Your analysis is spot on! It's weird but listening to this performance over and over has taught me more about how to sing than years of lessons and practice! My own vocal performance has improved by internalizing it.
He is a trained Jewish cantor. This performance was nominated for a Grammy which is why they were there in the first place. The backstage crew came out and the audience gave them a 10-minute ovation.
You should watch the tea time with the charismatic voice. She and David Draiman had a conversation of about 1,5 hours and in that he explaines exactly how he does that. He calls it grid. And for your information he had a lision in his vocalcord and 50mg prednison in his body to get the swelling down. He said that also in the conversation.
An other great cover to check out is Chris Cornell - "Nothing Compares 2 U" [Live @ SiriusXM] | Lithium - (Prince Cover made famous by Sinead O'Conner) Has an acouistic guitar, spanish guitar and cello.
Great reaction, as what is there to say, but “Holy Crap” You do a great job of saying what I was feeling the first time I heard this, so good on you. You were blown away, we’ve all been blown away by David Draimans voice. He sings Sound of Silence like a battle hymn of the soul.
This might have been mentioned already, and if so, my apologies, but David was very ill and running a high fever, during this performance, and was given the stool to sit on, because of it. Keep that in mind, while listening to his performance.
You should watch the charismatic voice, you’d love Elizabeth. She’s classically trained as an opera singer and she dissects the vocals on music videos. You would learn a lot from her. She has videos of Will Ramos of Lorna Shore having cameras down his throat while he screams and makes different sounds. Then they did another one with needles, poor guy. The shaky notes at the end are his vibrato and the other is just his distortion on top of his voice to make it sound like gravel. Maybe you’ll get to one of my disturbed suggestions 😂
I believe that it is called a rasp and it's in the realm of harsh vocals. Within harsh vocals I think it's in the yelling style. Considering his band is in the hard rock genre I think he worked exceedingly hard to get those cleans to be so squeaky clean.
You should watch the music video first so you can see the video with it the video is part of it the main part everyone should watch the music video first cuz you'll miss most of it by watching just a Conan version you have to come in verse you can hear he can sing you know but you don't get to visuals and no tear the story and all that stuff
God damn man I get you're listening to the technical aspect of the vocals but you over analyzed this to the point where it's ruining the viewers experience in my opinion. Glad you liked it though.
"ruining viewers experience" 98-2% like dislike ratio, im sorry bro but you are factually wrong, i understand that pausing isnt for you but if it isnt just go watch the original video, this is my reaction style and its for a lot of people, just not you it seems and thats all
Boohoo the reaction and commentary youtuber is reacting and commenting... go watch tthe original if you want no interruption. ALSO, just cuz u said that imma do the exact opposite.
I loved everything! about your reaction! Both versions. Genuine surprise and even gasping for air! Thank you for sharing.
Another great video❤

Thank you. I binged on these reactions to this song because I think it's spectacular and makes me smile

concuerdo totalmente, una performance unica e inigualable en mi opinion
He was actually pretty sick during the Conan performance and was seated on a high stool. You can kinda see his thighs are not vertical at the end.

If you like his voice you need to checkout Devin Townsend Live stuff either Kingdom or DeadHead

Grit, rasp, distortion...produced from the false vocal cords.

lol , barely holding a note !
Heh heh. So cute.
Ok sorry I want a reaction but an in-depth after every sentence, and dissecting every word good grief. so yep I’m bitching, Great song though.
Undisturbed version on the Disturbed channel.😂
Please stop talking and spoiling the video
