One thing I love about this band is how in sync, disciplined, and they know exactly how they want their sound to be you can see multiple members motioning to the sound guys what they want.
His recorded vocals on his albums are always in tune so when you hear him live, you can see clearly the difference. But honestly it doesn't really matter, it really is an emo trademark to sing off key...

As much as I love this band, I have trouble listening to them. It brings me back to back times when I was 19 and my biggest worry was if the girl in my class had a crush on me. I have bigger worries these days, and it's tough to re-visit those carefree times knowing I will never have them again.
i have the same kind of trouble listening to them nowadays too, their first album is up there with my all time favourites, however when i listen to it - it really makes me revisit those feelings and gets me in a very depressive state like i was when i was younger (15-17) in high school and it really puts a barrier between me and enjoying the music. still awesome that they're back together and making new music though.
Yeah man, it’s truly bittersweet for me too. Happy because i had those simple and beautiful times, and said because they’re gone. This brings me back, if only for an hour or so ;)
That’s kind of what their song “Honestly?” is about- someone looking back on their problems when they were young, at the time they seemed like the biggest problems in the world but they’re older now and have new problems, and they sort of miss those “simple” ones they had. At least that’s what I get from it.
I'm 34 now and I started getting self conscious about having fun in public when I turned 30. Screw it. Have fun. Life is often boring, painful, confusing. Let it out when you have the chance. If the worst that happens is some people call you an elder emo boomer, that's pretty funny.
@@AceAndThings I'm 20 in college and learned that to some extent. I put experiences and opportunities for those over being self conscious. I still feel self conscious, but when I have fun, it doesn't matter. I've climbed out of my apartment window with a makeshift rope, worn a real pumpkin top on my head for a halloween party, it's so gratifying to have those experiences with me for life.
Didn't go to the show but went to the after show that night a random small venue that I've never been to. Ended up chatting with lead singer guy for a bit as he strolled through the bar. Cool guy. Blinked and he was gone. 30 seconds later the show busted out. It was one of the best shows I ever saw.
Why is everyone complaining about Mike's voice? He has such a unique voice, it is kind of sad and soothing at the same time and I like the fact it isn't perfect.
I mean sure that's what live performances are about and I do like them but that doesn't mean everyone would like it as well. Think of it as something like seafood or old cheese (not the best anology but the easiest).
I like his voice but he's really out of tune most of the time... I personally don't mind a few flat notes every now and then but he seems consistently out of tune, at least in this concert
just found out my friend commited suicide 2 hrs ago, literally the first thing i'm listening to is this concert. stay home is the first song and it's telling me that life is so so short.

Eh, Mike has always sounded best on record. This entire set he is struggling pretty hard and definitely does not sound great. It's part of the charm though.
The Roober A lot of it is probably just that he doesn’t sound like a teenager anymore and it would be really off-putting if he were still doing his emo winging
@@HumansFreshlyBorn TBH you can adapt the song to your vocals, but he has a big problem staying in the correct tone and he tries to hard with his voice, and that is why he loses his voice. But he is forgiven of everything by making incredible music
