    I’ve got the Apple TV 4K 2021 that I bought in July 2022. I’m absolutely in love with this product. Best investment I’ve made in terms of my viewing experience. Easy connect to AirPods - handy to use whilst watching a movie/programme late at night. Prevents disturbing other people I live with. Picture quality is fantastic to watch on my 4K sony tv.
    I’ve watched a few reviews on the 2022 model & I can’t see a big enough difference to warrant an upgrade & paying the asking price. To me there’s barely any difference. I think I’ll leave it for a while to upgrade my Apple tv & + I really haven’t had mine long enough to trade it it in for the newer product not the market.

    Turns out the QMS-VRR setting only stops the black screen switch when it comes to frame rate switching. If you have sdr set all the time but have match dynamic range enabled you’ll still get a black screen briefly (although it’ll likely be quicker at switching due to not having to do the frame rate sorting AS WELL AS dynamic range).

    Last year's ATV 4k broke my iTunes Library and won't load my Library in the ATV App which will be a MAJOR problem when they eventually get rid of the Movies/TV apps. Issue still exist on the new ATV which makes it useless for me. I've never played a game on the ATV, I have consoles for that.
    Picture Processing on streams is a LOT better on the new one, it's clearer, less posterization and fixed the old black crush issue. It's now on par with the Nvidia Shield pro. • @williamshakespeare3427
      @williamshakespeare3427 Год назад

    • @williamshakespeare3427

      It’s not an issue technically because your tv or Apple TV isn’t broken. It’s just switching between different display types( hdr, Dolby vision) both are essentially the same thing. What you get depends on what tv you have. Some TVs are capable of both.

      It's a bit more involved than that. No TV supports QMS yet, as it is a HDMI 2.1 feature that not even LG have implemented yet.
      HDMI 2.1's QMS is a derivate of VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) but not the same. Here is the HDMI organization's description: "Quick Media Switching for movies and video uses the HDMI VRR mechanism to eliminate the blackout period when an HDMI Source device switches its video mode. As long as the resolution remains the same and only the frame rate changes, QMS will instantly switch between frame rates".
      Paired with the Match Frame Rate function, QMS will allow Apple TV 4K to seamlessly match frame rates for output in 23.976Hz, 24.00Hz, 50Hz, 60Hz etc. without any black screens (so-called HDMI bonk) or picture interruptions on the TV.

    the games you play on your phone or iPad can also be played on the Apple TV on a much larger screen and also you can use your PS5 or xbox one s controller with the Apple TV. Since you own the games already you might as well try them out on a full size screen with a game console controller and you have Apple Arcade you have access to that library. (personally Apple Arcade isn't worth paying for but there are ways to get it for free).

    What I can’t understand is WHY didn’t Apple add continuity camera support for Apple TV and add a FaceTime app so we could use it like a big ass FaceTime device with PiP and SharePlay? We have family across the globe and this would be an awesome feature to be able to FaceTime on the living room tv! I think that the bits already are in place with the hardware already in. Apple silicon, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi. So I guess it’s just a software update to TVOS at this point. Just do it! I say! Anyone with me?

      @@Celisar1 There are some key differences between the original Apple 4K TV and this new version; HDR10+ (key if you have a Samsung TV), extra memory, Gigabit ethernet and the fact that the 2017 version is laggy and the remote sucks.
