Only a must have for those who own HDR10+ TVs, otherwise nothing new and simply a way to rob you of money if you already own the 2021 version.
How about up the price to the additional $30 again and supply a nice charging cable and power supply? The move to stop supplying these continues to completely baffle me, esp. since they keep changing the darn cable type all the time.

For faster times to get four k RUclips videos have premium and have iOS 16.1 turn on higher quality picture on Wi-Fi and cellular if your device has cellular data enabled and have the latest version of the RUclips app

Just picked mine up a couple of days ago. Love the redesigned remote that they upgraded last year. I had the 4K 64GB from the edition before last. It’s really nice. The setup was really easy too! Cool video!
2022 4k was much less buggy when using airplays volume controls ported quicker to AirPlay speakers while on my 2021 ATV 4K, it was laggy and still controlled the hdmi volume output even though I disable audio to the tv.
Mines is out for delivery can’t wait to get it soon
upgraded from chromecast to this very version of Apple TV. Unimaginable boost in screen quality. Totally worth it.

There is most definitely room for a cable for the remote. Just need to shape it a little.

Is the image quality better on the apple tv or on the native apps that are already installed on the smart tv?
I never ever want to have all of my image chaos in the appletv. May I filter the pictures transferred to Appletv? An idea I have, would be: Setting up an album on an ipad / iphone and syncing only those pics. Is that possible?

Don't think I'll need to upgrade any of mine. I have the last version 4K in the living room, and the 4K before that in the bedroom. If I needed another or a new one of course I would get this version.
Airplay connect was glitchy on the 2021. Volume controls didn’t port over from the hdmi monitor out to my airplay speakers. With the 2022 4K, there is no such issue

So, here are some questions: We get our TV via satellite which comes with its own box. How does Apple TV work with that? I’m guessing Apple TV bypasses the TV’s pre-installed apps in favor of its own. Is that how it works?
Just got my first Apple TV today. My Firestick wasn’t cutting it anymore. Picture looks better on Apple TV. The remote seems overly sensitive, but I probably have to get used to it.

I have always been a firestick person. However seeing YOUR demo of the Apple TV ( I also have a iphone 11 ) I think this will be an early Xmas gift to myself.
Thread support is one of the reason that i'm upgrading.
I like using Apple Music with this, it has Dolby Atmos and being able to use my Ps4 controller with games. I had the old Apple TV with the optical port as I had older equipment, however that is not an issue as most TVs have an Optical out so I can use that instead and apps that have Dolby Atmos will have 5.1 with older AV equipment.
Debating on going the streaming instead of Cable. I have an older Apple TV that I wasn't using and plugged it into my older TV. So, what I'm thinking instead of buying a new Smart TV I'm wondering if just buying the new Apple TV 4K would be the better idea.

I ended up buying a Fire stick 4K because it was on sale. I own both previous Apple TV 4K models. I’ll buy this one eventually but I don’t see a reason to upgrade.

I’m wanting to get the Apple TV HD since I don’t have a 4K TV but I’m not sure how I can use this version since last years had the right ports for the Apple TV itself and for me to plug the right cords into the TV and in the wall.

Love the apple TV, but setup is annoying when you don't have an iPhone and you cant get rid of the complete setup message. I have to check my iMac to get the code. I prefer my Zfold 4 for my cell and have not found a way around it sending the setup code to my Mac.

So I'm cutting the cord finally and am thinking about trying RUclipsTV. Unfortunately I have a 2015 model Samsung TV that doesn't support the RUclipsTV app, so I need a streaming device. Since I have many other iOS and MacOS devices, Apple TV seems the logical choice for me. Would I be able to get the RUclips TV app on this? And also, if I don't plan to use an ethernet connection, is there any reason to go with the 128 gb instead of 64? Thanks for your help!

Since it’s the first remote with USB C, you’d think they’d include a cable. I’m sure there are many Apple customer who don’t have one. Otherwise nice that it’s smaller and cheaper.
I think most have usb c, they must have done some kind of market research

The most loyal Apple customers probably have an iPad that already has a USB-C Cable, new Apple customers come from an Android phone that has a USB-C cable or at least any other accessory that comes with it. At this point, I’d be surprised to meet someone who doesn’t have at least one USB-C cable at home

On my 2022 Apple TV 4K on tvOS 16.1, Match Dynamic Range switching between Dolby Vision, HDR and SDR is not working. I have to switch manually. This is not an issue on my 2021 unit. Is anyone else having this issue?

Apple needs to add support for simultaneous outputs. Currently they support only output via bluetooth or hdmi, not both. I have a use case when grandparents want to watch tv with the family and they need their own headphone and volume control while the rest of the family listens via the home theater system. I do this now with a separate headphone output, but it would be great if added as an option via appletv.
literally no televisions do this right now let alone a streaming box.

Not sure this one makes sense monetarily as you can now get the last gen for $100 with 32gb and Ethernet/wifi. The A12 is plenty fast for what the Apple TV is meant to do. Unless the extra storage is a necessity for you.

You can use your applewatch and your iPhone as a remote as well.
Remember that you don't need the ethernet model for thread support in your apple home if you already own a homepod mini!

this device is its own device. Runs tvOS, can install apps from App Store too. Ofcourse it includes the Apple TV app that you have.

It takes a heavy game to overheat an iPhone. The Apple TV with its larger form factor will take longer to overheat, if it does.

Excellent video! Was very interested to see just how different this is from the last gen TV4K.
The price difference, at least to my eyes, literally only reflects the lack of a charging cable for the remote, and the savings on the bill of materials for fan, plastics, packaging. Unless you previously owned a product that charges with USB-C, the $20 cable you’ll likely purchase at time of sale will bring it to $149/$169… no real savings if you don’t own a recent MacBook, iPad or other Type C device 😅
Apple is known for overcharging for maximum profit. Who cares about them? If you have money to burn, support them, otherwise, I am not keeping up with their updates. Nvidia shield pro beats them with the exception of HDR10+.

Fortunately for me, I have both a new MacBook AND a new iPad Pro, so I will be receiving all the savings when my new Apple TV gets here, lol..
My new Apple TV 4K is arriving today. I wish the manufacturers of devices such as this would provide written guidance or online guidance rather than make their customers figure everything out by trial and error. Specifically, I don’t know what the video format selection on the Apple TV 4K is supposed to accomplish. If I select “4K HDR,” am I telling the device that it’s connected to a 4K TV that handles HDR, or am I telling the device that the incoming signal is 4K HDR? If I’m using the Apple TV 4K to watch videos on Plex, must I change this setting every time I switch from an old TV show to a blu ray movie to a 4K movie? I would hope that the Apple TV 4K is smart enough to know that.
Exactly shit stuff I slammed my head to last week
I find that it’s best to have the setting as 4K SDR and have match content set to on for ‘range’. That way you’re not forcing ALL content to show in hdr on the tv whether it was recorded that way or not. It’s still able to have the Apple TV automatically send a hdr signal to the TV when this setting is enabled. Enable ‘match frame rate’ if you want to make sure Dolby Vision (another better version of hdr) is activated when possible. Having it this way will also save electricity costs as sdr is less power hungry for TVs than hdr. Hope that made sense. Any questions just ask. 😊
