point. good review though
Could this apple tv 4k run 720p?
I cannot find out about the remotes. I’ve seen one in black with a ‘menu’ button. What’s the difference between them?
Thanks nice video I did not know about the thread component and I was thinking about getting an Apple TV to help me run Zwift cycling training application without requiring my PC to run and I will get the higher and model. Great job.
I will be upgrading from my Apple TV 4K Gen 1. Any idea if I can use the same power cable so I don’t have to take my tv off the wall and plug in the new cable
Same cord across all models
I’m in Apple ecosystem, I have a smart android tv 2021 ( hdr+ 4K Dolby vision ) but I never had a Apple TV before. should I purchase it ? What are the benefits?
The high end one can’t you use either net and hdmi?
Let’s not forget they start at 129 now. They used to be what 169 and 189 before? So new and way cheaper
. Way more competitive price.
What has more ads on RUclips? Apple TV or Chromecast? I know the fire stick has many more ads compared to Chromecast when using the RUclips app. Feedback please.
Apple TV is one of my fave products but I don’t think I’ll be upgrading from the regular 4K model.
I wish they had gone for a dongle.
Just bought my first Apple TV like 2 months ago... This upgrade seems alright but I'm alright with my Apple TV - Best Buy put it as a return & damaged - Purchased it for $119
Got a first gen Apple TV 4K and have zero need to "upgrade" to this new model as it doesn't really bring anything significant to the table.
If I were to get a new one today, I'd stick to the entry model as I don't need the Ethernet port, double storage or the thread home automation.
Would have been nice to see the previous 4k AppleTv model next to the new one to see size difference instead of only just telling us size update.
He doesn't have one in hand. This *is* the old one. New ones out next month.
Is this device useable without any other Apple device?
Hi, newby here. I don't know anything about Apple TV. Can I use it to view m4v videos, from my apple desktop, across the room, on my Samsung smart TV 15 feet away. Can I do this by WiFi or do I need a bunch of other apps, etc? Now, I just put them on a portable SSD and plug it into my TV. Thanks.
It’s worth mentioning that the newer models having the A15 means the new video decoder which supports WebM VP8 and VP9, while the older A12 model doesn’t. These newer codecs mean higher quality RUclips videos and non-Apple streams, as you can now use a much more modern and efficient codec.
I saw non-Apple because they use H265 instead, which is on all models and competitive with VP9 in efficiency but more expensive for a streaming company to use. Still, the updated video decoder in the A15 might mean better quality H265 due to a higher level being supported than before.
Good thing to bring up!
Although I'm still on the first gen Apple TV 4K (don't plan on upgrading my device) the streaming quality already is much better than the TV's built in apps, but will keep it in mind if / when I'll need a replacement.
Higher quality RUclips videos in what way? The old Apple TV and the one before that both supported 4K YT vids too
@@Nala_1230 Sure, but none of that was explained in the video. For anyone who cares about the tech specs, this information could be important, as it helps to know what will be supported.
Good to know, not sure how much a quality difference this makes, will have to look into it
It is unreasonable to switch to a new product unless a much better codec than H265 or VP9, which will now use the AV1 codec as standard in the industry, is supported.
Getting this over the new fire cube. I loved my cube. But it's now more expensive than the apple tv for lower quality
I bought two Apple TV 4K, but I haven't been able to download any applications for two months because both devices keep saying that I can't connect to the App Store (Apple can't help with that). I recommend other products like the NVIDIA Shield.
Waiting for my 128GB model of the new apple tv 4k. HDR10+, ethernet, and usbc siri remote is a good thing with a lower price comapred the previous models.
It now also supports gigabyte internet connection .
I’m upgrading simply in hopes it will solve the audio dropouts that have recently plagued our 2021 ATV 4K
This!
Got my 2021 Apple TV 4K and I’ll be sticking with it didn’t think they would update it this soon as they usually wait a few years but even so while the lower price is always welcome and more storage would be nice there is absolutely nothing wrong with the 2021 Apple TV 4K !
Why do you even need more storage?
Having said that, Prime and Netflix don’t give you much headache!
Yo can you check if an application called Tod is on the Apple tv ?
I'll wait to see if it boosts Zwift performance at all. That's all I use it for.
I don't understand Thread. How would you use it for the TV?
Not for the TV, AppleTV is the HUB of your Home, like it is now via wifi and BT. The former model also supports Tread, so not sure why this is listed as 'new'... ?
Give us a TV-Stick for AirPlay + Audio to HomePods
Does anyone knows if you can install MacOS on that?
I have and use a 2011 iMac and I was thinking, this Apple TV is probably faster than my iMac and it costs 200 euros. If that thing can run macOS, I would decently try it out.
Thanks.
Why are we still not able to download and store purchased media on the apple tv?
Smh 🤦🏻♂️
can i use thread with apple tv when it is connected vis rj45
Purchased the 128gb model immediately. We use our current first gen Apple TV 4K as our primary gaming device so this will be way better. We were constantly running out of space and the performance on some games was not great with the A10x. Excited for 128gb and the A15. Also, I’ve been waiting for Matter and wider Thread adoption to build out our smart home so this will be great for that too.
I think its memory should be much larger now, it can make the apple device like a console There should be an option like 256 gb
Good for you enjoy it
Curious what games you play on the ATV as a primary gaming device? Apple Arcade?
What games? What controller?
We do play Arcade games primarily, but also a few other racing games and party games like Emojicharades. We got a PS4 controller and also a steel series.
I am so confused about these Apple 4k devices. I have whatever the last release of the 4k is for about a year now along with a 2nd Gen fire cube and have only used them both for one afternoon. My Shield is the only streamer I use.
Base model is good enough for me. The Hulu app was not mentioned although I am sure it’s a based app
Has apple fixed this model so that it powers on properly via CEC on Samsung TVs when using the Samsung remote? It can be done with the Samsung remote only if wait for Samsungs CEC code to the Apple TV to fail and display Power On, and then press the back button on the Samsung Remote to wake the Apple TV. Apple changed the wake CEC command with iOS 14 and no longer supports the CEC standard wake commands - I have tested this with libcec with a pi. My wife hates the Apple remote and only wants to use the Samsung One remote.
Interesting that you say it’s available now and some already have them. I ordered mine directly from Apple and they won’t be delivering until the “release date” of Nov 4th.
I have the 2021 model and it’s annoying that HDR10+ is made exclusively for this model and not for my 2nd gen model. A15 bionic does support better codecs for better visuals. Might just stick with what I have for now
I got the 128gb model and I’m really happy with the purchase.
I preordered the $20 more Apple TV that has ethernet and thread plus extra storage.
I can’t decide if I need the Ethernet or not but for $20 extra why not I guess
I just purchased last week the 2021 model 64 Gig for $114.00 from Best Buy and won’t upgrade to the 2022. I’m within the time frame to return it but I don’t think it is worth the extra $36.00
A15 in new Apple TV but not in the iPad. ??? Also still no lossless audio above 24bit/48Khz.
Do I need this if my Sony Bravia has the Apple TV app built in?
It’s just an app on ur TV my friend. This is hardware. I have same TV as yours, Apple TV is way faster than any TV’s operating system.
Can’t I do all this on just my smart tv
A15 rocks😎
Yo can you check if an application called Tod is on the Apple tv ?
With the cost only being $ 20 more I would purchase the higher end unit. Never know what is coming down the road.
Since Apple TV 4K runs on tvOS/UNIX does it ever write out to storage as part of it's operation? Is a larger memory/storage space going to help in the lifespan of the product?
Still no digital audio output. A shame
For the small price difference, it’s almost a no-brainer to buy the higher-end model. The additional features are nice too!
"Small price difference" ain't a big deal for you, but us little folk...
Big Baller Wayne
I cannot get anyone from Apple to confirm if HDR10+ is an exclusive to the new Apple TV or if it is coming for others with tvOS 16.1. It would be ludicrous for it to be an exclusive. As far as I know Dolby Vision requires more power to process than HDR10+ does. I wish someone could find the answer to this.
Thank you for making this.
Good vid, thanks.
I’m waiting for an AppleTV Pro/Ultra with M2Pro/Max/Ultra and AAA games like resident evil 😁
As always ... great video!!
Dors it have wifi 6?
Great review, With the double storage space alone, if someone willing to spend $130 on a Apple TV $20 more is not a bad move.
Yes, it's a manipulative ploy that they use.
Nice video mate.
Oh my Dolby Vision keeps dropping out on my LG TV because there is it in compatibility. So I’m figuring that this is one of those TVs that also Apple box has problems with. So I upgraded for that reason and for $20 more I got the bigger size with ethernet. Because I want the fastest streaming I can get.
Does your go black for like 3 seconds when switching videos. Bc I have to make my 2021 version 4k sdr not to get to 3 second black screens. My 4k hdr n dolby vision blacks out
Do we know if it now supports the High Res Lossless 24 bit/192 khz Apple Music tracks?
Adding support is the only feature that would make me upgrade
@@felixko88 100% agree
Until they support Dolby TrueHD I’m not upgrading from the original 4K
It should be supported by now it’s ridiculous. I’m still having to use my shield for Plex I just wanna use my apple box.
But what streaming apps use it?
Apple TV needs content download capabilities. Why so much storage if you can’t download movies and tv shows?
When are getting Apple Tvs with FaceTime?
Yeah, let the AppleTV use the iPhone cam as the FaceTime Cam, just like you can with a Mac of iPad.. 😀
@
Okay
Does this version need a special HDMI cable or will my existing cable be good enough?
Get one that has 4K120 / 8K60 written on it. They're cheap enough
Zeskit 2.1 14k 120 8k60
Can I plug in a USB C drive and play videos off it?
Most of my videos are 4K H.265 (HEVC) .mp4 files. Will it play those?
I thought I got a good deal for $79 until I saw this video! It's the older apple tv hd 32gb! Luckily I have not opened it and will be promptly returning it.
I completely missed they had a new one out.
For me personally I don’t see any compelling reason to upgrade. No new features I could do with now and I use Ethernet in my 4K so would have to buy the more expensive model
Umm yea I’m good I’ll stick with my latest model. I’m still surprise the size of this thing why haven’t they added a one usb a or usb c port for external devices like flash drives or ssd.
When your tv box comes with more powerful chip than your phone 😂
What is the cause of your eyebrow scar?
THNX for the video. for double the storage the extra port and only +20 € or $ I would Always chose the 164. so.....nice deal in my opinion. all best ! keep making these video's.
Are you going to buy the Apple TV remote for $59 because it has usb c?
Some people think usb c makes it easier to charge, but I’m keeping mine with lightning for that price.
If it had QI charging, then yes!
remote hardly ever even needs charging and they are identical outside of the port. I'm assuming most users have iPhone's too and have a lightning regardless.
I still have an HD Apple TV. It streams RUclips just like it did... 5 years ago? It's fine.
Your audio seems really muffled as of late. I’m having to crank the volume to the max on your videos and still find it hard to understand you sometimes.
Interesting. Haven’t changed any of the levels!
Excellent video, thank you!
Got 64gb
Wait till black Friday at least
Probably not necessary but I got the higher end model. I currently have the 2021 model.
Yo can you check if an application called Tod is on the Apple tv ?
If you need the Ethernet port, just buy the 2021 version since it's been available for $110 for months.
Sucks HDR10+ which was previously listed as a tvOS 16 feature is only coming to this new Apple TV 4K 2022 model. Not supported for Apple TV 4K 2021 or 2017 models according to Apple Support. Maybe they shouldn’t announce software features if they are exclusive to a product that is not even announced yet. Maybe Apple Support is wrong and it will release after all.
Another video mentions that HDR10 is basically only supported on Samsung, not LG or Sony. They also mentioned that LG & Sony have terrific processors so it's wash for them anyways but a great boost for Samsung.
Curious if anyone can expand or correct me on this.
@@jamms2966 I think your correct And Nobody Can correct You. HDR10 is a Samsung exclusive because they don’t want to pay for Dolby vision. Lg and Sony just pay for Dolby vision and they both do tend to have superior processors, with Sony having the best processor
I think reviews on which model to buy should be left until the reviewer as the item and able to test and compare. My main concern would be above all picture and sound quality and without a side by side comparison these reviews are pointless.
Don’t get me wrong knowing up coming features is informative and useful but to me a tv streaming device needs to be reviewed on picture quality and sound above all else. Please do a side by side comparison when you have one to test.👍
