    I've been using Apple TVs for a very long time and have also dabbled with a Fire TV and a Roku. I like the Apple TV the best nad recently installed the latest model. I find that using the ethernet connection does produce the best results. I use the Spectrum TV app and it was almost unusable without the ethernet connection. I also like the new remote a lot and truly appreciate the mute button.

    I have both Firecube 3rd gen and a new Apple TV. Both have their uses. The cube allows side-loading via downloader and you can use custom launchers like Wolf launcher, but Amazon keep messing things up and blocking things with constant updates. So far, I really love the ATV device. It is very clean and just works well. The sound seems better especially for Apple Music. Streaming is very fast thanks to the new processor and way more storage. I do however use Amazon for my smart home as devices are cheap and there are so many compatible devices for it. Apples smart accessories are very expensive. Maybe that will change with the new systems. I really like the use of SIRI for searching for films or music. It is incredibly fast and accurate. I am a long time Apple iPhone/iPad user, so I am very used to Apple devices. As stated, I do like both devices, but find I am using the Apple TV device for most streaming at the moment.

    I purchased the new Fire cube Gen 3 and the video quality was terrible compared to the 2nd Gen. I waited to see if any updates came up before return period ended. No updates came that fixed video quality, I returned it before deadline. Bought the Apple 4k TV with Ethernet and there are a few quirks that hopefully will be addressed with future updates but the video quality and the Gig Ethernet are what really made me happy!

    • @RagnarBlox

      The fact that the Fire Cube didn't put Gig Ethernet on its new device in 2022 is mind boggling. I have a PLEX media server I run on a network NAS that has thousands of movies/tv shows and being throttled at 100mbps on Ethernet is crazy. That really only leaves me Apple TV or Nvidia Shield.

    Craig, I got my AppleTV last week (yes, the ethernet/thread one, I listen to you!) and it's not doing what I expected. I thought when I added the apps for the Australian free to air tv channels, and Prime etc, that if I went into those apps through the AppleTV and added something to my watchlist or watched a first episode of something, that it would show up in my Up Next list. But it doesn't. A couple of shows are there, but most aren't. I even opened the ABC app through my app menu and watched the first episode of a show and then went and checked the Up Next list and the next episodes weren't there. Am I doing something wrong? I was really looking forward to being able to have everything in one place and not having to remember which channel had which show, but my Up Next looks more like a watch list than a continue watching list. I'm not going to return it or anything, but I am disappointed.
    BTW, might be worth mentioning that it doesn't come with an HDMI cable either. It took me to the HDMI cable to add it to my cart too, but my first one came with one so I assumed there was a basic cable in the box and the one it wanted me to add on was an optional fancier one, which I figured I didn't need because I haven't upgraded my TV yet. I've used the cable from my old unit so it's fine, but if I hadn't had a spare one I would've needed to wait for that to get delivered too.

    I've had them all and what I find is that they all have their pluses and minuses. So it's what's most important to you which defines your choice. In my case my Nvidia Shield was clunky going in and out of Netflix 4K and sometime wouldn't load, and I wasn't into games. AppleTV is great but an app or two wasn't available and no sideloading. Roku just seems outdated. I have the FireTV 4K max and love it. Only problem, limited storage so my daily driver is the Fire Cube. Just my take.

    Just got the latest model Apple TV 128gb and I can’t believe what I was missing. I had an older Apple TV way back I’m day pre HD when they were almost $300 loved it used it for about a year almost 2. Then came the 4k and better quality tvs and at that time the Apple TV didn’t seem so great so I tried it a fire stick and for a while was hooked had every fire stick form the second one to current 4k. Lately my 4k max forestick had been giving me issues Netflix’s not loading at all slow boot times etc so I added a thumb drive for more memory and didn’t help any. Now this brings me to currently I decided to take the plunge back to Apple TV and wow I can’t believe I waited so long to come back from the airdropping from my iPad iPhone e to just how easy it works over all is what I love about it. One other weird issue was with the Apple TV my sound bar actually sounds better and plays more even the firestock the Audio was always too low and wasn’t what I expected and it was over a few fire sticks so it’s something with the coding I’m them. The video was fine. But even with Apple TV I’ve seen a little better picture too. My recommendation would be if you are a Apple person ie iPad iPhone go Apple TV if your a android firesti kick or even on a budget go for it either way your gonna be getting some of the best streaming devices around easy 1-2 out of them all

    The Apple TV relies on HDMI-CEC for basic remote functions. You have the option of IR for. volume and mute but not power. This creates constant headaches because everyone know CEC is finicky at best. Also the remote tends to lose connection a lot needing a reset. Never once had these kind of issues with the Fire TV. While the power and UI is easily better on the Apple I couldnt still with it for my main TV because of the remote issues. Also the Apple tends to get app updates much slower than Fire TV.

    It's actually quite simple: If you value sound quality (lossless audio formats like TrueHD and DTS-HD MA) and have a dedicated AVR, you'll go for the Fire TV Cube. If you don't care about audio but want a butter smooth interface, you'll opt for the Apple TV.

    • @saadalhaddad4055
      @saadalhaddad4055 8 месяцев назад

      So right! Even more, it would really be bad if someone install an Apple TV on a high end Sony Bravia Master series (like an A90J, A95k or A95L) which support both IMAX Enhanced and DTS X with multiple apps like Disney+ and Bravia core and the usual Prime and Netflix, and the consumer watches one of those IMAX Enhanced movies on an Apple device that doesn't support DTS, just because the wiring and the AVR is set up to run on Apple TV. The consumer ends up with a clean interface with no ads, but miss the IMAX movie experience after paying premium dollars. Imagine if they also had an IMAX enhanced compatible AVR like one of those expensive high end Denons or the new Sony AVRs (although Sony is not a high end receivers, maybe the STRAZ5000ES and the STRAZ7000ES are 🙂) . Even if the consumer knows how to hook up all the wires, to connect all their IMAX Enhanced TV and IMAX Enhanced AV Receiver as an option, and watching everything else on Atmos and Dolby Vision on Apple TV, why confuse the consumer and have them toggle between the built in apps and a streaming device. Just get the Amazon Cube to stream IMAX Enhanced from Disney +, Prime and Netflix. However for Bravia Core, you must use the built in app as I searched for a Bravia core app on Amazon Cube Apps and it's just not there yet.

    Android OS is the most busy of all streaming OS's. but has a lot of neat features not present in others. The problem with the Cube is it runs on Amazon's version of Android OS. It is way to busy, the ad takes up half the screen, and the one row people use the most (the APP row) is the smallest row with thumbnails so small you need a telescope to see each APP. Amazon has by far the worst UI of all streaming devices.
    Apple's tvOS is the simplest of all OS's and the easiest to use. I wish they did a better job at integrating across APP platform programs as the Apple TV APP doesn't integrate all APPs. But the top shelf pretty much covers what the Apple TV APP does not. It is, IMO, the smoothest, simplest, and easiest to use UI. It does exactly what streaming OS's should do, put the APPs as the main focus with no other busy crap or complex navigation.
    I started off using Fire TVs. I had the original gen one small rectangular TV, then fire sticks. I also use Roku's and Chromecast with Google TV, Google TV OS on one of my TVs, and Web OS on another TV. I slowly turned away from Amazon as each update just made the UI worse, focusing more on ads and less on the APPS. Once I bought an Apple TV, there was nothing that came close to matching it.
    Apple tvOS is the best UI of all on the market. I would put Roku #2 and all other Android based UIs after (with Amazon's version being the worst of all.)
