Agree on all points. I came from a Roku Ultra. It's now in use for my bedroom TV. The Apple TV 4k is now my main streamer on the living room TV. Buttery smooth. And props for the choice of using light mode. I thought I was the only one. Seems all the reviews and tips videos here have dark mode enabled. Apple TV 4k looks awesome in light mode.
I just bought this. The speed, smoothness, and no lag is why I'm thinking of keeping it. I prefer the Chromecast with Google TV's UI and customizable layout though. Plus I have an android phone so setup and typing isn't nearly as easy. Siri voice typing helps, but still 2nd to Google Assistant. If it wasn't for lag and lack of storage, the Chromecast would be far ahead of Apple TV, Roku, and Fire TV.
I tried Chromecast w/Google TV back in February. Really enjoyed the UI also, however, after about a month, the device started having freezing issues where rebooting was required. I was constantly closing apps and clearing cache so that wasn’t the issue. I’ve since returned to the newest ATV and it never freezes or buffers, never. If Chromecast w/Google TV can update their hardware that has more onboard storage and a better processor, only then will I consider purchasing that device again.
@@greghull3189 yea dude that's the main problem Google smh. I wish Google would just put better hardware with that great software. I'd pay $100 for it.
I love the Apple TV. But what really annoys me is that there is no guideline from Apple to developers regarding the UI and usage of the remote. While I can scrub back and forth on Disney plus using the iPod like click wheel, I cannot do the same on Amazon Prime or vice versa. In some apps I can long press the forward button to fast forward continuously, on other apps I can’t. I wish that Apple would force developers to add all functions in every video player: iPod like fast forwarding, swiping on the touch layer and clicking the most right button on the wheel. In addition to that: one time clicking should just jump 10 seconds back and forth.
Coming from a Roku and Shield TV, those are even worse at app uniformity. TiVo was the best at uniformity, but it was REALLY slow.. like 30 seconds to launch an app slow. The only reason the Apple TV isn't perfect for me is because I can't get lossless audio on plex. I'll use the apple TV for streaming, and the Shield TV for Plex. Overall, I love the Apple TV.
I absolutely love the speed of the Apple TV 4K. And its interfaces phenomenal. This is the only Apple product I have in my house so I really don't care about integration with anything else. The reason I ditched it however, is for some reason out of the blue and very randomly it would ask for my Apple ID password. It gave me the option to skip it for that moment but then it would immediately requested again. Sometimes it will request it a couple of times other times I'm skipping it 10 times in a row. Then it would leave me alone for a couple of hours or a couple of days and then pop up again wanting the password. Rince and repeat. Just became too frustrating having to always enter my Apple ID password.
I got the 128 GB version last Friday and I love it. If you have an iPhone, the setup is as simple as holding your phone next to the device. All your apps are automatically downloaded and you're ready to go. I had a few people over to watch the Giants game (Go Big Blue) over the weekend via RUclips TV and it worked flawlessly. I also watch Smile with my girlfriend last night and the picture was beautiful and crisp. Also, Smile is creepy as hell, but a good Horror movie. The best part in my opinion is that Apple will be supporting it for years to come and I won't be worrying if I'll get the latest tvOS version. I have no regrets with my purchase.
Yes, Apple will support it for years to come but will the streaming services be supporting it? In December of 2020 nearly all the premium streamers abandon every Apple TV below the HD version.. Suddenly everything was gone except Netflix, Crackle and Apple's streamer. Pretty soon Netflix will be gone (its currently running an old ass version of Netflix).. I do agree that the 2022 Apple TV 4K is awesome.. I'm a bit surprised that Apple hasn't come out with a full TV yet.
Apple abandoned every Apple TV before the HD (aka 4th gen) first because 3rd gen and older don’t run tvOS (they also have much less memory and compute).
as a long time firestick owner and now 1st time apple tv owner i can honestly say for just streaming movies and watching shows off the main apps like netflix, hulu etc apple tv is better and its alot faster and smoother than a firestick but if you wanna do more like browse the internet or download 3rd party apps like cinema hd etc off the internet onto your device then the firestick is better since you cant do that on apple tv with that being said i have both plugged into my tv
I'm still using the first gen Apple TV 4K and it's awesome. One of my biggest peeves is lag when using these media sticks/boxes. I've had so many firesticks and boxes, ROKU, etc... and they all lag to some extent. The Apple boxes are the best. Pay the extra, you won't regret it.
I get lag on my Apple TV 64gb. I only bought it because my cable tv app works with it. I don't game with it. I have PlayStation 4 and 5 for gaming. It is overpriced , but i save money on renting a cable tv box, so i consider it a wash at the end of the day.
How easy is it to send your photos to this new ATV to be used as a screensaver? The only way with the older one is to send the photos to the cloud which I don't do because I have 25K plus photos :). It used to be simple, but it seems complicated now (if you don't use the cloud).
When I decided to “cut the cord” about a year and a half ago, I started with Roku because of the cost. TL;DR: Ethernet cable signal transmission is more reliable than Wi-Fi, so no dropouts in sound or constant video buffering. Otherwise, no noticeable difference in video or sound quality. Long version: If your home Wi-Fi is pretty fast and reliable, then you probably won’t notice any difference in video or sound quality. In my home, I use Ethernet cable because it is consistently reliable almost every time. When I use Wi-Fi the sound cuts off every several minutes which is super annoying. Occasionally, Wi-Fi speed for some reason drops from over 100 mpbs to less than 20 mbps. Ethernet is almost always at a consistent speed of at least 90 mbps. If you have Gigabit Ethernet capability then this’ll be way faster for you.
P.S. if your streaming device is too far from Wi-Fi source and has a weak signal, that’s another situation in which Ethernet can help you. You can have your streaming device as far as possible in your home, yet Ethernet transmission signal strength will still be great.

@@deman19901 what 💀
what’s the difference between with the ethernet and without?? I’m going to be getting one for the holidays
Is this for people with trash tvs ? Be honest?

@@OpinionatedOG184 Read my comment again please......Apple TV 4K still does not support Dolby Atmos in "TrueHD"..........NOTE - TRUEHD....... It does support Dolby Atmos in Dolby Digital Plus (lossy format)...... Is doesn't support Dolby Atmos in TRUEHD(Lossless format) and DTS-HD(Lossless format) unfortunately. Thank you anyway
Love mine too bro
Yes indeed 👍👍👍
A $100 more it better offer a lot more. I have multiple Apple TVs, but have quit buying them. The ability to surf the internet that came earlier to other devices easily beats the Apple TV. Apple TVs of previous generations are missing plenty of applications.
Apple devotee will accept this.😅 No DTS, Dolby trueHD passthrough so its not worthy.
Apple TV has got to be Apple's worse product.
I bought two Apple TV 4K but I haven't been able to download any application for two months because both devices keep saying that I can't connect to the App Store (Apple can't help with that). I recommend other products like the NVIDIA Shield.
ok man you are making the same comment on all apple tv 2022 youtube reviews! the shield crusader strikes again! hero of the shield!
A lot of these reasons can be found on a under $30 streaming device...
It will never be better then fire stick because they don’t support third party apps
The previous gen Apple TV 4K & heck even the HD version are smooth & zippy as fuck... U really don't need to upgrade for "speed" !
Agree on all points but on privacy - seriously apple is as best as Google amazon Facebook etc 😂
Google TV with chromecast should have been compared.
Apple TV Android phone supported
